Yes please. Grocery shopping would help a lot. I find your commentary on what’s best for your patients insightful and interesting. 🙋🏼♂️
Guidance for vegetarians would be fantastic. Appreciate your insight. Very helpful!
Great suggestion!
Giving up alcohol has been the best thing I've ever done! I feel SO much better!!! Funny enough on the GLP-1 I don't miss it! I am low-carb - dairy was my comfort food but I'm letting that go.I became gluten sensitive over 15 years ago ended up being a blessing not a curse lol
Another Dr said be careful with raw broccoli and cauliflower - the gas will be enormous because of the slow gut. Just sits in there slowly breaking down.
@@editorgyrl17 only the first month. Broccoli is a miracle food and much needed for satiety and nutrients
@@streetsmart6 thank you. I LIKE broccoli!
@editorgyrl17 The first 4 to 6 weeks are the worst with side effects from food, from my experience. During that time frame, I would avoid all gassy, bubbly, alcohol and sugary foods. You will get ill. Stay on the lowest dosage that works for you. I am taking it slow. I want to keep it off. Keep in mind, some people do have mental sude effects after a few weeks or so. I don't see this topic mentioned much 🤔 It gave me anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, and dizziness. After increasing my electrolytes, some of these symptoms improved. This is definitely not a long-term solution for me. In another 5 weeks, I am finished.
@@streetsmart6 I’m experiencing insomnia and a deep fatigue if I DON’T STAY MOVING. I’m not diabetic so I think blood sugar is getting scraped too low at times. I’m staying on lowest possible dose to give my pancreas a break. There’s no reason to keep upping the dose if a low dose is working.
Doing high protein, fruits, veg, no added sugar and no processed foods or carbs. Been slamming water, and walking, swimming, and weight lifting. I’m doing compounded tirzepatide and all the food noise is gone from my head. For the first time in 40 years I have crafted a nutrition & training strategy and am kicking ass on it 7 days a week. This must be what thin people feel, just no noise in their heads about food.
@@editorgyrl17I really don't check in on here too much that I'd why email is easier. Of course, if you feel uncomfortable, I will try to check in here
Thank U 4 grocery shopping! 🎉 please do it again! Its hard to suggest food to peeps but ur a doc!
More videos on diet and what we can eat on Ozempic
You got it! Thank you for the feedback. 💪
@@dr.stirrett This video was very helpful, specially that you did SHOW the items, so it works for people worldwide (I speak english but dont know the names of every fruit/vegetables from the back of my mind lol). I would love to see more about fruits and condiments, etc.
@@dr.stirrett just wondering why no bell peppers?
@@dr.stirrettI second this! Thank you! I’m currently doing high protein low carb. And portion control on everything else. I limit dairy & sugar. I love my fruits. I eat everything. I just use portions for everything.
I buy whole meats & slice or shred them up for lunch meat. No processed foods!! Especially processed meats! My partner’s co-workers have asked him how he lost weight. He said it’s called the “support” diet. 😂 He eats what I feed him, which is what I’m eating. He loves that stuff. I never did. But he’s trying to do what I do to a point.
Banza pasta has a HUGE amount of glyphosate in it. Brown rice has 80% more arsenic than white rice. Remove the hull like they’ve been doing for thousands of years and wash the rice till the water is clear. Explain why nightshades are bad for weight loss? Also explain you stance on dairy, especially raw dairy products. Cottage cheese is having a moment now and protein consumption is a must for those on a GLP-1, and these products help patients consume more protein and preserve precious muscle tissue.
Banza - What??!? Ohnoooooo
Thank you Dr Stirrett for doing a grocery store walk thru. I am starting my GLP-1 journey next week and it really helps to know what to eat and avoid. Please keep doing these types of video's and if you can also recommend what to eat when dining out would help also.
Great idea thank you for the recommendation :)
Yes that would be very helpful because my family likes to go out to eat and I feel like I’m stuck with knowing what to do
Very informative! I start semaglutide Monday. Going grocery shopping today. I generally eat very well! Very clean diet. Majority fruits and veggies. Very low carbs. High proteins.
Prior to semaglutide I ate low carb and fairly cleanly. However I discovered my tastebuds have changed. Most of the food I loved to eat before I no longer enjoy. I have had very harsh reactions to broccoli and spices. How is it going with you?
@@MaryD-hk3gm my taste buds have changed to be honest!! I don’t enjoy spicy foods either. It has caused me gnarly acid. I also already was eating clean so even on my cheat day for example I usually would have a pick 5 at a Wendy’s and literally the only thing I wanted was a plain burger with the veggies on it. And I was fine with that!! But over all it has turned down the food noise for me.. not a totally terrible experience to be completely honest with you!
Thank you for "looking like a weirdo" and providing such invaluable information on what to eat and avoid. I needed this.
Thank you Dr. For thia videos, they can make a difference for people who want the right information.
My 1st thought is that meat section!!
Who has a grocery store that looks like this??!!
How amazing!!
Everywhere in Texas

I would be SO INTERESTED in your family grocery hauls!!
Why no peppers?
I’m down 26 lbs. avoiding processed foods, no grains, no simple carbs, no fruit (except berries), eating steak, ground beef, sardines, tuna, chicken, non-starchy vegetables, some nuts, using olive oil, butter, ghee, kombucha (not too much-like half a bottle a day), tea, heavy cream, allulose for sugar rarely. The other thing that has been hugely helpful is using a trial of a Dexcom CGM (continuous glucose monitor).
It’s “Lay-goom” for legume. 😂😂😂 Do you say “tar-zhay” for Target? 😂
Haha you know it. lol.
Yes, please more grocery shopping. What snacks are you eating? Can we have any? I just started my first dose last week and feel the same… not sure why
They started you off on a low dose to get you body used to it. Next month when they up your dose you will really feel not hungry or snackish. Stick to high protein Snacks. I start off in the morning with a high protein shake (30 grams protein) I do low fat cheese or mozzarella sticks, strawberry, blueberries, sugar free snacks or drink packets, I also do quest protein chips and salsa or those little guacamole singles. Focus on high protein low fat snacks. Low carb Oh and big one I snack on are those little veggie trays. Those are safe. You know how you can eat Chinese food and be hungry an hour later? Well if you eat the veggie tray it won’t stick and you also won’t be hungry after on semaglutides. Stay away from tropical fruits. Also low sugar Greek yogurt is great
@@Imadroidgirl thanks, appreciate the feedback!
@@lil_KimFLof course good luck with your weight loss
yes please! more videos like this.
Great video! In general just good nutritional tips…I am going to try to cut down on my nightshades. Although I know I just can’t give up a nice fresh tomato in my salad. Guess I’ll be passing on the peppers though.
I would love to hear more about fruits...berries, watermelon, peaches, pineapple, etc.
Why?????🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@CeliaSpain130 so I can follow the plan of course
@nancymatthews4721 well stay away from watermelon too much sugar
@@beth2500 there's really nothing that grows from a plant that has to be avoided but portion size and frequency is what matters. Thanks for your input
@@beth2500a 8 oz of watermelon is only like 80 calories so it can’t have THAT much sugar, can it? I have a horrible sugar, addiction and fruit like watermelon, grapes, apples, etc. really help me.
Your vids are very helpful, clear and informative. What about eggs? Do you recommend them? Why or why not? What kind are best?
yes for sure, more grocery shopping. struggling here variety, especially since nightshade is off the table 😭. Maybe deep dive and focus on one food type... veggies for starters. Also are there ANY pre packaged "healthy" frozen dinners? I work graveyard and sometimes need to grab something quick. I prioritize my sleep so pre making doesn't always work for me. Thanks, I just found your channel and like the information very much.
when i make one of these , i prep a whole lot of spinach, mushrooms, onions , chopped peppers and get a couple of meals out of one of these. the flavour is fun and blending in keeps the nutrients flowing
Thank you for posting these! I am on week 4 of compounded semaglutide and I've only seen 2.5lbs lost. I already eat healthy with mostly protein in my diet along with exercise for 4 days a week. I hope once my dosage goes from 10mg to 20mg, I will see a more viable weight-loss count.
Again, thank you for posting these helpful videos!
Same… I’m on week 7 and lost 7lbs. started 20 units 2 weeks ago. I’m not hungry at all and hoping to start seeing a difference on this dose.
@You-r-amazing I am on week 10 and lost 10 pounds. I was expecting to lose more but I am happy to have lost the 10lbs. They say slow is better to keep it off.
@@streetsmart6 Thank you! 10lbs is fantastic!
This helped me a lot. I have a food aversion towards things like lettuce and tomato, and seeing a lot of these options being something I could actually eat and still lose weight makes me happy.
Absolutely LOVE your videos! So much to learn on this journey. Thanks for your hard work and dedication to helping us all win!
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoy them!
Thank you for the tips. I would have liked the reason behind no peppers and no ground turkey🤷♀️
I found they just don’t digest well anymore. Actually made me sick.
Yes please… I’m curious why no nightshades…
I took an interested in why no peppers. I often snack on the mini colorful peppers. Yellow, red and orange.
What’s wrong with turkey? More explanations would be great thanks
Oh my goodness, I was so disappointed when the video ended! YES!!! we need more options please! Can you add in snack options, also are Celsius' okay? Thank you again! You are awesome!
Thank you for making this video! ❤how thoughtful
Thank you for this! Why are we avoiding tomatoes? I didn't get that
Many people end up relying on protein drinks/powders for at least 1 meal when using the GLP-1s How do you feel about those?
Especially with dairy
I'd like to know that too... The dairy part I already no, "no to dairy" I cut that out. I need to know if I can use the protein drinks once a day.
My doctor says the vegan protein shakes with 2 grams of sugar are great!!
Thanks! I just had my first injection today. Time to shop.
Thank you for the great video and taking the time to go and film in public, I know I wouldn’t be able to do it so triple the appreciation for that 🫶
A Costco series would be amazing.
I cut all dairies except for some nature greek yogourt, would it be better to cut it entirely?
I love your helpful videos. I’m on the weight loss journey. Doing well but I have learned a lot from you.
We have fresh tomatoes from our garden and I was eating one every. And my weight loss was stalked out.
Now I’m back to losing ! Thank you. 💪💪
Curious on the less ground turkey?
YOYOYO !!! Good info Dr, l liked your comment about walking around with the cell, l do it myself for my channel so dont feel bad at all, do it for your viewers and you did had employees following you around the aisles, lol. Keep this vlogs coming , til next time. Eddie
I eat cherries every day as it helps with constipation for me. Stay with whole food. Protein. Carnivore mostly No 🍷. But, will have a vodka and soda with lime occasionally. Lean meat and no fried foods.
I buy cherries in bulk remove the seed and freeze them they are a great snack
@@luella8045 great idea
Thank you for this informative video. I’m a beef lover (I’m a Texan). I find giving up the tomatoes to be hard. Love them but I don’t need any inflammation
I like this easy to follow approach and the specificity of your advice!!
I heard free-range chicken isn’t really better because the chickens aren’t actually roaming free. Their chicken coop has a small window and the chicken has the option to find it and go outside, but most never know there is a window there and never leave the coop. Do a google search of the main chicken suppliers if you’d like more info.
How do you feel about adding digestive enzymes to help with some of the digestion challenges?
I already knew a lot of these tips but some I didn’t. Great video-thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!
Please explain how tomatoes stall weight loss
The only way I’m eating a sweet potato is with brown sugar and marshmallows so not a good idea. 😂😂😂
Why do you need marshmallows and sugar? Sweet potatoes are sweet on their own. They are great with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice and a little oil. Cold pressed virgin olive oil is good.
If you really must have a little sugar, mix a teaspoon or 2 in with your spices and sprinkle on your sweet potato.
Many great sweet potato options with good seasoning.
@@jacquelyns9709 cause sweet potatoes taste like crap imo
I’ve lost 13lbs since June 7th. Without the drug started it 3 days ago, should help me even more.
I would like to see a guide on vegan options, I’m not eating any animal protein, no dairy , no and low salt and sugar. I do enjoy fish & chickpeas. Week one I have lost 6 pounds
Soda, coffee & ice cream have been the hardest things for me to cut out. I always had one soda with dinner. I dont like black coffee. I like cream & sugar. I won’t give it up. So I let myself have a cup when I drop weight. So that’s been the hardest! Ice cream I can do without. I love it but I don’t crave it like I do soda or coffee. I’ve been doing plain hot tea with dinner. Bleh! So hearing that I can have a little soda with dinner makes me very happy. 😊
I literally eat ice cream every single night after dinner while I’m watching TV! Lol i’m super obsessed with it🤣 I started making myself a mocha iced coffee at night! I use the new Nestlé iced instant coffee granules. they are so amazing and I put a little bit of almond milk and some sugar-free mocha syrup and a tablespoon of butter pecan. It is so delicious and gives me that sweetness I need! Sometimes I even blend it to make a frozen coffee like Dunkin’ Donuts!
And I substituted my soda with the flavored fizzy waters from Walmart ! They are so freaking delicious and I love to mix the starburst packs inside of them as well!
Following keto rules (whole cream/ rebel ice cream) can help ur lifestyle change
Why did you skip over the low-glycemic berries? It’s summer- you only talked about apples and bananas?
Thank you for this!
Thanks so much! 🙂 Liked an Subscribed! 🎉
Love your videos. Can you do an example of a meal plan when on semaglutide. It’s hard trying to get enough protein and calories when you’re not hungry. Question this heatwave is horrid can we have watermelon or pineapple?
I’m doing my best trying to lose weight and I appreciate all your help on these videos, but I’m still getting a bit discouraged. But I’m trying to stay positive.
Sorry to hear that my friend. Dont lose hope :)
thank you for the information i love it...........
Can I do a carnivore diet while taking it ? I’m starting tomorrow just curious ?
What is the aversion to nightshades? I am working with a nutritionist while on glp-1 and my food list is almost exactly as shown. The only two differences (from them) 1. Nightshades are ok and 2. Lean beef.
Wondering the same thing.
Honestly, they don’t digest well and every time I’ve had them lately I throw up for hours.
No wine? No problem! No cheese? You just broke my frikken heart!!!!!!
any tips for the vegetarians? cant get any of the glp-1s.covered by insurance and can’t afford it otherwise but i’m curious nonetheless

What about sparkling water like Pierre
So far I have lost 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks being on Wegovy 🎉 I don't have an appetite
Congratulations! Keep up the good work 😊
How about steakums?
This is week two for me, I made a whole pot of chili to eat is this good or not good
That grocery store is so clean!
Why are bell peppers not recommend?
Why are bell peppers a no? Just curious.
Yeah , he only half explains some food items.
Tomatoes! I love them one month out. I'd rather have them in place of watermelon
New subscriber here!!! Hoping to start Wegovy in the next 2 weeks.
No tomato? Oof....Im curious as to why tomatoes are off the list. Is a slice here and there bad?
What lunch meat would you recommend
I'm on Sema and found this to be helpful. I'm curious; can you explain why you prefer chicken over turkey and ground beef over chicken? Also, what about fish?
Hello, from Aus. Wondering if you can assist. Not losing any weight and have been on ozempic for three months. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Hi, thank you for reaching out. We have a course and weight loss program that is specific to losing weigh on Ozempic if that helps! www.bluewatermednw.com/semaglutide-secrets
Did I miss something but you didn’t mention fish …salmon, sardines, etc… I’m doing my best trying to lose weight and I appreciate all your help on these videos, but I’m still getting a bit discouraged. But I’m trying to stay positive.
Huge fan of fish, salmon, and sardines! I just didnt mention them in the video on this round. Next time!
What's wrong with bell peppers? 😭
Exactly 🙄
Now yall gonna come up with a diet for those on semiglu come on give me a break 😡🙄🙄
yeah, this was confusing to me to have no explanation for.
May I ask why no to bell peppers???
Really helpful! Thank you. Can you suggest a food tracking app that is simple to use? 😊
Glad you liked it! I typically recommend My Fitness Pal for tracking. But there are a number of free apps that are similar.
I am new to the channel, so wanted to hear your thoughts on why leaning towards beef over chicken. It may be something you have covered in previous videos, but any quick notes on that while I have a look into the library?
What frozen foods do you recommend
A lot of questions about this. What if you don't eat animals, my doctor thinks the worst thing you can eat is animal protein and has recommended a plant based diet to lower cholesterol. If you are saying I can't eat chick peas, then I am stuck for protein. I am also confused about tomatoes. I thought a Mediterranean diet is one of the most healthy diets, aren't tomatoes full of antioxidants? Italians eat tomatoes every day all day long... When you get off GLP-! you have to be able to maintain your weight, how can a person just eat meat and certain fruits and veg, sweet potatoes and brown rice? It sounds like a diet not a life.
Why no red, green or yellow peppers????
I’m sorry but I don’t have any room for sweet potatoes in my gut. When I’m hungry I can eat about 6-8 bites of food. I stick to low fat, low carb high protein very low sugar. If I eat fruit it’s only strawberries and blueberries. Protein shakes in the morning with my coffee 😊🎉
What about grapes?
How about plantains and cassava/yucca?
Thanks for all your insights
What about yoghurt
What is wrong with tomatos, and eggplant? What about yogurt, greek yogurt with granola as a snack or after a workout?
Raw Apples are fine, applesauce that is processed that can somewhat lead to constipation. It's applesauce that is used for diarrhea.
Dr. Stirrett did you say not to eat potatoes, eggplant and tomatoes? Im not sure what you said about nitrate vegetables..
Nightshade (not nitrate 😉) vegetables cause inflammation like tomatoes etc that’s why he advises to avoid them
Thought oat milk was bad since it spikes blood sugar
Thank you for this video.
I cut out all breads and dairy. My dinner usually consist of mixed baby greens salad and a sirloin burger patty.
What fruit is friendly on this diet?
Berries
I'm curious why no nightshades?
In my year on Mounjaro, I frequently eat bell peppers almost weekly What’s wrong with them
What about watermelon?
I'd love to have a video on your thoughts on any dangers from using compounded tirzepatide (Eli Lily has the FDA involved and say it's not safe). I'd also like to see a video on treating considerable fatigue from taking terzepatide.
My main difficulty is getting rid of soda. After years trying I finally got rid of normal Coca-Cola and changed to Coca Zero, and interchange with Seven Up Zero. But I cant go futher from that without losing my humor/anxiety trough the day. A part from other issues, focusing only about weight loss with Wegovy, how it affect me? Also, what about grapes or mandarin orange instead of apples?
Have you tried using a soda stream? For fizzy alternatives...
Just do it. Go cold turkey. Just like quitting smoking. Just don’t buy it. Don’t keep it in the house.
Maybe try drinking less and less until you don't crave it, replacing with sparkling flavored water
Thanks for all your advice!
Could you help us with sources of protein besides the meat.
Thoughts about shakes, bars, cereal etc.
Noted! Thank you for the request. Thats definitely worth a video!
@@dr.stirrett you’re the best!
I disagree with you big time
Can I eat oranges and carrots?
Keto, ketovore & carnivore are good diets for this drug. That's good to know, except for butter, I'll miss that kerrigold.
Why is kerrigold not good
I'm allergic to soy and have a really tough time finding chicken that hasn't been fed soy. My doctor says absolutely no one should be eating soy or anything that's been fed soy. Yet...everything has it...ugh. I would eat much more chicken/eggs if I could find some that aren't fed soy and are somewhat affordable.
Try to find an Amish or Mennonite grocery store. They have the healthy meat. Their chicken is so healthy it’s actually pink.
@@Jabo-rq2kh Thank you!!
I'm wondering if it's ok to eat oatmeal with berries for breakfast. I have been having side effect of constipation. Hearing you say cheese is bad for us on Tzipetide...is cottage cheese and Greek yogurt a part of this category? I've been struggling with eating enough protein. I'd like to see more ideas on how to increase protein even some recipes would be great as well. I just found your videos and watched this one and plan to watch more. It's been a struggle to know what to eat for best results. I've only lost 7 lbs in 5 weeks. Not much is online about what to eat and why it's best. Thank you for your help! 😊
Why away from ground turkey and back toward beef?
