Thank you for sharing this review! I have looked at doing thrive market a few times but it’s frustrating that they don’t let you see what they actually offer before you join. I don’t want to pay $5 to find out that I don’t actually want to purchase anything! It’s helpful to see what they offer!
I agree with another comment that I would have tried this a long time ago if they allowed viewing the products before you join. It was a major negative that they charged you for shipping when it was basically their fault. The $5 per month isn’t a deterrent for me, because I wouldn’t order if I didn’t meet the threshold. I avoid grocery shopping at all costs so this could be a good additional resource.
I won't join this due to the fact they will not allow you to browse the site before deciding if you wish to join. They want your credit card info before even allowing you to look. Now why would Anyone give your personal financial info just to look at something. They were very rude when I questioned this practice.
I read a lot of reviews. People were saying they cannot cancel their subscriptions or get a hold of anyone to help them. I was hoping that this would be where I get my groceries but it's just a bunch of snacks 🙄
thanks for sharing ur experience, especially about the fact that they charged u an extra $20 in shipping without being up front about it. this is something that definitely will make me reconsider
My main goal is to replace all my kids school lunch snacks with those that don’t have food coloring or refined oils so live been considering this. But it’s super irritating that they don’t let you read the ingredients or see any of the products until you pay to sign up. I also have no way of knowing how much shipping is so I think I’ll just pass. I’m on a very tight weekly allowance and can barely afford groceries on it as it is and having all these surprise costs is just not an option. It could over draft my account.
I have been shopping Thrive Market for a year now and never had anything on auto ship. I am very happy with everything we have received. I have never ordered a frozen box.
I find it a bit weird to pay money to be able to BUY stuff from an online supermarket. And then hearing you don't have standard free shipping is even more weird. It's just strange, it's like standing in front of the entrance at a normal supermarket but you can only get in if you give the bouncer 5 dollars. 😂
I agree! They are going for a Costco "the membership is where we make our money" feel, but with an online shop, we expect Amazon Prime benefits. I just did my first order, and I don't know how I feel about it yet. They have a "store brand," which is expensive compared to most stores, but ingredient-wise, they are competing against pricier health brands.
Haha it just hit me that even if things are “cheaper” on Thrive you’re still paying the same amount you would in store or delivered like Instacart bc those don’t require to pay for a membership. So it’s like that technically goes to the extra amount that is “more expensive” elsewhere. Well played Thrive, well played.
All depends on how much you buy and how often. $5 is not much. I’d rather pay $5 a month than go to Walmart or Aldi once a week. I don’t have any Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s around. It all depends on what it’s worth to you.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I saw the ad yesterday, but have been frustrated by the inability to SEE what they offer without joining. Small family with dietary issues so I have to expect (without being able to tell otherwise) that very few things would be an option to purchase whether in-stock or not. Plus some of those things I probably already get discounted from my employer or can more easily get at Costco without having to worry about porch thieves to boot. Due to this alone, will likely pass. The problems with shipping are troubling even with their compensating you. What they SHOULD have done was held the order while immediately emailing you that enough items were out-of-stock and this took you out of free shipping "Do you still wish to complete the order with shipping costs included?" then give you at least 48 hours to decide. THAT would have been a good business practice.
Thank you for taking the time to do this review. I think it would be helpful to add the information that thrive does accept EBT . Also it was very simple to apply for a free subscription due to any hardships, such as needing financial assistance like EBT. They gifted me a free subscription for an entire year within 5 minutes! Also their customer service is very quick and very helpful. I spoke to wonderful,, supportive people that helped me make everything not only easily accessible but also very affordable with frequent discounts and free products. I highly recommend this company for those on a budget who would like to eat healthy food at an affordable rate. Also delivered straight to your door? For we disabled folks this is a huge bonus. Thank you, Thrive! 😃❤️🙏
I want to let people know that they take EBT! If like myself you have mobility and transportation issues, this is a big plus. Also, you can apply for a free membership. Someone who gets a membership for themselves also gives a free membership to someone like me who is in need. I want to say thank you. I made my first order and the box is on the way due to your generosity.
So I gotta pay either $120 a year or $60 upfront and then I still have to pay for the items and shipping? So it's a membership just to shop there? Talk about a scam.
Difference is you are Allowed to actually see the items and the prices before having to buy the membership. Not after giving your credit card numbers. Plus there are many other benefits. So no you don't get it shipped. UT you don't have to deal with sneaky fees and customer service.
Thanks for your honest review! The freezer box situation would have made me very mad haha. Im still curious about what products are good to buy through them, so more videos on Thrive would be appreciated!
I'd been thinking of trying Thrive out for some time...after watching your video I signed up, took 20 minutes until I canceled the membership (which you have to do over chat or phone, there is no button to click to cancel). Here's what swayed me to cancel... the link for 40 off, didn't work, when I initially clicked the link, I saw it said 40 off, then after i signed up, it was magically 20% off, up to a max of $20. For frozen items, there is a $20 delivery fee which is waived if your frozen item total is at least $120. The selection was not there for me to get to 120 for just frozen goods, I did try. In general I didn't think there was much of a selection. There's no produce, no dairy. The prices, not that great. They preselect your cart, I didn't see a way to opt out of that and didn't like it, maybe there was a way... I was just not happy at this point and decided to cancel and was more annoyed that I had to chat with someone and say no to the various discounts they were then willing to give me. But at least I tried it, back to Hungryroot.
@@ThePresentation010 I like it, they are unique in that they let you select items individually or based off recipes. You do pick a plan in the beginning, but each week, you can pick as much or little as you want. They do charge you per your plan if you choose less and credit you the following week. They do allow you to skip weeks. They do prefill your cart, so you need to check it before the cut off. YOU CAN REMOVE AND ADD WHATEVER YOU WANT. before the weekly cutoff. I cook for one, so I want easy but healthy and they have that. I usually pick items I like and browse recipes. When you pick a recipe, it's not a prepared food item, it's all the ingredients for that recipe go into your cart, they also let you edit ingredients. Their recipes are, for example... chili lime chicken over rice with brocolli... that will come with two precooked chicken breasts, clhili lime sauce, one of those bags of precooked rice you heat up, and a bag of fresh brocalli, heat it all up and throw it together, done. They do send instructions for the meals you pick. They have produce, dailry, meat that is precooked and meat that is raw, condiment section that is all kinds of sauces, breads , pastas' and grains,,, snacks, prepared items etc.. Everything is based off points, they hide how much your actually spending on things, it seems 1 point is about 2 dollars.
Thank you for sharing this review; I have been considering Thrive because they offer organic and cleaner products but I think I'll look for something that has more options.
Hi Sophie! Great honest video! We love thrive market! I have been using them for several years. Their French roast whole bean coffee is amazing! We buy it on auto ship every six weeks! You’re right it does come even more discounted by doing AutoShip! Several other things I buy from them…. including their spicy brown mustard, primal kitchen ketchup, all of my baking needs like flour and sugar and of course all my spices. I love that they come in bulk packaging and are easily discounted. I would love if they would start offering more and better deals on their frozen food as well. I would be Open and seriously consider doing a frozen box if they would up their game! Thanks for a great review and yes I would be happy to see your monthly unboxedings!
5:46 okay thanks you talked me outa using them, i can just got to natural grocers instead which they don’t have the best variety thats y i was hoping to start using thrive

i tried thrive market with a referral code from another content creator i follow & unfortunately had problems from the get-go. i had to go through the customer service to get the price adjusted because i was charged full price. got that taken care of & tried to do my shopping. i was on a keto diet at the time & many of the items i was trying to source from thrive were always out of stock. i couldn’t hit the minimum threshold to qualify for the free shipping so my cart sat for two months. i ended up canceling because my local grocery store has a robust healthy food section & they started carrying most of what i was trying to order from thrive. did it cost a few cents more? yeah. but my local grocer offers free curbside pickup so i couldn’t rationalize keeping the subscription *in hopes* that my items would come back in stock so that i could make my cart minimum without adding a bunch of random stuff to the basket. i had high hopes for thrive but it didn’t work out in my situation. i’ll keep watching your unboxing videos, though! 😅
Similar issues. Also, in the one box I got, one of the packages had been slit, so there was a big mess inside the box. Also, I didn’t notice that much of savings in the items I could get. I noticed nut pod coffee creamer was more expensive at Thrive than it sold for a at Publix. No thanks.
Well I'm glad I got to see an honest review. This seems like a luxury for people with money. Thank God I saw this before subscribing. This is terrible for low income families. And I've been reading that people can't cancel their subscriptions.
We've never tried Thrive or any of the other "boxes" out there. We don't buy a lot of name brand items, so we've never felt like it would be worth it for us. Great video, though. 😊
I like you struggle to drink enough water have you tried the waterdrop system? They have a lot of clean water mixins. The glass bottles are pretty too. I really like the peach/giner flavor of the ones I've tried.

I hope the people from Thrive market are reading these comments because I just went to do it and I said wait a minute. They just want me to just pay. They don’t wanna show me anything. The options are what I might be getting just like some kind of preview their just like “give me a credit card” pay it now! it’s like hello. Can I see what you’re gonna give me? Can I see what’s coming to me, anything?😂
Really great point and I agree, the not showing what is on the site is frustrating, I wonder if a part 2 to this video actually showing the website might be helpful?
Thrive market won't save you any money, and they actually didn't give mine back after I wasn't able to find anything worth buying. Shady company, don't honor thwir cancellation and refund policy. Thrive Sucks beware!

completely agreed!!!!
For real lol canceling our Wholesale membership to possibly do this..
Most companies force you to pay to look. But I think maybe they can refund you if you call right away that you see you don't want anything.
Yeah I tried to, it was frustrating.

Try Aldi brands! They won’t allow due in their branded food

This is a new thing because when I was a member years ago, you didn’t have to pay to view their products
Sounds like places like costco
Sounds like cuba to me
You can get a refund if after yo using up you don’t like their products.
I’ve been using thrive for pantry/household and Butcherbox for meat!

How much does a loaf of Food for Life Ezekiel 4:9 bread cost? Its $4.50 at my local trader joes. Can you tell me how much you're seeing it on Thrive?
Wow that is a crazy good price! Thrive will price match!

How do you apply for a free membership? I'm on a fixed income so 60.00 is a lot for me at once.
So I gotta pay either $120 a year or $60 upfront and then I still have to pay for the items and shipping? So it's a membership just to shop there? Talk about a scam.
Literally was about to subscribe but then saw this comment. I thought it was like 60 up front and then you get x amount of things per month.
It’s $60 for a year of shopping and you get a $60 gift when you sign up
How is this different from sams club or Costco memberships? I don't see people complaining about those stores and it's the same thing, isn't it?
Difference is you are Allowed to actually see the items and the prices before having to buy the membership. Not after giving your credit card numbers. Plus there are many other benefits. So no you don't get it shipped. UT you don't have to deal with sneaky fees and customer service.
Thanks for explaining. I’m out! ✌️
Thx, friend. You've convinced me to subscribe to Thrive. Your review was SUPER helpful.
Glad to hear it!
7mins in and the shipping issue and customer service was enough to not even consider Thrive Market
Glad it was helpful for you to make your decision!

I refuse to jump through hoops.

Great video! Can you do a follow up video on your experience with Thrive market?
Absolutely!
Super helpful, thank you! I almost subscribed to Thrive but this helped me learn I don’t think it’s for me.
Hi and thank you for sharing. I've been thinking about trying Thrive Market. I'm still on the fence; but, thank you for your honest review 😊❤

We unfortunately do not have anything other than Walmart near us. Do you have other recommendations of a healthier online shop?
I like the products offered by Thrive but also had a shipping issue. I got the notice my autoship would be packed in a few days, went in and edited it that day, and 3 days later when my box shipped it had the original items not the edited ones. Crazy how less ingredients is more money but more ingredients equals cheaper price
She doesn’t actually start unboxing until 8:08. Youre welcome.

Great review. I appreciate this. Especially the shipping aspect. I almost got a membership today, but it’s not worth it. They don’t allow you to look through their products before you get a membership and that’s a red flag to me. I feel I would be spending more buying things I don’t need
I have thrive but I never use autoship my order changes to much so never really thought it makes sense have to look into the discount tho again
Anyone know of a similar thing to this ? I wanted to try them out but after watching a couple videos and researching, I don’t think this is for me.
That is aweful. Not your fault things are out and they charged shipping. They should put other items that are similar and similar price.

The options are what I might be getting just like some kind of preview their just like “give me a credit card” pay it now! it’s like hello. Can I see what you’re gonna give me? Can I see what’s coming to me, anything?😂
Really great point and I agree, the not showing what is on the site is frustrating, I wonder if a part 2 to this video actually showing the website might be helpful?
i would like to see what is on their site before i join
You can see their site without an account
Thrive market won't save you any money, and they actually didn't give mine back after I wasn't able to find anything worth buying. Shady company, don't honor thwir cancellation and refund policy. Thrive Sucks beware!
Wow that is terrible that they didn't honor it for you...
So helpful
I just hate that you can’t see their products before you subscribe
They sell that milk at sprouts
Are you still subscribed?
Just shop Whole Foods 😂
😊
I thought about joining Thrive, but based on your video, I will NOT be joining.
Love that this helped you make your decision!
I’m sorry because you buy “a lot” you think you should get free shipping…of course you do…hilarious!
They use the free shipping as a selling point. When they charge you shipping because of their screw up its a problem
You can't even see what they have online without joining. So, it's a no from me.
Agree that part is very frustrating!!
Agreed
Thank you for the honest review!
