It was a genius move by DreamWorks to mostly only show the Megamind vs Metroman stuff in the trailers to keep the rest of the movie a genuine surprise.
unlike what they did with teenage kraken which was basically spoil the entire movie from the trailer.

MetroMan is a really deep character when you think about it. Like, you expect him to be the selfish, pompous asshole, and after the reveal that he’s still alive, you could easily still believe that, but when you actually take the time to dissect his reason for retiring, you realize that he’s actually a really cool dude.
Like, he was fully aware that MegaMind was only doing this because it was an act, and he was aware that he pushed him into doing that, when they were kids. He knows MegaMind has the capacity to be better, but so long as MetroMan is around, MegaMind will never be able to be better, so he can’t just retire. He knew that MegaMind had to realize these things about himself on his own. And he trusted MegaMind to defeat the true villain, in the end.
You could write an entire high school essay that would knock the socks off of your English teacher about his character.
Like, it says so much about his character, that the new job he chooses is music, something he sucks at, and will have to improve at, without any help from his powers.

Plus, Megamind had the advantage that Tighten didn't understand the true potential of his powers. MetroMan had them for his whole life, so he was able to effectively stop time to reflect and meditate on his decisions, coming to peace with himself. Tighten was basically throwing a tantrum and being greedy and angry without thinking. MetroMan knew that Megamind had the wits to defeat such a manchild.
You can also see something brief from the tiny interactions he has with his parents as a baby. Like you could go full analysis of this scene and talk about how both of his parents in that scene see him as an object and how that might have pushed him towards being a people pleaser.
MetroMan is a favorite
Megamind is the type of movie you skip watching in your childhood and finally watch as an adult to appreciate it fully. A total gem
I remember not liking it as much when I was younger but on a rewatch it’s really one of my favs from dreamworks
Watched it in the cinema back then and loved it
Saw it in 3D when it came out and it blew my mind
I had a dvd back in the day and as a kid it was my favorite movie, it still is until this day
I caught it on free TV as a kid and I was obsessed with this movie.
Fun fact: Roxanne, her dress is red because she likes Metroman, then her dress is purple because she has mixed emotions about Metroman and Megamind, and then her dress is blue because she likes Megamind
Roxane never liked Metroman in that way at all, she said it herself in the movie. Red just symbolizes as the opposite of blue meaning she dislikes Megamind at the beginning, in the middle it becomes mixed feelings for Megamind (purple), then blue for fully liking Megamind.

1. Megamind is a masterpiece. Nuff said
2. What I love about Metroman in this movie is that its left up to the audience to decide whether he was in the wrong or not.
On one hand, yeah, faking his death and leaving Metro City to fend for itself was horrible.
But on the other hand, he had a point. He never got to pick what *he* wanted to be and nobody had the right to ask him to be a superhero and dedicate his entire existence to people he doesn't know.
Also you could make the argument that, after fighting him for *years* Metroman figured Megamind wasn't actually an evil guy , just someone who wanted to be loved and who had the capacity to be good if given the right push.
I also love that he is *horrible* at being a musician. Yeah, its played for laughs, but ,think about it, its something he's *not* good at, unlike literally everything else in his life. Its something he can actually learn, struggle with and find fullfillment in through actually *earning* his skill.
3. Hal was hillarious. Seeing this absolute #niceguy-esque dumbarse have all the power of an alien demigod is *brilliant* . Unironically a villain that was ahead of his time.
4. I love the way Megamind and Roxanne's relationship develops. She doesn't forgive him or reconcile with him after learning who he is. It takes a while for the wounds to heal and for her to accept that he really *did* become a better person for and because of *her* .
5. Us and Megamind not knowing what his parents said is a pretty good summation of the movie's theme. You're free to think it was all destiny and that megamind was meant for greatness or that Megamind's own free will determined his greatness. Both are *completely* valid. And I like that we never get a clear answer.
This is the most intricately thoughtful worded comment about megamind I’ve ever seen. Beautiful take on dreamwork’s magnum opus

Some other video had pointed out but the color of Roxanne dress slowly shifted from red to blue to signify her closeness to megamind
It is incredibly likely that Metromans decision to leave was influences by his knowledge that Megamind just isnt evil which is demonstrated when they find his hide out and Metroman calls him little buddy, and tries to inspire him to heroism. Metroman geniunely seems to understand Megaminds character better than even Megamind. Just like Megamind seemingly understand Metroman enough to nail his dramatic entrances and one liners.
Fun fact if you look at the large screens of when Roxanne and Megamind are projected, when he says “FIRE-“ You can see a flicker. That’s Metroman doing his super speed.
Clearly this is before the news of Megamind 2 came

Hal is just more disturbing the older you get and come to understand all his tendencies. Even without superpowers, I wouldn't have been surprised if he got put in prison for trying to kill or S.A. Roxanne one day.

Seeing the ending of the movie where there is thousands of people, just to see the new show not even have a single soul on the streets is insane. Not only couldn’t they get the original cast they could’ve even get the background characters either 😭
Megamind was SOOOO underrated when it came out. Good movies stand tall on their own, even through the test of time. People will always come back around for a good movie. Megamind is brilliantly done and I love it. I love the kind of villain Hal is, the kind of Hero Megamind is. The whole theme of the movie of Hal, Megamind and Metroman is that they all are pretending in some way of being something they're not. Hal's tired of being a 4chan simp, Metroman is tired of being Metroman and Megamind wants to be Megagood. Roxanne has some good arcs, but I suppose she just learns to be more open. She was always the type to not judge books by their cover but by the content.
Movie has a lot to talk about, and the fact I can remember all the characters names mean they're memorable characters. Glad milk boys watched it
