Thanks for visiting our smart home! We had fun showing you around!
@@etrmediaWould love you know one little thing. Could you say how you got data from the PLC sent over MQTT ?
@@Doodmeister0 Sure thing! The Productivity PLC line has built-in MQTT support, so I just took my desired data, put it into strings, and published it to my Home Assistant that's running the Mosquitto broker.
The flow meter link is non working in Italy could you please write the name of the product?
@@LorenzoCastellani It's an Endress Hauser DMA20-AAACA1
These automations are epic, bowing down in awe. Love these home tours, no better way to feel completely inferior with home automation.
I’m a project engineer for a room management company for hotels. We deal with all the automations in the rooms. There’s so many new automations I want after starting this job
I love these tours. It's awesome to see what other people are doing, how they did it, and why. It's like the perfect blend of HGTV home tours with smart home stuff thrown in!
The offhand 'realfeel temperature' mention got me to finally figure out the calculations to take humidity into account when powering on my A/C unit. Thanks!
I’ve been eyeballing my kettle for a while now wanting to go the ESP32 route. I’m going for it after seeing this. I hope we get to see more from Chris and Janna. Great stuff!
Me too. I have also had isea about using esp32 to make my heated mattress pad come on to warm up bed. Really would like to find how he wired esp to kettle also.
@@markross5389 There are some projects out there that I used as an inspiration. Home-Barista has an article about doing that with the Bonavita kettle that you can google (RUclips isn't letting me post links). I took the one from that site and added up/down/hold button control (my wife drinks tea, and I drink coffee, so we need to change the kettle temperature all the time) as well as relay feedback so I can be notified when the kettle has heated.
I would also like to know how he wire the kettle. I was thinking of doing the same thing to just turn it on and off but it would be awesome to know how to control the temp.
@@GreerViau same here. please share more detail!
Some more detail of which kettle he used, how he wired it and the esphome code would be awesome
Wow this was a great example of your house working for you, making your life simpler! Loved every one of the shown automations and aligns very well with stuff I'm currently doing with esphome and being able to locally control my own hardware. Very special background which certainly helps a lot!
As an Industrial Automation Engineer, I approve. Also, Automation Direct is fantastic.
Cool to see a more industrial home automation system.
YoLink devices are part of my system and work so well from distance. Their fobs are multi button smarts that all play pretty well with alexa routines or on their own. Their sensors only one that worked for my outdoor driveway sensor and temp sensor only one I found reliable for my freezer alert from garage. is a nice setup. My setup not so detailed. They did a nice job on their place with solutions.
These guys have style. Love that gate automation as well as control panel. That hvac room rocks!
loved this video, from a technical perspective with the pretty unusual integration of industiral equipment, but also the shots of their green garden, yard and the horses.
As an employee for E+H.... This man has a LOT of money in sensors from us.
Beyond nice and functional setup Chris.
LoRa is no joke for stable, long range connections for these type of devices. I was testing some of YoLink's water sensor and I went way down our street and it was still connected.
Some very cool and unique automations here!
Also the spouse approval is probably the most important part of any smart home 😅🤣
I love seeing products and automations I dont know or haven't thought of before. 👍
Nice smarthome and a good episode 😊
I would love to see a tutorial around the kettle automation/modifications!
These are the best videos. Keep doing more smart home tours!
Awesome home tour! Thanks, Reid and everybody else. It's a beautiful home. My favorite is the Motion Sensor at the beginning of the driveway! Can’t wait to see more home tours. Awesome home tour! As an industrial automation engineer starting with home automation - I get this guy :D
Brilliant! I love the tours. Keep them coming!
This is great. Exactly what I was looking for and some I want! Thanks for sharing.
Finally! I just love your smart home tour videos.
Best one yet! Love this series
Those automations are wild and that property is beautiful.
I like the use of colors for notifications and sensors both indoors/outdoors
Added to the smart home playlist
See you at CES!!
Thanks Brandon! Yes see you soon!
Wow! Fantastic example of a successful and super useful smart 'everything'. Love this video.
Wow this is next level home automation. One day I hope to be at this level but still amazing to see how users will come up with next level stuff to make life easier and cool at the same time
it is amazing how far this has come and what is possible. Thank you for sharing some great ideals
This dude is playing a whole different game.
Hidden talent. Nice.
This guy is next level! I hope he has a channel and if not he should start one. He's a pretty good presenter and clearly VERY knowledgeable.
💚
Im so happy you finally uploaded!
Awesome! I am looking into waterflow sensors because I want to get more insight into where all the water goes. I suspect a leak somewhere. So this is great info! Thanks!
Hey Reed. That was one of the coolest smarthomes i've ever seen. Also, happy 2024. ❤😊
Love it - definitely smart home logic at another level - awesome video.
these tours are epic.
Chris did some really cool stuff
1:16 OMG! A wife who has glowing things to say about home automation??? Husbands everywhere take note! 😂
I've nixed some of his less practical ideas...three colors is more than enough for that orb light 😂 but some of these are downright helpful!
@@jannakregoski4361 The home automation is awesome, but can you start a channel on the horses? I never knew I needed to know everything about having horses at home, but I desperately want to. Plenty of channels about having a horse farm with 40+ horses, but none about an at-home small-scale stable with a couple/few horses. That's the kind of super unique thing that I would become addicted to watching
Love the Automation Direct P2k. I use the Productivity line a lot at work. Very easy to work with and learn for beginners.
Okay, this is next level! Awesome!
Thanks! Very interesting tour!!! This smart home community is so crazy! I want more tours like this :))
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Good morning, I love this kind of tour where we can find ideas we will never have if we don't see it. Thanks a lot for your job.
While I'm here, sat with my HA Yellow that stopped working last night after the 2024 update! Ugh! I'm green with envy! What a dream house for automations!
5 more things just got added to my never ending home automation to do list haha
Great video, thank you for thee tour
I remember learning to program PLCs at school. Definitely the most fun. It was like playing a computer game.
Very nice. I also use all but never at this level yet, don't know that much about PLC's and always a bit frightened I break things or worse. Also nice to have so much room to think off, test an use all these automations.
My daughter likes her KAUF rgb light switch that changes color and is also set if the button is held it will cycle through colors so she can pick whatever she wants. Super easy to integrate cause it comes preloaded with Esphome and compatible with tasmota of course
That's awesome! I might need to pick up some of these for my house!
This is absolutely insane... Now the ingenuity is one thing but dialing them into home assistant is actually the most impressive thing ever. I'm currently trying to get my zooz light switch to work as a button with 11 chinese smart potlights and some contact and mmwave motion sensors and dialing in home assistant against smart tuya potlights has been tough. Just when i thought i had it 3 are offline im not sure if its the light itself they wont re sync onto wifi. I just had to put it on pause and use them in their on off relay function mode for now
That wall of devices pulled into home assistant integrations looks awesome. Kudos
I thought this was a great video series. Definitely do more if you can Reed
Whoa, this is a very advanced smart home. Definitely for the tech savvy.
I have Yolink at my house, very good product. I too have the gate sensor.
Woww. This was crazy. Love the video
well, the title wasn't clickbait, that is some serious hardware and very cool..........now im off to buy pressure and water sensors
I'm keen to know how they are turning the NSPanel Pro on/off - I've got one but I'm struggling to work out the best way to manage that aspect of it.
Awesome tech here, i gotta have it someday
Wow please make more videos like this 🎉
Interesting, I've worked with PLC's from automation direct before, never though to use them for a smart some application but that looks really cool.
Love this one
Do they not have a channel? I really want to see his kettle build. I have so many things that could use an esp32, but I have no idea how to implement it.
Remarkable use of industrial automation technology. Well above my capabilities but it's very cool to see what automation done right can look like.
So amazing!!!!
I love the setup
Would love a tutorial how to automate with the weather setup. I have the same system but struggle making it integrate into HA
Fantastic!
Man this was cool. The extra nerds here desperately need a follow-up on some of the things that automation direct makes for custom components.
Niceeee! I likeyyyy!
I like that rgb light switch. I just bought the homey pro. Wish it would work with that.
Everyone should aspire for a high spouse approval factor 😄
Damm... Thats so cool.
Increíble video la verdad eres mi youtuber favorito en domótica la verdad he aprendido mucho de ti, saludos desde México
Some really great ideas. It would be nice for the industrial sensor equivalents to be available for your average home automation users. I not sure too many folk would be prepared to spend £1000 on a water flow sensor, certainly not to save on water losses. For me £1000 is four years total water usage.
Yep. Have a couple of those at work and knew the cost was ridiculous for home use. Not a feasible solution, just turns out he likely gets these free from work.
Dude is my hero. I use a ton of Automation Direct parts at work, mostly Productivity 2000, what a board that guy has a home!
very interesting! Would be interesting to see if they have anything to measure gas usage!
We don't, but I'm interested in measuring that soon. Any suggestions?
Can we get more info about the Kettle and how he wired this? Thanks!
Welcome back!
Thanks! Haha yeah it was nice to take some time off for the holidays but January should have a lot more content! Starting with CES next week.
Where the hell could i talk to a guy like this. I would love to know what the thresholds are for the HVAC. Super cool maybe a discord server?
Reddit has a hvac subreddit
I use wiz bulbs. Also highly recommend 👍
4:33 this is standard in every ventilation, especially commercial ones
Amazing😊
Hey love your videos. I’ve had a Hubitat for several years and have upgraded to the C8. I’m struggling to find clear information on how to integrate my nest cameras with HomeKit through the Hubitat. I don’t know if you do this kind of thing professionally, in addition to making videos or if it would be possible to pay you to help with this?
I’ve been thinking long about getting into ESP and this kettle project seems just the right intro for me. Would you be willing to ask him to post instructions somewhere? I would be so grateful for assistance with that!
the tesla one is really cool
As someone who works with automated production systems I just assumed things like the pressure sensor were normal(ish). But it made more sense once the DIN rails showed up. TINK! That was the sound of the penny dropping :D
Although running PLCs are likely a little overkill they would also be the most robust solution I have ever seen. Time to talk to the sparkies at work.
Id love to see if there is a homekit way to automate the filter sensor for my furnace/ac!!!!!
Need a video of putting the ESP32 in the kettle 🤯
How was the NSPanel mounted? I have been looking for a way to put it in a 3 gang box.
I took a 4-gang switchplate and bought two decora blanks, then cut out the part of both the plate and the blanks where it needed to fit, and tapped screw holes for mounting. I'd probably print a custom plate next time, though.
is the yolink hub integration cloud only or can you do local ?
Any guide on HVAC filter automation?
Wow amazing. I’m having an issue trying to automate my HVAC diffuser. It can be programmed to for time and days but not with the HVAC system. Meaning it’ll run rather the heat/AC is on or not, so I’m wasting the scent because it’s not being pushed throughout the house. Anyone know how to automate this to turn off the diffuser or turn on the HVAC fan?
I’m curious to see that waterflow sensor, but the link doesn’t work. Can you link it here?
Amazing stuff! Can someone help about Chris' smartwatch? Whats that? What app is he using? Thanks!
That's the Home Assistant app for Android Wear.
@@etrmediathanks!
Next level 😅
It’s cool that his wife seems pretty on board with things
This is so cool and very well done. What was the name of the Android tablet that he was using as the smart light switch?
That's a Sonoff NSPanel Pro
What has been blurred out on the control panel back board?
@328 the RGB paddle switch it’s not listed in the description
What manufacturer and modem is it
@SmartHomeSolver
That's the first link in the list of parts used, the Kauf RGB switch.
I wonder how much downtime is involved when sensors or connections fail, I haven't had much long keeping a system stable for more than a few weeks
