🤯 With Harmony remotes having been discontinued with nobody else worthy to backfill the space, there is definitely a niche market for his remote! I know I would absolutely buy one!
Nothing beats a complete and discrete smart home like that! It looks like a home, and not a hacked-up, overly techy home. The central rack is fantastic, and that remote!!! AMAZING! I used to sell and program custom remotes from URC and it was amazing what I could get it to control and do. Far easier to have one remote to control everything than a smartphone. I wish Dave's remote was available so I could go back to using something similar. The Logitech Harmony did some of the controlling well, but still wasn't as fluid and quick to respond as my URC. Unfortunately, things like Hue and Lutron bridges don't work with the old URC, and some of it doesn’t work very well on the Logitech. Bring back an All-in-one remote that can be customized with current tech and I'll be happy!
Brian, thanks for the kind words! I start out using URCs, then Harmony but as eluted to in your comment all the IR based remotes fall short in some of the newer IP based players. TVs, and random devices. Also the systems that existed back then that could integrate all the latest tech together were really expensive and could only be programed by "Certified Installers". That is what lead me down the road of making my own. Thank you for watching Brian!
@lackr0073 I appreciate the reply. Does your remote incorporate IR, RF, IP, and Bluetooth? If so, which was the biggest challenge to set up in your programming? The greatest convenience but biggest challenge for integration with the new tech in my home has been getting the Logitech to run lighting in with the macros. The URC could set an Intermission lighting scene when I hit pause and dim the lights with the play. Logitech is more difficult to program and won't even connect with our Hue hub anymore. Hopefully, you, or someone like you will come out with a worthy successor to the URC/Logitech line of products that are configurable via the eager consumer. I'm sure the biggest challenge to that works be offering tech support, followed closely behind by building and supplying IR databases, IP control, etc. Thanks again for showing off your amazing achievement in your smart home!
