    Watch me transform some nicely detailed, albeit a bit boring, miniature tools, ladder and wheelbarrow into rusty, old pieces that will look right at home in a diorama/room box I'll be making.
    I show you a great trick for painting and aging metal miniatures. Also learn how to create my absolute favorite rust effects using Dirty Down Rust (not a sponsored video, although I'm not opposed...) Plus, I show how to make a simple rust paste and techniques for making realistic rust.

      @@queencityminis noticed your post to take a look at your "steampunk" vid. Need to finish watching. Got interrupted. It will be something I will enjoy I'm sure. A favorite video game of mine is Bioshock. Steampunk setting. Also I'm transplant from U.S. to Germany and I have seen that they have a steampunk amusement park that looks amazing. In between, a lot of your vids are popping up in my feed. Hitting them when I can. Stealing all your trade secrets. "Don't sue me" 😎

    They all look so much more real when you’ve aged them…can’t wait to see the basement.

    My favorite was the sticker you tore up that is so real. For suggestions usually the basement was for storage and broken pieces that were waiting to be fixed but never did. You know like that old chair, plant pots, trays, mason jars, and you have to have an old cushioned ruined chair for sitting down there. lol A wall for shelving with lots of dust. That is always what I seen in my Grandpa's basement but he swore he worked down there with all the spiders. lol Have a great day

    Well done on the tools. Now you need a work bench with a vice. A set of shelves with cans of paint and a full, garbage can.

      Thank you! Ara of Bentley House Minis just made that 3 equal parts paste (paint, glue, sand) and used it to paint the walls in her Beetlejuice project. That got me thinking. I liked the look of the rust and then added the pastels and loved it.

    Great job. Everything looks very realistic. I’d add paint cans, spray pant cans, empty flower pots, tricycle, drop cloth, shelves, cardboard boxes , broom and bucket and some spiderwebs!

    • @queencityminis

      Great ideas! The more items you guys think of, the more I realize how messy my own basement is 😆 I have a pile of flower pots in a corner (with remnants of year old dirt in them).
      I like the idea of a tricycle. I'll have to be on the lookout for one.

    Great work! How about work bench or power tools maybe one of those boards with the holes in it to hang tools on over the work bench. I was also thinking maybe a weight lifting bench with bar and weights some dumb bells or even a hanging punching bag with some boxing gloves. I think that would be awesome for your basement build.

    • @queencityminis

      So many great idea!
      I'll definitely have a work bench and a leg board for tools. I've already collected some great items for the basement including a metal shelf.
      My dad was a boxer so I love the idea of a punching bag. I could probably use some buttons to make weights. Great ideas! Thank you

    The tools are my favorite but everything looks great and realistic. Spiderwebs are needed for a basement. Maybe old appliances and broken furniture too. I used to live in a house where the basement always flooded. It had a broken furnace as well. There’s so many possibilities. Thanks for the video!

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  2 года назад +1

      Such excellent ideas! Spiderwebs are a fantastic idea. I have a broken washing machine in my basement as we speak so I'll have to do that for sure. We have an old oil tank that's still there after converting to gas.
      My basements have all had dirt or concrete floors. Maybe I'll do concrete with some dirt in the back corner and make it dingier and creepier over there 😆 I like the idea of adding some puddles and moisture to the floor. That would be very interesting.
      Thanks for the ideas!

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  2 года назад +1

      I was initially planning to do leather but I don't have any that's thin enough so it would be out of scale. The tape works just fine. In the future, I'll do 2 or 3 layers of tape so it's more substantial.
