Hi everyone! Ok, ok, it isn't a boring dollhouse (especially if any of you live in a similar style home...) but I had a dollhouse kit I wasn't a big fan of. I made some simple changes and I absolutely love the outcome.

I was inspired by fellow miniaturist Miss Minilife to try a new material from my local hobby store. I linked the inspo video below.

I have been toiling away learning how to film and edit videos for RUclips. I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures to sculpted clay animals and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

You're so funny. You go along very calmly describing what you're doing, and then out of the blue, with the same calm tone of voice, throw zingers in that highlight all the mistakes and ironies that invariably happen in the process of crafting! Great job! ❤️
Wow, thank you for the comment! I appreciate that :)
This is why I keep coming back lol
I love your videos the most. Your imagination, the way you can make things seemingly almost from nothing. I am fascinated and captivated by what you do, your style, and you have inspired me to keep on trying, as I am very much a beginner. Thank you

Make a mini paper mug! These require minimal supplies and they're so much fun. I gave a lot of ideas for how to decorate & finish them. You can use nail polish to paint them as well. I didn't think of that at the time.
Thank you so much for the visit 😀
I'm feeling a bit stalkerish liking and commenting on your older videos that I'm binging but meanwhile I want to tell the algorithm how awesome your videos are. I love your soft calm voice punctuated with soft calm surpressed anger zingers. I'm glad you stuck with this style of narration. Anywhooo, I'll save some chatter for future algo-bolster comments. 😂
Thanks so much! I believe about 50% of my views each month are from older videos, so comment away! I love when viewers binge watch my channel.
Love the natural wood details
Thank you 😊
Your brave approach has encouraged me to think outside the box and only sometimes follow directions. I love how you "try, try again." And this little farmhouse is gorgeous!
Thank you! Have fun!
Add the furniture. It's so cute. Much better than what you originally received

I furnished the entire house. I love it!
I liked the way you changed the windows on the house and put the beams on the ceiling. Very clever.
Thank you! I liked the color the laser cutter left on the edges of the wood so I didn't even have to stain the beams.
I love your modifications
Thank you :)
Oooh, I love the windows!
Thank you :)
Locking tweezers!!! Genius. What’s your process for research? You seem to know so much about darn near everything. I decided to go back and watch your older vids. This is really such a wonderful video. 🎉
Wow, thank you! I watch a lot of other miniaturists on RUclips and pick things up along the way. They also inspire me.
Very cool. I like how you modified it to fit you better and yes I was just thinking I hope she makes some furniture for this little house! Thanks for sharing can’t wait to see your channel grow.
Thank you :) I'll probably release a video showing the furniture and accessories in a 3 or 4 weeks.
I've been saying to myself that I am not capable of doing such tiny work, but I've never actually tried it before and I do work with some pretty tiny beads in my jewelry making and some extremely tiny electronic components in my job...putting that together with the amazement of watching you build these tiny, adorable, amazing things, I feel like I want to try it anyway. I might very well fail, but I think I need to try. You sure did improve this kit, imho!
I assumed I would never work in such a small scale and was surprised how much fun I had. My biggest tip is to stay over your work surface. I lean back in my chair and drop things. Then I have to look for it. Also, don't heavily sigh bc things will blow away 😆
I enjoyed the fact that you stated you do not interact with other miniaturists in your daily life (me too)! I love the changes you made to the dollhouse kit - maybe you could add a vertical wall so there are two rooms upstairs?
Thank you for the comment! I think that would be tricky bc of the beams but maybe I could make a pony wall and create a bathroom
@@queencityminis ahh, right...the beams - a pony wall will be cute if you decide to go that way!
@@itiscapitalc It's funny bc I usually don't have very many ideas until I actually start crafting. It's like my creative process doesn't work if I'm just thinking.
I much prefer your version of the house 👏
Thank you :)
Love it, it’s so cute. Love the farmhouse look
Thank you 😊
I know this video is old but you should consider getting a bench pen and a jewelry saw! That’s what I use for details since the hobby knife doesn’t cut as clean. Jewelry saws are cheap and pretty easy to use.
I actually do own a jewelry saw and I am so terrible at using it. I really need to learn. I end up snapping the blades.
I have started saving my trash plastics as well now. And all small bottle caps l think will make good pots for plants our cookware.
17:30 was a total optical illusion for me I had no idea what was happening at first 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 I only looked at the edge of the roof when I was filming and editing. I didn't realize how crazy the front of the house looked.
Now that was fun to watch. Thank you for sharing. I recently started with miniature things. I have a 8month old baby girl and is busy making a dollhouse/nightlight for her. But for now your videos is my crafters fix, because we are moving and I had to pack up my stuff. Can't wait to work on it again. And thanks to you, I have so many ideas. Can't wait for your next video
I have a whole bag of those needle applicator bottles. I got them from amazon. I learn so much from you. I don't know any miniaturists IRL. If you know of any miniature conventions or shows in New England, let me know.
I love my little bottle. I got it while taking a miniature class with Fran Sussman in Virginia.
There's SO much going on in New England in the miniature community. Every September, there's the International Guild of Miniature Artisans show. Tons of venders set up to sell and there are multiple days of classes. I attended two classes.
In Castine, Maine, there's Guild School every June. It's an entire week of classes.
@Queen City Minis Thanks! I am in Southern maine. I went on the website for Earth and Tree and started my list. I am hoping we can make the trip this week.
It turned out amazing!!
Thank you :) Make sure you check out the playlist. I finished this dollhouse with scratch built decor and furniture.

@@queencityminis Thank you, I will!! I just discovered your channel and I already love it.
Nice transformation. The stairs look much better in black. 👍🏻
Oh good! I do like the black stairs too.
It would be interesting to see you convert this into a church. I can see you using glass paint to make stained glass windows, having rows of pews, and a big piped organ.
Definitely. It would look great as a church.
Back in my day, lol, i used clear finger nail polish for glass, or for a high gloss finish.😁
That's still a popular choice! As you can see in my videos, my nails are a mess. I don't even own clear nail polish!
Lovely
Thank you :)
Hi Shyra. I quite enjoy soothing voice. Some people are making Disney dollhouse and comes in part with a magazine and will take ages to fully build it. The Nexus RUclips channel is 1 of them building Disney’s Doll’s house and comes with furniture and figurines as well. I am a patreon.

@@queencityminis Cool. You’re welcome!
Awesome!. Make the little furniture too, please
ruclips.net/video/LcBTNINsCps/видео.html
I made lots and lots of furniture :)
@@queencityminis Good!. They can be in this little house.
We are so alike in our crafting! I hate measuring. So much😅
Measuring is the worst 😆
Those precision bottles come in sets, from Amazon and elsewhere :)
I got a set from Temu after this project. These bottles really come in handy.
That tiny dollhouse was NOT BORING!!! I would LOVE to have found something like that!!!!
Oh, I know! I said so in the description. It's a very cute kit. I just really enjoy customizing kits to make them my own.
Looks great and I liked all your changes. Enjoyed all your fixes when the unexpected comes up. Keep up all the wonderful work and videos
I dont know any other miniture hobbits either. Maybe if the world gets better can join a few clubs to meet others.
I got into miniatures in December 2020. Wish I had discovered this hobby at the start of the pandemic! I've attended two dollhouse miniature classes: one in CT and one in Virginia. It was so much fun.
I have done minitures for years on and off. Just started to work on my 10 room dollhouse I got 20 years ago. Still in the construction stage... 😔
I was so disappointed they cxl the miniture show here in las Vegas this year. I have never been to a show.
I take care of my elderly mom and don't have much time but I get a few minutes to work on things once in a while.
Good for you, for making it your own! 😉 Doesn't Temu sell those little glue bottles with attached stopper? Love what you did with the resin for the windows.
Yes! I bought some. I filled them with wood glue, Elmer's glue, and Diamond Glaze.
I added some hand made furniture to a few of my 1:144 scale houses. Ayra, from Bentley House Minis has a great measuring chart to get the right size. In a nutshell... 2mm is 1 ft. I don't normally use metric, but the 2 mm is easy to calculate (I am NOT a math person)
That's really good to know. Thanks for sharing. I was using a scale calculator app on my phone but that's helpful info.
@@queencityminis go check her past videos. She has a free down load chart. I saved it to my phone for easy reference.
@@queencityminis ruclips.net/video/M_ooX1aXGFk/видео.html
Watch this one. The sheet is on there.
I've seen that video on scale (I've seen all of her videos, many multiple times). I watched it a couple years ago when I first got into miniatures. I should check it out again. Thank you.
I love so much about your videos: the information; your presentation; it’s fun/soothing! I have done miniatures for more than 50 years - um, I was a mere baby when I started. From your name, you might be in Denver. If so, did you ever go to Norm’s? Thank you again.
Thank you so much! That's so nice.
Never been to Denver. Apparently a lot of places around the US are nicknamed the Queen City.
Michaels has those bottles with the metal tips I think it's 3 in a pack
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing.
I do model making and paint quite a lot of parts and I sometimes use Vallejo paints when you shake it and the paint dries quick if put on plastic to paint parts. I mostly use spray cans and airbrushes.
In North of the Border's latest video, he puts his model paints on a wet palette. I need to try that. They do dry very quickly which is great but it's not great when they dry on your pallette.
@@queencityminis Yeah I know so I have to keep adding more paint until I’m finished with it
@@justinn77 I haven't ever used Vallejo. I know Luke Towan seems to prefer them.
Nah, your voice is lovely. Wish I could show you how much I've learned from you. also for some constructive criticism.
Thank you so much 😊 I appreciate that
Do you have a tip for filling the bottles. I got mine from Temu & made such a mess trying to start a wood glue one. Also, my daughter Ella prefers to watch your videos over reading before bed now.. she might not be literate but she’ll make a hell of a miniature & I’m kind of okay with that 😂 Also, she says hi
Haha thanks for sharing!
There's air in the bottles, so I add the glue a small amount at a time, dribbling it down the inside of the bottle on one side.
Is it weird that I use multiple comment boxes to say and ask things. I have a terrible memory so I wouldn’t say anything if I didn’t. How many bit boxes do you have? What other categories do you have of stored items? My DreamBox is arriving this month and I’m trying to get as mentally ready to dive deep. My first miniature club meeting is this Thursday 🥳
I have so many! I'd say 10. I showed them on my Patreon
from a lemon to lemonade
That's right 🍋
Sylvanian Families did a 1/144 scale dollhouse with furniture. Maybe you could find that and repaint?
I'm not very familiar with Sylvanian Families but that sounds fantastic!
I will scratch build my furniture and accessories though. I plan to use a range of materials from paper to polymer clay to popsicle sticks. I enjoy solving this mini problems and coming up with ideas.
@@queencityminis also known as Calico Critters in the USA
Ohhh, ok. I have heard of that
What are your thought of hand rails, on each side of the steps?
That would look great, but it would be so tiny, I'd probably lose my mind.
It’s cute. I like the farmhouse look much better. So far I haven’t created anything just observing. I do want to try it. What resin do you use?
I use Magicfly UV resin bc it's the cheapest I could find on Amazon.
Is there a project you have in mind? The first miniature I made was a Corgi dog I sculpted from clay when I was 18. You can make things out of anything though like paper, cardboard, bits and pieces of plastic etc. Jump in there and make something!
@@queencityminis I love anything spooky. I want to make a graveyard.
@@queencityminis is that a 2 part resin? I don’t use Amazon, dang it. Thanks for info.
@@ghoulgoil5029 No problem! It's called UV resin because the resin is cured with a UV light. I got my UV flashlight for $9. It's a really convenient resin to use for small projects. It's too expensive to use in deep pour or larger projects. My resin cost about $12 for a tube.
@@ghoulgoil5029 I love that idea! Bentley House Minis has a tombstone tutorial
Sorry for your disappointment! You made delicious lemonade out of the lemon you bought lol
Thank you! It was definitely a happy accident.
Why boring?
I just didn't like the style of the dollhouse but I really like it now after my modifications. I'll decorate the upstairs soon and finish it.
I don't think it was boring at all!!! I would LOVE to have found something like that!!!
It looks like a church
It's the three windows at the top (and the white color)
Do you know if this is a common size for model railroading? It looks pretty close to this HO scale mini Victorian here ruclips.net/video/_nbBzDJT3YA/видео.html. I have no idea how he paints that family at the dinner table but I think it's a 3D printed scene. Another channel called Gold Rush Bay sells 3D printed buildings and interiors. They have a lot on their website. It'll be interesting to see how you scratch build interiors
HO scale is 1:87. 1:144 is closest to N Scale.
I wonder if that whole house is 3d printed. I own a 3d printer but I don't generally use it in crafts. I also own a laser cutter but it's a cheap one and I can't find instructions in English so I've never used it. I tend to scratch build. That's what I plan to do when I make the furniture for the farmhouse dollhouse.
@@queencityminis just watched a video saying that O scale was one quarter (so 1:48 right?). I thought HO might be half that or 1:96. The link above he built that little green house from a kit, but other videos he talks about making his own 3D printed furniture pieces. Seems like the model railroad guys use styrene plastic and the kits have that too. Wood that size would warp I think if you painted it
Now that was fun to watch. Congrats on your little one! That's fantastic that you have a creative outlet. The first couple years can be really tough. I hope my videos help relax and inspire you! I'm sure you've heard of Bentley House Minis, but in case you haven't, check her out. I just rewatched her Abandoned Coffee Shop playlist. I also love Miss Minilife and Darkest Raven Designs. Studson Studio doesn't make dollhouse miniatures but his videos are so creative, hilarious and fantastic. He mostly makes 28 mm scale miniatures from trash. North of the Border is fantastic, too. I spend too much time on RUclips 😬
