    In a previous video, I used a dollhouse kit to create a modern farmhouse. In this video, I created 22+ furniture and decor items for this mini space including a .75 inch long live edge dining table, a vintage style refrigerator, sofa, leaning ladder, wall art, a fireplace, teeny tiny boxwood wreaths...Things got a little out of hand but I had a ton of fun. I'll be finishing the top floor in a future video.

    You’re a gem among us. I absolutely love that you held on to a stick you found last year!! When I was 15, I picked up little square chunks of broken glass from the ground at a bus stop. I’m 55 now and still waiting for the right project😂

    My favorite room of the house are the kitchen and bathrooms for some reason. Doll house bathrooms are built like a small linen closet so I always expand them to fit my idea of them. The kitchens should be airy and full at the same time. You do great work Shyra. Have a great day

    This is my 4th time watching this video and it just amazes me how creative you are. Each time I’ve watched it, I’ve taken something new away from it. The chair backs you made that you said looked like little finger nails made me think of 2packs of little girl nails at the Dollar Tree. I actually bought them for the packaging, not the nails, but now I have a use for those too…!!!!!!!!

People who get gel manicures have a higher rate of a rare type of cancer, probably due to the UV exposure. It causes cell damage and death. I'll be careful from now on.

      I learned that from Fran Sussman who specializes in 1:144 scale. I took a class with her and made a tiny kitchen. Truth be told, I only signed up because there were no other openings left in any other class. I had never worked in such a small scale and thought I wouldn't like it. It was such a blast!

    So much packed in there. I kept hearing "so I baked it with my heat gun...". You can DO that with polymer clay? Wow. Everything is so cute and much bigger on my screen than it is in real life, and that's mind boggling. I love that wooden table even though it was relatively simple, it's such a statement piece. But the kitchen counter and the shelves with their contents really makes it look lived in. Haha, I'd love to see an ant crawling around in there

      Thank you! I always assumed I wouldn't like 1:144 but turns out, I've loved every scale I've worked in so far. It's challenging since things are so tiny but it's also easier in other ways since items don't need as much detail because they're so small

      Fantastic! On the one hand, it's a difficult scale to work in because everything is so tiny but that also makes some things easier to make. For example, if you cut a square of fabric and glued it to a 1:12 scale sofa, it would look awful but it looks adorable in this scale! I think the key is filling the space. Visual noise is the secret

    On another video you mentioned using aluminum foil to shape curtains and throws. Then you mentioned aluminum tape. My questions are: do you use the latter for both? If not how does regular aluminum foil stick between curtain and lining? Is "heavy duty" foil tape for electrical (without the mesh fiber) what I should get if I do use that for shaping curtains? Thanks for all you do. Your videos are well done and very helpful.

      I like Little Gretchen's Workshop's method for making curtains. You wet them with watered down glue and pin them to shape them. She uses cardboard covered in packing tape, I believe.

      @@queencityminis I've got a regular scale dollhouse with only 4 rooms and I was thinking maybe an outhouse to deal with that. But love the clawfoot tub idea. I was thinking about clawfoot tubs one day, went to the store for groceries, but a store I don't usually go to. They have other stuff besides food, like a toy isle. But I got hooked by the dishware. They had a whole bunch of dishes just white ceramic, but one quirky dish was shaped like a clawfoot bathtub. So I had to get it. It's too big for my house, it could be a butter dish, you can microwave it so I can heat up dip in it, I could put a few tealight candles in there, I could put it in the bathroom as a soap dish, on a desk to hold paper clips or rubber bands, in a craft area to use for whatever. I don't know why they made a bathtub dish for a kitchen but OK.

    Hi, how did you get into miniature building? You have awesome ideas, love your videos.

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! I grew up absolutely loving Barbies and all things little like Polly Pocket. I sporadically made miniatures over the years as an adult but never had a dollhouse.
      Then, 18 months ago in December 2020, a friend of mine was moving and gave me a vintage dollhouse kit. I started assembling the house and decided to buy minis to furnish it. I ended up buying 13 large boxes of miniatures from a woman for $210 😲
      I have been making minis since I got that house. I ultimately sold it for $25 because I was overwhelmed by wallpaper and paint options 😆. I assembled it, installed the wood floor and shingles, and then sold it.
      I really wanted a RUclips channel like Bentley House Minis so I started learning how to film and edit and started my channel 5 months ago. It has been such a blast!

    I'm loving your videos! And I have a question: what makes you decide to use one clay vs another, like air dry vs polymer?

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  2 года назад +1

      That's great! I'm actually working on finishing the second floor of this dollhouse right now. It'll be a large bedroom and bathroom.
      Air dry clay is great for making brick and stone surfaces. I'll be making a tutorial showing how to make realistic brick with paper clay (which is air dry clay) soon. It also works well for making doughy foods like bread and cakes.
      Polymer clay can be cured right away by baking or heating with a heat gun. I use it when it when I need really clean lines (like the sofa) and I want to cure it right away rather than waiting for air dry clay to dry. It's also the only clay I use to make animals

    • @carol-annegriffin6234

      @@carol-annegriffin6234 I agree! I'm working on the second floor of this house right now. I don't think I'll be using polymer clay on the second floor for making furniture, but we'll see. I used a little for the bathroom sink.
