In this video, I'm scratch building a peg shelf with scrap wood & toothpicks, a bear trap out of an aluminum foil lid, a fireplace bellows with popsicle sticks & paper, and a hearth broom with a bamboo skewer & rope. I'm accessorizing my cardboard room box. It's only 3 inches deep but it looks deeper due to a forced perspective illusion. There's enough room for a fireplace, antique looking stove, a chair and lots of accessories. I made it using a damaged Home Depot box.

I loved all three of the little accessories.
Thank you :)
How cute that turned out. Have a wonderful day
You too! Thank you
Wonderful detail thanks Shyra
Thank you! I ended up removing the dishes from the shelf and returned them to their original red paint. I definitely like it better.
I agree, should be the red and splatter. 😊
Love your work!
Thank you! I stripped the paint later and returned the dishes to the red spatter.
The BOING was hilarious!
Haha thank you
Coming along great. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎁🕯🌟🕯🎁
Thank you! This entire project was so much fun. It's hanging in my kitchen now :)
I think the black and silver make it look like pewter nice touch!
That's true. Thank you!
Love the little details.
Thank you! The details are my favorite part.
You totally captured the toxic lead paint vibes. 😂💞
Score 😆
The mod podge with brown paint wash is exactly what I want, my brain is a blank this morning!
I'm happy to help 😊
I liked all of the designs! But I did like the red dishware.
I agree! I should've left it alone. Now the shelf is glued in place and it feels a little too late. If it bugs me enough, I'm going in there with q tips and acetone to bring them back to life.
this gives me great ideas for my colonial kitchen :)
That's great! I've been thinking of making a colonial brick fireplace for a while, but I haven't gotten around to it. Here's the tutorial for the bricks I'd make to use. ruclips.net/video/iqE0xu5KQs8/видео.htmlsi=FdO6njlShTcohdI5
thanks!@@queencityminis
I’m obsessed with your content. Your unexpected humor makes me laugh so hard. When the wheelchair broke I laughed my big butt off (sorry not sorry) thanks for the art, humor and life lessons. Don’t ever stop!
Thank you so much 😊 Making and editing the videos takes a lot of time and work but I will keep going as long as I can. It's so gratifying sharing with all of you.
Also, I only show about 1% of my mishaps. I am constantly dropping and breaking things 😆
Awesome!!!❤❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
@@queencityminis you are very welcome!!!❤️❤️❤️
Thank goodness my house guest has finally left so I have time to continue with this series! The idea of a bear trap hanging in the kitchen is just so random and yet it fits in perfectly! Very cool
Haha that's how I feel when I have guests.
A heavy iron bear trap hanging on a rickety shelf in a kit hm is a little far fetched, but we get to do whatever we'd like in miniature 😇
Amazing work! So happy I found you! I loved your Steam punk video...that's how I found you. I do Steam punk art and love your techniques.
As for something on the stove for food, I agree with most comments on a stew. I would also suggest a batch of biscuits to go with it. Rollin pin flour bag etc... In the making.
Behind the rocker in the corner, a basket full of yarn with knitting project would be sweet.
That's great! That steampunk project was so much fun. Then I lost the footage RIGHT before I was about to post the video and it was a nightmare! Anyway, make sure you check out my Collab partner's video, Whitney LaBrie. It's linked in the description. Her channel is so much fun. I watch every video as soon as they drop.
I love the idea of bread! Maybe I'll make a "baking in progress" scene. Those are so charming.
Enjoyed every single minute of this!
That's the sweetest feedback ever! Thank you
@@queencityminis 🥰
The "knotty backside" had me laughing over here!🤣... I love your sense of humor, and artistry!🙌🏾😊
Thank you so much 🤗
Pretty sure that’s a pub in Southampton 😊
@@toomanymonkeys21 🤣🤣🤣
For shelf brackets. You could use shelf pegs. Found in furniture.
That's a great idea! Thank you
I think an over flowing pot of stew will be super cute, with some baked bread. For behind the chair, maybe some fishing rods, and a shot gun? I think that will tie into bear trap/ hunting for food in an off grid setting.😊
That's brilliant! I love the idea of fishing rods. Thank you
I collected some tiny mussels at the beach over the summer. I'd love to make a seafood stew.
You have the best ideas for making your minis look realistic! The shelf is so cute with it’s little corbels. I did like the red dishes better but they still turned out great. The naughty backside! You crack me up, I’m weak! Lol! Everything looks awesome! Great job. A mouse or cat behind the chair!
Thank you! A cat is a really cute idea!
Today I took the time to remove the dishes and remove the paint. They look quite rustic but they're back on the shelf. I took photos of the process. I'll post the update tomorrow in the Community tab.
@@queencityminis ❤
I did like the red dishes, if they had been aged to tone down the color. They looked like old porcelain-covered metal dishes we used to use when camping.
I had blue ones for camping.
I didn't realize how much the silver would just blend in. I definitely should've kept them red. I'm brainstorming ways to reverse the paint job. I may cut them off of the shelf to break the glue seal, then reattach them.
@@queencityminis Yikes! You are braver than I would be! I also loved seeing you make the bellows, because I have a project planned where I will need to make one of those.
The silver is bugging me enough that it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario, I repaint them silver and glue them back down.
That's really cool! I'm glad you stumbled upon the video. I don't think there's another miniature bellows tutorial on RUclips.
THE WAY SHE JUST SO CALMY SAYS IT- I- 2:40
Oh my 😆 I don't even remember saying that.
Amazing work 👍🏻 new subscriber from SE Texas 😊 almost forgot… behind the chair tackle box with fly fishing gear and maybe some crumpled waders or just boots by the chair.
So cute! I love the idea of a tackle box and fishing pole. Thank you
I have a little pair of metal Victorian shoes I was planning to use but now I'm second guessing...
Your attention to detail is amazing, love what you’ve created, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
I appreciate that! Thank you
Beautiful work! Loved the attention to detail! Thank you for sharing😀
Thank you :) I appreciate it
Love this little kitchen and how it's turning out. There are so many things to look at! I am learning many little tricks and getting many tips from watching this series... and I thank you very much.🥰
- Just wondering... Is this kitchen located in a cabin that someone found while wandering through the forest in modern times and that's why everything is rusty and old? If it's actually in the 1800s, the person who owns it has no regard for their things. Maybe it's a trapper who lives alone and just doesn't bother with any of it? Sorry... I have a way of making up stories for everything. 🙃
- Did you know that your bear trap is open and set to catch something? The "jaws" are together when it's not set. (Oops! LOL) But it made me smile when you "rusted it open".
I'm thinking of this kitchen as a snapshot in time. Sometimes I sacrifice practicality in favor of a look. Like hanging a heavy, open trap on a rickety old shelf peg and adding rust 😆 I just like how it looks.
I love the creativity and stories everyone comes up with. That isn't my strong suit.
I lack the talent to do any of this, but I love this channel because it's sooooo relaxing to watch!
Glad you enjoy it! I think most of my viewers only watch as well. I do encourage everyone to buy a little kit someday and make a miniature. It's so much fun.
Wow!! Those bellows turned out so awesome! I love how you use paper bags for faux leather, which is something that is on my list to try. You inspire me to try even more new things, thank you Shyra 🤩
My pleasure :) Thank you for watching
I'm so glad that I watched this video. The instructions and tips you gave were super helpful and I actually need to make a broom for a snowman. Thank you so much! 💓
Thank you very much :)
A snowman with a broom sounds adorable. Here's a video of another broom I made with sewn bristles. It's still really easy but made using full-scale techniques.
ruclips.net/video/GHAT_f73KFA/видео.html
IF someone is snowed in, a big pot of stew, bear stew? Maybe some Snowshoes on the wall. The old fashioned kind that look like they're woven from vines and twigs.
Have you got a bearskin rug, mounted head, or wall hanging?
When I saw you make serrated metal for your trap,. Was wondering if the serrated metal from the boxes of various wraps in the kitchen would work; the foil, cling wrap, waxed paper. Sometimes they have serrated metal tear strips. Good for set of steak knives. I think the bigger teeth is better for a bear trap though
I love the idea of snowshoes! I'm thinking of removing the pot rack on the opposite wall. Maybe I'll replace it with a pair of snowshoes. I bought some vintage rattan pieces at my local dollhouse store. They're probably thin and flexible enough for that.
I was actually looking for my serrated pieces from the aluminum foil box but couldn't find them. I need to organize my trash piles better.
Encore une excellente vidéo. J’adore votre sens du détail, tous les trucs et astuces que vous partagez avec nous pour des résultats bluffants de réalisme ! Merci 😍🥰👏👏
You're welcome! Thank you for commenting
What about a wash board behind the chair? Or a small corner shelf with a coffee grinder on it. On he stove you need a metal coffee pot.
Brilliant! I'll definitely make a washboard. That's a great idea. Thank you
I really like the idea of a corner shelf too. The opposite wall is a lot more full than the right side now. I added more details after wrapping the latest video and installing the shelf.
"...knotty backside." I see what you did there.
I am who I am 😆
This was amazing! 🥰😍😍😍😍So original and I love grungy things AND the mark from the bear trap swinging???? Omg so brilliant! Plus the idea of a bear trap is so in keeping with a primitive cabin in the woods! I would never have thought of that.
If you want to bring back some of the original red enamel on the plates I’ve recently discovered hand sanitizer is the ultimate thinner, reactivator and eraser for paint and every other media I’ve tried it on. Also for clean up and for eyeglass smudges. Although they look wonderful anyway.
Thank you so much! I love when ideas just pop into my head and then turn out great first try. Foothold traps are not humane but I'll be damned if it doesn't look adorable in miniature.
I think on the chair should be something like a shawl jacket or blanket. ' I think someone sitting in the chair to warm themselves Would have something over them.
Thank you! That's a cool idea
I don't know a lot about baretraps but my friends who have a make sure they're always closed I don't think you can hang an open bear trap on a wall
I definitely agree 😆 Hanging a heavy, open trap on a rickety old shelf doesn't make a lot of sense, but I really like how it looks. Miniatures can be unrealistic. It's art 🎨
👑❤
Thank you 😊
🥰 The bear trap 😲 amazing!!...I might need one of those for the farm. I love the Bellows. This came out awesome!! Maybe you can make a pot of stew..I always associate stew with a Bear trap...lol good ol'pioneer days. And maybe you can add an apron behind the chair on the wall. 🥰
Thank you! I love your videos and creativity 😊
Definitely make a bear trap. It came together quickly and I LOVE it.
@@queencityminis It did ..it's awesome..and thank you!🥰
I would have liked the red splatter paint plates just tell him down with a little bit of paint
That would've been a better idea. I ended up removing the silver paint and toning down the red with some brown.
Hallo just love your tutorials and am wondering what do you use to attach all the wall items. I’m just about to make the bellows for a little forge I’ve just finished so thank you for your ideas.
I glued many of the items into this space, but I've since switched to using museum wax. I like the impermanence of it.
Thank you and I too use museum wax but find that the heavier items often fall off when the weather is warm so will do a mixture of both. Bellows turned out a tad too small so this morning at 4.30 I got up and made a slightly bigger version took two hours so I may have a snooze after breakfast. Miniature madness!
You mentioned chalk pastels. Do you use the Soft Pastels or the oil Pastels
I use soft pastels
The dishes were much better with the red speckled color.
I agree. Oops!
Queen. Is that in the mountains?
Sort of. There are mountains nearby.
@@queencityminis Queen, make a fairy dollhouse in a candle lamp, please
That's a great idea 💡 I have so many projects planned but maybe someday.
@@queencityminis great
Been binging your videos and enjoying them. You've even given me the courage to tackle the 1:48 scale kit I have been avoiding because the tiny size inimidated me. But I have to ask, does your local doll house store have a website? You get some real deals! :)
ruclips.net/video/uYm5I3AoONo/видео.html Do it! I made a 1:48 cottage and it was so much fun. It's easier than larger scales bc it takes less time and the accessories require less detail.
The discounted items are only available in the store but Earth & Tree Dollhouses & Miniatures does have an extensive website www.earthntree.com
Thank you!
