Thanks for watching 😊
I was a Rolls-Royce service painter for 10 years and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the care and effort you've put into bringing this car back to life 😊
Thanks Buddy that's great
Your car appears to be in pretty good condition .Buy 4 extra mounting clip assemblies to have a total of 6 per wheel to save losing those expensive trim rings. They fall off easily with only 5 per wheel as supplied originally by Crewe. That's why your 4 other trim rings were not on the car. Flying Spares or Introcar are you friends for parts & advice. You have a steep learning curve to learn how to bring this car back to life & make it reliable. Fun & great special cars you will enjoy but take your time & enjoy the knowledge you will gain & need. I will try to answer any questions you may have in future. I know a lot about these cars having had 7 since 2000 but I am not a mechanic. I've been a RR & B owner since 1976, 13 cars ago. I currently have an 89 Bentley Turbo RL bought 5 years ago & a 58 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud that I am the 3rd owner of since purchased in 1984. Both of my cars have just over 100000 miles & are unrestored originals including paint & rust free as they were never winter driven. I live in Calgary Canada but was born in Ruislip Middlesex. Most important advise I can give you is to have fun .
I remember seeing this car parked in a certain Hilton hotel over the years and driving past it, wondering how it ended up being parked up. Can’t wait to see how it end up.
Great content, Paul. From what we have seen so far, the bodywork and trim of this car looks to be in great condition. If anyone can de-mystify this monster back to the proud limousine it once was, it is you. We are with you all the way!
Unfortunately, you have to deal with the UK's silly MOT. Here in Nebraska USA we have NO vehicle inspection- just register, insure and drive. Guess what? Our accident rate isn't any worse than other states on this side of the pond. My Mate Vince spent alot of money and time jumping through the MOT hoops. Government vehicle inspections are about controlling the public rather than any real safety concern. Wishing you the best as you work through the little problems getting this lovely car back on the road.
So glad you got into the boot without reverting to vandalism, great content again big man
Looking forward to the restoration of this one👍🏴
Glad to be here...I think you attracted my mate Vince fans over from his Rolls Royce repair job👍👍👍
Yes, I'm one of those, one RR journey ends, another begins! (Although i'm sure Vince's is far from finished!)
Well done on the Boot latch... I was living it with you... looking forward to more adventures with this Spirit and how you deal with them!
@@hamishcruden7623 thanks 😊
I came here after My Mate Vince finished his series on his cheap Rolls.
Same here, but this car is in much better condition curious whether it needs more than a good clean
Your balance of anxiety and relief makes the videos more watchable, as someone who wakes up early in the morning flapping 😮
You know you can get power by putting jump leads to the + & - on an interior light 💡
Hi, a few things you might want to know, if not already. Flying Spares do a CD "Bentley Assist" which is a workshop manual covering all Bentley and RR cars from Shadow up to and inc Seraph and Arnage. Its £12 I believe. Also, eventually you will want to try and get it started. I have heard of the front crankshaft oil seal becomming glued to the crank through standing, and ripping out upon starting on these engines, so I would attempt to turn the engine ever so gently by hand first. Also, there should be a special tool, or tools, to get the hub caps off and expose nuts on the road wheels. They are on my Seraph, yours may be similar.. They should be in tool kit but may be kicking about inside the car.
Glad you got the boot open without too much fuss. I forgot the older models had the spare wheel a bit exposed under the car and had the hole you could get through, on my '96 Turbo R it's inside the boot so I wouldn't have that option. Looking forward to the rest of this series, it really doesn't look to be too bad despite sitting in a car park most its life.
Its in remarkable condition underneath for its age Paul. Look forward to your progress with it
Hey Paul, good to see how you handled this to open the trunk lid, I think we will all be very curious about the next approach to the Rolls Royce
Greetings Herman the Netherlands
Your neighbour, was that Mrs. Bouquet (Bucket) from that old show “Keeping up Appearances”?😅
😂
You can put a direct power to the possitive of the interiorlight. That should give power to the central locking... That wouldn't help this time i see... Just keep in mind then
Well done for getting into the boot of the Silver Spur, Paul. It was definitely worth the work trying to get the boot open! Success at the first hurdle,as they say, my friend. Keep us informed on further updates on this lovely car.
I was getting anxious with you underneath the car on those axle stands 😮
Funny thing is I wouldn’t be anxious doing it myself- it’s just watching someone else 😂
New subscriber from last video - enjoying the channel
From memory, the boot key just disables the central locking to the boot catch, so one way the boot will release with central locking and the other way it stays locked. It prevents scroots from stealing from your boot when waiting at traffic lights.
There's a switch in the glove box for that, at least there is in my '96 Turbo R. This is only a little bit older so is likely the same
I expect you know “sandstone” is the trim colour . I got locked out of the boot of our Continental R which was a nightmare as it contained perishable food . Lock mechanism had worked loose but a combination of key plus pressing button in dashboard fortunately worked . I’m just wondering if once you’ve got the car powered up that this could impact on the key aspect as unlikely as that sounds because of my experience.
Very glad you were able to get the trunk open! So looking forward to more videos.
Big,Big project Paul. Wish I stayed closer, would love to get to work on that Rolls paintwork with all my lotions and potions😆😆. I wish you luck going forward.👍
If you tap the rear end in something like a Jaguar XJ6 at around 40mph the boots pop right open on them 😊
I wish you could have shown more footage of the aperture with the leaves and stuff and then hoovering it up facinating learnt a lot.
😂
What car for the money, the bodywork looks to be in very good condition as does the interior.
I’m on a similar mission with a 1973 Silver Shadow that needed saving. Like you , this is my first Rolls Royce and I’m really enjoying the voyage of discovery with these beautifully engineered motor cars. They are a credit to the craftsmen and women that built these wonderful vehicles. It’s an honour to have one of these magnificent cars and to be restoring and preserving it.
Good luck with your Rolls Royce and I’m looking forward to seeing your next instalment. 😎👍
Thank you and appreciate it
I’m really looking forward to following your journey on this project as I’m sure I will encounter some of the issues that you will be dealing with. I think mechanically these cars are similar to the Silver Shadows so I am sure that I will learn from your experience in some areas of this restoration. My car definitely needs full brake and suspension repairs and overhaul and a small amount of body repair. It’s great to see someone else with the same mindset and passion for saving these amazing cars.
They are definitely like no other car. I’ve restored many cars over the years but never a Rolls Royce until now. I’m loving the experience.
Good work, mate. Keep it up. Got me on a RR fix now. Love to see how it ends up. Looking forward to the next one.......
Well done what a brilliant win and no damage.
Another great episode.great that you managed to get the boot open.the body looks very good.those back lower sections are starting to crumble on my 1989 one.i hope to get my bodywork sorted next year.its only the usual bits around the front arches and a bit around the rear screen.cant wait to see you get it running.i nearly brought a spirit 3 before i had my very late spirit1.i didnt want the electric damper control.just noticed you into jags to.i sm jag mad,had around 20 over the last 30 years.my current one is a x350 super v8.fantastic car.
Hello from Dronfield Derbyshire I am pleased on joining your channel you seem like a down to earth kind of guy and you seem very genuine. I have always been around cars for most of my life and then I got my son involved but unfortunately my beautiful son died at Christmas of a heart attack he was only 28 over the last few months I’ve been trying to motivate myself to get into some kind of normality but I’m finding it hard to do. So I want to thank you for giving me something to watch and enjoy I too hope that one day I will get my dream car a triumph spitfire my teacher had one and I can still see him driving in to school with it in his black leather jacket. I am really sorry for going on but I find talking helps me a little.
So anyway take care and keep up the good work I am looking forward to your future videos.
Kind regards Richard
Thank you and very sorry for your loss
Sorry pressed the wrong button ...derrr me. On my turbo R there is a switch to unlock the boot or isolate it not sure, never needed to use it.
Awesome, looking forward to seeing the journey.
Nice one! I’m one of your new subscribers after watching your first Silver Spirit episode, or technically your second episode. I’ve always fancied buying one of these but never been brave enough to. I’ll stick with my old Volvos for now, but I’ll definitely get one, one day, when I’ve got some spare cash…
By the way, it would be lovely to enjoy this car in our area (Nebraska, USA). Our petrol is .60 pounds per liter..... That makes the RR more affordable.
A good wash and polish and that will look ready to go.
Looks like it's been under sealed from new its kept the underside in good order win win
Good job 👍
Look inside the bottom of the panel. Lock parts fall off sometimes
I think it’s everyone dream to own a rolls-Royce. And I’m guessing Middlesbrough Teeside going off the accent?
I subbed after the first RR episode.
Have a look at "My Mate Vince" RR vlog part 5, he had an issue with the boot locking mechanism which he was able to fix.
I might be able to help you with a handset for the phone. If you can show me a picture of the handset holder I would hopefully be able to tell if it might work.
Cool 😊
Well done, what a buy, a lot cheaper than my mate Vince’s one and way better looking on the inside as well as on the outside!
If you’re going to have the car sitting there for quite some time you may as well give it a nice wash so at least it looks like a normal running car for the neighbours to see😉
Believe me I can't wait ha ha the bad weather has other ideas 😅
Hi, new subscriber here….Im a sucker for any RR - This one looks in really good condition at least in the bodywork. Hope the wires haven’t been eaten by mice, the engine turns over, there is passable oil in it, the hydraulics aren’t shot, er. Yeah, well should be a good few videos there. Good luck.
Thanks for subscribing
Is there an isolation switch in the glove compartment?
Nice video - is this your first Rolls Royce? I am sure you’re very familiar with Flying Spares?
Great video with good information
👍👏👏 brilliant I could watch it all day.
Thanks Buddy 😊
Gord bless her.....Neighbours.....everybody loves good Neighbours... 😂😂😂
Your welcome!
I have been waiting for this, thanks,
Re bonjour salut hello j espère bientôt avoir des nouvelles sur la rolls
I hate the look of those tyres on the car. I do hope down the track when you obviously will be putting new tyres on they will be white walls.🙏
Yeah I think so..🤔
Looking forward to the next episode , new sub 👍👍👍
Thanks so much !
Buy some iron oxide remover (bleeding wheel cleaner) for the wheels and enjoy the time you save having a beer 🍻.
It's great on bodywork as well saving time using a clay bar 👍
I want more JAAAAGGS BABY!!
Don't worry the Jag is still here and needs my attention!
I wonder what went though someone's mind when they put off road tyres on it
Simple, due to the size of the wheels only 1 company makes the correct tyres and are very expensive. Cheaper option is 4x4 tyres.
Simple. Because poor people buy a Rolls_Royce who really can not afford to own a Rolls_Royce, even an old one !..
🤔 Just always remember. There is no such thing as a cheap Rolls_Royce then and now. The most expensive car 🚙 you can ever buy is a cheap Rolls_Royce !!.........
for gords sake just buy a new battery, start from a known good. well done with the unlatch too.
Central locking is electronic...but you've removed battery...
Battery is dead Buddy
