Great job Paul. So good to see the underside of the car so solid and rust free. Maybe the hotel manager only visited in Summer. You’ve got yourself a peach there. I would say good luck but I think in life we often make our own luck. You are making me want one of these. 😃

It's astonishing how far this beast of a car has come... I wonder if the previous owner (s) are just a wee bit envious... 🙂☝️
In fairness to the previous 'Grease Monkey,' the generous coating of grease on that brake mechanism, has probably preserved it and kept the tin worms at bay.
A pain to clean, but left it all intact.🐒

I enjoy watching brake work being done. It's great to see your emphasis on safety. Rolls-Royce brakes have always been a faff, whether it's the Hispano-Suiza designs prior to the Silver Shadow or the Citroën style brakes you have here. Indeed...you could make content on the brakes alone for ages. 😆🤣May your road to M.O.T. be as smooth as your Rolls-Royce's ride. Aloha.

The MK2 Jaguar has separate handbrake pads and pivot carriers (handbrake operated.....not foot operated). I'm guessing you were keeping an eye on the brake fluid level in reservoir when you were compressing the cylinders in the calipers.........I know you can't show everything you are doing in the video. What a fabulous purchase you have made with this Rolls Royce Paul.
It couldn't have gone to a better home. Ron, Glasgow.

@jaguarladdie different braking system on the RR . (No Master Cylinder) and reservoir is sealed and much bigger than a normal system with a Master Cylinder

I did this earlier in the year but separated the calipers and put in new pistons and rubbers. The handbrake is certainly confronting when first looking at it.

The parking brake needs adjusting with the wheel in position and then when not able to turn, the adjuster is backed off three flats.

Those tiny handbrake pads put me off. Handbrake has to achieve 16% to pass an MOT and, in an emergency, it is your secondary brake. Good refurbishment work though.

@@life_on_cars You seem to have it working to maximum efficiency but with tapered pads there is so little contact area when new. Curious how much good it is as a secondary brake on such a heavy lump.
