Fun fact: If you return to the home menu instead of hitting OK, the save will still be intact and not deleted. This means one can just back it up with something like Checkpoint in case the problem comes from something else, like save editing gone wrong or using certain modded files (like restoring region-locked clothing in other releases)

31:45 "You can physically wave at babies during the peek-a-boo minigame in real life." is in the CCs but doesn't seem to appear in the video itself (unless I'm misremembering). I haven't been able to confirm camera-related reactions myself, but it does correlate with the otherwise barely-noticeable camera functionality in the baby minigames (more evident on emulators, as the game will even softlock at such points if it cannot detect a working camera). Also, on the topic of save editing same-sex married couples into the game, I attempted such a thing once only for said couples' home to become inaccessible on the Mii Homes menu, despite said home still technically existing (the only way I could access them is through the two children they had). Granted, it was with a wlw couple rather than an mlm couple, so I'm unsure if this is a unique problem to them. As for the "same-sex couple bug" claims, however, I don't think there's much evidence supporting it beyond a few supposed screenshots of the JP release where IIRC it's more likely they just set one of the Miis to the opposite sex. As it stands, one still needs to save edit them in.
22:22 I think that's just referring to how mustard is actually kind of hot (in a literal sense) if you eat a lot of it at once it can very much cause you to sweat and feel hot-ish! So, the description is nothing nefarious I do not think!
31:41 using ᵃh actually breaks the concert even worse, even glitching the voices for the miis. performing the glitch correctly breaks your mii's mouths, and you shouldn't save, as it could break the game. putting more ᵃ's or h's can cause more damage. for me, i use ᵃh, o, then a normal line. the max amount of ᵃh and o i was able to do was 3 before the game crashed.

8:57 The Japanese ROB is a different color because in Japan, ROB was based around the Famicom instead of the NES. Famicoms were offwhite and red, and NES's were black, white, and grey. @@crawsmostro4585 I think it's like tamarindo here in mexico, it's very typical, but I wouldn't blame outsiders for not having a taste for it. Well, I'm pretty sure the miis can't pronounce it much better due to sample limitations LOL. But more messed up is that I'm unusure if I'm actually pronouncing it horribly and this is an ironic comment.
Apparently spamming the home button while a Mii is singing messes up their animations, especially in the Musical group performance. It's also possible for the Miis to continue moving when you press "Make it stop."
Adding to the comment two months later. Replacing from the Ballad "Maybe we are destiny" with "h°" can lead to damaged eardrums and corrupted Mii faces, plus the possibility of crashing the game.
The longest name I was able to find for a Mii was spamming Ws. When I tried to make a song consisting of all Ws, it just straight up gave me an error and didn’t play the song.

My favorite quirk with the singing in the game was little emoticons like :( or :) would also make them say really weird sounds, although less weird than the one shown in the video with the h°. It was basically just they'd be like awawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawa. I feel like I remember it working to make the weird noises if it was the only thing you had in the lyric line
I often used emotes like :c because they make some kind of sound, much better than silence. Now the question is... is it better than awawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawa? Hmmmm....
@SmashedTomatoes it's a kind of Pac Man like sound, but yeah if I remember it right you have to only have them in the line. Any letters or anything and they won't say anything. It's also funny to put in a ton of gibberish and see them try and make it work because sometimes they can sing it, but it's almost equally likely that they'll try and sing it and the game will force you out of the song because it can't do it. It tries to spell out the mess and sometimes there's too many letters

Items like ROB having a different look in the Japanese version is because the real accessories were coloured to match their respective region's NES and Famicom. The same happens in the DS version of Mario Kart, where ROB is red in Japan but grey in the rest of the world.
but then they'd just take a picture of a japanese ROB outside of the box. The real reason is simpler: They wanted to make the shadow item minigame harder, because otherwise it's too easy, they also just figured the western audience was more finicky about it... At least that's my theory!
My big theory on why this hasn't got a remake yet is because of how hard coded it was to not allow same sex relationships. Like modders tried and it broke the game quite abit. So my theory is that they'd have to completely rework the code to add that and they know that is a big feature people want.
I literally show in this video that it doesn't break that bad with guys, tho there are more issues with same sex girls. Modders didn't really try anything because they can't access the code at all, but I suspect Nintendo would easily be able to do it. More likely that nintendo is aware of the game's main issue, the "repetitiveness", and thus felt that fans of the original game wouldn't have enough reason to buy a remake, a sequel is much more likely than some people want you to believe.
@@SmashedTomatoes I agree-- Tomodachi Collection did well enough to get a sequel, and Life did WAY better than Collection. In the top 10 most sold 3DS games, I believe. Plus, there was two spinoffs in the form of Miitomo and Miitopia, one of which also got a switch remaster. I think the reason there was a port and not a straight up "Miitopia 2" was because it was a smaller spinoff and had less priority. But surely a bestselling, mainline title like Tomodachi Life is enough for a sequel, right? Maybe a Switch 2 launch title? idk

Oh, interesting, I've never really seen that solution around, but it would make sense if some mii's action didn't have enough bytes and offseted the save but playing later made the game discard that action enitrely and come up with a new one that isn't broken.... Hmmm
@crazygamerryniakI'm not sure how rare that is? I think it chooses all time favorite first and then makes the rest of the list with the "disliked" foods having less probability of being liked. But it could also just be a rare chance! Someday Tomodachi will be reverse engineered and I will know.

And it happened a second time on a second island I totally forgot the name of because the data got corrupted for that one quickly! And a year ago my Tomodachi Collection island got corrupted and I never played Collection since! I’m cursed to have data for a 3DS game I’m too attached to get corrupted (some times).

Fun fact: If you return to the home menu instead of hitting OK, the save will still be intact and not deleted. If I had to guess, are those clothes supposed to be used on the newborn baby miis when they're first shown to you?

@@crawsmostro4585 I think it's like tamarindo here in mexico, it's very typical, but I wouldn't blame outsiders for not having a taste for it. Nintendo probably made the list based on whether they where too spicy or bitter, rather than anything like that.

Apparently spamming the home button while a Mii is singing messes up their animations, especially in the Musical group performance.
It's also possible for the Miis to continue moving when you press "Make it stop."

@@SmashedTomatoes i feel like some people stop because they don't realize that just because you stop seeing "new things" doesn't mean there's nothing more to the game, you also need to get a lil creative!

I like that at some point maybe around 25 minutes (or maybe earlier) they just start saying junk. The vaporeon thing gave me whiplash
I'll have you know it's highly curated junk.
30:17
I love how you said "Have the personally of a plank" here, lol
I know the way I say "plank" is peak.
@@SmashedTomatoes I've seriously gotta refrence it at some point
Although I don't think the delivery would be as good...
Maybe a Switch 2 launch title? idk
