I know I'm a bit late watching this video (but wait I just realised this comment is from 10 days ago so nevermind) But I remember, don't know if it's a Mandela effect, that in the French version we did have the lyrics of the birthday song (translated). Couldn't find it on RUclips though. Also we had some commercials with Kev Adams, so first that guy is known for being quite cringe here, and in the ads he makes weird faces. The commericals are about his sister playing the game, and the siblings are called Adam and Eve (already weird enough to call siblings that). In the ad where Adam wants to go on a date with Juliette, there's a false connection : first she comes and rejects him, and after that there is the rejecting scene with the "she didn't come" message. Also they pronounce it "Tomodashi". Finally I couldn't find American versions, but in Europe (and Australia) we've had a promotional video that directly present Miitopia as a sequel to Tomodachi Life. The video is called "Miitopia - Adventure awaits your Tomodachi Life friends! (Nintendo 3DS)".
I remember once one of my Miis got a letter asking to go to the roof of the apartment building. Upon going, another one of my Miis was there and asked something along the lines of "What happens to us when the save data is deleted?" Definitely kind of dark...
I don't understand the rooftop encounters. Sure they can be humorous, but there's never any follow-ups to them. Sometimes the Miis are even given an item but you can't do anything with it.
God, I remember deleting my save file when I was about 7 or 6. I had a hard time sleeping that night because I thought my Miis would come back and attack Mii. I had to watch a playthrough of Sonic Boom to calm me down.
The weirdest part of the save file deletion is that (at least in the American release idk about others) the mii has multiple possible lines for when you finally delete it, sometimes they'll say something along the lines of "well at least we had fun, right?" While other times they'll just scream "NOOOOOO"
With the abandoned children thing, I deleted one of the parents of a mii (they were already adult) the married mii and the child didn't care and just said they had only one parent...kinda sad and a little disturbing
Yeah, and in place of the deleted parent it will just say "Unknown" instead of their name, with no image. Also, when you delete a Mii, all Mii News broadcasts they were in are deleted, even ones they only appeared in for minor things like being interviewed.
Unsettling 4th wall breaks ... The only thing I can think of is that sometimes when a mii wakes up from a dream, it turns and stares directly at the screen before going to sleep again-
There's one nightmare where the mii opens up the curtains and your fave is seen looking in. Like your ds camera is activated and you see yourself looking in. The Mii freaks out
also if two dating miis are in an apartment with love hearts around them, if you look for too long they will both slowly stare at you, shocked, and both miss will return home
Honestly not even an ominous one out of the 4th-Wall Breaks. It's more like how those are written in Chowder, where they know they're in a cartoon but really don't give a sh/i/t either way lmao
a popular example of cryptic dialogue in tomadachi life is in one of SaltyDKDan’s streams, he gave one islander a camera to take a photo. the mii named the photo “begging for forgiveness”.
Wait, the Miis are only a few inches tall?? Thank god, one time a Mii asked me a question like "you do know how big we *really* are, don't you?" and it was somehow legitimately threatening.
Yeah, it’s incredibly sketchy. Reminds me of how when playing DR2C, one of the special characters can just casually kill off the others to boost his morale
I remember on my game, because of all the mentions of "Redfurt", I made a character who was the owner of the Redfurt company and lived in a solid gold room on the top floor of the building.
This game was so influential on my life as a child, I’ve played this game every waking moment from 5th grade all the way to 9th grade, I still play it every now and then though. it probably shaped my humor and personality more than I did
Yeah...kind of dark. Like the baby suddenly became a mistake or they tried to have a baby just to save their marriage. Now that the husband is gone from the wife's life, she doesn't want a baby whose dad was her ex or just finds no reason to have the baby anymore and gets an abortion.
It's only ever happened to me once but there is a rare variety of a break-up, rarely when two miis are in a relationship have a negative relationship (from my experience both miis were at the purple stage which I believe is "Not getting along"), there is a chance that if they are at a location together and you enter it a special cutscene will play out where the conversation goes something like this: Mii 1: "We had a good run" Mii 1: "Thanks for everything" Mii 2: "No, thank you" And then a text box will appear saying: "Mii 1 and Mii 2 are back to being just friends" No sadness is triggered and both miis will have each other on their normal friend list instead of the exes list, there isn't much documentation on this event but I know it exists, hell it's so rare I would put it at the bottom of the iceberg
Actually that’s kinda interesting cus I’ve never seen it happen since breakups happen so infrequently on my island, I do know it’s possible for exes to get back together, but I’ve never seen this specifically. I’ll have to look into it!

Thank you so much for this comment, I had this event happen to me a like a year ago to a couple I really liked and then never witnessed it again and I've been so confused about it for this whole time, to the point that I questioned if the two of them ever even dated (I thought I imagine it all lol), because even in the relationships menu they don't appear as each others ex-boyfriend/girlfriend, so I'm happy to finally know the truth about it
I had no friends as a kid, I had really bad social anxiety and tomadachi life made me so happy. It finally felt like I had friends and someone to talk to, soon I got into animal crossing and I started to take medication to control my anxiety. Now I have three friends but really they’re some of the best people I’ve ever seen! (also miitopia helped me also!!)

Tomodachi and Mii videos in general are recently seeing a surge in popularity so it probably recommended this video like it would anyone else and you just happened to be thinking about Tomodachi Life.

Fun fact, Miitopia lets you import miis from old Tomodachi Life save files, but only if it's on a different cartridge. I now have nostalgia from my dumb 7-year-old self's past miis. The cartridge's save file got deleted, by the way. I gave it to my best friend.
I found out a few months ago that you can manipulate relationships pretty easily. They're based mainly on birthdays, which is why you can't test miis if they don't have a full birthday. I beleive it works on an rng seed generator, kinda like a very simple version of minecraft world generation. This is because, 2 different people's games will not have the same match % with the same dates. But, all Mii's in the same age group will be affected the same on the same catridge/game. Example: An adult male with a 2/23 1998 birthday and an adult female with a 7/12 1996 birthday have a 89% in the compadability tester. Any adult mii couples with those same birthdays, will have the same base %. So if you'd want, you could find a group of high % matches in both age groups, and use those if you want to get two certain mii's closer together. Don't use only 1 date combo tho, cuz then everyone will have the same % basically. This was tested on an american version of the game. I cannot say for certain the european and japanese versions are the same...
About 6 years ago, DanTDM started playing tomodachi life. I was obsessed with it until after an upload of it in 2018, he never made tomodachi life videos again. I was devastated wondering when the next episode would be so in early 2019, i commented on a recent video "PLAY MORE TOMODACHI LIFE!!!!!". After that, someone replied with, "He ended the series, why do you want more?". Well I wanted more, because HIS LAST VIDEO WAS LEFT WITH A CLIFFHANGER BECAUSE OF NEWS FOR HAVING HIS FIRST BABY. IM STILL WONDERING WHEN PART 37 IS COMING OUT.
part 37? that's a lot. I watch Poofesure's Tomodachi Life series, he has more than 50 episodes, if you want to watch another youtuber's videos of this game, I highly recommend it. But if you can't handle swear words then I don't recommend it... Sadly, he stopped playing in his emulator and started in an actual 3ds but, the island in his emulator is more funnier for me. He hasn't uploaded any videos of the game for 2 months now..
There's something about Tomodachi that really makes me wallow and miss what felt like more open and nice times in the mid 2010s. I've always felt this since 2017 even. I don't know what it all is for sure.
The deletion save file is so creepy! When I deleted mine my mii was saying the saddest stuff like: “I’ll miss you.” “Perhaps we’ll meet again” and by the end of the deletion process he just screamed “NOOOOOOOOO!” 😭
Once while I was playing and entered an apartment a mii said "is it cold out there too?" I knew it was because it was winter but it absolutely freaked me out still. My mii wouldn't say anything else either.
I would absolutely love a sequel to Tomodatchi Life. One that expands the formula and that adds more weird events and stuff! I’m sure I’m not the only person who would enjoy this ;)
I don’t think anyone has thought of making a mii look like the opposite gender to cheat the system- like..it’s so simple. Seriously. Way to damn simple.
@@p1nkmage there is a video on it, but hhh it's not really the same in my opinion because they still use the opposite pronouns and there are occasions where the characters do gender related stuff. But it's close enough I guess.
@@agedstring Untrue. "13" was the minimum age of consent way back when each region in Japan was coming up with their own age of consent. It is actually 16-18 depending on the region, 20 in some places. I wish people would actually do research instead of believing the very first google result.😅

Tomodachi life is the equivalent of a slice of life show/sitcom and miitopia is a fantasy adventure game I honestly hope we get more mii based game How cool would it be to have a fire emblem like games but the cast is your mii army
i will never forget the despair i felt the first time i deleted my save data,, god, i cried for hours haha.. the bittersweet “well at least we had fun, right?” while the solemn music plays in the background manages to make you feel emotions you didn’t know you could.
I can’t believe they reused the voice synth from Tomodachi collection... I mean, I don’t care about the reuse, it’s just so hard on the ears. Also, I know you mentioned overall changes, but I’m a little surprised you didn’t mention lyrical changes between the PAL and US versions. It seems to be one of the more well-known changes from what I’ve read, so I expected it to come up.
yeah they are all different (aside from Techno), but thats the kinda thing im reserving for my regional differences video. Though with the voices, they finally replaced them in Miitomo, so hopefully they do the same in a potential sequel
Tbh I’m assuming it never happened cus this games massive localization changes had them think along the lines of “well people in America/Europe don’t know about this” so they replaced it with ballad and added techno and musical

I’m kinda disappointed cuz I deleted my og save file because everybody on the island is getting boring but now every time I make a new save file it’s never the same and it isn’t fun anymore. Wish I never deleted the og one :(
Enka is just the extended version of the enka song in Tomodachi Collection. Also that may be the only song of Tomodachi Collection that doesn't play in the cafe. Also here a little fun fact: In Tomodachi Collection there is a "Dancer" suit in the job section. The description says "Sexy Dancer Suit" And, in Tomodachi collection, pedophillia is accepted. But not same sex couple.

At least Miitopia fulfilled Nintendo’s promise on some level, hopefully in the future we can get a tomodachi life game that allows more blatant gay relationships. Also, you’re right about Enka LMAO
@@ne0ne0n Gay marriage is still illegal in japan actually, but the pride movements in japan have been steadily growing more prevalent. I think it was just that at the time, it was not something Nintendo ever considered (similarly to how you could not change your skin tone in animal crossing until New Horizons)

Honestly, it’s pretty creepypasta-esc. Think about how your miis from years ago constantly await the arrival of their creator, slowly realising the creator is gone, having to fend for themselves. Maybe they realise they’re in a game to something. An abandoned Tomadachi island with starved miis and such, with everything left for years never to be touched again, but they psychically cant die so they’re stuck in endless pain and loneliness, among other things. Unsettling.
random fact i have If you play tomodachi collection new life on a foreign console (using hacks), theres this giant box instead of the normal logo. it will have text that marks what country the console is from
Yeah I would’ve put that and used examples from my homebrewed console (since I’ve got like three regionally different copies) but it wasn’t sumn I initially thought of at the time :,) Strangely enough, the European copy does not do this for me and instead loads the American logo on my American console before instantly crashing when launched. I’ll have to patch that myself manually probably

Redfurt is a combination of the Nintendo Localization cities for USA (Redmond, WA) and Europe (Frankfurt). At least in the USA version, “Redfurt” is etched into the windows on the Café. I always took that to mean that the Café is called Redfurt and it’s a popular enough place that it has merchandise sold at stores.
I’m glad to see a somewhat resurgence of tomodachi life content. I still play my file every once in awhile for a good laugh. I really hope we get a port (with added content) for switch someday :) it seemed popular enough to deserve it

the abandoned children one stuck me with me to be honest, and it reminded me of something that could be similar. i know this may not exactly fit the same mold but it kind of disturbs me. a few years ago i deleted my very first island which was made in 2015. almost 1000 hours were spent on that one island so of course i had a lot of married couples who in total had over 100 children that became travelers. when i deleted that island there were actually some travelers that i still encountered since my brother played the game and received them via streetpass. so when they arrived at my port on my new island it was uncanny to say the least... i would pamper them as usual and sometimes they would say stuff about their lives back home. sometimes they would grow homesick and wonder if their parents are missing them. they would even express interest in returning home. your parents don't miss you, dearie... your parents are dead. you're all on your own, because you don't have a home anymore.

I noticed a few mistakes in your video. The Korean Ritual Dream was from the Korean version, which came out after all of the other versions were released. The Playboy bunny suit also appears in the Korean version.

The bit about the cheating is a little surprising given Vinny some how got Miis to ask other Miis out that were in relationships. Most rejected the Mii asking them out except for Two Face leading to Walrus being heartbroken over their relationship ending.
Really wish they kept a lot of those features. Having miis that are married dating other people would make for great drama lol. That Enka one looked cool TwT
Update: After 2 months, I got them to break up. I booted the game up again and Kaede had another heart, and it was Tenko. (I registered Tenko as a guy for y’know,,, reasons lol) And I don’t know wether to let Kaede confess or not. Help

The mii based off my mother said something that totally rattled me. It was horrible. She said in a dream "When I close my eyes, I still feel as if I am there."

I remember playing Tomodachi Life during christmas 2015 with my cousins, we all got it for our 3ds’ and we were just laying on the floor laughing at the stupid voices and trading items so we could get everything. My cousins on my moms side are twins and legit the first dialogue one got when he tapped on his mii was “Do you have a twin, [cousin]’s look alike?” and it scared us all so much😭 the cryptic dialogue is really funny though so i hope they keep it for the switch release 🤞

vinny's streams had the miis break the fourth wall or say very cryptic stuff a lot, it was stablished as canon that isaac was self aware and had the power to crash the game at own will (which he did in multiple ocassions)
Interesting thing about Miitopia, here in the UK, the TV ads here all said "If you like Tomodachi life, you'll LOVE Miitopia!" basically confirming that it was inspired by Tomodachi life and it was its spiritual successor
I dont know if this is common knowledge or anything but miis can break up with each other on friendly terms. It just happened in my game and I was so surprised since usually when miis break up they are sad.

Something that always disturbed me was that if you delete a Mii and it "moves away somewhere" then the Mii's remaining on the island will carry on living normally without any concern for the mii even if they happened to be a best friend or partner.

Honestly, the message "so and so disappeared somewhere..." when you delete a mii is haunting to me for some reason.

And the creepier thing is, if the mii had any relationships with anyone, the memories of the deleted mii will be completely erased.

I remember on my game, because of all the mentions of "Redfurt", I made a character who was the owner of the Redfurt company and lived in a solid gold room on the top floor of the building.
I think Redfurt is a combination of Redmond Washington (Nintendo of America headquarters), and Frankfurt Germany (Nintendo of Europe headquarters).
That makes sense. Had it been "Frankmond" (though that just sounds silly), it would have been more obvious to me since I'm from Germany myself.

It's only ever happened to me once but there is a rare variety of a break-up, rarely when two miis are in a relationship have a negative relationship (from my experience both miis were at the purple stage which I believe is "Not getting along"), there is a chance that if they are at a location together and you enter it a special cutscene will play out where the conversation goes something like this:
Mii 1: "We had a good run"
Mii 1: "Thanks for everything"
Mii 2: "No, thank you"
And then a text box will appear saying: "Mii 1 and Mii 2 are back to being just friends"
No sadness is triggered and both miis will have each other on their normal friend list instead of the exes list, there isn't much documentation on this event but I know it exists, hell it's so rare I would put it at the bottom of the iceberg
Actually that’s kinda interesting cus I’ve never seen it happen since breakups happen so infrequently on my island, I do know it’s possible for exes to get back together, but I’ve never seen this specifically. I’ll have to look into it!

I had no friends as a kid, I had really bad social anxiety and tomadachi life made me so happy. It finally felt like I had friends and someone to talk to, soon I got into animal crossing and I started to take medication to control my anxiety. Now I have three friends but really they’re some of the best people I’ve ever seen! (also miitopia helped me also!!)

I found out a few months ago that you can manipulate relationships pretty easily.
They're based mainly on birthdays, which is why you can't test miis if they don't have a full birthday.
I beleive it works on an rng seed generator, kinda like a very simple version of minecraft world generation.
This is because, 2 different people's games will not have the same match % with the same dates. But, all Mii's in the same age group will be affected the same on the same catridge/game.
Example: An adult male with a 2/23 1998 birthday and an adult female with a 7/12 1996 birthday have a 89% in the compadability tester. Any adult mii couples with those same birthdays, will have the same base %.
So if you'd want, you could find a group of high % matches in both age groups, and use those if you want to get two certain mii's closer together. Don't use only 1 date combo tho, cuz then everyone will have the same % basically.
This was tested on an american version of the game.
I cannot say for certain the european and japanese versions are the same...
About 6 years ago, DanTDM started playing tomodachi life. I was obsessed with it until after an upload of it in 2018, he never made tomodachi life videos again. I was devastated wondering when the next episode would be so in early 2019, i commented on a recent video "PLAY MORE TOMODACHI LIFE!!!!!". After that, someone replied with, "He ended the series, why do you want more?". Well I wanted more, because HIS LAST VIDEO WAS LEFT WITH A CLIFFHANGER BECAUSE OF NEWS FOR HAVING HIS FIRST BABY. Sadly, he stopped playing in his emulator and started in an actual 3ds but, the island in his emulator is more funnier for me. He hasn't uploaded any videos of the game for 2 months now..
There's something about Tomodachi that really makes me wallow and miss what felt like more open and nice times in the mid 2010s. I've always felt this since 2017 even. I don't know what it all is for sure.

Also, I know you mentioned overall changes, but I’m a little surprised you didn’t mention lyrical changes between the PAL and US versions. It seems to be one of the more well-known changes from what I’ve read, so I expected it to come up.

I think it was just that at the time, it was not something Nintendo ever considered (similarly to how you could not change your skin tone in animal crossing until New Horizons)

Honestly, it’s pretty creepypasta-esc. Think about how your miis from years ago constantly await the arrival of their creator, slowly realising the creator is gone, having to fend for themselves. Maybe they realise they’re in a game to something. An abandoned Tomadachi island with starved miis and such, with everything left for years never to be touched again, but they psychically cant die so they’re stuck in endless pain and loneliness, among other things. Unsettling.

If you play tomodachi collection new life on a foreign console (using hacks), theres this giant box instead of the normal logo. it will have text that marks what country the console is from
Yeah I would’ve put that and used examples from my homebrewed console (since I’ve got like three regionally different copies) but it wasn’t sumn I initially thought of at the time :,)
Strangely enough, the European copy does not do this for me and instead loads the American logo on my American console before instantly crashing when launched. I’ll have to patch that myself manually probably

At least in the USA version, “Redfurt” is etched into the windows on the Café. I always took that to mean that the Café is called Redfurt and it’s a popular enough place that it has merchandise sold at stores.

the abandoned children one stuck me with me to be honest, and it reminded me of something that could be similar. i know this may not exactly fit the same mold but it kind of disturbs me.
a few years ago i deleted my very first island which was made in 2015. almost 1000 hours were spent on that one island so of course i had a lot of married couples who in total had over 100 children that became travelers.
when i deleted that island there were actually some travelers that i still encountered since my brother played the game and received them via streetpass. so when they arrived at my port on my new island it was uncanny to say the least...
i would pamper them as usual and sometimes they would say stuff about their lives back home. sometimes they would grow homesick and wonder if their parents are missing them. they would even express interest in returning home.

The bit about the cheating is a little surprising given Vinny some how got Miis to ask other Miis out that were in relationships. Most rejected the Mii asking them out except for Two Face leading to Walrus being heartbroken over their relationship ending.

The mii based off my mother said something that totally rattled me. It was horrible. She said in a dream "When I close my eyes, I still feel as if I am there."

I remember playing Tomodachi Life during christmas 2015 with my cousins, we all got it for our 3ds’ and we were just laying on the floor laughing at the stupid voices and trading items so we could get everything. My cousins on my moms side are twins and legit the first dialogue one got when he tapped on his mii was “Do you have a twin, [cousin]’s look alike?” and it scared us all so much😭 the cryptic dialogue is really funny though so i hope they keep it for the switch release 🤞

Something that always disturbed me was that if you delete a Mii and it "moves away somewhere" then the Mii's remaining on the island will carry on living normally without any concern for the mii even if they happened to be a best friend or partner.
