Quick Note! I've covered almost EVERY SINGLE mii game in my channel, including ones that are almost undocumented online. Please do pass by my channel and hit those videos up, as it helps me get closer to making this a full time job, before it's too late. Thanks for watching :3 Also~, I completely made a mistake about the photo studio. I forgot it while making the 3D model and never wrote down the message in the video, but it SHOULD still be there, it was originaly next to the interior shop and I misinterpreted my own doodle. I guess I wanted to put it where the gazebo is but the doodle was far too messy. The photo studio should remain in the game, working like the Mii photo studio from Miitomo, and the Photography hobby would go attached to it. I'd go further and make it so that backdrops come from pictures your mii took with the camera gift, or just passively while hobbyist practice. But I'd set aside some backgrounds that don't need unlock, or unlock simply by having Photography miis.
i actually really like the voice approach they took in tomodachi life. if they were too close to their actual voices, it'd feel uncanny when you're creating yourself or people you know, and hearing a completely different person would also feel weird? so the fact that they're a bit squeaky and unnatural is something i greatly appreciate
I mean, some of the voices I suggested, I tested exculssively to find stuff that's unnatural, so I completely agree! It'd be so weird to hear smooth voices, they have to be voices that sound good but struggle to pronounce some things. Hence why I said using more base voices with heavier libraries on the same system. "Take a look inside my head" would sound perfect with some voices, and them completely silly with another. It's funny.
@@Zombina638 thanks for doing the classic "you're not playing the game right" gamer move. can't believe i'm meeting one in the wild. taking pictures right now cause i'm so amazed by your presence
I was gonna comment this same thing, I think the really bad text-to-speech is a huge part of the game's charm and I hope they keep it in the new game. I'm sure it could use a minor update tho
LOVE the addition of the school. One idea I had for a school in Tomodachi is for different school events to be happening every single weekday, such as gym, art, poetry, etc, but on Fridays, if you pop into class, you'll have to take a test. These questions can be based on random things for Islanders have said to you, or just kind of nonsense questions in general. If you pass the quiz, you get a special prize
I always wanted Tomodachi games to just, expand possibilities and stuff to do. It wouldn't be that hard and add more incentive to play new entries in the franchise.
My only problem with your new island it’s a bit hard to see where everything is, when I first looked at your version of the island i could t find things that I were looking for I’d also probably add more contrast between the buildings and the land maybe add a colored border around each place could make it easier to see where everything is. Also a little less trees
Maybe yeah with the trees. Remember, 360 control, the only thing in the island that is hard ish to find is the talent development kiosk. I agree about the contrast tho, I went a bit too bright to match the Nintendo style, I think I did an alright job for my first attempt.
i wouldnt say remove the foliage, but tone down the contrast a little bit. all the different colors was a little confusing to look at additionally, i think the original tomodachi islands did a great job at that :)
Oh, I think that can be fixed with some clickable floating nametags? So that you know where to look. Just an idea tho! As for the graphical style I always thought that it was just a draft, so nothing great in terms of lighting, contrast etc...
I get where you're coming from and feedback is best, cos I'd actually love him to find a way to release this since well, the alternative is nothing, literally nothing at all. Nintendo just abandoned this, so why not someone with passion for the IP do a spiritual successor in everything but name? In that case I'd also want to see their own artistic style shine through rather than try to purely imitate it. Like I said though, I agree with you that some things could be adjusted for clarity or quality of life, but it's difficult trying to cater to everyone as well as maintain your artistic style and vision. Basically let him cook lol
Hahahaha, that would work really well if the miis invited their friend over when their housemate doesn't get along with the invited Mii, that would be so good hahaha.
I think they'll probably make a sequel, tomodachi life was very popular and when miitopia came to switch, it got more popular; it'd be great for Nintendo to make a sequel/remake. Although, I don't think they'd make it for the switch, they should come out with a new handheld or for a new system if they make another soon
Would be kinda pointless, particularly because they would need to use a way more detailed model. Either way the model isn't supposed to be 1:1 with the teorical actual island, as it is in life.
i def think when making miis, you should be able to map out family trees to both your look alike and miis unrelated to you and their relations (i.e. siblings, parents, grandparents, maternal, paternal, half, step). as well as age limitations on love interests. a big criticism i had of life was the unintentional incest that would happen, especially since a lot of my residents were of my family members
if they added the makeup/wig feature from miitopia and gay marriage to the base version then send it out with no additional changes i would be fine with that ngl
@@SmashedTomatoesi would too. there are a few things you mentioned that i wouldnt be content with like locking mii parts behind a skill wall + limited makeup. I really like customization and love placing over 20 pieces of makeup on the eyes alone in miitopia and would be upset if they limited that, and while it might be overwelming for new players with all of the mii parts i think it would be better to be able to make characters that look like the people they are made after than be easier to start out. It would be annoying to have to go with a vastly inferior mii until you unlock the parts you need to semi accurately recreate yourself. Other than that though, i feel like all of the features you mentioned would be exellent additions.
I LOVE THE NAME! Since the original is called "Friend Collection" and the 2nd was called "Friend Life" it would make sense for it to be "Friend Companions"
I feel like the make up and wigs would be in a salon in the shopping district also making it cost money. Maybe even a make up skill, so the more skill a mii has the more options and more layers are available.
Also an idea, turning items into minigames, like when you give them a cooking pan its something like cooking mama or when you dye hair you have a 3D view and have to spray it on the hair urself and things like that. It would be a small change but would make a lot of fun :)
Holy shit this video needs more views!! I love the fact that you try to bring new concepts and ideas while still keeping the vibe of TL that made it so endearing, Nintendo LISTEN TO THIS MAN RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!
Nintendo HQ be like: "What the fuck is a 'companion'? Is that an insult? Myamoto we need to make a game with more toads *takes a 21 week long vacation because of old age*"
Honestly i agree with everything in this video bar the mii limits - personally i really enjoy how players of miitopia could have *any* character they wanted, especially because a lot of popular characters are non-human, so adding that limitation would just add too much frustration for too many people - nintendo couldnt just take a step down like that imo.
@@SmashedTomatoes that is definitely true! Personally I haven't experimented much with the miitopia makeup system besides adding some custom eyes and such. But 100 pieces would be much more realistic :)
@@dljb7463 hm was that an issue? Surprised I didn't notice, in miitopia the majority of my cast were poc or black, so I'm pretty surprised I didn't notice that! That would certainly need to be carried over
@@Vexmus_ its only an issue if you are using a skin tone that isnt one of the default mii ones, you can change the nose and head color but the body wont change aswell, which can look odd at times.
Great concept! I like the idea of daily routines on the island and being able to see what your Miis are up to. Though I don’t think limiting makeup options is a good idea. I love the charm of the old Mii Maker, but the accurate Miis seen in Miitopia made a lot more characters possible. Players still have the option to use less makeup if they prefer simpler Miis and more makeup if they like realistic Miis. Plus, I don’t see Nintendo limiting their makeup options after making such a diverse and well-received system in Miitopia.
I just think it's too much makeup, 100 pieces lets you make miis that are so accurate, you can't leave anything to the imagination. That's why I made makeup options 40 instead of 100, because it allows for miis to be accurate without overblowing the miis. It came to a point where people didn't use the miitopia editor because they couldn't hope to do something cooler than someone else, so you'd end up getting Mii artists and people who just download those miis. I kinda liked seeing a Mii I didn't quite like and figuring out how to make them more accurate. But I see what you mean, and it's not a deal breaker if Nintendo follows either path, both have advantages and disadvantages.
I love the idea of making the miis and the world they live in be a little more vibrant and inserting more stuff to do without making the core game too complex. The thing about Tomodachi Life 2 is that I felt as if the charm of the game wore off once I saw everything the game had to offer. With this approach, I can see me still being entertained even after unlocking everything, and perhaps even extending the speed in which you unlock features throughout the island. And I especially love the idea of toning down the localization/westernization, making the game more unapologetically Japanese will help the "weird" factor of these games be more prominent and may even present an educational opportunity. Of course certain things would still have to be localized for the sake of not alienating an audience but? I dont know, its a balancing act and as long as you're able to get the general idea of something it should be fine. Overall I find the look of the island and a few of the new features interesting and I so wish Nintendo could give us a game that had even a quarter of this. Obviously the pitch isnt perfect and youd realistically would need to touch up some of the UI visuals with a team if this were a genuine production, but id otherwise 100% play this as-is.
I also feel like your taking away a lot of the randomness and simplicity the game is built on. I don’t think each mini should have some routine or hobbies besides the stuff that’s given after each level. Giving each mii a routine just makes the player think about too many things and strategize for each day and Id just want have a very casual experience above everything. Tomodachi life for me is game I can just go on at any time(well not every time because my 2ds’s battery has to be charged manually to work because I broke my 2ds last year at school) and just vibe Id want the only thing I have to worry about are love problems and the night market. These are just my personal opinions and I’m no game designer so I’m sorry if this is dumb
Nah, you good. I guess I didn't put across well enough that you can just hop in and play. miis having a schedule doesn't stop them from having troubles and loves and stuff, so most of the features I propose here are all about the miis you choose to put in the island. It's all about giving incentive for having tons of miis. More miis, the easier it is to hop on and have a variety of activities. The real strategy is "what miis should I set up together", something which you already do in TL simply because it's fun. I think they are good changes, but some tweaks can totally help.
Going back here again because I noticed you're pretty responsive, but I feel as if the family and baby system could be reworked so it feels a lot more fleshed out. I felt a problem with this whole system is that there weren't enough unique interactions across family members, and I also felt the only Miis who ever acknowledged a baby's existence were their parents and whoever visited them (not even their siblings, a totally missed opportunity). For general family mechanics: - We should get the ability to manually set familial relationships between Miis (excluding romantic partners) and I'm surprised why this was never the case from the start. It could be streamlined to siblings, parents, and other relatives (grandparents, cousins etc.) but this change would be SUPER helpful as an anti-incest mechanic and for immersion (both for real-life family and fictional characters). - Admittedly I don't know how to fully differentiate familial relationships that much from standard ones (especially sibling relationships)., but I think siblings could be able to introduce friends to each other automatically or rub off on each other a lot more if their relationship level is high. Now onto babies and children specifically: - I feel like there could be more individual behavioural quirks among babies depending on their personality group/type such as: ** Easygoing babies could be more timid and emotional. They would cry more easily, but also be the most appreciative of affection. ** Outgoing/Energetic and Confident babies could demand more of your attention and generally be a bit more vocal and lively. ** Independent/Reserved babies would generally have the flattest expressions overall, and would hardly emote or vocalize (this also means they'd cry the least often of all babies). - Older siblings would actually be more proactive in raising their younger siblings alongside their parents (instead of going out to buy milk and never returning), generally having similar interactions with the babies as their parents but also some more unique interactions. They'd even call you like the parents do if they need help calming the baby down. - Other Miis who are friends with a baby's parents or siblings would actually acknowledge the baby's existence in both their dialogue and interactions. - Parents and siblings would be able to introduce babies to their friends. They could be able to befriend grown child Miis early on, as well as other babies (I'd also imagine babies/toddlers would have unique interactions with each other, too). - Babies/toddlers who are on the last stages before being fully grown will be able to speak to you and have actual dialogue, though a bit more limited compared to fully grown Miis. They should also be able to inherit some of their family members' given phrases, maybe mimicking them every so often. - Tying into your other ideas, older siblings might introduce younger siblings to hobbies or have other interactions like helping them out with homework or doing nice things for their parents. - From an actual player interaction perspective, I don't know what could be added or reworked. Maybe there could be things like toys or other activities/minigames to do with the baby. - Actual consequences if you go out of your way to intentionally make a baby cry and then leave (the problem would be how the game would know if your actions were on purpose or intentional, like how parents will get mad at you for shaking a baby violently), like the family members chewing you out and making you calm the baby down (like the normal calls). - There'd also need to be some means of implementing Explorers without StreetPass, something I'm drawing blanks on. And some miscellaneous changes to throw in as a bonus: -A third Mii age stage, Teen, would slot in between Kids and Grown-ups and encompass any Mii within the 13-17 age range. To be honest, the main reason why I bring up this idea is so that teens would only enter romantic relationships with each other for the same reasons kids and grown-ups certainly don't get romantically involved with each other. The fact an 9 year old and a 15 year old could date at all is incredibly creepy and both parties being minors does not change this.
For the manual setting of family members, wasn't it already implemented in Tomodachi Life? I remember you could add the relationship they had, regarding your Mii look-alike, when you created them. But maybe are you talking about the other Miis? For that, yeah I never included a brother or sister from any of my friends so Idk how it worked 😬. Sorry if my explanation is a bit cryptic, English is not my first langage lol
This video was incredibly well made and was an absolute blast to watch! Love all of your ideas soooo much, especially the hobbies! Nintendo needs to hire u fr fr
Eh, I'd take super giant or devolver hehehe. I would be a terrible fit at nintendo, my extent of japanese knowhow is when the anime character goes "NAANIIIII"
There are a couple things I would add just to make the island more interesting: 1: Volcano / Other Natural Disasters (no, no mii dies from them dw, but buildings might need to be repaired which should take half an hour at max) 2: Spahouse (basically another place for your miis to relax in, having all the standards for a luxury spahouse) 3: Pet store ( your miis should now have permanent pets that you can customize too, imagine the frisbee dog from wii sports but you can customize it) That’s all I’ve got to say, feel free to comment other ideas
Natural disasters have no place in tomodachi, and the spahouse is better as a fake space like the ones I put in the news tower. The pet store could be, permanent pets would muddle the experience with miis too much, plus it would mean you'd need to focus more on the pets, which means more development time on very minor features. I wouldn't add it, but it could be a good addition for a later game / DLC.
@@SmashedTomatoes I have to disagree with some of what you said, natural disasters are just a fact of life. Maybe it’s stuff that happens in the background like a stormy day where miis are forced to stay inside. As far as the pets go? i would limit it to customization and your miis are the ones taking care of their pets like responsible owners, at most they might ask for cash to buy them a toy or outfit
I absolutely love Tomodachi Life, I really hope that another game gets made of it! This video is really well done, I love all of your ideas (and to bring the everybody votes channel back is definitely a good choice!) I’d love a more detailed game, more customizable, and adding a school and workplace leads to more wacky surreal things that could happen there. And the houses are Beautiful, I love how you made their layout look nicer! Good job! And great video
Someone HIRE this man. the amount of creativity is impecible. I doubt nintendo would go with this style but this genuinely shocks me at how high quality it is. Just imagine 100%ing this game. It'd take MONTHS due to the amount of things u can do. this deserves MUCH more views then it already has. well done indeed
Thanks! I hope someone does hire me if push comes to shove and RUclips doesn't work out. I'd have so much fun and pain 100% something like this, but it would be so worthwhile! Thanks for watching!!
We NEED you 😭😭😭 I pray everynight for a tomodachi life 3. It’s time!! The DS and 3DS aren’t as accessible for many people anymore due to the stop in making them. I hope your career as a game designer goes 100% because this is beyond amazing! Your so so so talented. Tysm for bringing back some memories in this video and giving me some hope for the future ❤❤
im a little late but this man is amazing like ive never seen anybody literally make a model like this for a concept like u are amazing and i hope nintendo takes some notes bc my childhood needs to be not forgotten
I love all these ideas they definitely would bring life to the island (hobbies especially) imo tho more icons in the apartments would be cool too (hunger having its own icon, miis wanting to break up would have a broken heart icon instead of a friend one, and so on)
I thought about adding that to my mock, but I rendered the first 2 or 3 shots early, so I couldn't. Not like it would add much, it's cool to have the suspense of "what is it?" before you go into the mii's apartment, I think.
this video is really well done and well thought out! i cant even explain how much i want another tomodachi game (specifically with the miitopia makeup stuff). nintendo should straight up hire you i think, because i would buy this game in a heartbeat and play it a potentially unhealthy amount.
It be great if a history museum was in the game. Referencing Collection, Life, and dare I say Wuhu island aswell. Not only that, but if a Mii has a pet, on the walks they should totally take their dog with them on a timely basis. Perhaps after work or at some point in the afternoon. Or the mii could ask you to walk the dog for him/her! With gameplay similar to Nintendogs. (An experiment to see if people react well to the gameplay) this will gigw nintend an idea of how people feel about nintendogs Adding to that, the park should have a dog section! Oh that would be amazing! Another idea is changng tomodachi quest to a bite sized miitopia minigame at the fair. Accessed exactly where that smug face machine is. (Nice reference) Just one full level with a battle or two in it and a final more larger battle at the end with 4 miis and the jobs are randomized. That would be helarious! Btw. Any manner the buildings will be unlocked? Like say: the theatre will be unlocked once a mii lies to someone else or something. Or the dog park will unlock when 2 miis have dogs. That and also an idea for the school: it will unlock once a kid is born OR an under aged mii enters the island. That way the school isnt entirely dependant on Mii babies. And a few events that culd be added can be Wii Sports references. A Sword fight mingame could be played OR bowling maybe? All of the sport minigames happen at the fair. I understand if this comment gets overviewed but it be awesome if you culd provide feedback upon this idea.
Some of these would be a little expensive on production, but they are neat ideas. For example, I wouldn't return an RPG based minigame like Quest, but having more minigames that are relatively fleshed out available at different hours and weekdays is an idea I get behind a lot. Actually, I imagined the dogs playing at the ruins, but it could be cool if miis themselves could choose. The museum would have to be relegated to the art gallery in the shardish building. Well, I know some unlock criteria for stuff, such as: Mii Housing: Have best friends / a couple move in together. Second apartment building: Have more than 30 Miis. Theater: 3 miis getting a mutual friendship or a mii developing the music/film hobby to level 3. Fountain / Restaurant: Have a mii ask another out. Campsite: Finish the initial tutorial. that kind of stuff.
@@SmashedTomatoes that's fair. Ngl though the friends moving together idea is pretty cool! Instead of lovey-dovey situations you can see them playing together on a game console multi-player. They have the wii/wii u/switch to choose from in terms of games to play together. And hearing the sounds the consoles make just bring memories to my brain I love it! Wii: wii sports/resort Wii u: nintendo land Ds: collections sfx as a reference 3ds: life as a reference, or they could be playing street pass mii plaza togwther if they both have a 3ds. And sfx would be a cool nostalgia trip to those who grew up with the 3ds Switch: Mario oddesey or maker/Switch Sports/Go Vacation (if they get permission to use the sfx) Just little background situations I think would be charming to see the miis experiance. Plus, if the game is seen to have amazing numbers in sales, I'm sure the budget could increase atleast a little. Just to polish a couple things and add more. Edit: And custom clothing would be amazing! Similar to animal crossing new horizons and its custom shirts!
I love tomodachi life, and your ideas for a sequel are pretty good! There is a lot about it that I myself don’t really care for like the map being too cluttered, some hobbies just being jobs, and the whole skill thing. I feel like the miis should progress on their own with little help from the player. Even though i have a couple complaints, overall it’s a good idea and I would totally buy it if it did come out :)
I would also really like if they added a "costum gender" option for ppl out of the binary where you could write on your prefered pronouns and your gender, then in the statistics they could put "other" or smtg
the new game should definitely let you when making mii’s decide their gender and sexuality, they could just word it like “I am a -> Guy/Girl/Neither/Whatever. I like -> Guys/Girls/Doesn’t Matter”
This is awesome! Would you still be able to call Miis even if they're at work? Or would it be like the sims, where it registers them as missing a day? It'd be kind of funny to have a sequence where a Mii gets fired
OMG THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Thank you so much for making this it’s so awesome and you put a lot of effort into making this I really like all your ideas and concepts especially the one where you can customise your miis like in Miitopia! I really hope they do end up making another game but all we can do for now is hope! I’m also glad more people are talking about how there should be another game.
so glad tomodachi life is getting talked about by people maybe we can literally get this into Nintendo's head. HELLLLP I'M SO FLIPPIN IMPATIENT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR TOMODACHI LIFE 2 FOR AGES NOW NINTENDO GOD HELP ME I'M SO HOPELESS I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. Hello everybody and welcome back to I typed a comment at midnight.
You know, these "Lets make a sequel" videos are always fun to watch, but it's VERY EASY for me to start questioning or complaining some of the choices and changes (specifically if those changes are too drastic), but damn dude, you knock it out of the park! Besides the island looking a bit too cluttered for my taste, i have ZERO complains, if this was word for word the game i would buy it in a heartbeat. As a mii fanatic myself, hats off to you.
Also thank you for not dwelling on the whole same sex relationships and gender discussion for too long, i get it, it something that they definitely should add, but it always felt like it's the ONLY thing people talk about, when you need so much more than that to make a TL sequel.
I knew I was gonna focus for 12 hours on the island, so I figured just mentioning the gender stuff quickly was best. There's many other important things I mention quickly because explaining the reasoning behind them was only going to be tedious and boring to watch. I'm glad you liked my ideas, it makes me glad to see people appreciate my game design addiction.
I really love the ideas and presentation here! I would′ve appreciated some subtitles since your speech is admittedly a bit too fast and hard to understand at times, but I got the gust of what you′re saying. I loved Tomodachi Life, but it′s biggest issue is that you can see all of it very quickly, making it harder and more boring to go back to, in addition to it′s lack of player agency or interactivity, so this sequel seems to be a major fix! I disagree about limiting Mii customization with makeup and the Miitomo parts, but otherwise I 100% support the structure and mechanics, and would love to play this game if it were real! Congrats on such a great video!
Amazing video you got there, the visuals were really well accomplished, and the Mii behaviours and schedules is a really good thing imo, as well as the housing diversity and customization. A thing that could be great for me is a return and ampliation of travel boats in the pier, using the Internet and letting all your Miis be able to travel and move to other player's islands. Ofc that would be their own idea, so if a Mii wasn't feeling right on the island (if they had a strong break up for example) they would come to you and ask to move to another island, and you could either accept their petition or decline it. In case you accepted, the Mii would apply for citizenship in other islands. To get migrant Miis you would need go to the Town Hall and accept citizenship requests from other Miis, and in a positive case they would get an apartment like any other resident and start living there. And Miis could also return to their native island with a partner, a full or with friends from the other island they lived in. This allows for more Mii mobility and a more organic and realistic Tomodachi universe in which all player's islands are truly connected.
I'd love that until Nintendo Online Membership goes Brrrr. But you're not kidding, Tomodachi 3 should have multiplayer features, whether it's sending miis to others or simply visiting and taking care of their miis while they are away. That'd go very hard.
this is genuinely so cool, there are so many opportunities for a sequel and i love this game so i love tomodachi life. I hope they make a new one. it would also be super cool, you were talking about a mii losing an item, what if you had to find it somewhere on the island that would also keep the silliness of the original game when you find someones cell phone on the roof of a skyscraper
WOAH BRO YOU REALLY PUT A LOT OF EFFORT IN THIS!! this is amazing seriously, I love it, this would be the PERFECT sequel to tomodachi life :) if something like this came out, I would buy the switch just to play this tbh
Since 5/2 2023 i installed tomodachi collection on my melon-ds and i love it! This is my first streak of your videos, and this is the third! ya boy needs more subs and likes
20:59 "Cuche avec moi"... im scared now. Also, WOAH YOU PUT SO MUCH EFFORTS INTO THIS AWESOME VIDEO! THAT'S IMPRESSIVE, GOOD JOB! And i love all your ideas, i really hope there will be a new Tomodachi game
Even if there are things I disagree with, this was great! I think the way I would've handled makeup is to be one of the things you can unlock for a Mii after they level up. When leveling up your Mii again after unlocking makeup, you can unlock more features or expand the limit of items. That way, you can sacrifice simplicity to get more features if you really want to by working for it. Also the option to customize the apartment building and other buildings like that.
Codes would break unlocking too much of it tho, why would you level up a stat if you can use codes to download a Mii which should be available from the very beginning? It's a balance that I didn't fully figure out as it was a minor thing.
although there are a few things i disagree with (ie limiting the makeup system and removing the old voices) i think this is a really good and well thought out interpretation of a sequel!
I still think the "old voices, newer system" approach is pretty neat. Just adding more accents and voice types can have many cool benefits! Also removing makeup? That'd suck! I meant limiting it, not removing it!! >O
I think u have a very good idea here. I tend to not mind the limitations of the mii maker too much cuz it adds to the personality of the game imo tho it would be cool to have more options.
Limits breed creativity! That's what I always say, although this video is entirely a product of removing the limitations of my underpowered computer X3
No way I immediately recognised the Charlie mii. Anyway, I would love accents for miis! I want to give all of mine a similar one to mine. It will make me happy Update: I watched the entire video, now I can't open Tomodachi Life without thinking it will be like this 😭
This 3D model is REALLY impressive! I would love to have a closer look at it! Also small note from an Game Animation Student: Maybe use stronger Keyframe Interpolation for the camera, and also avoid quick camera rotations specifically, especially if you don't center them around a point of reference, as those tend to cause motion sickness. I know that yes, having a everything in one very long dolly ride is really cool, and helps with making the island feel connected, but sometimes, hard cuts might be a better choice. If you want to somewhat keep the continuity, you can make the different shots include items from the prior shot in a prominent position, to establish the physical proximity that way. (My animation lecturer always scolded my projects for exactly that, so I just thought that maybe, this might be a helpful to you, too.)
Hahaha, you can actually see it how I started using hard cuts later on and the shots become a little nicer. I was really just trying to find interesting ways to show the model, not really trying to create an animation or anything. That said, you are very right! I use a lot more cuts in my animations that have characters and stuff exactly because of that. Good luck with your studies!!
Id love to see someone build this but the amount of stuff theyd have to do to make it truly better reminds us of why there are studios with many programmers
I know this could have its flaws, but what if you had an option in the settings to walk around the island to get to places instead of clicking it? Again, it would be optional, but walking around the island would make it so cool! And you could see miis doing what they do at the park when they aren’t home
You'd need to model the island entirely different for that to work, and even then, tomodachi life's game flow works better through screens. It would be such a notable feature, you'd have redesign some of the game around it.
I may not like the name, but I don't care if it means we get tomodachi 3. They could call it "Spinning Friendship tester for ordinary fellows" and I'd be down
one idea ive been thinking about since i first got the game as a kid would be that when miis get married, they leave their apartments permanently and leave it vacant for a new islander, and this opens up opportunities to decorate the houses
@@candycoloredprotagonist this could be a great mechanic in many ways! The problem is that you'd run out of apartments if they are maxed out and miis get divorced
Thanks! I doubt that too, as I said, Nintendo would be lazy and very purist. I'll buy it day one if it comes out and stream the crap out of it. 6 hour stream. Okay maybe less.
Ibelieve a sequel should have a way bigger island in which miis can walk around and maybe allow for us to actually control our main one in first person so that you can walk down the street and see your miis playing basketball or in a park party….
The map has a problem. Putting two buildings into one could have a few problems. Like what if you want to go a specific one but let’s say there is a event or something like that.
more bottons, or extended menus. It's a pretty easy fix tbf. Also, events already stack in tomodachi, just try going into the game while there's rap battles. The game will first put the donations event, then the beatboxing event. Just a simple button set could fix the issue easily.
Omg I also made my own Tomodachi Life 3! I got so sick of waiting for a new one that I just ended up trying to make ideas for my own and your ideas are similar to mine which I thought was pretty cool. I also really like the approach you took to the customization for Miis. I never really liked the Miitopia customization because it always felt off, and I think it’s because of what you said. And also it’s just way more fun to create weird Miis while trying to make them look like anime or video game characters. And that’s how we get such classic Miis.
I've recently been playing with Mii creation without size and position constraints, and I'm surprised at the quantity of stuff you can do, I managed to make pretty accurate miis without any custom objects! I hope they do make a tomodachi 3 soon :c
I'm using blender in any way I can. I would do a pretty shody job at nintendo, I barely know japanese! And by barely I mean I understand when the anime character goes "Masaka"
This is honestly the best concept video for a tomodachi life sequel I've ever seen. It's everything I'd want for a new game and still retains the charm of the original
I really like this video. Instead of giving ideas only, you took your ideas and implemented into it. It may have taken time however it must gave paid off! Please make another vid about this if you can. Also I like the idea of adding more stuff like the school and the tower thingy as in “life” when you see your miis in the train station, the fancy resteraunt, and the school it really made no sense. Yes it will sell. Amazing video!!!
Glad you like it! I actually can't make any other videos about it because I think the idea is super well painted here, but also because I stole a super computer from my university to render the island model, and I have finished that X3 Maybe I could try making a prototype of it, but it would take so long D:
This is too good, Nintendo would just literally make a remaster and call it a day with little to no addition. I would buy your Tomodachi Companions in a heartbeat fr
@@SmashedTomatoes AAAAH FR!! i’ll keep praying everytime there’s a new direct honestly 😭🗣️🗣️ this concept is just so cool ahsbshusjns i’ll be thinking about it for a while >:DD 💖💖
@@SmashedTomatoes Inspiring, awesome work :) Maybe someday I, too, will have the motivation to try to create something else than the beginner project snowman lmao. Very cool!
i think with the shots of the miis walking around while you talk to them, they should add 2 "lanes" so that maybe another mii can walk past them and have a little interaction or dialogue? (i love this so much i hope nintendo add this to something!! :3)
Would be cool if miis walked to places together if they had similar schedules, so you'd sometimes see 2 miis there, and of course couples would hold hands and parents would have a stroller, it would be so cute!
Bro I recommend you get a pop filter for your mic, the plosive p sounds are lowkey annoying if you know (the boom sounds whenever a P is used like a “puh” sound) but a pop filter is only a few dollars and it gets rid of those entirely, sick video regardless I rlly liked it
I think that when a Mii is hanging out with another Mii, when you go into the apartment to feed the Mii or something, that the other Mii should be there just walking around n stuff.... : -)
This video and concept has so much SOUL. Not to dunk on anyone in particular, but a lot of videos conceptually similar to this one are dull, suggesting predictable and surface-level changes. It’s obvious that you’re having fun while talking about something you care about and that’s awesome.
I'm glad you noticed! I really wanted to propose interesting mechanics instead of predictable stuff. I also saw some videos on this idea to find out what mechanics people want. It's a good balance, I think.
hell yeah let's celebrate, even the new island looks beautiful in my opinion, the buildings do seem a bit funky though except for the mii apartments, the food shop, the school (i think it's a school?), and the pier area
I have a really cool, albeit pretty ambitious idea for the music hall: What if, when you max out a mii's music skill, you can just full on make your own songs. Of course theres gonna be limitations, like instrument quality, but what if we got the ability to pick a genre (that would determine what instruments are used) and edit individual notes for each instrument. Example, for rock you can edit the melodies/rhythms for guitar 1, guitar 2, electric bass, and drums. Add lyrics on top of those, and change the rhythms and pitches for each syllable, and badaboom. It might be a bit much but you could have the ability to make really funny songs, or bangers too. It could be like a miniature beepbox
That would be hilarious, but definately too ambitious. There IS the possibility of someone at Nintendo having a tech demo of that that could be implemented into the game tho, We'd have to count ourselves extremely lucky in that case tho.
the concept of this new game has me wishing nintendo would just make smth like this already lol one thing i would say though is that the camera movement at some points felt a little nauseating at times, especially when movement was rapid or fast paced. just smth to keep in mind for future videos/concepts! otherwise wonderful video!
I mean, it would. You are not unlocking everything at the start. If a feature doesn't work without enough Miis and isn't a core feature, then it's a matter of locking it until the player gets there!
I like a lot of your ideas like walking and fleshed out personalities, as well as your new island mock up! I also feel like it gets to the point where it’s too much though, and is somewhat overwhelming (like the talent point thing, I can’t imagine going through every islander to assign their points every day).
I dd mention the points are assigned automatically if there's no player input, that way miis still develop their hobbies if you can't play any given day for some reason.
While I'd love to have a position testing or helping game design for Nintendo, I am not quite good at japanese. The extence of my knowladge is "mukashi mukashi"
Quick Note! I've covered almost EVERY SINGLE mii game in my channel, including ones that are almost undocumented online. Please do pass by my channel and hit those videos up, as it helps me get closer to making this a full time job, before it's too late. Thanks for watching :3
Also~, I completely made a mistake about the photo studio.
PLEASE Remake this video again
I want to be a game developer and love Tomodachi LIfe so this is great!

@@Cliffordlonghead 100% did not. I address it like in the first 8 minutes
i actually really like the voice approach they took in tomodachi life. if they were too close to their actual voices, it'd feel uncanny when you're creating yourself or people you know, and hearing a completely different person would also feel weird? so the fact that they're a bit squeaky and unnatural is something i greatly appreciate
It's funny.
Honestly i don’t mind realistic voices that sound too close
Buddy u have not been playing this game correctly and it shows lol
Ooo, I do like the idea of weekly games that depend on the player recurrently playing.
I always wanted Tomodachi games to just, expand possibilities and stuff to do. It wouldn't be that hard and add more incentive to play new entries in the franchise.
Also, interesting quote at 20:30 in the sleeping part... It would just be missing an "-o"
Nintendo's sleeping. This shit would sell more than well.
I agree about the contrast tho, I went a bit too bright to match the Nintendo style, I think I did an alright job for my first attempt.
i wouldnt say remove the foliage, but tone down the contrast a little bit. all the different colors was a little confusing to look at
additionally, i think the original tomodachi islands did a great job at that :)

This would be like my DREAM for this to get a sequel lol. Also amazing concept for a sequel!
Ey thanks. It's my dream even harder. A game I love plus the cool content I could make about it? Sign me up!!
I think they'll probably make a sequel, tomodachi life was very popular and when miitopia came to switch, it got more popular; it'd be great for Nintendo to make a sequel/remake. Although, I don't think they'd make it for the switch, they should come out with a new handheld or for a new system if they make another soon
I think there should be a free roam mode, you would play as your first mii's lookalike, and just roam the island
Hard agree. Big time.
if they added the makeup/wig feature from miitopia and gay marriage to the base version then send it out with no additional changes i would be fine with that ngl
Probably same, but I'd love to see new events and environments.
@@SmashedTomatoes Honestly, a 1 for 1 remaster would be fine by me.

I feel like the make up and wigs would be in a salon in the shopping district also making it cost money. Maybe even a make up skill, so the more skill a mii has the more options and more layers are available.
That could perfectly fly! Tho I'd make sure you don't need to have a max level Mii to unlock all the options
This is a fair point. I think you can already do most of them with 40 pieces, but I sound unsure because people do enjoy the editor with 100 pieces.
@@SmashedTomatoes that is definitely true! Personally I haven't experimented much with the miitopia makeup system besides adding some custom eyes and such. But 100 pieces would be much more realistic :)
I kinda wish you could change the skin color of the rest of the body instead of just the head
I'm mostly a programmer, so yeah, give the art team my concepts and let them do the magic.
I think they are good changes, but some tweaks can totally help.
i agree too tbh, i love the randomness and simplicity, that’s why i love the game
For general family mechanics:
- We should get the ability to manually set familial relationships between Miis (excluding romantic partners) and I'm surprised why this was never the case from the start.
Now onto babies and children specifically:
- I feel like there could be more individual behavioural quirks among babies depending on their personality group/type such as:
** Easygoing babies could be more timid and emotional.
And some miscellaneous changes to throw in as a bonus:
-A third Mii age stage, Teen, would slot in between Kids and Grown-ups and encompass any Mii within the 13-17 age range.
Y'know what, I think I could just straight up make one big document in my spare time on how to address the "Tomodachi sequel" concept.
There are a couple things I would add just to make the island more interesting:
1: Volcano / Other Natural Disasters (no, no mii dies from them dw, but buildings might need to be repaired which should take half an hour at max)
2: Spahouse (basically another place for your miis to relax in, having all the standards for a luxury spahouse)
3: Pet store ( your miis should now have permanent pets that you can customize too, imagine the frisbee dog from wii sports but you can customize it)
That’s all I’ve got to say, feel free to comment other ideas
This video is really well done, I love all of your ideas (and to bring the everybody votes channel back is definitely a good choice!) I love all these ideas they definitely would bring life to the island (hobbies especially) imo tho more icons in the apartments would be cool too (hunger having its own icon, miis wanting to break up would have a broken heart icon instead of a friend one, and so on)
I thought about adding that to my mock, but I rendered the first 2 or 3 shots early, so I couldn't.
Nintendo should not hire me, I donno japanese. My knowledge of it extends to anime characters going "DONDAKEEEE"
(An experiment to see if people react well to the gameplay) this will gigw nintend an idea of how people feel about nintendogs
Adding to that, the park should have a dog section! Oh that would be amazing!
Another idea is changng tomodachi quest to a bite sized miitopia minigame at the fair.
Accessed exactly where that smug face machine is. (Nice reference)
Just one full level with a battle or two in it and a final more larger battle at the end with 4 miis and the jobs are randomized.
Well, I know some unlock criteria for stuff, such as:
Mii Housing: Have best friends / a couple move in together.
Wii: wii sports/resort
Wii u: nintendo land
Ds: collections sfx as a reference
3ds: life as a reference, or they could be playing street pass mii plaza togwther if they both have a 3ds. And sfx would be a cool nostalgia trip to those who grew up with the 3ds
Switch: Mario oddesey or maker/Switch Sports/Go Vacation (if they get permission to use the sfx)
Just little background situations I think would be charming to see the miis experiance.
Plus, if the game is seen to have amazing numbers in sales, I'm sure the budget could increase atleast a little.
Just to polish a couple things and add more.
Edit:
And custom clothing would be amazing! Similar to animal crossing new horizons and its custom shirts!
Wow that map concept looks amazing, id love it if we got something like that
Sure would be awesome. I really wonder what they will go for whenever THEY do it...
It's just a matter of seeing what Nintendo will do if they do.
bro really said
"I guess i'll do this by myself"
Only the first steps, but yeah
I would also really like if they added a "costum gender" option for ppl out of the binary where you could write on your prefered pronouns and your gender, then in the statistics they could put "other" or smtg
Yeah, that should probably go, Tomodachi is about the only game that could have voiced pronouns.
the new game should definitely let you when making mii’s decide their gender and sexuality, they could just word it like “I am a -> Guy/Girl/Neither/Whatever. I like -> Guys/Girls/Doesn’t Matter”
hard pass
@@NotLegendaryLol nah, hard accept
11:51 bro used one of the gazebo models from toontown online. i love that.
I spotted a cool gazebo in Kingdom Hearts BBS and tried finding it. Got the next best thing.
This is awesome!
Would you still be able to call Miis even if they're at work? Or would it be like the sims, where it registers them as missing a day? It'd be kind of funny to have a sequence where a Mii gets fired
Too much realism. You'd just talk to them like normal, but they'll be in the break room at their job instead of at their apartment.
Now if only nintendo used their ears for once...
I think it would be cool if mii news would involve mii's hobbies like say "Peter Griffin's Art Gallery is open!" or something like that
Oh yeah, that's definitely a feature that should be a given.
@@SmashedTomatoes And you could actually visit Peter Griffin's art gallery or see Quandale Dingle's concert
@@forkwithasuit "Quandale Dingles concert" is SENDING me💀
so glad tomodachi life is getting talked about by people maybe we can literally get this into Nintendo's head.
Did I NOT say 3 like 3 times?
I need it in my life too, I'm just better at pretending everything is fine when I go outside.
Thanks for watching! Sorry about the speech, it's a really uncommon accent.
0:21 loved that random marshmallow thing lol, the expressions are great
I'm glad you like Nate and his bjillion sprites.
This is a great concept for a sequel! I'm craving Tomodachi life for the switch! Also the island model in the video looks awesome!
I'm craving more tomodachi too. I'm also craving food. I'm hungry.
This is very detailed. I would love this! Great job!
Glad you liked it.
this is genuinely so cool, there are so many opportunities for a sequel and i love this game so i love tomodachi life. I hope they make a new one.
it would also be super cool, you were talking about a mii losing an item, what if you had to find it somewhere on the island that would also keep the silliness of the original game when you find someones cell phone on the roof of a skyscraper
Yeah, that'd be funny X3
Until you find something weird like a rope at the office or a shoe on the beach :c
WOAH BRO YOU REALLY PUT A LOT OF EFFORT IN THIS!! this is amazing seriously, I love it, this would be the PERFECT sequel to tomodachi life :) if something like this came out, I would buy the switch just to play this tbh
Glad I made such a good concept.
Here's hoping Nintendo delivers...
Since 5/2 2023 i installed tomodachi collection on my melon-ds and i love it! This is my first streak of your videos, and this is the third! ya boy needs more subs and likes
Hahaha, do watch my content on other things if you want to help!
Have a lot of fun with collection, it is smaller, but also very cute!
You. Made a whole 3d world of your concept. Wow.
Yes I did...
Yes I did...
I think the dumb 2010's text-to-speech is perfect for tomodachi life, just give them access to Siri's voice database and you'll be good to go
I'd hate Siri miis lol. I'm fine with 2015 tts with extra base samples X3
This is so important to me
Imagine me!, just look at the view count of this compared to my usual videos.
Thanks! I hope so as well, since it's just an awesome franchise and a fun af game!
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!
I would pay 100 dollars for this!!!!
I would too, but very angrily.
It will make me happy
Update: I watched the entire video, now I can't open Tomodachi Life without thinking it will be like this 😭
Lmao sorry! You'll get over it, don't worry.
Good luck with your studies!!
great video my friend, they released Miitopia so they are kind of obliged to give us our Tomodachi Life for Switch😂
Oh they are. Not because of miitopia tho, but because I hired real hitmen to ensure the job gets done.
Id love to see someone build this but the amount of stuff theyd have to do to make it truly better reminds us of why there are studios with many programmers
Yeah, this is a team's work, not a solo dev's. That said, I definately would like to see someone try their hand at making a tomodachi-like!
Tomadachi World. 🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
@@SmashedTomatoes ohh yeah thats fair 😭😭
Your ideas are awesome! But I kinda doubt Nintendo would use them… But I’d still buy it because YAY 3RD TOMODACHI LIFE GAME!
That's just wii sports, not tomodachi. I'd definitely love a sports game with that whole thing, but not a tomodachi.
I need this in my life now please nintendo!! ✋😭😭
I agree!!
I want tomodachi life with a hyper-robust mii creator for the Switch 2
Do I even need so say it?
Nintendo...
Hire this man
I'm using blender in any way I can.
I would do a pretty shody job at nintendo, I barely know japanese! And by barely I mean I understand when the anime character goes "Masaka"
This is honestly the best concept video for a tomodachi life sequel I've ever seen. It's everything I'd want for a new game and still retains the charm of the original
@@OmegaKatana Agreed!
I actually can't make any other videos about it because I think the idea is super well painted here, but also because I stole a super computer from my university to render the island model, and I have finished that X3
Maybe I could try making a prototype of it, but it would take so long D:
Oh amazing job on the vid tho!
This is too good, Nintendo would just literally make a remaster and call it a day with little to no addition. I would buy your Tomodachi Companions in a heartbeat fr
I truly do hope they try to make some additions on the formula if we get a sequel.
THIS IS AMAZING OMG!! so well and carefully thought out 😭😭 i genuinley want to play it so so bad!!
Same, that's why I made this video.
The switch successor HAS to have a tomodachi game in store, I refuse to believe otherwise.

It's shape is inspired by a magatama, which represents the soul.
Maybe the tears of the kingdom are based on that as well?
@@SmashedTomatoes yeah probably
this is so good omg your ideas should be heard!!!!
Ehehehehe, thanks! I think I did a pretty good job myself!
i think with the shots of the miis walking around while you talk to them, they should add 2 "lanes" so that maybe another mii can walk past them and have a little interaction or dialogue? (i love this so much i hope nintendo add this to something!! :3)
Would be cool if miis walked to places together if they had similar schedules, so you'd sometimes see 2 miis there, and of course couples would hold hands and parents would have a stroller, it would be so cute!
Bro I recommend you get a pop filter for your mic, the plosive p sounds are lowkey annoying if you know (the boom sounds whenever a P is used like a “puh” sound) but a pop filter is only a few dollars and it gets rid of those entirely, sick video regardless I rlly liked it
@@Nmasih I recall this being an issue with the microphone's gain, either way, I'll make sure it isn't still an issue!
I think that when a Mii is hanging out with another Mii, when you go into the apartment to feed the Mii or something, that the other Mii should be there just walking around n stuff.... : -)
Hard agree!
SO COOL! Well done man, can tell you put a lot of work into this :))

especially the theatre and wow man I just love the island don't know what else to say
That's fine, it is a cool island

@@ElijahHarfst I'm glad you liked it ^v^

Don't celebrate too hard now!
Such cool ideas. Really do hope a new tomodachi life game happens. I’ve been replaying this game for the past 3 months lol
Please Nintendo I'm literally crying and suffering rn I need my Tomodachi Companions
This is by far the best Design ive seen for tomodachi life on switch
Hey, thanks! That was kinda the goal!
Hold on a sec. Was that miitomo?
How did you get that to function? Specifically the camera mode!
I used kaerutomo, a fan server that restores *some* stuff. It works but has many issues.
I have a really cool, albeit pretty ambitious idea for the music hall:
What if, when you max out a mii's music skill, you can just full on make your own songs.
There IS the possibility of someone at Nintendo having a tech demo of that that could be implemented into the game tho, We'd have to count ourselves extremely lucky in that case tho.
the concept of this new game has me wishing nintendo would just make smth like this already lol
one thing i would say though is that the camera movement at some points felt a little nauseating at times, especially when movement was rapid or fast paced. just smth to keep in mind for future videos/concepts! otherwise wonderful video!
I learned to use the camera tools as I made this video X3
I have it in mind for future 3D animations.
@@SmashedTomatoes hell yeah!! that's good. looking forward to seeing what you make in the future!
Amazing video! It really shows that there was a lot of effort put in!
Thanks, glad ya enjoyed it!
The biggest problem with a ambitious Tomodachi life game is it simply would not function with a low level of miis.
Great vid btw!
I mean, it would. You are not unlocking everything at the start. If a feature doesn't work without enough Miis and isn't a core feature, then it's a matter of locking it until the player gets there!
1:13 i disagree i LOVE the miitomo mouths
You're scary, okay.
@@SmashedTomatoes but they're so goofy man
I like a lot of your ideas like walking and fleshed out personalities, as well as your new island mock up!
Tomodachi life is my favorite 3DS game and I'm still waiting for a switch version
I bet it's gonna happen.
Even if it's because I flew to Japan to beat up an exec.
I really hope Nintendo will hire you because you have so many ideas and I think with your help they could really make a nice Tomodachi Life sequel!
