Thank God Warner Bros still release physical media in Australia. And very reasonably priced for legacy titles. Can't wait for this one!
Nice jab at Disney.
You reckon $45 is reasonably priced?
Ah, I hadn't seen the price for this one. Shame it's not in line with other recent releases.
But of course you are getting two cuts, each on its own disc.
was very surprised when I saw the 4K of this on jb hi fi. Glad we are getting this one, as we usually don't get these 4K classics. Also we only get Halloween H20 in 4K but no other from the franchise, would love an Australian 4K set.
I remember standing in line for hours in the winter of 73 in Georgetown to get tickets for the premiere ( I was 20) . I’ve had the Exorcist in all formats ( Beta, VHS, DVD and Blu Ray) I preordered the 4K. I can’t wait to see this in my Home Theater,JVC 4K projector, with a Stewart 123” FireHawk film screen and 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos system! The Exorcist and Jaws are my favorite movies of all time! Thanks Jeff for the review!
Rick, same - Beta, VHS [1998], DVD [2001] and Blu Ray [2013].
Although we never owned the Beta version, the parents hired it out enough times from the video library in 1982, that I suspect we had shares in it...
I definitely prefer the original theatrical cut. In horror less is more they got it right the first time and the added fx didn't age well. I also agree with the other comments don't care for the cover. The theatrical poster is so iconic the way they lit the building and silhouetted Max Von Sydow there's no need to change that.
Agreed. The spider walk scene happens too soon. I prefer the slower build of the theatrical cut. Still, I'm glad the other version exists.
I'm not a fan of the spiderwalk but I do like the added medical scenes
Films at home is phony. The exorcist 4k is a b - He didn’t watch it. During the exorcism the transfer was awful. He another you tuber Gets free movies and says he watch it. Go too movie guy 365. He watches his movies
Yep the original theatrical cut is the best version
Exorcist 3 is also very underrated. Both amazing back to back
I have it on DVD and will likely pick it up on 4k soon.
Agreed. Exorcist 3 was way better than it had any right to be!
Eh, it's widely considered a top tier horror film and the second best Exorcist movie.
Best jump scare of all time in Exorcist 3.
Totally agree
Americans were really shortchanged vs the 4k release we got in the UK. That US cover is horrible whilst we got the iconic Merrin outside the house with the light from Regan's window shining down on him image here in the UK which looks much better. We also got the BluRay along with the 4k with all the previous extras instead of just the 4k with a Digital Code on the US release.
I must admit I laughed out loud at the US cover... what were they thinking? Haha. I would import the UK copy if I were based in the US for sure.
When in doubt get the steelbook!
Yeah, they have been cutting out a lot of stuff in the US 4K releases. And I have a theory that they include the Legacy BluRay in the UK 4K set to save on shipping two different crates over seas. Aka Save time, Money, Packaging, and Shipping fees.
I'm an American and I am tired of a lot of stuff here in the U.S,politics, prices of everything, way overpriced housing,I could keep going.i want to go back to the home country
You got that right. Like why?!. Does it have to do with any kind of art work rights? Our best buy steelbook isn't too bad. But the slipcover? Shit, who's in charge of this crap...I did get both though lol.
I'm an older quy and I saw it in a theater when it first came out. It's still the scariest movie I've ever seen.
New 4k version - over saturated colour first 15 mins (orange sheep in Iraq ?), Chris's walk through Georgetown and the Subway alter boy sequence. After that the colour stabilises. Sound is great and if you can get past the colour issues, the 4k restoration has a sliver more sharpness.
Transfer sucks. Agreed oversaturated colors. He has to praise it. He got a copy from WB.
When The movie came out I was 12 and my cousin was 11. We both decided that we wanted to see the film but knew that it was R Rated. On the way to the theater a woman approached us and asked if we knew where the theater that was showing the Exorcist was. I told her that we were on our way there and we could walk together.
As we alll walked, I told the lady that we wanted to see the movie but would not be let in without and adult. Of course, she said that she didn't want to do that and get into any trouble but I told her that, once we got in, we would sit away from her and she would not be responsible. I must have given her a sad look because, incredibly, she agreed.
At the theater, the box office lady gave our fake aunt a stern look and asked her if she really wanted the kids to see that movie. The poor woman was flustered but she said yes. Then the ticket seller told her that the theater would not be responsible for us.
We got in, we saw the movie and, no one will be surprised to hear that my cousin and I couldn't sleep well for a week or two. Ahh, the 70s were great!
excellent anecdote! Fake Aunty rocks!
For $20 two 4K discs is a good deal! I can look past the artwork and extras for the strong technical merits
Slightly disappointed that you weren’t critical of the issues with this transfer that so many reviewers noticed. It makes me wonder if you’re turning a blind eye to its faults (to be fair, it’s pretty much just the exorcism portion of the film). Do you ever do re-reviews, in which you tackle issues you may have either not noticed or ignored with initial watches? It might be a good idea!
He does that a lot in reviews and he gets facts wrong all the time. I imagine he only spot checks certain scenes and then makes a review.
Ya im unsubing
@@hardnine, I’m not going that far, but I get it. I feel he’s still right about, say, 70% of the time, so I’ll just continue to compare his word with other physical media reviewers.
I think I would stick with the Blu Ray release.
Must say the USA release front cover is an absolute shocker. Lucky the UK edition has the Theatrical poster art, great news had my copy delivered so really looking forward to seeing it again on 4k bluray, great review.
I agree. it looks dirty lol
I prefer the US version over any version with the ratings on the front cover. Those are terribly ugly, no matter what the artwork is.
Some of the color grading in certain scenes is drastically different from the 35mm print. That isn't WB's fault, Friedkin made the changes. Still the best the film as ever looked, overall a really good transfer.
Is the Father Kerras jump cut in tact or does it have the digital morph?
Jump Cut also the Extended Director's cut has the stone demon head that was missing on the Blu-ray
I hope I don't sound like an "old fogy," but I'm really hoping that there's an audio option containing the *original* mono mix. I think it's important to *preserve* movies, and not just enhance them for a contemporary audience. I'm still unhappy about Friedkin's adding a dash of CGI to "soften" the transformation, near the end of the movie, between the faces of unpossessed and possessed Fr. Karras. And don't get me started on the so-called "director's cut" (more like a writer's cut, since it was clear that Freidkin created this version to mollify Blatty). Enhanced versions are fine... especially if they can bring in new audiences, but they shouldn't supplant the originals.
"...but they shouldn't supplant the originals" - yes we are looking at you, George Lucas!
Original will have the mono option, quite rare to see in studio releases. I got the OG 97 dvd for the original logo and rough print, its cool
Talking about the cover, I agree with you. It would be nice to have the original poster artwork, if they would have put Linda Blair on the poster in 1973 with her make up like that it wouldn’t have sold too many tickets because you want people to pay to see the demon. People would have thought, “ that’s what she looks like, I don’t need to see it now.” The same goes for the original Halloween movie, on the poster they had the pumpkin with the knife and not Michael myers mask because it’s pretty much a mystery.
One of the all time scariest movies ever made! This and Halloween 2 scared the daylights out of me as a kid! I love the way movies of this time period look in 4K. I have a feeling the new Dolby audio mixes are for the theatre re release of this coming up. They were already doing it for the theatre release, so went ahead and included it for the physical media…
Halloween II. Halloween 2 is Zombie's eye rape.
@@CaptainSpalding72 obviously when I say scare me as a kid and I am including the original Exorcist, the time period I am talking about is decades before Zombie ever touched Halloween. So clearly I am talking about the original Halloween 2. 🤦♂️
Great to hear Warner Bros. treated this movie and ENTER THE DRAGON with respect and gave it a top notch transfer. Hope they are doing the same for DIRTY HARRY series.
It didn’t. Don’t listen too films. At home. He doesn’t know what he is taking about. The exorcist 4k transfer has issues. He probably didn’t even watch it.
@@davidpreziosi14 I seen other online reviews, and you have a point. Unless he wants to continue to get free 4ks' and left some details out.
No offense, but you’re incorrect about them doing their best in the transfer quality. If that was true they would’ve erased all the obvious dust particles that pop in some frames such as a particle on the investigators face as the end of the directors cut version. I believe they rushed the transfer of this movie to meet deadlines for the month of October.
I agree with u. Jeff doesn’t know what he is taking about. If the studio sends him
A free movie he loves it 😂. He probably didn’t watch it. He wrong about most of his reviews
The slipcase artwork sucks on the standard 4K release thanks for pointing that out. Warner should have kept with that iconic and classic original movie poster artwork as the UK release. The Best Buy exclusive Steelbook artwork is preferable.
Great review! Came across your channel today in recommended and I love what you do. I agree with you on the artwork. It's like when you see horror movies repackaged in a more affordable reissue and they go for the illustrated screengrabs, which feels kinda cheap to me. I want this new 4K upgrade for sure!
Thanks Phil! Welcome to the channel!
@@JeffRauseo thank you! Let me know if you fancy reviewing anything together or being our guest on Boys On Film. We cover a lot of horror titles.
I remember the people lined around the block when it was released. Watching it in the theater that day changed the horror movies forever.
I don't know why companies can't keep the original poster art from the releases?
That for some reason seems to always be reserved for the DVD and idk why
This is why you get the BB steelbook with the better colors and artwork
Jeff, When This movie came out it was winter of 1973. I was in Chicago. Almost all theatres were sold out continually. I remember driving in the snow to go to a suburban theatre that still had tickets....I had to watch it alone, because there weren't 4 seats(friends) available. It was in glorious MONO. It wasn't an issue. Then in 1980 they released the movie in "Dolby Surround." I went and saw it again, and it was spookier in Surround. Especially Act III when the Demon Screams "Merrin" OMG. When TVYNS(directors') Cut came out I went to a premium theatre in Santa Rosa, Ca in 2000. It was still extreme. I was ambivalent about this release(I have the BD Digi-Book), but since your review I am going to get it. That detail is incredible. Thanks for the review.....
The Exorcist in 4K & Atmos Holy Sh**!!
The Atmos may require your home to need an exorcism.
I was 13 in 1973. My mother said you better not see this movie so I took the train to Manhattan and waited on line. When the red lettering opening with amazing sound system started I was like oh sh** it’s too late now.
Great review, Jeff! So glad you you highlighted the quality of the 4K presentation as well as the lack of special features and that horrendous artwork. Really wonder who approved that.
"It looks like a 35mm print" thats exactly what i wanted to hear, great review jeff!
It looks sub-HD during the blue exorcism sequence. They did some god awful DNR, there’s chunky compression, literally no grain, and the colors bleed-all of these were choices they made.
Jeff doesn’t know what he is taking about. The transfer has issues. He probably doesn’t watch half of his movies.
Great Review ❤
The Remaster, added resolution and HDR is nice but the audio now in ATMOS sounds great man 👍
The lack of special features is extremely annoying considering how difficult american exorcist brs are to get
I think they're going to start releasing barebones 4K, Then upsell a Steelbook ultimate edition with all the features for triple the price. No reason all this couldn't have been with the regular 4K
@@k2000kidd1 that would be pretty lame
Great review Jeff. Can´t wait to start on October the Halloween movies marathon. Every day 1 horror film. Defenitely this one is a must. Greetings from Spain =)
Are any of the US 4k releases gonna come with standard Blau rays also? Or are all of them including steel book gonna be 4k film only?
Really great analysis here! Just discovered your videos- well done!
I just recently rewatched The Exorcist. One of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. Thanks for reviewing the 4K and giving your thoughts on the film.
The UK version has the original poster art. I believe it also has a couple of documentaries on one of the discs.
My parents actually went opening night and my Mom walked when the single frame of Pizuzu flashed up on screen. She didnt even want my VhS copy in the house.
Hi Jeff, been looking forward to this review, I pre-ordered my copy, get it tomorrow here in the UK, keep up the great work.
Amazon was delivering it today, for some reason there's a delay, cancelled it and as luck would have it ASDA here in the UK is selling it for £20 so I picked it up 👍
I saw the original in the theater when I was a kid and it terrified me my wife still can’t watch it
Lol damn a kid seeing this in theatres? I can’t imagine that WOW. My mother was a late teen and saw it in theatre and was scarred for life lol. She couldn’t sleep alone for a long time afterward, so I can’t even imagine a kid seeing this in theaters
Can you review the 4K Rosemary's Baby? It's my all time favorite movie and am curious if should upgrade from my criterion Blu-ray
The UK version has the classic image and extra special features...
Bought the UK version today it's 4 disks the 2 blu raydisk seem to have the extras plus the artwork seems to be original... very impressed
William Friedkins "To Live and Die in L.A." (1985) just got a 4k upgrade a couple months ago which I absolutely recommend
I’ve heard from another RUclipsr who reviewed it that the infamous exorcism scene on the director’s cut looks to be of borderline quality. The grain looked to be completely scrubbed away. The red bible that Father Merrin held looked to be radioactive and there was some color bleed on his hand and that there was black crush intact. Have you found that to be the case here when watching?
No I didn’t think it was bad. Everyone sees things differently though. I just call it as I see it and try not to get caught up in the weeds
That guy is correct. This guy never knows what he's talking about. He just says everything's great so he can get free stuff.
@FilmsAtHome thats not what you said in this review..this disc has terrible inconsistencies..the quality changes from one minute to the next
I bought it. The Exorcism scene is shockingly poor. Genuinely DVD level quality at times.
No one with a pair of eyes would not notice the drastic change in quality.
This guy cannot be relied on as a trustworthy reviewer.
I went with the UK version to get the classic covers - tho muddled by the ratings codes and WB 100 banner
I have to agree with you on the artwork. At first i was surprised at the youtube preview card, but then you mentioned it was sent to you by the studio, which made sense as to why you had that copy. I think there is a 4k version with Reagan in blue with a creepy smile, that cover has the best artwork. And you are right, even the original movie poster woulda been better
The steelbook has that image. It’s awesome.
You’re wrong. That’s the steelbook.
Yep other poster posted that about a month ago. But also, not sure where im wrong...the steelbook is a 4k version...
Apparently in UK, theres a slip cover version with original poster art.
@@Chris-hr2uj You assumed his version was a pre-release studio version or something.
Ahhh ok. I see the confusion. Geoff indicated he got a prerelease from the studio for review. I was simply saying "i see why you featured this version, as opposed to buying the better steelbook version, and the reason why you featured this is because it was a version given to you by the studio".
This is 100 percent not the best they could do,, it's a known fact that the bluray transfer that the director did changing the whole colour grade of the final act the whole exorcism scene to a ridiculous blue colour grade, it's been spoke about all over the Internet for years that he should have never butchered the colour grade in the bluray release and everyone was praying that they would go back to the original colour grade if they ever release a 4k, they didn't and it's all everyone and anyone is talking about on the sites where they know about this stuff,, they used the same revision he used for the bluray,, the 1997 dvd is still the only way to get the original colour grade that's 100 times better,, so while this is the best it's ever looked many people are let down and we are more stuck with that awful blue colour grade yet again,, many fan edits have fixed this but still they shouldn't have to,, there is absolutely a place they could go from here with the next release and that is back to its original look, 97 dvd still the best home release matching the original look
I was gonna buy this no matter what cause I don’t own any version of The Exorcist but I’m so happy it’s a top tier transfer, I was already excited for this but now I can’t wait to go get it and watch it. Thanks for the great and informative video.
Yeah, they have been cutting out a lot of stuff in the US 4K releases. And I have a theory that they include the Legacy BluRay in the UK 4K set to save on shipping two different crates over seas. Aka Save time, Money, Packaging, and Shipping fees.
I wish the 4k version had the original movie poster with it. I love hearing rambling man by the allman brothers in surround sound. William friedkin is one of my favorite director's and he will be missed.
The uk version does. You could import if you really want to.
Wayne - rambling man by the allman brothers; bitchin' song bro.
Jeff, great review, I got the steel book from BestBuy yesterday afternoon.
Looks great but as you said barely any extras
It needed a 3rd disc
With shipping, it came to $43, a bit pricy to me but it's a classic
Hi, greetings from the UK, I have mine on pre-order, really excited for this release 👍👍
If you want the original poster work, I'm pretty sure fnac is selling the 4k Steelbook with that art. I've had pretty good experience with them and they ship internationally.
The 4k steelbook from bb has a better cover on it
When you redeem the digital code, does it redeem both movies and the special features?
“The cover doesn’t scream exorcist to me” Regan is literally screaming during the exorcism! Good review, the film is the most important and WB did a good job, like you said there is no where else to go after this 4k. Definitely a must own.
I love the steelbook cover and think it's awesome. Waiting for it to arrive now.
@@jerryrpettus1926 I don't because it shows what the possessed girl looks like. That should be hidden like it was when this movie was released back in 1973.
@@ricogomez4020It’s a classic film, spoilers are not something someone worries about for an old film that is well known.
@@BALAAABOYYYY222 SO you would be fine with having the statue of liberty on the cover of PLANET OF THE APES 1968 like they did on dvd?
It's called "The Exorcist" not "Exorcised".
In the uk..we got 5 discs in the steelbook! £25 ..so 2 x 4k discs, 2 times bluray ( with all the extras and a bonus disc! So for our American cousins, you could import and it will still be way cheaper than the big boxset!
The bluray I own which is the digibook has a DTS-HD Master 6,1 audio on the extended cut. Which makes the film sound a bit better than the original version 🙂
The color timing is too blue and at the end looks waxy.
You get them using the download code of the film. In the USA. However because the UK doesn't have the downloads etc anywhere available . So they don't include a code in their releases over here, they include the extras on a separate disc.
Yeah, can confirm that extras are available on Movies Anywhere when using the digital code. While a disc would've been preferred, I'm grateful I have access to them.
Great review as alwaus buddy. I will be picking this classic up soon.
Not to sure of my sources😅 But I remember reading somewhere that the MPAA gave The Exorcist an R instead of an X because they believed that audiences should see the film as it was meant to be seen, just shows how great this film is. Excited to see this release in Australia, in particular that theatrical version which wasn't released on blu-ray here. Shame about that cover though.
Hey Jeff. First off, love that “Halloween” shirt. I got my copy today, and it’s definitely the best it’s ever looked and sounded. Jeff, where did you get your “Halloween” tee?
Excellent review. I do wish that Horror movies got more credit. Even us horror fans tend to apologize on behalf of the genre - whenever a horror movie becomes a critically acclaimed piece of art, we tend to thank other genres for that by calling them dramas, or suspense films. The Exorcist is a straight up shocking intense gross HORROR movie lol, and horror existed at the start of cinema and it’ll never go out of style.
I preordered this I should be getting it tomorrow from Best Buy. I agree that artwork does suck. The colors are too warm for that movie. That's why I got the steellbook, and I'm gonna hang on to my 40th anniversary Blu-ray of this anyway. I usually sell off my blu-ray, but the Exorcist is one of those movies where it couldn't hurt to have multiple copies.
Do you know if the absent specisl features are on the digital copy?
5:45 Scream Factory take note!! This is how it should be done!
Got this arriving tomorrow, looking forward to seeing it, it seems here in the UK we get the artwork of the priest shot outside the house,
the digusting cover is basically WB saying "most of you love this film so won't want standard cover like this and therefore we want your £70 for the nice looking one". In the UK our standard has the orignal poster art work and includes SF too!
I'm super excited for this. I ordered the collectors edition and I also have the 40th special edition that came out in 2013.
Me too! Me too!!! Super excited!!!
Great review as always. The cover artwork is ok.......they had to differentiate it from all the other versions out there.
Jeff, how Can you say that this release looks so great when everyone is talking about severe color push, white light halo-effects and exorcism finale scenes varying in widely from clear to VHS quality. I’ve seen you be very honest on reviews before so I’m surprised by this. Yours is the only positive review I’ve seen
I hate the cover too. Just the title on black paper would have been better.
Does anyone know if the collector’s edition blu ray with the special features is region free? Wanted to know before purchasing
The Exorcist is without a doubt The greatest Horror movie ever made. All horror films take from this film since this film came out. It’s about Faith, God and Evil. Where do you stand and what do you believe when the film ends and credits roll. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sad to hear there's no special features on the standard 4K release. I have the Best Buy Steelbook coming soon and the UK Bible edition coming in November (tho hopefully sooner) so either way this is getting a watch during Spooky Season.
A must to add to your library,my favorite part is the audio,10 out of 10 just adds to the horror Dolby Atoms is amazing!!
Can you drop the link to the special Ed?
Aren’t the special features included with the digital copy that comes with the disc?
Can’t wait for my “Bible Set” from the UK…thx for the update 👍🏼 Always well done
I ordered my 4K non-steelbook copy from the UK for the original film poster artwork slipcover.
I just picked this up today at Walmart for only $5.00 LOL. The scan said $30, but someone who worked there put a $5.00 bargain bin sticker on it. Thanks Walmart, Haha !!! Classic movie for sure !!! Best horror movie that others try to copy to this day, but fail. I still have the other DVD with the good special features, so I have both.
I agree about the cover. They should have stuck to the original with Max and the silhouette against the building.
Nice review Jeff !!!
Nice 1 Jeff. Agreed...the BEST Movie of ALL time! That packaging sucks... I should receive my UK copy today...the slipcover over here has the original poster artwork which I'm happy about. I'm more excited to receive my Deluxe Collector's Edition next month tho, the 'Bible' set looks amazing and is gonna look awesome on my shelf with my collection! I'm sooo pleased to hear this is a brand new 4K restoration. Wuill be watching it tonight with the cats and a bottle of wine :)
I am horrified with what they did with the film.
Hard to believe this was overseen by Friedkin himself [I heard it was, but I have s strong doubts].
The colors look unreal and the whole last third of the film is "waxy" and smeared with surreal purples and blues. This does not reflect the great film that Friedkin made.
Whoever did the color-timing of this transfer truly messed-up a great classic.
He ruined The French Connection too at one point, why are you surprised?? You can’t trust his color grading choices. He has a history of doing this.
This is great news! And with Atmos. Fantastic! Thanks 👍
The blu ray site review and forums are more critical of the video quality, though from experience I imagine maybe this really is the best it can ever look and we're just never going to get the original theatrical color timing people saw in the 70s? Some quotes from the review, which specify there have been revisionist color gradings since the blu ray era that carry over to this 4k. Though your younger than me so I don't blame you for not being familiar with the film's original 70s look in theaters.
"As such, purists weren't happy with The Exorcist's Blu-ray debut as it considerably changed the color timing of key sequences including the exorcism itself, which pushed its otherwise natural color palette towards one bathed in cool blue tones.
That bit of revisionism hasn't been erased but it has been at least lessened somewhat, now taking on more of a lightly purple hue that's still off-putting but at least reigned in slightly. Yet it's also the root cause nagging issues exacerbated by HDR, which gives new and appreciated vibrancy to large swaths of the film but also rob other scenes of their original texture and appearance. Damien's walk through the subway station, for example, is bathed in fluorescent light from the train and other sources, which not only stand out unnaturally but fall victim to visible blooming.
Then there's the exorcism itself, including Merrin's iconic walk to the house, which sporadically takes on a similarly filtered, chalky appearance that's likewise hurt by excessive noise, smearing, and even obvious signs of black crush and posterization."
That review quoted there is correct. I don’t know how anyone could watch this disc and not notice the horrendous drop in quality during the exorcism sequence (to say nothing of the color grade). Smeary, DNR’d, bleed-y, low resolution, obvious ugly compression artifacts. It’s great up until then.
Because Jeff never watch it. He lies. Plus he doesn’t know what he is talking about. The studio sends him a free movie. So he says he loves. He is a. Phony
Agreed not a definitive version of the movie. The studio did a half assed release imo.
Guys Jeff didn’t watch it. Guaranteed. He makes stuff up. Don’t understand why he has so
Many subscribers.
Got my steelbook from Best Buy delivered today a day early! Can’t wait to watch it. Going to wait a couple more weeks closer to the release of Believer.
I don't have 4K, but I'm definitely looking to get a Blu-ray of The Exorcist. If you have time, which Blu-ray would you recommend?
The U.S Digi-Book released in 2001 is awesome...tho if you want ALL the special features, definately go for the 2013 40th Anniversary release. The cover-art on that 1 is of the steps that Karras jumps down. It's a 3 disc set.
I’m so excited. I’m holding out for the big box release next months
I for one like the pkg, as in regards to the colors i also the the reg dvd version . I like the color scheme on some dark scenes with brights flashes of light ✨️. The purples and blue tones too
I pre-ordered this, which is rarely a good idea, so I'm glad to hear WB did I good job with this.
Is it true that the special features are only on the digital code?
One of my favorites and have the Ultimate Edition on preorder. Can't wait to slip into my deck and settle in for a treat especially with Atmos.
I wish this was playing in a theater near me for the 50th anniversary. Don’t feel like driving 40 miles.
Already got my ticket for October 4th here in the UK :)
Haha...UK rules, USA drools!
4K + Blu-ray + Extras + better cover art!!!
What’s the link for the massive multidisk version?
Looks like the UK standard 4k edition has all the special features included.
Strange that in the USA they have that cover. The standard version in the UK is the original artwork, both on the case and slipcase.
great review, i went for the sttelbook with five discs, thanks for the review
This movie is a masterpiece, so glad that it got the 4K blu ray treatment! Also, bonus features overall are lacking in modern blu rays, studios used to care about bonus features decades ago during the DVD and blu ray era! They used to have a bonus feature disc that had hours of content.
I've still not forgiven WB and New Line for the woeful lack of bonus content for their LOTR / Hobbit box set. 275 discs and you couldn't find ANY room for the appendices?
@@DanKeatis they should be able to fit more content on Blu Rays! New Line Cinema used to push bonus features on their DVDs as their selling point back in the early 2000s!
@@Markimark151 Yeah, those were the days. I miss when studios would spend good money making bonus features that delved deep into the production process like the LOTR trilogy or Alien quad. Today, we’re lucky to get a handful of EPK fluff.
@@DanKeatis studios are cheapening out on physical media. Especially Disney that once used to promote 2 disc DVDs of their movies, now make bare bones DVDs of Pixar movies that look like bargain bin movies at Target!
4k transfer has issue. Jeff doesn’t know what he is talking about
I’m definitely excited for this I’m going to pick it up day one, i’ll be upgrading from DVD to 4K. Normally I do not upgrade unless it’s something I really like, I’m the type of person that buys the best versions of movies when they come out. Usually I just keep my DVDs and Blu-ray‘s and 4K, but for this I’ll make an exception.
The color timing is apparently garbage. I'd stick with the DVD 😂
@@simonfilmfan4899 judging from the video clips that he showed it looks a lot better than the DVD
