Toddlers around 18 - 24 months old love to be around parents and imitate everything you do around the house. Simple chores we do every day can be something exciting and educational practical life activities your toddler will be happy to be involved in.
Things like cleaning up after meals, washing dishes in their functional kitchen, helping out making bed, tidying up their own room, cleaning bed linen with lint roller, collecting shoes, laundry, looking after plants, unloading the dishwasher and mopping the floor.
In fact, there are countless activities you can involve your child. Any houseworks that you do everyday in the house can be something your child will be thrilled to do because they have been observing you doing that for a long time and many times.

That is the cutest mop bucket I have ever seen
My daughter went to a Montessori school. One teacher story was about a toddler who would put her cup of water on the corner of the desk during lunch time. She would accidently knock the cup off the desk, get the mop and bucket and mop up the split water, put the mop and bucket back, refill the cup and put it back on the corner of the desk. She did this twice a day for a week, but then never did it again.
I was divorced. The Ex would drop the toddler daughter off with the comment “Oh, thank goodness, now I can get my housework done. I would save my chore until my daughter was present and then involve her. One time I gave her a bucket of water and a sponge, and she would move the dirt around on the wall outside while I was up on the ladder washing the windows. Forty years later, she still has clear fond memories of helping daddy wash the building.

Little people are so enthusiastic and willing to participate . Having the time and the attention for developmental stages of humans is the love answer to the challenge of the nervous system begining middle and end.

This is brilliant. I get my 3 year old gradaughter to put washing in machine and put dirty washing in basket and she puts cushions on the bed. I think this is brilliant well done to you
My daughter does this with her son, she has even put a play kitchen in their kitchen with snacks and breakfast cereal in one of the play kitchen cupbOrds. In the morning when they all go to breakfast if he wants cereal he gets it all himself and then his muk will get a tiny jug with milk in it and he puts it in the bowl himself. If its toast or oats mum or dad will make it ( obviously). She also does the meal thing with not putting any emphasis on what you need to eat first ...aka main dinner before dessert or cookie before sandwich that type of thing. I was skeptical at first thinking every kid is going for dessert/ sweet stuff first. And there are days where he does do that but he will always eat his meal or lunch afterwards. The mum does have a batchelor in child something that she completed with her paramedic stuff so...she knows 2hat shes doing... Being her parent i really have to stop myself from interferring cause im old school and do things differently lol. Shes written a book about feelings for kids as well, sorry i dont get to brag about how proud i am of her ever... Will stop now.

I am happy that more people let their children do things. Nowadays kids can't do most of the easy tuff and it's because they were never taught to do them!

9:51 I found that mop and bucket and bought it randomly for my first son not long before he turned two - he was so excited! He carried both around everywhere for weeks, even "cleaning" while he was sitting on the potty. Every time I got my mop and bucket out he ran and got his. He's a wild child, the rowdy kind, but he's always been glad to help out with the more physical aspects of housework (just don't ask him to sort the cutlery...)

Get another Dollar Tree Broom
and cut the broom for a whisk
broom.
Make a mop head out of an old shirt or towel and attach it to
the broom handle.
A beach bucket could be used as
a mop bucket.
Children also like washing walls.
Nursery Rhymes or Kids songs
while you work is also fun.

It's crazy how much of this we were already doing with our daughter! I don't actively try to be Montessori but it seems to come naturally to me. It was SO freaking cute to see another toddler doing these things. My daughter greatly enjoyed watching this with me too!
My 4yo son uses a swiffer mop which I like because the length is adjustable

My parents had me do house task longer than I remember. One my earliest memory is cleaning my room then the whole house.
this baby cleans up better / is neater than a lot of my co workers and adult shoppers at the store i work at (o/n) … also why does the clothesline outfit actually kinda slap, comfy hoodie + sunnies?

It's a bit scary, but learning about how to handle when a glass breaks is also a practical life activity! If a glass breaks, a glass breaks, and we learn what to do. ❤ Avoiding the situation doesn't help a child gain confidence for coping with it in the future. That's a big cornerstone of the Montessori philosophy!

And make sure your boys know how to do the laundry! My brother, the only boy out of 4 children got special treatment because he was male! I was exasperated because mom wouldn't let me take out the garbage , a short task . I had to wash or dry dishes! I wanted to take the garbage out and switch every week with my brother. No deal, accoedung to my mom in the 1960's! Because I was a girl! 🤔🤯When he went to college he put his red sweatshirt in the washer with his underwear snd used hot water! He got pink underwear! 🤔🤯😂🤣😂🤣😂I hope boys are tayght how to do the laundry these days! 🤔🇩🇪🇨🇭🇺🇲💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊

Something I really enjoy about your videos and why I subscribe is because you don’t show your babies face while at the same time showing all the things she’s capable of- very responsible and educative! ❤
My mother never showed displeasure at doing housework, so I never developed an aversion to it, unless I had something more fun to do. My favorite thing , even when I was tiny, was helping her cook by putting the ingredients in the bowl and mixing. As an adult babysitting my nieces, I let them water the garden in their bathing suits and spend hours at my sink “washing dishes”. They are now both great cooks and gardeners.
Every child grows at their own pace...and each has their own capabilities.....as long as the tasks don't become an overwhelming priority and they are having genuine fun, it is fine but there are other things in life that are as important as chores. Let there be a good balance and all should be fine.🙂

I am not even into kids, but this has got to be the cutest thing ever!!! This little girl loves helping out around the house. I wonder if a little boy would be as helpful. What a wonderful mother to make sure her daughter has an opportunity to help mom around the house. I love all of the kid size cleaning items. This was really a wonderful video to watch.
Why wouldn't a boy be as helpful? Obviously there'll be differences between individual children depending on their personality, development and more skills, but there's absolutely no reason why there would be any difference specifically between boys and girls - pretty sure boys at that age aren't less physically capable than girls.

For some reason kids love to vacuum, so why not getting a small real one. That could actually work pretty well, they not only have fun, they're also cleaning up at the same time 😃
YES! I am sure she could handle it and probably enjoy it very much! I thought about getting one from Target long time ago, for some reason I just dropped the idea. Now Alina is 3 years old I feel like she's ready for a real one lol

Can you increase the volume of your voice? With every setting to the max its still hard to hear what you are saying. Congratulations on your channel and on your family achievements. so the only way I can hear what you are saying is if I use earplugs and if you notice you have higher volume on the right side and very low on the left side, so its like you are speaking to my right ear all the time. Hi! Thanks for the lovely vibes in your videos! I have a question. Every time I try to sweep the floor with my 2y old daughter she wants to use my broom (she has a little broom but she wants to use what I have on my hand) and at the end she will cry. Did your daughter learnt quickly that she has to use her broom? Any tips?
Alina still does that! She kept wanting what I use then I just use her broom ( a spoon, aspatula or a brush literally whatever I use, she wants to try) then she always asks me to swap with hers again. Lol
Unless she wants to use my knife, as long as it's safe, I'd let her give it a go. Soon they learn that their child-sized equipment works better for themselves. They wont learn this unless they try!

Hi! I invite her to do these activities whenever i can and it's entirely up to her whether she participates or not, some days she rather play on her own so she refuses to do these activities at all, other times she is super keen and helps me most of it. So it's always different everyday

Hi I just let her use her hand soap from her automatic soap dispenser. because I didnt want to give her gel type soap as it generates too much bubble and leaves residual on her hands and dishes.
So do you have her kitchen set in your kitchen area?
It's in our livingroom area because we don't have any space for it in the kitchen.

How do you stop your daughter eating at all the food she has put into her Montessori kitchen? What if she is into an activity that you just aren’t? For example what if she loves football and you don’t? I know she’s only a year old but these passions develop through their personalities… like an interest in music or playing an instrument.
Also what if she prefers wearing boys clothes over girls clothes? Do you have boys clothes there for her to explore that? Or do you only provide female clothes only - what if she wants a football jersey or an All Blacks jersey?
Hope these questions make sense - I’m really interested in the Montessori method as I work for children in care.
Hi, okay I will try my best to answer all of your questions.
- There are some days when she just won't stop eating her crackers and I'd say the one you're holding is the last one, you had enough. And usually she stops, otherwise I just simply remove the crackers for the time being and we read a book that is about the main character eating too much snack and getting stomach-ache. Then she sort of gets it and she just moves on.
- She love love loves reading books and I'm like after reading 5-6 books, twice each at least, I feel like I'm done. I try my best to follow her interests but when I really dont feel like reading anymore then I'll just tell her how I feel. I'd say something like I feel like I read enough for you, why don't you read it on your own for a while, or would you like to do something else with me?
- She is a girly girl, loving pink, so I haven't experienced it yet, but I just simply won't give her option of boys outfit at the first place and if she insists on wearing something 'I think' inappropriate, I'd still let her wear what she picks out and she'll have to deal with whatever comments she'll get when she goes to daycare or playground.
