As an (artist) i feel such deep respect for Jon Batiste. He has fucking life and rhythm and personality and artistry. He's a bad ass, and he's stylish. And now he's host of the Late Show. I'm glad he has it, cuz this dude rocks.
Thanks Wynton for putting together an unbelievable group of some of the best of the very best muscians in the world. It doesn't get much better then this.
He is so amazing...I hung out at many concerts with the Batiste brothers in the seventies. So John is his father I presume. Musicians in New Orleans were so giving and not at all arrogant. We just all shared our love and respect for music. New Orleans is a special place to grow up. Music is in our soul. Talented young man.
What is always and continuously fascinating to me is the form and organization that underlies this music, and the way the musicians understand it. It’s truly a language unto itself. So fun and interesting.
Wynton, Wynton, oh my man Wynton how you pull together such fine music out of such fine musicians. The world is yours for these few minutes, just ask the folks hearing it.
Mark, I don't know if you read the comments on here, but I want you to know I have followed your career since your days with The Dregs. You are one of my favorite musicians and a wonderful human being as well. Thank you for such wonderful and classy musicianship.
Can you imagine that young Jon Batiste is playing with Wynton Marsalis? Jazz royalty right there! BTW, Carlos on the drums! Light as a feather! What an amazing band of musicians making it look like a walk in Louis Armstrong’s park in NOLA.
Doesn't get much more awesome than this for those of you who love the uniqueness that ad libbing provides in jazz. My Dad and I were jamming with these guys in his living room Christmas night. Awesome!
i love that jon has remained grateful. his talent speaks for itself, but his character makes people want to see him enjoy the success that he's attained. i know the greats that he's had the good fortune to have worked with in the past saw his talent years ago and probably expected this if he kept at it. they're probably smiling down now. 11 grammy nominations....no one deserves it more
Mark O'Connor is one of my favorite violinists of all time and my favorite fiddler. He looks out of his element at times here, mixed in with these New Orleans musical traditions, but I think it's great. It's wonderful to see a brilliant artist like Mark trying something new. All of these guys are brilliant and the best in their field. As a violinist, I'm always so excited when I watch clips of this concert showing violin as a jazz instrument, especially New Orleans jazz, my favorite. Great performance!
I love how Frank and Mark are just smitten by Jon's piano solo. Jon doesn't play music, he is music. Every single one of them on this stage is rivetting. I keep rewatching it.
OMG..is this real? Mark O'connor ,Jon Batiste, Wynton Marsalis and Frank Vignola ?? how can even this collaboration be possible?? Sooo jealous of those who're listening in live!
This is what jazz is all about: bringing fun and celebrating music. This used in the film "Live at Let Die". It's about time I learned to play this and introduced it to the band I am in.
This, this is absolutely wonderful. A stage pouring out joy, love and creativity in copius amounts, over a willing audience both there and here at home.
Just awesome! Thanks guys. Anyone who grew up in New Orleans (like me) knows this song. I suggested it as an easy jam at a musical house party & the 'band' loved jamming on it. Superb version here!
Oh Lord! I hope one day I can watch Jon Batiste and Wynton Marsalis togheter.
when jazz so hot even the trumpet sweating
Now this is just the best jazz jam session I’ve ever heard. Remarkable musicians. The French audience is one lucky audience.
You know this is a rockin' jam session when Wynton's horn is sweating and the cats give props to Batiste's solo
As an (artist) i feel such deep respect for Jon Batiste. He has fucking life and rhythm and personality and artistry. He's a bad ass, and he's stylish. And now he's host of the Late Show. I'm glad he has it, cuz this dude rocks.
i saw him in a small room in Orvietto, Italy in December 2013 I think and he blew my mind!! so talented
@David K. Understandably your enthusiasm runneth over, but Jon Batiste is not host of the Late Show. That would be Stephen Colbert.
We could have done without the "f-ing" Mr Kingsbury !!
@@dougward4581 Shut the fuck up Doug. You Puritan. Jazz was originally deemed "whore house" music. I'm sure it's been accompanied by a curse or two.
I've often thought that Colbert has a pretty sweet gig emcee-ing for Batiste.
I love Jon Batiste... That dude is so talented, warm, empathetic, energetic & kind. We need more of that humanity in the world.
I love the way all these guys watch each other and smile! a cream-of-the-crop mutual admiration society! Amazing stuff!

Hey, Heeeey❣️❣️. Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😍😍😍😍🤣😂🤣♥️‼️‼️‼️‼️❣️

Thanks Wynton for putting together an unbelievable group of some of the best of the very best muscians in the world. It doesn't get much better then this.
Now that is what you call a Jam Session. Everybody has a chance to shine!
Jon Batiste is SO gifted! Love him!
Some kind of a genius....
That audience got a night they'll never forget, ....just wow
A complete joy to listen too. Wynton is genius
Yes< Yes, Yes, Yessss!!!!
3:58 That moment when the whole band is looking like, "omg that dude just played the shit out of that piano."
Daniel Hanson
Absolutely, that dude's monstrous!
That dude on SNL
That dude was 22 years old when this was recorded. OMFG!
@@TasX that dude is Jon Batiste, and leads the band on Colbert every night
@@Enso. SNL = Saturday night live
I love this, I was feeling a little low........not any more!

Jon Batiste is a truly talented musician. He rocks those ivories so well.

Hes not at all out of his element, as is element is improvisation. However, he has been listening to Stuff Smith!
WOW!!! Talent is just flowing off that stage. Incredible. Beautiful.
Musical masterclass
awesome,if dad was alive I could just picture him grooving along to these great musos ,from Brisbane australia
My dad would have been playing the piano right next to John if he was alive. Thankful that our fathers taught us the love of GREAT music!!
wow! I've listened to Wynton before, but in this particular performance he came out serious. He wasn't fuckin' around here. That was incredible.
You said it bro!
I love how Frank and Mark are just smitten by Jon's piano solo. Jon doesn't play music, he is music.
