I enjoyed your complete talk with Jon and I appreciate that you pulled this section out. It is my favorite part so it is a special treat. Thank you. You made someone much older than either of you smile brightly today.
Jon Batiste is more knowledgeable and understands music, feelings, emotion, joy, technique and love better than any professor of music with all the PHD degrees. He should be given an honorary doctorate, because he is so brilliant. He not only understands more than 99% of the musically gifted but he conveys it to anyone so effortlessly and with so much joy and love ❤️
I thought it was an overstatement, until I listened to the guy. It's not just the music, it's the way he connects to it and brings us in the boat with him. GENIUS
This deserves more likes and views. This is what humans should be absorbing, period. If this doesn't make you feel the relevance of music to life, I don't know what will.
I am rarely as captivated listening to individuals as I am to him! Music truly is a language all to itself…and His ability to formulate it in a way all can understand and find connection with is unmatched. What a talent!! 🙏🏼
This was extremely encouraging. I am a bass player who loves classical music. This makes me abandon the shame I was feeling for for focusing on it rather than R&B music. This short video has been mentally liberating ❤❤❤.
Jon Batiste is a modern-day musical genius. As the host alluded, taking the hypotenuse to cathartic heights. I could listen to Jon Batiste talk and play music all day. It is disappointing that he is not more talked about and celebrated in mainstream music.
I have no musical talent or ear.. Yet everything Jon says makes so much sense to me! I just wish I could vibrate on that undescribable intellect that he has!
None of the incredible works from the late 19th century to the present day would be possible without gospel and blues. And even before that, from the plantation songs by the enslaved, question and answer. The sounds that dictated the rhythm of work in plantation songs distilled pain and hopelessness into blues, and redemption and joy into gospel. The USA owes a large part of its musical culture to thousands of people who were taken from their lands to work in subhuman conditions. This debt will not be repaid in a million years. The same thing happened here in Brazil. Anyway, peace to all!
I'm a preacher of the gospel and a student of the Bible. He studies music just like a serious preacher should study the word of God. Tremendous depth in his playing. He loves every part.
In dark times there are always bright lights. Jon Batiste shines so brightly. The unapologetic and consistent expression of love, joy, healing, and spontaneity iminates from every fiber of his being so effortlessly that he restores my faith in humanity. Souls like his encourage me to keep faith that we will overcome our darker nature and finally heal this beleaguered world.
7:28 & 11:27 You can see that it's purely about Understanding for him. Sharing knowledge is more than an exchange of science, it's a spiritual experience. He is quite possibly the purest adult soul I have EVER seen. 😀
I know not every conversation is in need of an accompanying video recording, but I’m glad this one has it. The pure joy and excitement in both of you is infectious. Thank you 🙏
I’ve never seen anyone so spiritually connected to music like Jon is. He taps in and is a vessel which connects us to spiritually though music. It’s such a beautiful thing to witness.
Thank you John! You are a gifted genius and I hope to be able to listen to much more of your creative respect for extending the idea of systems of music. ❤😊
As someone who grew up on mostly classical it’s a very interesting experience listening to blues. It’s somewhat difficult for me to understand sometimes and even to learn playing in an instrumental band but Seeing Jon’s passion for it really connects me to it in a different way.
This guy is truly special. Yesss he thinks before he speaks; his thought process is out of this world. May his talents stay with him as long as he lives
I among many deeply appreciate Mr. Bautista's education here. There are so many eastern points that I always wondered but he explains so sophisticated 🙏🏼 God bless him for bringing all this connection to our attention and understanding. Humanity evolving through musical analysis. He's connecting our current individual memories to those from historical context.... linking us all together in this artistic diaspora 😚✨👌
What Blues means to Jon... Is what Bluegrass is to me... I truly believe electronic bluegrass is the future of music.. And or could be. But most definitely should be explored. ⚡️🔵🌾🪕🎻🎚🎹🎛⚡️🔵🌾 🔥🔥🥀🥀🥀🌹🥀🥀🥀🔥🔥

His music, his speech, his writing... God even his laugh! .... screams soul, love and passion for what he does!
Unbelievable. As a musician I can't even begin to show the respect for this level of mastery. Going way beyond music to philosophy.
What a great way to say it! Thank you.
Ain't it, though. While knowing words could never say, like music.
Yes, well said. Unbelievable. As he came from Heaven❤
Jon’s articulation of the simplistic complexity of notes is masterful
Blues is an "allegory for the human condition in sound"
Perfectly said.
That truth.

Jon's Beethoven performances are the most exciting interpretations in 100 years.
He really thinks before he speaks. The explanations are refreshing.
Calling Jon Batiste a genius is both accurate and possibly an understatement 🎉
@Oceanlily So true

I thought it was an overstatement, until I listened to the guy. It's not just the music, it's the way he connects to it and brings us in the boat with him. GENIUS

That was such a amazing way of articulating how the language of music is timeless and without bounds of “genres” and “styles”
Jon ….”paints” when he speaks…

Couldn't have said it better.
Out of slavery, oppression and hardship …. A unique and beautiful sensibility.. pure poetry. This is so incredible.

Tim’s smile. Not sure I’ve seen him ever look quite like that for so long 🌸
Such a beauty of words. I love when an expansive idea has someone who knows how to deliver it.

What does that mean?
I am not a musician but I love all genre of music. I find Jon, his mannerisms, his laughter, his knowledge, the depth of it always makes me marvel!
... Exactly! Having a "conversation" with Beethoven.... it's how a musician with a deeper understanding will feel. 🌹🎼🎹
Love this PURE man! A heart and mind and soul of a very deep man…….. 👍🏼🕊️🙏🏼🎼🎵🎶🎹🎶🎵🎼
I have no musical talent or ear.. Yet everything Jon says makes so much sense to me! I just wish I could vibrate on that undescribable intellect that he has!

I hear Prince's Computer Blue in the last segment of him playing. This guy is absolutely amazing!!
Che bello! Quanti artisti su questo bel pianwta. Thanks for sharing❤❤❤
Holy crap. This is basically the only guy that needs to teach music, anywhere. He is to music what Hawking was to physics.
This guy is truly special. Yesss he thinks before he speaks; his thought process is out of this world.
May his talents stay with him as long as he lives

Musical Genius at its finest
I need the sheet music of that 20 minute version of Fur Elise. Where can I get it?
Isn't it an impromptu performance by Jon?

I truly believe electronic bluegrass is the future of music..
