My favorite musician right now. Not only in his abilities but his positivity and passion. Original music and composition are so rare today, it makes his music so refreshing
He's dreadful. I don't understand how industry keeps taking a turd like this guy and elevating him as if he were a deity. Unbelievable, this crap has been going on for generations. Brother can't play.
@@J3unGhe can obviously play you cactus lmao. I agree he’s not gods gift to the keys like some people think he is, but the man’s clearly got talent for it.
He has a website I got on for early ticket access when he came to Minneapolis, MN. I got tickets for $50 excited to see him, couldnt convonce any of my young friends to go with me... but got my mom and her friend instead. Then show sold out, then tickets were being resold for $200-300, I thought it was nuts hah. It was a very fun show, all the old whitepeople had a gard time getting to full dance mode, but still a very excited, happy mood :).
"Be yourself in life. Be yourself in life. Be who you are. You're beautiful. Be you. You got it! Do your thing. Live your life. Be who you are. Live it." That sounded so profound and liberating and encouraging. Thank you for that, Jon.
my fav moment is when Jon harmonizes with Lisa's singing at 17:38 with a wistful chord. this must have been a beast of a video to edit since Jon is constantly playing in every moment between talking! haha
My husband has worked with his father. The music is all through the family. Their house in New Orleans is always singing. Jon and Troy were always jamming. My husband wishes he spent more time just enjoying the beginnings of legends.
This video is so beautiful. Lisa Witt does a phenomenal job of really engaging with Jon Batiste here-- it feels like a joyous, reverent conversation through music. Absolutely fantastic!
John Batiste, your words inspire and apply to the passion of each individual who still feels the pressure inside to express their gift! For that I am inspired to take the next small step forward at 83! In my soul is a pressure to share! Thank you!❤
Wow, what a talent! It is impossible to hear him speak, whether with his mouth or fingers, and not smile, and almost as hard to not have a tear in the eye at least once in this video...
Fascinating. Having grown up on Beethoven, including hearing his works in Berlin and Vienna I’m a bundle of mixed responses. A part has a knee jerk response of how dare anyone mess with the sacred canon and the other part says, well OF COURSE Jon Baptiste was moved to create this utterly perfect and astonishing play on the master’s great works, honoring the creative genius of the master. Can’t you just imagine the conversations the two of them have had for quite some time? For, as Batiste has said often, music is conversation.
musical genius. I feel joy and love without watching. But when I see his face, I wonder how many things are going in his brain and his happy face and his energy...omg Thank you Jon for your creativity!
Jon Batiste teaches one to feel the music and let it get inside you so that you extend it as far as possible. Let your music do your talking and define you. Thank you, Jon Batiste, for making the magic happen. You make me want to practice more and more.
I truly am in awe and inspired every time I hear him play 💖 hearing how he hears underneath the note before the sound is produced is like hearing what lies underneath a word before it's structured and turned into sound. Thank you for allowing us a peak into your world. We all have been blessed by what you do. 🎶🎼🎵🎹💖
That's wrong, as all the composers of their days were of wealthy families and often performed for other high position members of society. Not in a garage...
A long time ago now, I was the driver of a charter bus to the Cincinnati Orchestra. The director came out and apologized that the featured violinist got sick and they flew in a substitute. Well, she didn’t have a chance to rehearse but she was playing a Stradivarius violin. Whelp… an amazing concert! If I get tickets to a show (and I hold season tickets), and Jon is the, “substitute,” count me in!
Jon is truly a genius. He is so amazing so gentle and kind. Really enjoyed this interview. This is what we all need ❤ We need beautiful music and beautiful souls 💖💖
my fav moment is at 17:38 when Jon harmonizes Lisa's melody with a wistful chord. this must have been a beast to edit as Jon is constantly playing :) :)
I must admit.... I've heard the name..... and now I know why.... When you feel the energy from the beyond.... "bestowed upon you from the Divine....", you begin to find yourself..... now if you'll excuse me... I'm going to listen to some other celestial yearnings coming from this beautiful soul.... You are definitely blessed, Jon Batiste. Happy journeys everyone. 😊🌹❤🙏😇☺😘🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Her emotions manifesting at 17:36 are lovely to see, really resonates. How Jon connects and harmonizes (in a different key!) with that in the moment is really human magic.
It's even greater with the explanations, with the insight into Jon Batiste's beautiful mind and soul ❤. Every time I'll relisten to the album, I'll have these moments in my heart ❤
Jon Batiste and Derek Trucks both make me smile and cry nearly every time I hear them play. I would love to see them play together. They both feel like they’re speaking/communicating through their instruments instead of just playing the “right” notes at the right time. Much love to you guys for sharing this conversation
I know Jon Batiste is hardly the first person to fuze/blend classical with blues/jazz/etc, but how he hears the parrell between styles of music is freaking great. Interesting and freeing perspective. What was the "musical intent?" That's a golden question!
Pure genius! Beethoven is my classical love. I love playing his pieces and when I heard Jon’s take on it on your insta profile I was completely blown away!! Been listening to Jon’s music since and it’s refreshing, inspiring and just Joyful ❤ Thank you sharing this with us!

Facts! People will be in conversation with his works long into the future!
If he doesn't bring out the best inspiration in you, you're not listening. Pianote has just crushed this series with Jon!
This man has healing power. He makes water fall from my eyes.
How can you not love this man. Pure of heart, amazing musician, I really hope to see him live some day!

That sounded so profound and liberating and encouraging. Thank you for that, Jon.
One of the coolest most creative most inspiring videos on the internet right now
he's a creative genius; so talented. You can see him imagining in his mind.
A gospel version of Ode to Joy... fantastic. What an incredible and innovative musician he is! Jon Batiste is a gift to the world.
my fav moment is when Jon harmonizes with Lisa's singing at 17:38 with a wistful chord. this must have been a beast of a video to edit since Jon is constantly playing in every moment between talking! haha
Thank you- I was on a cloud in that moment for sure. It was such a wonderful experience

Me too!! I so wanna know what chords he was playing
My husband has worked with his father. The music is all through the family. Their house in New Orleans is always singing. Jon and Troy were always jamming. My husband wishes he spent more time just enjoying the beginnings of legends.
Nah the reverie part almost made me cry.. what a beautiful thing he did with this piece 🥹
Reverie part, is that the section after the gospel bit? That section makes me want to rise to my feet every time.
This video is so beautiful. Lisa Witt does a phenomenal job of really engaging with Jon Batiste here-- it feels like a joyous, reverent conversation through music. Absolutely fantastic!
Listening to him speak, it must be how someone who can't read feels in the presence of someone who can read.

He is such a beautiful soul and watching him channel it through his fingers is a rare treasure indeed. ❤

There are musicians who make you want to stop listening and go practice, but you can't stop listening.
Job pulses out and on live… then it oozes from his smile and fingers.
I adore this man.
❤
Jon Batiste is a genius !!
I am so happy to have this album. I love it and it's so inspiring. Jon Batiste is one of the Greats.
wowza
A masterclass in artistic expression, not just piano!
The Piano Guys said that classical music WAS rock and roll of their day… Jon shows exactly how true that is. These kinds of videos are so fun to see.
That's wrong, as all the composers of their days were of wealthy families and often performed for other high position members of society. Not in a garage...
So happy a second Pianote vid with Jon Batiste was made were he got to have a longer talk with Lisa! This was beautiful :).
This is Jon’s 4th video on our channel!
@PianoteOfficial Oh! Thanks hah, time to look up the others!

Jon…so who he is! No repeats!!! Never tire of witnessing him. ❤ loved the adventure at the end!❤❤❤
I admire this guy so much. He’s magical
Esse video fala de musica em sua essência, emocionante!
7:04 "You honour it and then you extend it."
7:32 "That’s the beauty of music, there's always more."
What an incredible musician. Thank you, Pianote, for bringing this wonderful artists.

I just have to chuckle every time I see Jon with that big smile and always having fun. Love it.
my fav moment is at 17:38 when Jon harmonizes Lisa's melody with a wistful chord. this must have been a beast to edit as Jon is constantly playing :) :)
when Lisa's trying not to cry from the harmonic and tonal beauty.
It's how he said the "there's always more..." for me 😄
Wawooo!!!
Jon is amazing, His fingers speaks directly to our hearts❤

Thanks for having Jon once again. He's inspiring

Thanks for sharing the love. Still believe that music is the salvation of the world. Peace.
The delicacy with which his hands caress the keys to create any sound is beauty and grace and spirituality personified.
19:59 feels like Christmas 🎄.
Thank you for this... This was the best ear training masterclass for me. Thank you.
It's even greater with the explanations, with the insight into Jon Batiste's beautiful mind and soul ❤. Every time I'll relisten to the album, I'll have these moments in my heart ❤
Love this man's music and his philosophy. Goosebumps on his improvisation at the end.

Thank you Lisa and Jon ! That was just breathtaking ! ❤
😍Love this!
That. Was. Beautiful!!❤️💙
I would love to be a fly on the wall if Jon and Beethoven were able to meet
It’s crazy how some people can actually be this good in real life. Jeez Louise this guy can play 🤯
Absolutely masterful! There are people (Yuja Wang) who can really play classics, and there are people who can redefine and invent new classics
Such an amazing genius!❤️
Thank you, Jon.
I know Jon Batiste is hardly the first person to fuze/blend classical with blues/jazz/etc, but how he hears the parrell between styles of music is freaking great. Interesting and freeing perspective. What was the "musical intent?" That's a golden question!

5:32 just might be the best version of the song.
i love him, so inspiring...I recommend his movie American Symphony.
Holy crap 5th on Congo Square Brilliant!
17:30 Chills.
13:19
I didn't know you could do that in a piano, that's cool
Beethoven in the Congo Square is amazing.
The James Booker reference!! Love that guy. 🎹 🎶
Chord voicing.... What a beautiful demonstration. Thanks, John
This guy is so on point flre 😮😮
I love this channel although my instrument is the Guitar. I get so inspired by pianists. And this guy has become my favorite lately.
The man(vessel) is brilliant.
Always more.
I like that
20:25 wow is right
19:15 Right after the gospel bit (which I wish always a lil longer 😍) this next section makes me want to stand up every time.
