Coming from a family of train and cat lovers, Chessie was always our favorite logo to catch whenever we were watching freight trains, so I'm extra happy whenever that Chessie car pops up in a grab bag (just wish it was in better shape)! Excellent clips as per usual; thank you for doing this just about every day!

I have just recently found your channel. You work hard to edit this down and get it out to the public. Thank you for that. I used to get Pacific Rail News magazine back in the 80s but that publication ended with all the mass mergers. This is much better, thanks.
Part of the fun for me when watching these videos is trying to figure out where these cameras are located. Belen was kinda tough but I think it's on the Harvey House Museum!
Chessie may be gone but not out of sight. quite the weather systems. now the CAT caught me again as was expecting a cat as at the vending machine..lol.
A question for you train fans. I don't know much about trains, just that I like watching them on YT. Q. When a train has two or three locomotives at the front, is there a driver in each one, or are they controlled from the front locomotive?
Each engine has electrical connections running between them, so only one engine needs to be operated to control all of them (multiple unit operating) Sometimes engines may be towed ‘dead’ or not under power which in that case you’d only need brake connections only (they’d be treated just like any other freight car). However, having a driver in each one was main practice in steam days and with some older generations of diesel locomotives (wherein some manufacturers had systems which could not function with each other).
It was seen in Fostoria (near Deshler) at 9:15 EST and in Roanoke at 12:30 EST the next day. So it took 27 hrs and 15 min. for about 450 miles (hard to tell because Google Maps doesn't do railways in the US). That's an impressive average speed of around 16.5 mph.
During the run up to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm,Army transportation officers learned that the vehicles couldn't be fueled if they were going by rail but if they were being transported on barges to the embarkation port, they could buy fuel from local sources, load the vehicles in a fully fueled condition & save time & operation budget money for the deployment.
Railheaded in Germany and US both around that era. Don't ever remember anybody showing concern about fuel. It better have enough to get to the loading dock and unload at destination and get to the maneuver area. Of course I was with armor. Maybe wheeled units were treated differently?
Still say CP should adopt the heritage livery system wide. Raining cats and dogs or as my grandpa would said like a cow peeing on a flat rock and thundersnow? Well Jim Cantore just became a railfan.
No way , the " BIG REDS " are the banners of CP itself and they're beautiful ( just wish the corporate penny pinchers would open their wallets and keep them clean & shining )
Nice grab bag VRF. I liked Norfolk Southern Heritage Units.also the CSX Law Enforcement Unit. Oh BTW I saw the CSX Q367 (the one with the brand new welded rail train with Manifest train) at Dunkirk,NY.but either way I enjoyed the video.👍
Kind of odd. That military train at Tower 55 came in from the north and went down into the yard, I presume to re-crew and maybe be inspected. Then it backed out around the wye and went east. They show the train going east first, then the shove move that happened before it, with a clip between.
Why are your freight trains in the US soo long 🤣🤣 in Britain ours are half the size of your freight in the US, do love watching this channel now 😁😁 loving videos every time
Does anyone know why BNSF runs so many M.U.s on their consists? It can't be just that they have them to use. UP and SP run a ton but they have to go over the divide which always needs power!

Lovely day in Chehalis. Just hanging out back here taking in the scenery and fresh air. Oh, hey there VR fans.😃😁

Well Spotted👍
When you can ride in style, then do it! 🙂🙂🙂
I guess thats one way to have a lookout and still get rid of the caboose. 😆
Great EMD start with the SKOL, CP and UP plus the usual excellent catches, thanks VR
Cool snow effects, courtesy of Mother Nature and good cameras. Thanks!
Outstanding!
Another excellent Grab Bag and thanks for everything you do VRF :).
Awesome grab bag
Love the waves from the crews,
So much military movements
Part of the fun for me when watching these videos is trying to figure out where these cameras are located. Belen was kinda tough but I think it's on the Harvey House Museum!
Love the Chessie High Cube as well as the clean looking CSX ES44DC's (5000 series).
GREAT EDITING again
Some nasty weather.....
Thank you
Lots of military support vehicles.
Fantastic video clips🎥👍👍👍👍
5:16 Heck of a long flat car train!!
Chessie may be gone but not out of sight. quite the weather systems. now the CAT caught me again as was expecting a cat as at the vending machine..lol.

Just finished watching your grab bag from yesterday, and this this pops up, best timing!
I also found this just after watching a WWOT live stream, so even better

@@nathanw7114 That's pretty much what I expected. Thank you Nathan for such a detailed answer!
@@theplaneimage no problems!
what's cool about the clip at 16:40 you can see that exact same train in the last grab bag in deshler

Koolest 🚂😎👍
A fantastic and interesting grab bag once again VRF!! 😃👍
Nice
Raining cats and dogs? Well, at least you can be thankful it wasn't hailing taxis! :-)
12:40 Work smarter, not harder!
sometimes those flatcars with military vehicles on them have DODX on them
Dept of Defense 😉🚂

Hmm, military vehicles in dark paint. They’re not going to the desert anymore.
Good 'ol 21G there at 9:18

The clips are out of order. Look at the time stamp - the back-up move happened first.
interesting part is that at 16:41 that's probably an SD70 towing SD70's.
What are those G&W colored units, besides SD70s, anyways?
Military train special
Nais
And at the end of the video kids, you can see the train crossing over to the other side. It crossed over and is at peace. The end.
this locomotive stronger than Japanese
locomotive “Momotaro “
draw about 100 freight cars ❗️
great ‼️👍
Chessie lives in a rough neighborhood.

We also have 40x the territory and population. There’s your answer. We gotta move a lot more stuff
@ 3:40 better to rain cats and dogs than to hail streetcars.
Skoal! oops SKOL!
Go army
Railfan, you do terrific good work and your vids are sharp. Really appreciate your posts. Please, let me know what camera you use. Thank you.
If it's raining cats and dogs, do you have to worry about stepping in a poodle and getting your feet wet?
Yes you do :)
I wanna be a cat crossing a bridge.
Pity those tanker cars where not filled with skol as well
what is the BNSF OCS train for those that don't know?
It's used to transport railroad executives and bigwig customers for various purposes and events. It's most recent use was as a Super Bowl special.
@@J3scribe thank you

Hollywood Beach.
As my boss told me many years ago: "work smarter, not harder."
What is "Riding the Shove"? What's a shove?
Does anyone know why BNSF runs so many M.U.s on their consists? It can't be just that they have them to use. UP and SP run a ton but they have to go over the divide which always needs power!
I enjoy watching these vids but I often flash back to Gomez Addams doing destructive things with trains. Apologies. I am a Boomer/Geezer. 😃

WHY would they be hauling new locomotives on flatcars instead of just pulling them?
Different track gauge
Thanks you two. Hadn't thought about different gauges.
@Iain Gray Not important. I just couldn't think of ANY reason to haul locomotives, and now I have a few. That's all I was really asking.
