Rob Fulco I agree with OP. If you're feeling the music, it shouldn't matter if it's old, it can still have energy and feeling. This is an old video and Cobus' new vids are much higher quality.
Higher quality video doesn't equal better performance. The patterns and fills he would be playing would not be the same and could possibly ruin the cover just as much as it COULD possibly be better. But why chance it? The only way to keep moving forward is to not go backward.
Probably the main reason it won't happen is because this song isn't quite relevant these days anyway. I'm pretty much over it by now. But I'll watch Cobus drum anything, it's always good.

2011... god, I can perfectly remember the times in which I watched this video over and over again... such a great job Cobus, 2017 now and this still looks and sounds like a recent product.
2023 and i just searched for 3 hours to find this video. still the best cover of this song ever! i get disappointed when i dont hear the cowbell hit when its supposed to when i listen to the original. great work brother!!!!
I'm fairly sure this was recorded in multiple takes. The PST logo on the ride switches from top to bottom quite a few times in the video. Also at 3:11 in the video Cobus is moving his stick up towards the ride but on the very next shot at 3:13 it's back down on the bow.
Matthew Lake It's not necessarily a bad thing but Cobus should be able to play a song all the way through without the need for multiple takes. I've jammed this song many times and have never managed to mess it up. It is good however with the Quadrum series that he didn't use multiple takes as it allows the viewer to appreciate it more knowing that Cobus could do it in one go rather than having to do it multiple times.
Scott Bainbridge Look, all im saying is that he took several takes of this song. He might not have taken breaks. Im in a video class and I understand why he did that. I would rather watch a video that changes angles and gives you perspectives of what he does than just one camera in one place. I agree that he should have watch out for that. What I would have done, and this is advice for you Cobus, have multiple cameras recording you for about three sessions and then use the footage, because some people are nit-pickey online...(Ahem) but still, I see where your coming from.

+priyanuz deka Drumsticks vary in weight and length, and they break surprisingly easily when played at a certain force; maybe he needed heavier or lighter sticks for that particular part? I'm not completely certain, but it's a possibility :3
Legit, anytime that I wish to hear this song I have to listen to this version. Not only are the fills much better but that triangle strike during that rest makes this song 10 x’s better. I can’t imagine it without it. (No disrespect to Rev meant)
Devara F fYI arin was actually a good drummer, with the hail to the king he wanted to do double oedal and complex stuff but the band said they wanted something more simple and strong, so he only did what they told, wasn't his fault that album was shit

The video is made out of several recordings yup. You can also see that the red cup behind him is changing its direction (look at the handle)
