Lambert was and always will be the greatest linebacker to ever play the game. I love that guy. My favorite player of all time. I quit watching the NFL. I stopped being a Steelers fan. They all lost me. Makes me mad they put me in this position. I do miss the old 70’s Steelers. 👍🇺🇸❤️
I met and got jacks autograph when I was a kid back in the 90s. My dad played in a hockey game against a celebrity team which Lambert played on. At the time I didn't really appreciate who Jack Lambert was. But I have his autograph on a hockey stick of all things haha
DAMN! What it must have been like to be on those Steeler teams led by Mean Joe and Lambert rolling into town KNOWING you were the absolutely most badass MFers in the league and you carried all of that with you. That team was always like a loaded gun. Completely dangerous and victorious by far most of the time. What a player Lambert was. We all felt that power just by watching him.
@Randall Denison idk if you're mocking my draft analysis on lambert, who I think wouldn't even be drafted in today's faster and stronger game, or are you mocking these braindead steelers fans
Lambert will always be my favorite Steeler. When you think about Steelers toughness and grit, number 58 always pops up. His picture with his two front teeth missing will remain on my family room’s wall until I pass and then it shall hang on one of my children’s wall.
I met him at a mall in Butler PA at a signing in 2008 Shook hands with him and got to chat a few minutes while he signed my #58 jersey. It was somthing ill never forget.
1:05 pretty much says it all. Forward momentum, buddy? I don't think so. Then there's that hit on Earl Campbell at 1:40. People forget how tough that guy was. It was like trying to stop a giant cannonball. Lambert was one of the few guys who'd run full steam into big Earl, and actually halt him in his tracks. Man, I miss the old NFL team players, before it turned into the egotistical shit show we've got today. In fact, I stopped watching several years ago, and won't go back, even if they resume playing.
I was about 10 years old when I started watching football. First game I saw was the 2nd Cowgirl/Steeler Super Bowl. Being Texans my brothers and friends were obviously all rooting for Dallas. I went the other way (not knowing the Steelers were in the middle of a dynasty) and rooted for Pittsburgh. The Steelers won of course and I was hooked. I asked my parents for Steeler shirts which they bought me much to the chagrin of my siblings. On picture days at school I would proudly wear my Steeler shirts. Lambert was the player that left me in awe with the missing teeth and all. He was my favorite. In my 20s, when I really understood football, I was a BIG fan of Greg Lloyd and consider him my favorite Steeler of all time though Hines Ward (who is my son's favorite Steeler) and Polamalu (and Lambert) are close behind. Though 95 was and is my fave, 58 ( in my humble opinion) is the greatest Steeler AND middle linebacker (take that Butkus) of all time. Even Lloyd can agree with that...well maybe not. 😂
I’m a die hard Patriots fan, but I can say that Lambert has to be one of the best Linebackers to play the game!! I heard a full back say that when they played the Steelers he wanted to call in sick to avoid Jack Laambert!!
@Mr H History Rescue • Lambert adjusted to the rule changes from 1978 to 1984 from what he was able to do from 1974-77. He would adapt to today's pantsy rules
The Steelers version of Dick Butkus. When Lambert was hot under the collar (such as after the Cliff Harris incident) just stay away and keep your distance. As hot tempered as he was I only remember him being ejected from one game.
It doesn't seem that Jack does alot of autograph signings...Did he ever write a book? I know he's a Game Warden these days..I'm Ohio?? Penna? I'm a hunter, so maybe I have to go take some shorts (fishing 🎣) or poach a deer 🦌 out of season 🤔 to meet one of my Life Coaches ...atleast I'll get to hang out with The Man for a few hours!!!! Ha ha 😂 🤣 😆 😄 😅. It still gives me chills and send a lightning rod down my spine to watch these highlight films...Makes me wanna lay out a bank robber or purse 👛 snatcher in NYC running down the street. It's one of the only ways left to run as fast as you can and hit another man with everything you got and put his ass on Queer street as the Great UFC Legend Tank Abbott would say..yeah and in today's upside world 🌎..I...would get arrestedbl and charged with assault..NOT the criminal ...Ahhh..Id do it anyway...get to play "Jack Lambert" in Midtown Manhattan!!!! Happy Birthday Big Jack!! Matt NYC

I don't like the new players wearing jerseys with 82 88_68 and 78.These numbers belong to heroes from my youth.Nobody should ever wear 58.Jack Lambert's 58 should be retired along side Joe Greene"s75.
Awesome! 70's Steelers made me a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for life!
Same
The game is a shadow of itself

Haven't watched in about 20 years either. Got enough old games on DVD to remind me though.
Former NFL viewer myself.Stopped when they got political.Lambert was one mean sob.
Love him! My ultimate favorite player of all time!
I agree 1000% Connie. You have great taste!👍🇺🇸❤️
Grew up in the 70s watching the Steelers .What a team

When NFL players knew how to tackle. Loved watching him play.
Todd Cercone they know how to tackle. But the NFL makes it harder on them

JACK LAMBERT IS PURE BEAST MODE.
Some of Lambert's tackles weren't so much "punishing" as they were "crimes against humanity". Dude was an absolute monster on the field...!
I think most of what he did would get you fined and ejected today.
The best middle linebacker to EVER play the game!! Back when football was real and worth watching!
Lambert wouldn't start on an NFL team today.. too slow
Uhm he ran a 4.7 in the 40 that’s not too slow dipshit
@Randall Denison idk if you're mocking my draft analysis on lambert, who I think wouldn't even be drafted in today's faster and stronger game, or are you mocking these braindead steelers fans
@@smoothcremeux44 4.7?? who clocked that time? Lemme guess... the assistant trainer..and he was wearing daisy dukes with a 40mph wind at his back
Butkus
This guy played football the way it was meant ! Old school ! What an era we had the 80s football. Monday nights . NFL
A total beast!! A lot of those hits would result in penalties, fines and suspensions in today's NFL
Yes..and today's NFL SUCKS...Butkus said he couldn't watch it for quite a few years. Jack was awesome...Love the Man

Jack Lambert is the reason I wore number 58 in High School. One of the most intimidating players in NFL history!!!
Happy 66th Birthday Jack Lambert.
70's NFL and the Steelers was peak NFL.
I hope in my life time I get to meet this man. God Bless.

A mad man like that is part of the reason you win SUPER BOWLS
Lambert complete mad man on the field.
Man he was awesome
Freaking beast y’all,a living legend 👍🏽
He was simply the best better than all the rest better than anybody I better stop now they're going to accuse me of plagiarism
Here we go Steelers here we go!

You got it right on any part of your comment.
I much rather watch old games on RUclips than this new crap.
Jack was a freak
Kymari Conley he was the beast mode
It's extraordinary how strong he was for his size. He was fearless too...damn.
That. Was. Phenomenal.
The end of the video is the best...Lambert full of mud on his uniform!!!! I Miss the muddy fields.
Loved the way he literally tried to burry the opponent when he hit them. It seemed personal
These videos psych me up for the day...Matt NYC
El mejor de todos los tiempos.
Count Dracula in cleats. The heart of the Steel Curtain defense.
Exacto!! Una auténtica bestia Jack Lambert! Y el resto de ese gran equipo de acereros, grandes jugadores! Le dieron la gloria a Pittsburgh!
One of the greatest Bad Asses none to man that’s all I got to say
When I was young I loved jack I thought he was so damm cool Steeler nation 👍
Jack Lambert played like a crazy animal no fear no pain just punishment 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

1:58 looks like the grass hasn't been cut in a month. 2:35 Anderson's helmet looks like what you got for Christmas as a 7-year old kid
The heart and soul of that great defense
My favorite
2:47 it's like the dude just let go and said you take him down Jack
Mitchell Miller hall of farmer Mel Blount
NOW ALL OF THE FOOTBALL PLAYERS WEAR DRESSES. THXS 58✨
John Harold Lambert (Dracula in Cleats or Jack Splat
Men of old men of renown.
It wasn’t his size, strength or speed it was his total comment to every play!
He really caught the rb in mid air and toss his ass right back now that's what you called a #SteelCurtain 😤
This guy is cool
I miss the days when there werent so many rules... it was just get him on the ground
Steel Curtain!! I love it
Go big Jack need u today
The best.
Often he didn’t try to tackle. He tried to twist the helmet off 😂😂😂
#58 was relentless. Linebacker play as it was meant to be.

Get your shit straight.
JACK LAMBERT BAY BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No one has ever in the Pittsburgh Steelers
been able to play to the level and intensity
Which Jack Lambert played the middle linebacker position.
The interception against Green BAY why wasn’t he around in that Super Bowl lol grew up in Wisconsin!!
Man he took that helmet and was like get the fuck off him loll

Counted about 6 penalties for combo of late hit/taunting/defenseless receiver/slamming/unsportsmanlike haha.
when the foot ball was for real!!!....and for real men!!!
Not many played with more fury than #58
He must have loved Butkus, Nitschke and Mike Curtis (RIP ALL) because he ripped, flipped & mauled ball carriers just like them...My boys....Matt NYC
The MLB standard. Thanks Jack.
I'm guessing that Kent State had a pretty good run defense while Lambert was there.
TELL THEM LAMBERT SENT YOU. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID AFTER PUNCHING OUT THE PARKING ATTENDANT BEFORE A GAME!!!!!
They don't make them like that anymore.
Intelligence and ferocity.
Lambert looked like he was literally trying to kill the ball carrier on each play. In all actuality he probably was haha.
They don't allow hits like these anymore
That’s when football was worth watching
Cliff Branch almost lost his head.

El gran ' conde" Lambert
Back when they could actually HIT someone without getting a penalty for Targeting or some other Powder Puff Penalty.
Played like every opposing player either owed him money or insulted his wife. Dude was a walking horror movie.
