    Funny - I watched Franco's entire NFL career and I dont think I ever saw him really run over someone with that big body. He was one of the biggest backs in the game. He had to be the biggest, slowest finesse back ever. I did enjoy watching him run though.

    • @haroldmccoy6748
      @haroldmccoy6748 2 года назад

      How was he objectively slow in terms of his game play speed when he produced long td runs during his career ,and Franco ran through tackles as oppose to running over defenders ,check several of those situations in this highlite reel , I don't recall other Hof b.lsrge sized RB's such as Csonka ,Riggins ,having the outstanding vision and elusiveness that Franco possessed ,that rarified ability to routinely create a opening sling the line when none was available by bouncing it out then sharply cutting it back or utilizing his talent to get too top speed on the first or second step, or make defendersiss with his loose hips ,shoulder wiggle , quick feet moves ,Franco was the definition of a halfback runner .Nothing about Franco was slow ,or lacking inthe ability to get yardage with physical ,running ,he wasn't the typical optic manuscript of the orthodox big back fans,media pundits , general managers ,and players were accustomed to seeing ..That nevertheless dosent rationally mean he wasn't punishing when he obsolutely had to be nor was sloth like in speed either ,checkout his 79 yd TD run in 1977 vs the cowboys , but watch him run through the chiefs safety on this highlite reel . Franco is nonobjectively scrutinized by his detractors because he wasn't the embodiment of the great Jim Brown over powering style despite having the physical dimensions ,he achieved Hof success doing it differently .

    Franco was a big game player - Bigger the game, better he performed. Today's runners, while they have great skills, can they put them on display when it counts? Ask Todd Gurley. People questioned why Franco just went out of bounds instead of fighting for every inch, well I don't know many backs who have eclipsed 1,000 yards at the age of 33 or older, other than Adrian Peterson, John Riggins, John Henry Johnson, and Franco. Sweetness didn't, Emmitt didn't, Barry, Dickerson, Dorsett, LT all didn't. I'll pick Franco over any other back to play the game if the stakes are at their highest.

    • @hardcorehouse
      @hardcorehouse 4 года назад

      Big time, more so than almost any other back. Others may have the stats, but there’s no guarantee that any of them could do it. Franco made it a regular thing. Anyone who didn’t see the games would appreciate that he was the catalyst, ‘till Bradshaw matured.

      Actually Payton had 1333 in 1986 , and Emmitt Smith had 1021 in 2000, both surpassed 1000 yds rushing at age 33 .Sanders retired after his 10 season at 32 years of age with a 1491 yd rushing year with a 4.3 yds rushing avg , 4 yds .He retired before he turned 33 which would have been the following season .John Henry Johnson was the oldest player at the time to achieve 1000 yds rushing in a nfl season with pittsburgh in 1962 at age 34 .

      I've stated this for over 5 years , fortunately the sporting news nfl top 100 all time players have him at 98 ,still ridiculously too low .The nfl all time team has respected greats on their list who Franco is at minimum equally impactful as a great player .,Derrick Brooks, Darryl Green,Marion Motley ,Lennyoire, all truly great hof players ,all certainly justified as being fully recognized for their achievements, but Franco meant more to his teams success overall then any of them ..How objectively can a player who was the first rb to rush for 1000 yds 8 times in a career ,first to surpass 1000 in post season ,sb mvp ,be considered not a top 100 player ? He epitomizes a major reason of the 1970's Steelers dynasty success ,before him the dynasty squad hadn't made post season ,he's the primary figure inthe greatest play for in nfl history .If he had gotten tackled the game was over , pittsburgh had no time outs left . He could score long distance ,short ,make people miss ,run through shoulder tackles ,elite ,all-time vision ,top 10 all time cut back runners . The Steelers set a nfl record for rushing for at least 100 yds a game as a team for 3 consecutive years 1976 77,78, ,, Franco was a main reason behind that success . He gets ostricized for not attempting to squeeze every yd out of every run ,yet he squeezed juice out of a rock when he needed to for the sake of the teams success . He accumulated over 100 career tds rushing and receiving .4 time sb champion ,the leading rusher and main offensive threat of the Steelers offense n it's first two sb wins , he epitomizes the concept of a top 100 player .

    Occupys every criteria a historical top 100 player is suppose have ,yet only the sporting news all time top 100 has Franco on its lists ,the nfl's list has Darrell Green ,Troy Aikmon, Fran Tarkenton ,Derrick Brooks ,Marcus Allen ,Steve Van Buren "RIP" , respect to all of these great , great ,players and I'm sure even better human beings but in terms of total career and contribution towards being the reason behind their teams success ,Franco takes a back seat to none of these gentlemen . A High impact contributor , Franco could produce , especially in big games contribute towards helping his teams win those significant regular and post season contests .Franco career in pittsburgh was elite ,reflective in the fact those teams won 14 out of 21 playoff games lost 7 , won 4 sb championships whole holding or sharing 24:nfl records when he retired , the Steelers set a NFL record by rushing for 100 yds in ,43 consecutive games from 74 till 77 . Franco Harris continous irrational scrutiny because his running style wasn't the archetype of the historical large sized back ,and his reluctant desire to absorb unnecessary punishment once he had obtained as much out of a run as possible with exception being in crunch time situations is obsolutely ridiculous . Franco can walk without assistance from a Kane " Earl Campbell " nor was addicted to pain killers after career was over "Walter Payton " "RIP"because he refused to take in two or three defenders after a good run , particularly when he his team had 4 more downs after his run for a first down to capture a score .' I'm glad Paul Warfield was acknowledged as well as Lance Alworth on the all time top 100 lists .
