Lloyd was an animal..kirkland was a beast , woodson and Lake the snipers , and greene was lloyds long lost step brother...rip kevin greene
The famous 95 Steel curtain
I don’t feel enough people talk about this man he was phenomenal
I thought he was a sack machine, but the stats don't back that up. Averaged about 5 sacks a season, and I thought he was good
Most underrated LB ever!
HALL OF FAMER
You can't beat Steelers linebackers. We almost always been at the top or near the top of the league since the early 70's
Like I remember when his and Kevin Greene played between 93 and 95. Now THAT was a dynamic duo
real talk
Now you can tho lmao. Our linebackers now besides TJ are a disgrace
We? You mean them
No lie
Best defense we've had since the Steel Curtain days. Blitzburgh! Lloyd, Greene, Kirkland, Woodson just off the top of my head.
I remember that
Let me complete that defense,Carnell Lake.
Chad Brown brought that heat as well. Awesome D. Scary D
All of which was screwed up by Rod's season ending knee injury on opening day 1995. But I will say the 08 D with Troy Polamalu, Lawrence Timmons, Ike Taylor, James Farrior, James Harrison and Lamar Woodley was probably the best for 1 season since the 70s
@@Price70 dude you took the words out of my brain,👍👍
For those who don't remember, Lloyd's career started a little bit late because of a knee injury. Between 1990 - 1995 he was the best defensive player in the league. Often drawing serious comparisons to L.T. He was robbed of the defensive MVP in '94 because the media was in love with Dion Sanders that year and the fact that Woodson won it the year before didn't help either. He'll never make the hall of fame. He just doesn't have the gawdy sack totals, but for 5 years was truly one of the greatest defensive players of all time.
@chrisd913 And those five years, he was a beast in the Blitzburgh linebacking unit with Chad Brown, Levon Kirkland and the late, great Kevin Greene. #avoidlloyd95
@willardlockejr2965 He should be in the HOF. Especially now after watching Zach Thomas go in. Thomas wasn't half the player Lloyd was,in the same era for that matter. It's a slap in the face to anyone who watched at that time.
@@chrisd913 I still don't how in the hell Zach Thomas got in the HOF and Greg Lloyd is still waiting. Lloyd was just an intimidating force in the 90's and opposing players feared him. I still remember watching him play at Division II Fort Valley St. (Ga) College and he was a beast back then. And when the Steelers drafted him in '87, I was so excited. Even when he was wired up (for NFL Films), he was all business and looking to punish anybody who had the ball.
I'm second. Greg not only continued the STEELERS tradition of great Linebackers, he raised the bar on what playing LB for Steelers means! And we havent had that for sometime now. Please go find another Greg Lloyd!!!
Jeff Smart Shazier was Essentially gonna be Tom Brady of the defense smh
Jeff Smart TJ Watt right now is looking he's the next great linebacker. We'll have to see his play this next season first of course, but it's not like we don't have a guy.
@@UnkownSoldier100 i agree about TJ. Really think he is going to be GREAT!
My opinion is Lloyd is only behind Lambert. It's a shame we couldnt get him a ring. I think the list for best LBS is
1. Jack Lambert
2. Greg Lloyd
3. Jack Ham
4. James Harrison
5. James Farrior
6. Joey Porter
7. Kevin Greene
8. Jason Gildon
9. Levon Kirkland
10. Earl Holmes
11. Larry Foote
12. Clark Haggans (both Foote and Haggans werent flashy but always reliable and consistent as hell
And heres two guys who should have been great but never reached full potential.
Lamar Woodley
Kendrell Bell
This is my opinion. And really throughout the Steelers history they were always able to produce quality LB play from most of the players who played for them. Especially the Lebou/Cowher era.
@@thomasc.5219 Chad brown didn't make the cut?
Greg Lloyd is one of my favorite Steelers of all-time! 👍
Kevin Greene, Rod Woodson and this guy in particular are what made me a lifelong Steelers fans in the early 90's.
Greg Lloyd is one of my favorite Steelers because played the game the way it's supposed to be played. I met him once at a community fund raising event and saw him with his 4 year old daughter. She was performing a dance routine on stage and he was off curtain encouraging her through her routine by doing every step as well. Dude was so fast, strong, and focused on the field that every opposing offense had to worry about him but was so crazy about that little girl! Greg Lloyd was one of the greatest ever!
It’s a shame that this dude isn’t in the Hall of Fame
H'ell be eventually
The amount of game changing plays he made was amazing. I counted 13 force fumbles in these 3 minute clips alone! He made QB's rush throws, running back fall down instead of fight for extra yards, such an intimidating player! My favorite Steeler!
One of my most favorite Steelers of all time and could've easily fit in with the Steeler defenses of the '70's.
ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY!
Very underrated olb. One of the greats. It's a shame you never see him in any of these nfl films all-time lists.
Just plain nasty! I enjoyed watching LLoyd! Greg should have had a ring or two but they didn't have a quarterback during his career!
Biggest Mistake never drafting Marino! With that defense atlest 3 or 4 SBs.PERIOD
@@marlonjones7997 Gabriel Rivera would have been one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL if not for the accident! With Marino sitting there it still should have been the pick though!
Before Harrison it was Porter then Lloyd list of most intimidating linebackers , Steelers top that list overall all-time
Was my first jersey #95 ..couldn't tell me shit when I had the jersey on 👀
He was a BEAST 💪
Man I remember watching this dude play straight nightmare coming off the edge and the hits were vicious! Greg Lloyd was like 225?!? I think?? Damn we could sho use him 2019 season lol
Yeah, he wasn't that much, about 225, but he could bench press 470 pounds! 💪
He was part of my favorite linebacking corps of all time. They had as much intensity and talent as the 70's unit.
No they didn't lol.
But we had a very solid lb group in the 90s. With nickerson brown greene gildon Kirkland and greg lloyd etc. Only one hall of Famer in the group. That 70s squad of linebackers were all first ballot hof'ers
Hold up on that Car Wise Gentelman...
This dude!!!! What a heck of a player he was! He was the catalyst in the "BLITZBURGH DEFENSE" for years! It all began and ended with him! When he got going, it seemed like he motivated the rest of the defense! As he got aggressive, so did the rest of the cast! When he got enraged, well it only made that "NASTY BUNCH OF DUDES" that much more nasty too! With Kevin Greene on one end and he on the other tell me, during the 90's who was better? not really anyone else you could compare them too! The rest of that D was tough as well! Greg will always go down as one of my favorite Steelers of all time! Simply because he gave it 100% all the time and Bill Cowher always managed to find ways to get more of him! Dude was a stud!!!
Greg Lloyd rushed the passer, stopped the run, and could cover. What more could you ask from a linebacker?
Come cook for me at the tailgate before the game?
My first jersey I bought in the 90s, was a Greg Lloyd. I still have it.
Loved watching Greg play. Steeler fans have been fortunate over the last 40+ years to have guys like Ham, Lambert, Lloyd, Porter, Greene, Harrison, Watt, among many others.
From a Football Team fan....Greg Loyd is one of the scariest LBs ever
Loved this guy. Thanks for the memories Greg
I swear to God that dude sounded like a military drill sergeant. But yeah Greg Lloyd should be in the hall of fame.
Got to meet Greg a couple years ago while I was working. A really cool dude and wonderful spirit to be around talking Steeler football
Greg Lloyd should definitely be in the NFL Hall of Fame
It should be a felony for this man to still not be in the hall of fame...not only that but they probably won't put him on the nfls top 100 defensive team...avoid Lloyd gets no respect and he was a nightmare for offenses..
A pleasure meeting you today Mr. LlOYD. Lonne and Jennifer.
Scared people
Now imagine what coach Cowher could have done if he had a hof QB line Ben for his entire coaching career.
He would have probably won 4 sb's in his short career.
When they would actually let you tackle hard.
Exactly. I miss it.
I still remember that freak achilles injury that ended his career. Damn shame. He had so much more to give.
Lambert58,Lloyd95,Porter55,Harrison92. Those Steelers LB'S struck fear in the offenses they faced!!! Go Steelers!!! PS4L!!!
Man needs to be in the hall of fame
Probably my all time favorite Steeler. I was sad for damn near a week when Pit released him in ‘98. I would still rock his jersey today
1 of the best. That guy started me as a life long Steelers fan. Steelers 4 life!!!!!
He is the reason I'm a die hard Steelers fan to this day
Devastating injuries ended his career to soon. Would of definitely made the HOF. Steeler fans know what a special player he was
Favorite Steeler of all time
One of the Best
Hard to believe the absolute KNOCKOUT of Brett Farve was not in the highlights. Lloyd blitzed off the right side and hit Farve so hart it sent him airborne for about 2 yards. It was sheer Stiller beauty.
THE hit I was looking for the whole video! Lloyd was penalized for the hit, but Favre himself said he didn't think it was a bad hit!
Greg Lloyd brought the pain to opposing players during the Blitzburgh Years in the 90's.
One play missing: 1995 pre-season vs Packers, when he almost killed Brett Favre....
Missing the aftermath of a play vs the cowboys, where he shoved a player (thjnk it was alvin harper) and told him to get out of his (Woodson's) face. Hilarious. Think it was from 1994
I think the linebacker group of the late 80s through the 90s was the best bunch of linebackers the Steelers ever had and that's saying a lot.
I met him in person and got his autograph on a mini helmet! Awesome dude!
I wasn't commenting for my disposition
Boy, I sure do miss seeing that guy play! And I'm not even a Steelers fan!
Lloyd have mercy!!!!
Greg Lloyd and Kevin Greene were the best tandem of Outside LBs in the 3-4 defense in NFL history.
that cleanup hit on Bledsoe would a suspension and a fine nowadays.I miss old school football
Dem SHOULDER PADS ROCK !! ❤
The hit he put on farve was Mack truck 🚚 like 💪🏾
One of my favorite players ever!
Shame he isn't in the HOF. Lloyd was an absolute monster.
The next best thing to LT. And that’s saying a lot. Maybe as good , because he was doing the same things as LT. Just didn’t get the spot light. And I’m an LT fan. But Greg was surrounded by other good linebackers that may have taken the light off him some , but dang he was a beast. Played the game the way it was meant to be played.
Kirkland next!
Love Greg Lloyd! Wish the D today had that nastiness about them.
He could line up anywhere on the front seven.
I'm a Giants fan and hey if you like football then you should love this guy.
The one Steeler I wish had a ring who doesn't. Glad at least he as an AFC Championship ring that's more than a lot of great players have.
Wow what a player
And that’s why they call him The King Of Pain the heart of a lion my favorite Steeler all-time
Wasn’t around for 70’s Steelers, but Mr. Lloyd would’ve fit right in.
Deserved to be a champ.
My favorite player 🥶💎💎💎💎💎💎
He's got to get in the HOF!!! He is the gold standard!
Avoid Lloyd!!
Love❤
Greg Lloyd deserve to be in the Hall of Frame
greg lloyd most underrated lb of all time
Can't Avoid the Lloyd!!!👍🏻😎
GET THIS MAN IN THE HOF NOW!!!
From 1991-1995, he forced 27 fumbles, had at least 5 forced fumbles every year in that stretch
I sure miss those days
Steelers linebackers were created in lab by a mad scientist...Go Steeler Nation!!!
avoid Lloyd and you will not need surgery period!!!.
Yeah just ask his wife who he abused for years until she finally left after he pulled a gun on her.
Steelers have THE BEST linebackers in NFL history since the 1970, the past 50 years! Ham, Lambert, Russell, Merriweather, Lloyd, Green, Chad Brown, Kirkland, Gildon, Porter, Farrior, Foote, Timmons, Woodley, Harrison, Dupree, Shazier, TJ Watt!
History of PITTSBURGH IS IT’S LINSBACKERS !!!
He and Rod Woodson were the two that I hated didn't win rings in Pittsburgh.
an absolute POWERHOUSE of a player!
GREG LLOYD IS A BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely Bad Ass, how did we forget this formula, it starts with defense, then offensive line and running back, then you worry about the quarterback. that's how you build a Champion.
I have this mans autograph!
I WASNT HIRED FOR MY DISPOSITION!! 👊🏿
# 9 5
One of the nastiest defenses EVER!
FAN VOTE! Not the best, but WHO WAS THE MOST INTIMIDATING Steelers linebacker of all time? A. Greg Lloyd B. James Harrison C. Jack Lambert D. Joey Porter E. Other?
Greg was like the 2nd coming of Jack Lambert to me. When he got kicked out of a game in 89 I knew he was the next enforcer period..
They had better put 4-5 players on dude 3 ain’t gonna make it nor stop him just a awesome player at his position imagine if he was still with the Steelers lights out baby
Dick Lebeau's favorite player! Enough said..
Piece of steel straight out of Pittsburgh 412
It's a damn shame that today's defense can't live up to him or the days of Blitzburgh!
When is he going to the Hall of Fame one of the best linebackers of all time
AVOID LLOYD
Brett Favre mistakingly tried to run one in on the goal line in GreenBay and to his surprise went out with a concussion. Obviously wasn’t familiar with the tag line “Avoid Lloyd”🤪
That defence should have had two super bowls😤😤😤😤😤
Lloyd and Greene would crush QBs.
And if they didn't, Woodson or Lake would get the INT, many times for a TD.
Dude was a absolute nightmare
