    That 1:19 about locking tool off and back is for the special locking tool only.. You cannot put the camshaft belt on as you can do now using only the pins (drills). The special one has a crossconnection in between the locking pins.

      @@demonautomotive2726 One hour and nineteen minutes into the video is when the camshafts at TDC are shown.

      You can put the secondary timing belt on with the locking pins inserted, it's the main timing belt that is in conflict because it's threaded on the intake camshaft sprocket only. I have to say I don't know what the point of inserting drill bits is if you can still move the camshafts.

    My 1.6 AUS started rattling as hell today, Thank God i stopped the engine in time. The main timing belt is loose on one side and it looks like that the water pump got shot since it started leaking coolant heavily. Anyway, the engine doesnt misfire and is still powerfull im amazed i was so lucky this time. Gonna get this job done tomorrow

      I somehow managed to dissasemble everything and the pulley of waterpump can be pulled out by hand.. The bearing got completely shot without any signs or warnings.. There are bearing balls at the end of the cover

      @johnlakes6948 Sounds like the one I had in the shop. How old is the belt/pump and what's the mileage on those parts?

    • @johnlakes6948
      @johnlakes6948 4 месяца назад

      @@demonautomotive2726 it is 5 years old and the mileage was 120k km. I just found out that it jumped a tooth, but the engine was running without misfires before i shut it off. I will update with what i got next.

      Sounds like a poorly made waterpump then... I always try to order SKF timing belt kits with the water pump, they're the best brand to buy here in my opinion. One tooth is fine, no problemo.

      @@demonautomotive2726it was an SKF kit. I believe the mechanic before didn't take care of timing belt tension since i always heard the whine excately when the belt is too tight. But now when i have pretty much the tools i need and experience i'm gonna do it as it is supposed to be. The 8mm drill work perfect tho! Thanks!

    I don't have an impact. I tried to use an old torque wench but I see the belt at the top jolt when I try to undo the crankshaft bolt. Besides from the impact being beneficial later down the line for other jobs, would it work for the situation I am currently in?

    • @demonautomotive2726
      @demonautomotive2726  13 дней назад +1

      It certainly will, just buy a good Chicago Pneumatic impact and a compressor that has 50l and makes 10B. It will make your life easier. Cheers.

      @@demonautomotive2726 I noticed that my crankshaft pulley is out of alignment due to what I did with the torque wench. What would I do in that situation?

      Buy a new one I'm afraid. It was probably worn down anyways.

      Crankshaft pulley. What exactly have you done now because it's not very clear? Did you loosen the pulley with the belt still on or...? I don't understand your problem exactly I guess.

      The belt kit information comes from the supplier, you can look it up on their website or just scan the QR code on the box: vehicleaftermarket.skf.com/be/nl
