      I actually just encountered a strange thing after I finished the tutorial closed and reopened my blender file The edges of my shader have become a shade of purple, but I can't figure out where it's emanating from. All the rust colors and masks are set to what you suggested in the video@@RyanKingArt

      Oh nvm, I moved the HDR file into another folder so it broke the link and replaced it with a purple hue in the render.

    Thanks, Ryan. I appreciate the tutorials very much. I'm still very new at this and it's all a little mind-blowing. I do have one question though. Once you have created your new procedural material, whatever it might be, what is the basic process you need to do to be able to use it on other objects in your Blender projects? Do you simply save the file as a .blend file? But then how do you access those various materials later? Do you append that file into your new work? Thank you for any help you might be able to provide this old geezer. In Him, Daryl.

    Great work, but I don't know why even if I did it exactly like yours. Ico sphere scale included. In the node scale. I've been forced to scale down to 0.050 to get something similar to yours. Did I miss something?

    Are you using Linux Mint? If you use it, would you recommend it? I'm really bored of windows and I'm looking for a Linux distro where I can work on 3D. My computer just crashed for no reason and my project was destroyed due to the "missing DNA block" error. probably because of windows because I don't have a bad system.. :(

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  10 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, I use Linux Mint Cinnamon, and I highly recommend it. You could also look into Ubuntu, that's another good Linux Distro.
      Also, because Linux is easier on your computer, Blender actually renders faster on Linux! CG Geek made a video about it a while back. Windows is clunky and bloated, and has a lot of un-needed stuff on it, that can slow down computers.
      The biggest downside to Linux, is that some programs don't work on Linux. So you might want to make sure all of the programs you use work. However, all of the programs I want to use, like Krita, Gimp, Thunderbird, Firefox, OBS, Blender, Audacity, Skype, Discord, Zoom, and a lot of other programs, do work.
      Also, If you're a gamer, Steam works on Linux too. so you can get a lot of games that way.

    • @Overvolve
      @Overvolve 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@RyanKingArt Thanks for replying. I've been wanting to switch to Linux for a long time, but I wasn't sure. I researched alternative programs I could use and watched the videos you mentioned.
      I think now I can switch to Linux without any doubts. thanks!

    Do you have videos on masking uv maps and useing the masks ??? I want to texture using nodes i want multiple texture alpha on different parts and control the scale and intensity i think they do it by masking uv maps and ues them to tell the nodes where to effect but i can't find a video on RUclips that shows how to mask uv maps and use them with nodes

    Hello! I have a question. How do you add bump maps along with camoflouge materials? Does it invovle adding an additional node along with the camo? What I mean is how to put the bump map ON TOP of the camo material (or any material for that matter). Thank you!
    EDIT: I meant how to put bump maps from texture painting ON TOP of the material. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

    Do you think Blender has the same potential to create materials as substance designer? Thx

      In order to use a procedural material in a game engine or another 3d software, you will need to bake the material out to texture maps. Check out my tutorial on how to do that here: ruclips.net/video/B2kFeMBBBjc/видео.html
