The political aspect of Tumbadd is barely ever discussed. There is so much to uncover from Rahi Barve and Anand Gandhi's vision for this movie!!🤩❤ Great video guys👏🤩❤🔥
Oh! So thrilled you took on Tumbbad, without a doubt, my favorite Hindi film. IMO, it easily sits among the great “stately” gothic horrors which include The Innocents (1961) and The Others (2001). Your analysis was spot on…thank you! I strongly believe that great film analysis does not stop with the film, but instead couches it within the culture that has birthed it. Your channel wonderfully embraces this approach, always leaving me wanting more. I was very happy to hear about its re-release and subsequent greater exposure for this film. However, I’m a little less enthused about the idea of a sequel for Tumbbad (or the just announced sequel to the Tamil film ‘96). Unless there is a radical take (think of the Kantara prequel set 1600 years in the past) or organic need for conclusion (Kill Bill Part 2), I only think that sequels tend to diminish the luster of the original. We shall see…
To be honest the father that you stated itself had weird sexual fantasies that he had to exercise I do not see such man as father and anyways this is the test of man either again be consumed in stories of Bharani Nakshatra or Complete stupendous fantasies of Swati Nakshatra. Gain complete individuality or be consumed my Devi again.
Curious to know why they showed the Brahmana caste in a very bad light in the movie, please understand I'm not against it because the director has the liberty to show anybody in any limelight, but I've noticed this pattern in many new age directors from both Hindi and Tamil film industry. Hence the question.
Power corrupts.. and if a group is sitting on top of a power hierarchy, history has always found them to exploit the ones below the ladder. In India it might be Brahmins, in the West it has been the Church, in the Middle East we have witnessed the Taliban atrocities, in Soviet or China it has been the Communists. It is definitely not about everyone belonging to that powerful group, but hardly has there been a group in power for long without being unjust. Cinema, literature or any form of art has always tried to put up a resistance or critique to this exploitation of power. That’s what you also see in India though not very often and that’s what you will also watch in cinema from Iran, China, Afghanistan or the Western World.

Vision is of rahi only
Speechless !
I contemplated about it when I saw the two individuals looking quite similar to Savarkar and Golwarkar 😂😂😂
Rewatched this masterpiece after 6 years today on the big screen. ❤
Even i thought about politics and pre modern history connection aspect with india, but I never shared with someone or somewhere .

We feel the same on the sequel. The original’s director stepping out doesn’t help either. Hope they don’t diminish the film going for easy routes.
One of the solid analyses of Tumbbad out there 👏
Thank you 🙏
Great analysis 👍👍

Analyzed well

Because Brahmans have power and those in power needs to be held to a higher standard.
You're mispronouncing the title which is irritating to my ears and hence has affected the viewing experience of this video. It's Tum-baad.
:(
Tumbaad is based in Konkan right? Not Pune
The ruins were in Konkan region while adult Vinayak and his family lived in Pune
@@filmkopath ah, got it. Thanks for this brilliant video.
Bro, honestly keep your personal thoughts about politics to yourself. I believe there is no such connection between Gandhi Godse incident and tumbad.
banda bas gyan derha hai lol
Who are you to decide what they should upload on their own channel?
