What kind of music is this? First of all, awesome. The first part is a Bluegrass dirge, but the it goes into Nashville Rock/Rap fusion (Think Kings of Leon with Eminem as a frontman). Its almost too much...but it works somehow. She more than carries it, she lifts it into the stratosphere and then sends it into orbit and into interstellar space with that last ascending note. Freaking phenomenal.
To think that she did this as an encore at the end of her concert just blows my mind.
Kaseys voice, in fact Kasey herself is the very definition of "perfectly imperfect "
Certainly pretty enough
It's the fact that that even when she hits the 'failure's NOT!' peak, the song STILL continues to lift. Those moments between the bellow of 'not' that and the massive howl 'got' - that's when time just stops. One of the most extraordinary things I've ever heard.
EM was so impressed with the cover he allowed KC to upload it to Spotify. BTW, AU, is Australia. She was 46 when this was recorded. Her dad is on the slide guitar.
Wasn’t that SOMETHING?!!!🔥🔥🔥
This performance has been described as Rock-Ballad, a mix of country, blues and rock; Kasey has taken this song, and made it her own. Full of emotion and pain, that reaches into your soul; it is hauntingly beautiful.
I like that description!
It seems you weren't expecting a bluegrass country folk rock heavy metal version of a classic rap song, played on a banjo . Enjoyed your reaction. I think the sound was professionally recorded but the video was compiled from fan phone footage.
Brilliant.
A raw experience of emotional transportation!
What a performance 💯🔥💪
Nice reaction to this legendary reimagined take on Eminem's classic.
She had asked her fans that were in attendance at this concert to send in videos they took at this concert so she could make a video to this .
Her dad is playing slide guitar.
Wow. What a heartfelt reaction ❤
Great reaction, Kasey is Australia's queen of country, she had a tough journey career wise. She's a big fan of Eminem and during lockdown she put this arrangement together as a bit of a 'loveletter', she wanted to show how amazing his lyrics are. She played it as an encore at this concert, so no one had heard it before, imagine their surprise. Thanks for this, it was wonderful. ❤
This would have been such a special surprise … I was completely shocked even though I knew what song was coming so I can only begin to imagine not knowing what song was coming 😂
@@SoulSessionSundays Also, Eminem has seen this, and he loved it so much, he gave her permission to put it on her Spotify. So that's cool.😃
This is an extraordinary performance. Thanks for the sincere reaction.
It truly is! Oh anytime x
That's our Kasey. Loved your reaction.
Yes! Thank you! 🤍
Just an amazing artist doing her thing with her amazing voice and banjo. Thanks heaps for the reaction. Can you please react to Jimmy Barnes legendary band called Cold Chisel “when the war is over” live Ringside 2003
A very captivating performance indeed! Love your reaction!
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Good reaction, thanks for finding another Australian great. Kasey has that certain vulnerability, the ability to wear her heart on her sleeve and share it with you.
Kasey started in her parents Country band (the Dead Ringers Band), then went solo in 1998. She's got a dozen albums under her belt now and was the youngest artist ever inducted into the Australian Recording Industry's Hall of Fame.
if you want to discover some more of her, I'd suggest trying 'Aint no Little Girl' (the version at the Bluegrass Underground is probably the best) and 'Nullarbor Song (Live)'.
The ability to wear her heart on her sleeve and share it with you …. I felt that! Thank you 🫶🏽
@@SoulSessionSundays Nullabor Song is one of my favourites.. can’t say there’s a song that Kasey sing that I don’t like. She’s an amazing artist. @SoulSessionSundays you should try being in a room with her when she’s singing this.. there’s no words to describe it
She just leaves it all out on stage. So much passion.
'Ain't no Little Girl' - live at the Bluegrass Underground is well worth a look at.
Yes, lose yourself in the music of the night, my King🌙 absolutely love this version 🙏 folk rock/soul is good description 👍
I’ve heard this quite a few times now and the part I like most is that first contact with another band member; the guitar is so tender and I think it is the player of said tender guitar that joins her in harmony. These are both perfect. All up it is a great construct even if it’s not my kind of song.
Fantastic reaction, yes Kasey made this her own and gave it her all. It a banjo rhat she is shredding there! Just fantastic.
Many Rap "Purists" may hate this......but, Kasey's heartfelt, emotional performance from a woman's perspective is powerful ...........after all, artists cover songs (1) to HONOR the original and (2) put their own interpretation on the song, to tell what it means to them ...........Kasey did both.............the 'Fairy Voice Mother' said....."She strums that banjo like it owes her money !" lol...............
How could anyone ever hate this rendition? She obliterated it and she felt the mastery of Eminem’s lyrics. There’s no words to describe this performance 😀
Many rap “purists” actually seem to be the ones who appreciate this cover the most, I guess because they have a particularly strong connection to the original and Eminem’s lyricism.
Ooops. I don't know either the original song, the original artist OR Kasey. But I do know that she has a very special and beautiful voice, and a seemingly very particular style. Crazy level of emotion in her voice 🙂 I see that I have some research to do. Thanks again for expanding my repertoire if you will 😉 This could POSSIBLY be a suggestion by my bud? It sounds like something that he would probably love as well. Take care, Adrianna! Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥ Btw, I believe she was playing a banjo 😊
It was not my suggestion, but I do love what I hear! (Just today for the first time...) - Don't know who she reminds me off, Portishead comes to mind, maybe a little PJ Harvey too (both singers/bands I like quite a lot - and others, can't put my finger on it...) - wow, I like how they turn it up towards the end, tight band as well... This was really a delicious performance! - Are there any outcomes from your research yet? Any suggestions for other songs by her? See you later on Adriana's new ones buddy, have a nice Sunday!
Banjo. Kasey is a multi music award winner here in Australia and has been around the traps here for quite a few years. She is better known for "county/folk/bluesy/Aussie" music.
Wow great reaction lovely lady. I had heard Eminem's song years before but never really heard those lyrics. Kasey manages to tell his rather horrific story of his abuse as a youngster ....Her emotion is palpable and the she echo's his rage with that ending where she just literally 'loses herself' That band also was just awesome. Her dad on the slide guitar and her brother on lead guitar, and that darn drummer lol wow. Glad you enjoyed our Aussie sister Kasey.
That was Brandon Dodd on the guitar/backing vocals (who has been in her band for a few years now), not her brother Nash. I thought so too until someone else pointed it out. 😊
BANJO! And if you picked up the eerie sound when the band came in it was her Dad playing the steel/slide guitar which basically carried the second half. Great reaction!
Oh wow didn’t know that! Thank you for sharing xx
She's playing her Banjo.
Am I the only one getting serious Joplin vibes after the drop?
Definitely got all of Janis' attitude.
Didn’t even consider this but yup! It’s there x
Every time I watch it, I think this must be what Janis would sound like if she were a country singer in present day Australia.
It's a "Rock Ballad" - best cover you will EVER hear in your life - Em actually does a pretty good cover of Kaseys song 👏👏🇦🇺🦘
IMO This is better than the original. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one ,and this is mine .
😂😂😂
I’m in love with this version of the song!❤ I never fully understood the pain that Em was singing about, but now I FEEL IT!! ❤ I really enjoyed your reaction to this video, new sub! 😂❤
Oh I’m so glad! Welcome to the crew 🤍
she has been around a long time I loved her song with Shane Nicholson I think thats his name called rattl'n bones now this blew me away
gave it everything love your reaction as usual
Thank you lovely! I’m surprised I’m only just hearing about her if that’s the case 😅🤦🏽♀️ Thank goodness for you guys 🤎
Really enjoy your reactions as I believe you know what your talking about
I try 😂😂😂 not always though 😅🤎
She's playing a banjo, a ukulele is usually a smaller guitar type instrument with 4 strings instead of the normal 6 on a guitar.
Thanks for this 😊
AMAZING👏👏👏👏👏
Reaction 10/10. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed! 😊🤎
Eminem brought the lyrics but Kasey brought the emotion and soul. It made me appreciate the genius of Eminem's lyrics even more.
Eminem gave for permission to use the song he was impressed by the way she sang it and he gave her permission and that's a wonderful thing that's a great thing for Em to do
Kasey brought out "Not Pretty Enough" where she was having a go at the music industry for not playing her music because she looked a little punkish/alternative rather than blonde, made up & skimpily clad like many women were forced to be in the pop/country genres. Back in 2001 just about the same time Lose Yourself was issued by Eminem. Ironically it actually charted in the US, where she's often classed as alt country. Ain't No Little Girl is a good follow up to hearing/viewing this song, though.
Have you seen the movie dueling banjos, well she is playing a banjo which is common in American bluegrass music.
I haven’t I’m afraid 😂😂😂
The movie is Deliverance, staring Bert Reynolds.......Dueling Banjo's is the epic instrumental from the movie, but is actually a duel between one banjo and an accoustic guitar. lol
If you want more Kasey try her Ain’t No little girl 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Yep you called it three generes in one rap, country and rock, this song with its powerful story within the lyrics must of meant something to Kasey to make it her own .
First 'Reactor' that used Eerie!...Bless ya!
🇦🇺❤️

on many levels 😉
Banjo baby
Banjo
She played banjo & her Dad was playing slide guitar xx
P.S. Always listen to Aussie music Live!
She's playing a banjo and her dad is playing the slide guitar.
She ain’t no little girl.
Broadly speaking, the genre is closest to Rockabilly. And the instrument she's playing is a banjo.
She was playing a Banjo and not that easy to play. Generally a lot of plucking and finger picking
😅 Eminem gave her permission to use the song as a cover cuz he was very
Soulk ?😂❤️ or Rock n Soulk.
🤣🤣🤣
Please react to Beth Hart. I’ll take Care Of You.
Baby llama dramas? Wtf!
👀
Kasey Chambers has been a favorite of mine since I heard "The Capitan" on the Sopranos episode where Tony's girlfriend Gloria kills herself and the song comes on as you realize the tragedy that just occurred!
Also, "am I not pretty enough" is another big hit by Kasey Chambers but its a totally different sound!
