Athena Selectorized Side Mount Functional Trainer
The Athena Selectorized Side-Mount Functional Trainer is a low-profile cable attachment that integrates into the side of your PR-4000 or PR-5000 series power rack. Get the functionality of a functional trainer machine so you can build your upper body and get in accessory and isolation work, without needing space for a stand-alone unit. In addition, it provides a lower price point (and smaller footprint) than the Ares Attachment, which includes a lat pulldown and low row. The Athena features a 2:1 pulley ratio, which means 20lbs feels like 10lbs. Each stack weighs 170lbs per side (feels like 85lbs) with the option to upgrade each stack to 220lbs (feels like 110lbs). It features hot-rolled steel plates with a 3% tolerance and a magnetic pin for quick and easy weight changes. Add bands to the integrated band pegs on the base and headplate for added resistance up to a max of 540lbs. The Athena gives you the freedom to customize your rack’s functionality by choosing either a left, right, or dual-sided setup.
    Weight 258lbs (per unit)
    Weight Stack 170lbs
    Pulley Ratio 2:1
Cable Weight Capacity 540lbs (per side)
    Cable Travel 106” (93” rack) or 82.8” (80” rack)
    Added Height 1.8”
    Added Width 3.7" (PR-4000) or 5.0” (PR-5000)
Added Depth 6.0” (Front of Rack)
    Ares Cable Attachment
    .
Lat Pull Down and Low Row Selectorized Attachment
Build out your power rack with the Selectorized Lat Pulldown and Low Row. This pulley system is compatible with 4000 and 5000 series racks and brings the functionality of cable movements to your set-up. Great for building your back, this attachment can also be used for curls, belt squats, tricep work, and so much more. The system features a 200lbs weight stack with 1:1 ratio, meaning 10lbs feels like 10lbs. The weight stack also features band pegs to add additional resistance and the weight stack can be upgraded to 300lbs . Quickly move between 10lbs weight increments with the magnetic pin.
The attachment comes with a matte black powder-coated lat pulldown bar and low row bar and is also compatible with a wide variety of our cable attachments. The tread foot plate is adjustable through an integrated pop-pin system for bracing against during low rows. The cables are high quality, made from galvanized wire with a raw steel core, and the pulleys are aluminum. Bring the functionality of traditional commercial equipment into your home gym! Note: This attachment requires the Rear Base Stabilizer, which serves as the anchor point to the rack.
    • Upgradeable Weight Stack
The 200lbs weight stack operates at a 1:1 ratio which means that 10lbs feels like 10lbs. The stack can be upgraded to 300lbs.

    Tread Plate
The Selectorized Lat Pulldown & Low Row comes with a foot plate to help brace movements

You don’t need a 6 post rack for the Athena ! You can build a 4 post pr5000 Athena setup and add the Selectorized lat low row to the setup.

When worlds collide! Love both of y’all! I’m rockin with the selectorized high low stack. That 1:1 ratio entirely selected through the pin but heavy is tantalizing. Great video you two!

Marcus sold me on it, just placed my order for the 300 pound selectorized for my PR5000. Next year I’ll probably get the Athena if I can justify it. Right now just don’t have a use for a functional trainer but it would make my rack look more badass 😂

Checking in! Ready to see the Athena hype!!

  • @tstoke7877

I think the Athena is the better option of the two because your biggest cons for pulldowns (the angle of pull and not being able to secure yourself down) could be simply mitigated by combining both stacks and sitting between the uprights. You could use something like the Darko Lifting Longy Bar or even something like the double hook straight bar from Bells of Steel to connect both pulleys, then use leg rollers on the front uprights to secure yourself down like you would doing pulldowns on an Ares. Plus, combing the two stacks would allow you to go heavier without having to use a gym pin/bands as much. Clear winner imo
