The character archetype of Goku, is a synthesis of Shintoism, Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism. In this case, For Buddhism they believe in innate buddhahood for all sentient beings(which includes evil doers like Moro). Goku is like a "Bodhisattva" which, are enlightened beings who strive to get others to achieve enlightenment and awakening. They believe in universal compassion. This is why Goku is written to be pure hearted and forgiving, as well as doing things like giving a senzu bean.
In the East, specifically in terms of Buddhism, the primary struggle facing people is the cultivation of self and freeing themselves from the cycle of samsara. Those who selfishly pursue things will be forced to endlessly reincarnate untill they let go of the five aggregates of Buddhism

Toyotaro is just indifferent about Piccolo. Not the fact that he doesn't like him - he neither really likes nor dislikes him...
What you were trying to do is compare how Toyotaro feels about Piccolo to how Toei feels about Tenshinhan. Toei HATES Tenshinhan, or "China: The Character". Which is why he got screwed out of two episodes and became the most noticeable non-factor in the tournament of Power, AFTER the fact that people forgot he existed when they were trying to recruit the strongest fighters they knew. Toriyama at least does justice to Tenshinhan in every arc through Dragon Ball Z, because he still likes him. Toei purposely looks for ways to screw him over.
But Toyotaro doesn't do that with Piccolo, he stays relevant as best as he can - and he couldn't defeat someone Gohan couldn't beat, which would make sense. Only time Piccolo surpassed Gohan was during the 7 year period of peace in the start of the Majin Buu Arc, but then Gohan trained to get back up to par and then got his Mystic power up. But yeah, like two or three things that Piccolo said made him seem out of character, but I'm sure that wasn't intentional.

Power wise Toyotaro doesn't seem to hate him since he made him fight alongisde SSB Goku and Ultimate Gohan, and outperformed both androids, including 17.
But character wise.... yeah, Toyotaro simply makes him say weird stuff.

The biggest problem I had with this arc was that the characters were out of character.

Moro just stopped using the abilities that gave him the edge
Passively absorbing Genki changed to having to point his hand at you
He stopped using the magma of the planet, he stopped using magic clones, he even said on Namek I have many magic abilities and didn't do shit with them.
I really hope the anime expands the fights and allows Moro to keep his cunningness and magical abilities.

Talking about Buu, in the tournament of power he was suppose to participate but unable to do so becoz he fall asleep, and it has been established that when Buu fall asleep nothing could wake him up.. but in this Arc, Jaco manage to wake him up in an instance to approach Uub.. that’s weird
good theory but where is jaco before the top i only last saw him in finale episode of dbs ending. Thats weird.
Crazy 'what if' idea about a third wish for Moro. What if the wish was:
"Teach me how to make dragon balls!"
We know that namekians learned to create dragon balls from studying the Super Dragon Balls, so some other magical character could potentially learn it. Moro was able to learn how to detect dragon balls on Namek, so he was starting to understand their magic.
Goku giving moro the senzu bean is what I hated the most
Vegeta all of the sudden becoming irrelevant is what made me furious!!

I really think people need to understand that the Eastern Philosophy in Asian cultures is vastly different than in Western cultures.
In regards to Metaphysics and Ethics, it is night and day on concepts of Gods and Evil.
For example, Evil in the East is not a "substance" in a monist point of view. It does not have matter associated with it.
In the west, from a theological point of view, St. Augustine viewed evil as a "privation of good" he didn't believe Evil was created since that would deconstruct the presumption that a God was perfect in the sense of omnipotent, all good, and omniscient.
Also in the West, people tend to believe in a concept in Theodicy called the "vale of soul making". This would be the explaination for the problem of evil. That is, the existence of evil as a phenomenological effect, that motivates and breeds self cultivation of behavior and harmonious virtues in mortals.
The reason I added the stuff about evil and Godhood, is that people always struggle with coming to terms of why don't Whis or the Kaioshins or the other Gods, actually intervene. This is a struggle that parallels actual history in theology and is across cultures.
Thinking of these things, helps to mend the frustration and appreciate the background more.

Why didn’t goku use hakai to beat the crystal
I liked the fact that Goku didn't beat Jiren with UI but instead had to work with others to beat him, I felt like it showed off how strong UI would be but didn't just let him beat it because *new transformation* and it hyped it up for when he would be able to willingly go into it. And then he instantly learned how.....and ruined it.
After reading this arc,
Piccolo: Toyotaro never forgets facts he himself made and never copies things from previous arcs that's why characters don't make the same mistakes they made before!!!!!!!
@@WildWeavile I almost agree with Vegeta one, but Gohan's just a side character like the entire DBS. The thing with Buu a bit more complicated, like it didn't made sense him fighting Moro or Uub giving energy enough to reactive Goku's UI.
@@WildWeavile if uub truly had so much god power, it means kid buu had the same power as well since uub is the reincarnation of buu and it is nowhere stated that uub got more powerful after reincarnation, which technically means buuhan had the power that could activate MUI and absorbed Gohan which had basically infinite potential. Buuhan was Kid buu + Grand Kai + Gohan. By that standard end of Z characters were more powerful than Moro, Jiren, Zamasu and Broly.

@@WildWeavile thats what I'm saying, you say the right thing, but prove to me that Kid buu had small amount of god ki, because every time everyone they explain the kid buu and grand Kai fight, they say Fat buu instead had small amount of god ki and Kid buu had all the remaining ki. And since there is no implication that Uub got more powerful than kid Buu, the whole powerscaling that super got more powerful than Z fall down.
It doesn't make sense that uub with kid buu power level can power up MUI.

Vegeta deserved to be the hero of this arc, if not some future arc. Here's what I thought Moro deserved: the ending that Queen Legravalima got in The Promised Neverland. While Moro is fused into the Earth, Buu/former Daikaio take a page from their own book and awaken the memories of everyone Moro ever drained. With that many memories from millions of life forms swirling inside him, Moro cannot make out his own memories or identity, thus losing his form and sinking into the planet. The planet eater becomes food for the Earth. Missed opportunity.
They raised up so many characters just to sink them. I thought Daikaio might come back and do a thing. Kinda, not really. And no development for Buu. He can't even become a slightly smarter Teletubby for more than three months. Vegeta: had the perfect plan, but didn't know about 73. If Moro had just thrown up, Vegeta would have won. Merus: did a thing, was cool, and it almost got him deader than dead. I'm happy he got what he wanted, but nothing important changes. And Goku... sparing Frieza makes more sense than sparing someone who's been an inexplainable dick for millions of years. I almost wanted Moro to kill you. You got cocky. You thought you could beat him if he made more trouble... two damn seconds later. Save the speech for Granolah, baka.

I think Vegeta shot a Ki blast at the Yardrats to split them apart because we see he doesn’t need to touch you, but hurt you, and Ki blasts work, as he does it to Earth Moro

And what about the super huge energy blasts that Vegeta gained when he was training on yardrat?!?! Once Vegeta got to Earth to fight, he never used an energy blast at all! He could have gotten behind Moro and blasted the hell out of him without worrying about Moro opening his mouth and eating all Vegeta's newly learned energy blasts.
He never learned a “new energy blast” technique. It was just a regular energy blast. That panel of him firing that huge blast was just to show how much more powerful he got. But Moro would’ve just ate the blast
I respect that, unlike almost any the other DB youtubers, you point out and examine also the negative sides of DBS, which it has dozens of. It is really a whole different continuity than DBZ, there are far too many changes, for the worse mostly imo, to keep calling it cannon, and you point it out openly, rather than being scared of saying anything undiplomatic and unpopular. Good job Mike.
I at least like that Laughingstock isnt biased for his audience either, the way other youtubers will hype up the anime and give it a pass so they don't get hate from fanboys over it but only just criticize the manga. Most of those guys would excuse or ignore the anime's asspulls or bad writing just to stay hyped but act like the manga is somehow worse.

I feel like Vegeta had so much character development. His goal for redemption was so apparent at the beginning. And then of course they robbed him because he isn’t Goku.
The bad thing in Moro arc I can see is:
1. Moro being cunning villain by depowering himself so that Goku and Vegeta can get away on planet Namek.
2.There's no explanation as to why Moro doesn't respond to his magical ability after the 73's absorption and also after having Merus's power despite having confidence in his magic.
3. It's odd that we didn't get much of Beerus involvement not even a single interaction with Moro.
4. The last thing has to be not knowing much of Moro is not interesting backstory, Torotaro teased us with Moro eating planets and fought with Supreme Kai and that he is the supreme being with magic power but what else do we know of him? Good thing that he's dead now.
Wow didn't know the consistency of the action was so bad. Hopefully when this stuff gets animated they try to keep a close eye on that sort of thing. The anime and manga have been different for a while, so I guess we'll see if the anime can learn from the mistakes of the manga this time around.
I agree with Laughingstocks #1 complaint. So tired of goku always coming to save the day. It's played out and they need to stop it. Sigh

On the Goku point, he could have just used Instant transmission Kamehameha and killed Moro but just like Z when a character does an attack one time and it doesn't work, they never use it again when it would make sense too.
I honestly find it hard to believe that this arc started on so much promise and yet ended up becoming a big disappointment due to bad writing. My two standouts for why this arc failed is Moro after Namek and the treatment of The Z Fighters. Moro was initially a great and interesting character on Namek who relied on magic and wit rather than brute force to defeat his opponents along with his unique but once he got his youth restored he started to gradually become more generic and less interesting when he stopped using magic and just use raw power to win and that reached it's apex when he absorbed Seven Three that led him to lose his cool goat look to become a bland carbon copy of Cell. The Z Fighters were given some promise to relevancy by fighting Moro's minions who although not great was much better than Frieza's soldiers. However for some reason they couldn't let the gang win and instead resorted to this bullshit out-of-nowhere "surprise" by having Goku come in and defeat all of the henchmen without any problem that the Z Fighters struggled with which not only makes Moro's wish on Namek pointless in the grand scheme of things but makes The Z Fighters look like a bunch of weakling that could never compete with Goku and Vegeta which to me is the biggest and worst problem of Super that at this point will never be fixed because Toyotaro and Toriyama either hates the side characters or have no idea what they are doing.

I was so disappointed that the fights with the side characters and moro's men were short,the fight with the sabiaman was longer than all of them (individually)
When u mentioned Uub having divine Ki don’t forget Kid Buu absorbed the South Supreme Kai before Daikaio. Moro(7-3) healed his arm, because of coping Piccolo. Namekian’s need damage inflicted to the head to disrupt their healing factor. Even if Merus didn’t know of it his final blow was directly to the crystal on his head. I just saying maybe if he didn’t hit him in his head Moro (7-3) could’ve possibly healed the rest of his crystals that was sealed prior from Merus.
I think I'm the only one who counts Goten and Trunks being absent as a bad thing about this arc. I still have hope that they'll get more involved but I highly doubt it at this point. They assembled the ENTIRE squad. And Goten and Trunks were the only ones not there. WHY MUST WE SHAFT THEM SO HARD AFTER THEY WERE GETTING A HUGE PUSH IN THE BUU SAGA... uuuugggghhhhhh

Merrus was an ANGEL, I don't have a problem with him taking down Goku and Vegeta. Even with just a ray gun. If Beerus can take down Piccolo with chopsticks, an ANGEL can take them down with his stupid little gun.
They made piccolo look so fodder😔 but it’s no different from a regular gp gun? Like did meerus infuse it with angel power? Like if beerus fires a regular gun does the gun have more power ?
@@picassojulien899 Merrus couldn't have infused it with angel power because that would've broken the no real fighting for angels rule. I'm sure the gun couldn't hurt anyone important. And no, that's not how it works. You'd probably overload and destroy a gun if you tried pumping god power into it. Beerus doesn't need a gun anyway and would almost certainly see it as being beneath him.

I think you left out one more bad thing from the Moro arc is that was Merus coming back as a mortal.
@@taecampus The moment Merus sacrifice himself just to give Goku that Ultra Instinct boost was one of my favourite bits in the Moro arc plus the sudden death of a important character is hardly shown in DBS due to it being kid friendly. When it reveal that Merus is alive and now a mortal in the end was just pointless and his sacrifice now meant nothing.

For Uub I think he was able to transfer the god ki with the help of the Grand Supreme Kai. He literally has his hands on him and it was his original ki that was sitting inside Uub. A little head canon but it makes sense.
I hated the fact that vegeta got rekted after moro ate 7-3.

Goku not finishing jiren as mui was the best thing, because jiren had to be taught a lesson in trust and teamwork, which is what 17, frieza and goku provided, mui was more like a boss that came and went.
It’s not entirely Piccolo’s fault. It’s the writers fault. Toyotaro completely ignored how much of a smart exposition Piccolo is back in Z and so forth. As a Piccolo fan I was indeed insulted for how they did him like this making my boy an idiot. This is exactly why I rely on fanfiction. I know exactly what to write for Piccolo to say as a fanfic writer. I would definitely fix what Toyotaro wrote for my boy to say.

Thanks so much for bringing these videos back! These Arc focused Top 10’s are some of my favorite videos you guy’s have done. A few of my favorite things from this arc are the focus on the Z-Fighters like Yamcha, Tien, & Chaioutzu (sadly we didn’t get anything from Yajirobe). Also the other prisoners like 73 & Saigonbo were awesome & I love the call backs to the former arcs like seeing Yardrat, New Namek, & even Planet Zoon (Pui Pui’s home planet). Vegeta returned to fight Moro even though his strength hadn’t increased at all but it was his new technique that gave him the upper hand. Meerus and his “final” fight with Moro 73 was awesome (until they brought him back 3 chapters later 🙄). The best part of this arc in my opinion is definitely the fact that the next arc is directly tied to the Moro Arc and is just a continuation of it which is something we haven’t had in Super at all so I’m hyped to see what Granola has to offer to this story.
DBS continuity/writing consistency has been an issue from the beginning... really takes me out of the show tbh
1/10 It should have ended with Gohan standing up and mumbling something like “I will not let you destroy my world” then one shooting Moro and Uub into dust.

As bad as it was, gotta give credit where credit is due, the Uub cameo was pretty cool, and how that most of the Z Fighters including Yamcha and Chiaotzu got their time to shine.
I hate how I the new arc 7.3. they refer moro as a nobody basically a weakling because granola says he was a pawn wtf it took everyone to beat moro.

My only logical explanation is that immortality lasts through reincarnation, and Buu partially has immortal qualities.
Agree w/ every point, but the MUI goku couldn't finish Jiren point. The while goku v jiren conflict was one of ideals and philosophy. Jiren was always alone and could only rely on his own power (until the very end where he got a friendship boost from toppo.) Goku's entire story was that he always had friends to rely on. If he finished jiren off in MUI by himself i think it would've ruined the whole idealogical conflict of someone who was alone that could become the strongest v someone that relied on his comrades even to the end
The one point I strongly agree with is that Moro stopped being interesting after he transformed. Both in appearance and character, where he just turned into Super Buu essentially, instead of actually being an original magic user or sorcerer as he started out, and that just ruined the arc for me. I already wasnt a super big fan of Moro's design or his unoriginal absorption power but his design is just so boring. Its just not a good arc at all. The Moro arc just sucks. Its about as contrived as the anime's Goku Black arc and for some reason people who write Super don't get Toriyama's philosophy on writing.
- Keep it simple, add more as you go on.
- Base your arc on an American movie you like.
- Keep it funny here and there.
- Use characters as plot devices based on their personalities.
I feel like the writers try to hard to rehash stuff from Z without understanding it, or they lack originality and keep recycling moments instead of doing something new. Like with Moro, and with Cell Max.
I’m convinced Goku was going to give Jiren energy when he has him down before MUI wore off
My biggest underlying criticisms of Moro is that his henchmen weren't interesting and he had no real endgame, which made the Earth stuff just feel like a 2nd act and not the climax, or the climax of an okay-at-best story.
That’s why I like GT Goku, he didn’t mess around with his enemies.
The sad thing is, it feels like whoever wrote this learned how to write a story from fuzzy memories of Dragonball Z. They remembered all the worst parts.
In my opinion Akira toryama or the writer got more time as it went on for example the trunks ark he thought if making fused zamasu infect the universe was it needed no and I think it's the same for the moro ark
Its funny because no one ever talk about how these are alternate versions of goku and Vegeta and where in a new timeline.
Thats why none of the characters act the same plus the writers

Goku & Vegeta didn't get any new forms in the Moro arc. Vegeta just learned a new technique and Goku completely mastered his Ultra Instinct power

I suggest you guys check out DragonBall Rage on Facebook. It's far better than this Arc because that story makes more sense and the Writer wrote it in a way to where it can fit into the Canon story
1. Goku remains stupid
2. The Ultra Instinct gotten weaker and he didn't use his 4D speed to blitz Moro.
3. Goku gave Moro a Senzu bean. (What's with the frickin' retcons!)
4. The Z-Fighters are still useless and written to be weak, but Goku save the day.
5. They stand there and doing nothing except shouting and gasping.
6. Goku didn't use Hakai to wipe Moro from existence once and for all.
7. God Ki is inconsistent and they didn't use their universal level power to obliterate Moro.
8. Moro Arc is the exact same thing as Cell Arc. Is Toyotaro running out of ideas or just that goddamn lazy?
9. Beerus and Who's shouldn't be in the chapters at all.
10. Toyotaro made Vegeta weak so Goku would give a shot at victory, again. This shit is getting old.

The one thing that probably makes me the most mad is the shafting of Majin Buu yet again. I've already done multiple rants on all the wasted story potential of majin buu in different discord servers but this arc was probably the most insulting one yet. They literally start off the arc with the GP wanting to awaken the GS kai from inside Buu to help deal with moro, make him far stronger than he had any right to be just to fight moro only for Moro to get his powers back and turn the tables. At that point, they could've went farther with that idea and have GS Buu go meet Uub, teaching the reincarnated majin how to use the god ki the GS kai once had, making the ending feel more earned instead of feeling like a last second asspull. That would've greatly but we didn't get that cause that would mean buu actually getting story development and relevance so they just use the same exact excuse for the 5th time now by putting Buu back to sleep for the rest of the arc until the very end. I'm sick and tired of having hope that my favorite pink blob will actually have story relevance in modern db and they might as well not bother involving him in the story if they aren't gonna do anything with him anyway.
i have to say about the whole gym thing i think it's because that since merus is an angel he can seal the gyms like it's a sacred power or something
because remember when whis told goku what to do even in his MUI form goku said that he doesn't know if he can do it and whis said that he shouldn't worry because he has the power of the gods on his side
When you's said about it being a rehash of other arcs, just gonna say I'm pretty sure that was the whole point of the arc, it was probably supposed to be a summary of all thats happened in dragonball to date, because right after the moro arc comes Granolah and it's a completely original storyline

edit: goku gives his enemies a senzu bean because he wants to give everyone a chance to be someone better. goku is just that kind of guy to do this, and even though it may not be a good idea at the time hes got faith in himself and a perfect example would be vegeta and even piccolo for that matter

My problem with this arc that it just felt like they needed a reason for it to be as long as a Z arc without realizing why those arcs were as long as they were. They reeeeally stretched it out and it didn't feel natural at all. Even Cell and Buu felt more natural. Without the restrictions and redirections of editors, they just made it about getting to the fight with the big bad guy as soon as possible while trying not to give that impression.
Surprised you all didn't complain about the fact Moro exploding bottle-cap style after absorbing angel power and then a planet was only estimated by Whis to potentially reach galaxy level destruction, or the fact Vegeta punched the Earth as hard as he could muster in order to get Moro out of it but couldn't do by so much damage to the ground - thus completely ruining the fanbase's theory of any fighter being universal... Ever. I thought that was gonna be at least one of your two top two.

Perhaps it's similar to what happened with Goku after he attained super Saiyan God. Perhaps Buu's body retained knowledge of the old Supreme Kai's power? And then when Uub came about, he also retained it? I don't know, I'm trying to put a Band-Aid on an open head wound 🤷🏻♂️
The confusion is due to people not being aware or understanding of the philosophical background in media such as this. In the Dragon Ball verse, there is a synthesis of Zen Buddhism, Daoism, Christianity, and Shintoism all around the characters. In this case, when a person dies, they reincarnate such as the case of all mortals. Depending on the karma or bad spirit they obtained in their earthly life, they would either reincarnate again, or reach Nirvana or Tathagata. Those who foolishly cling to the five aggregates in Buddhism will endless reincarnate until they let go of their selfish inclinations.
The reason Uub inherited the Grand Kaios power is one(a writing recon) and 2. Goku specifically asked King Yemma to reincarnate Kid Buu as a good person(presuming that the new reincarnation would have the fighting power of Kid Buu, as Goku demanded).

Goku was always drained of energy when tapping into ui in the tournament of power. It was his bodies last resort. It’s a technique of the gods. So why would uubs energy push him into ui if he doesn’t need any power at all as seen in the tournament? I thought that was a plot hole.

Hard disagree on the idea that UI Goku should've finished off Jiren. At this point an instawin through a powerup is horribly cliche'. It was definitely much more satisfying to watch UI Goku whittle Jiren down to the point where characters who were far below him could work together to finish him off.
Working over a villain with a powerup only works if the villain is sadistic and has offended the audience with their actions; that way it's cathartic to watch the roll reversal of them becoming helpless, like with Freeza.
Watching Jiren get worked over would NOT have been satisfying because Jiren isn't evil, he's a brick wall, and for this reason the satisfaction doesn't come from his suffering, it comes from him finally having a proper struggle.
I had the same issue with Goku not using Teleport to finish Freeza in RoF

Very good points. I Dislike many of the things mention especially the whole senzu fiasco.
Saying that, Moro didnt regenerate the crystals after fighting Merus was because Merus put them a seal. Moro even mention it (CHAPTER 63).
So, thats why with Goku he could since Goku only destroy it. Something, very different than sealing its powers like merus did. Thats why moro could regenerate a whole hand with a crystal after merus cut it since merus didnt seal it at that point, yet.
I heard many people saying, Why didnt Goku teleport to Moro head?
I Think they are getting confuse because of Goku inst. kamehameha vs Cell.
Two complete dif. situation. With cell, goku was able to teleport "Near" cell because the techniques involve putting the user (goku) near the ki he lock into. Like Goku explain to krillin and co.
The huge prob. is that Goku was already in Moro ki place/location. Infact, he was inside of it. Earth!

This is honestly for me the best arc in Super
