Steely Dan is one of the best groups ever!!! Every song can sound completely different and unique....but they have a special sound all their own!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
steely dan consists of two main front members, and every other player is brought in individually to serve the song, depending on what is required for feel and musicality. On each album there will be 2,3 or 4 drummers, guitarist, keys, bass, etc.... This is why they have a unique and distinctive sound/approach with each album/song
The common saying about Steely Dan: "This is your favorite band's favorite band". The only group I know of for which the expression "They never made a bad song" is literally true.
The best words to describe Steely Dan are tight and precise. They make NO mistakes and their music is a variety in itself. Go down this rabbit hole and you won’t be disappointed!
Micheal McDonald was one of the backing singers on this song. He was all over the place in the 70s and early 80s. (As well as front man for the late incarnation of "The Doobie Brothers".
I was 16 years old when this came out. We used to go crazy in our high school here in Sydney, Australia every time it came on the radio. I still love it to this day and I’m so pleased to see your wonderful reaction ❤
I love your many facial expressions when you listen to music!! This is one of the many bands we used to dance to back in the day where every Saturday evening the teenagers in our community would meet down at the "Rec" (recreation center) or high school gym & have dance-offs & try out new dance moves we learned from watching "American Bandstand."
Yes, that was Michael McDonald on the background vocals in Peg. He was still with the Doobie Brothers, and did that with Donald Fagen and Walter Becker for their album Aja. The Steely San rabbit hole is a fabulous dive, with Do It Again, Black Cow, among others.
back up vocals was all he was truly good at, his leads suck and he ruined the Doobie's when he was with them. Just my opinion but Steely Dan was both great and special. R I P Walter Becker.
I have always been a Steely Dan fan, people used to make fun of me for that but as they began to listen and appreciate their music, they know I was just ahead of the curve.
Steely Dan is one of the best bands, producers, songwriters , musicians of all time. My favourite album is Gaucho, it's soooooooo good 👍😁🎵🎵 Aja close second, Can't Buy a Thrill 3rd. They're all awesome! RIP Walter Becker
Don't Sleep on Stealy now... Babylon Sister...Kid Charlemagne...Jack of Speed...Black Cow...Josie...Home at Last...Aja...FM...All as fresh as the Day...and Everyday is a Dan Fine Day ~
Steely Dan's "Peg" originated from a blues riff that Donald Fagen was working on at home in Malibu in 1976. The song's lyrics were inspired by an idea Fagen had about a starlet with starlet fever who ditches her boyfriend on her way to stardom. The song is told from the perspective of the jilted boyfriend at a seedy 1950s photo shoot in Los Angeles.
Steely Dan was a couple of studio musicians that decided to form their own band. The 2 studio musicians names are Donald Fegan ( vocals & piano ) & Walter Becker ( lead guitarist) they formed what I'd call a rock/jazz group with a little R & B into the mix and out came Steely Dan.
Steely Dan is comprised from the best studio musicians in the world. And I do believe every song that they've ever done was amazing. You really should do a lot more steely Dan including a small bit of research into their name which is very funny. As a guitarist my favorite steely Dan songs are . "Do it again" and " reelin the years " because of the AMAZING guitar work. Took me a long time to get closes to the solos in theses song❤
Love this song! Probably my favorite Steely Dan song. :D When Fagen put out a solo record, he created I.G.Y., and that's one of my favorite songs of any I've ever heard. Epic. So glad you loved this song too, Britt! It's a jam!
Britt, you just listened to a band that blew away established musicians. Their sound changed music. Listen to the album Aja. I think that it just might impress you!
Steely Dan is the album/CD, when you're having a Dinner Party for your friends. Playing the music low in the background while having drinks with your friends.
Have you ever heard their song "Haitian Divorce"? It's one of my favorites of theirs. You'll love the story. But the album Aja, was a huge success. The entire album from start to finish is great. I don't know if I could pick a favorite one song, of Steely Dans.
Steely Dan was known for being musical perfectionists. Their records are clean and precise: their album “Aja” is still used by audio experts to test out new speakers. Another good rabbit hole. Check out “Deacon Blues”, “Babylon Sisters”, “FM”, “Hey Nineteen”, or “My Old School”, all great ones. The heart of the band was Walter Becker and Donald Fagan. Everyone else you hear playing are studio musicians, the best of the best. Oh, and the band took their name from an old nickname for *ahem*, a “marital aid”. Not kidding. 😜😝😝
There are too many exceptional songs to list for The Dan! I’m sure if you read all the comments just about every song of theirs will be listed! I do like their classics Rikki Don’t Lose that Number, Black Friday, Aja, Black Cow, FM, Josie, Deacon Blues, Babylon Sisters, just to name a few!
Nothing funkier than a Chuck Rainey bass line. Then add Michael McDonald on backing vocals (singing multiple tracks half tone apart)... Great song as usual from SD.
Among my favorite Steely Dan songs: "Babylon Sisters," "Home at Last," "Jack of Speed," "Pretzel Logic," "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," "Do It Again," and "Razor Boy."
@ Yes, Steely Dan was the name of a dild@ in the novel “Naked Lunch” by W.S. Burroughs. Steam powered and mechanical, no less. Love your reactions, especially when the head phone cushion on top is so adorably off kilter.
@brittreacts I have been on board that love train with you for almost a year now and I love you more age in every video I LOVE YOU MY ONLINE FRIEND AND YES, I WOULD LOVE TO REALLY BE YOUR FRIEND AND TAKE A PHOTO WITH YOU AND HAVE A AUTOGRAPH! ❤️😘💕 🌹🌹 I love the way you’re moving all the way through this song right now. I’m at 2:36 seconds. and I’ve already seen you smiling and you stuck your tongue out twice. I love your facial expressions the way you’re moving. Your voice is sexy and beautiful and your input is why I watch these videos, but I like the music but most of all, it’s all you the facial expressions in your tongue coming out like that makes me wanna hug you and dance with you. I wish you would teach me some dance moves I no you have a lot to do but I dream of you teaching me some moves and my being able to walk up to you and give you a thank you hug and kiss on the face or on the hand or both. I know you’re too busy to read all I have and I do go on, but I don’t mean for it to be so long. God bless you. Right now I have a pause so I can compose this and looks like you’re smiling and your cheekbones are pronounced just beautiful. I’m watching for a second time just to see a move again. Hear your voice.
I think you musta been a choreographer cause u seem to pick up the melody right away, never heard the song b 4 and pick up on the good parts instantly, then you can add parts that aren't there but they sound good like when you will add ur tambourine...did I get it right???
If you loved this one, you need to listen/react to "So Very Hard to Go" by Tower of Power (from 1973). KILLER song! ruclips.net/video/cbyKxiVvpaE/видео.htmlsi=4YL3nDyDm7qU26oi

Glad you got to Steely Dan. You will enjoy anything they do.
I was born in 1970 on June 2nd. I grew up listening to this magic!!! It was, and still is MAGIC!!!
Your statement is the perfect description of Steely Dan : "It's funky!"
You'd like FM, Deacon Blues, Josie, Black Cow, Green Earrings. All very funky.
Night by night is my favorite
Deacon Blues tops my list of Steely Dan songs, although I’ve never understood the meaning of the lyrics, lol.
Love to see some Green Earrings love. Cold, daring...
I was 16 years old when this came out. We used to go crazy in our high school here in Sydney, Australia every time it came on the radio. I still love it to this day and I’m so pleased to see your wonderful reaction ❤
Very cool!
Black Cow, is the Steely Dan track you should watch next, you will love it!

Steely Dan fan here. Always enjoyed their music! 😅
Glad to have you 🤭
Britt, you know we all love you better. One of the smartest, greatest bands ever conceived! Thanks and good health to all!
Steely Dan is one of the best bands, producers, songwriters , musicians of all time. My favourite album is Gaucho, it's soooooooo good 👍😁🎵🎵 Aja close second, Can't Buy a Thrill 3rd. They're all awesome! RIP Walter Becker
Moving and grooving with britt reacts is always a good time
😎😎
I never knew what the name of this song was! It's really well done. Reportedly they worked really hard on their songs, very much perfectionists.
Don't Sleep on Stealy now... Babylon Sister...Kid Charlemagne...Jack of Speed...Black Cow...Josie...Home at Last...Aja...FM...All as fresh as the Day...and Everyday is a Dan Fine Day ~
Black Cow is a super ILL song
That answers that question! I was wondering if you've ever done any Steely Dan! There's so much there to react to ❤
Man! This album, Aja, was a favorite of mine when it came out! Transfered the album to cassette tape and loved playing it on my car cassette player!
All time favorite band ❤

Thats a nice way of putting it 😂
Don’t know how much Stealy Dan but they are incredibly talented

I’ve seen them 6 times. Deacon Blues is awesome
One of my favorite songs of all time from top ten album of all time, too many classics to mention, you could spend a month on them for sure
You better dive head first into that rabbit hole girl!😁👍
Nothing better then music woven out of a about a dozen awesome hooks. Nothing better then Steely Dan!
Great harmonies, beautifully performed for Peg!

The musicians’ band. These guys all started as top notch session men. And it shows. It was ALL about the sound with these guys.

Glad you enjoyed!!!
This is a band you should explore. Jazz,Rock, Soul fusion. Michael McDonald sang backing vocals and play keyboards on 2 albums.
My absolute favorite Steely Dan song reminds me of Vegas for some reason and the good times I always have there weird
Steely Dan didn't compromise on their music or the musicians they used in recordings.
My favorite band of all time❤️
This song is undeniable. You gotta listen to their track Aja!
Steely Dan is a great band ! Never a bad song.
Listen to Deacon Blues 👍
Britt, you just listened to a band that blew away established musicians. Their sound changed music. Listen to the album Aja. I think that it just might impress you!
This song is made to move and groove.
Great reaction and review. As a drummer I feel the need to shout out Richard (Rick) Marotta, session drummer extraordinaire on the skins 👊🏻
Steely Dan is the album/CD, when you're having a Dinner Party for your friends.

the song is from peg"s exs view, peg went to make a " blue" movie overseas.
Michael Macdonald in the background vocals!

🔥
Donald Fagan projecting his vocals 45 years into the future to answer your question "Is her name...Peg." Great video. Love the Dan.
Now check out FM. Classic Steely Dan!!!
Another 🔥 reaction
I’m sure if not already stated by someone, “Kid Charlemagne “ should be your next reaction.
You really need to watch here come the mummies. You can find quite a few of their performances live on the Bob and Tom show. Those guys are good
I want to see if the bottom half moves like the top half!😄
Michael McDonald, of Doobie Brothers fame, wailing off in the background! Love it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hi Britt - this song is the definition of "yacht rock", IMO...
Steely Dan's musicianship is... um, just off the proverbial chain. Funky jazz-rock, I reckon... cheers!
Michael McDonald on backing vocals.
More SD. You're on your way to a rabbit hole.
Steely Dan was on my bucket list of bands, but I waited to long. I wonder Brit knows what a Steely Dan is.
Black Cow is a jam
FM No Static at All (about the birth of FM radio and its obvious advantages over AM radio)... Hope you enjoy it.
❤
Is there a song in the 70s that Michael McDonald didn't sing back up on? Once you notice it, it completely takes over the chorus.
I knew you would love it. Go ahead and do Josie next. You know you want to!
Among my favorite Steely Dan songs: "Babylon Sisters," "Home at Last," "Jack of Speed," "Pretzel Logic," "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," "Do It Again," and "Razor Boy."
Micheal McDonald does the background..the “peg “ .. almost sounds like a keyboard
Michael was singing backup
TRY BLACK FRIDAY NEXT
Some people have tried to put Steely Dan into the nonsense genre of “Yacht Rock”. The truth is that they’re in a category all of their own.
Black cow
Steely Dan didn't write songs, they made productions.
I can imagine there might be misconceptions about a song called “Peg” from a band named after a sex toy…until you listen to the lyrics😂
Wait wait wait WHAT 😅

Girl, if you like that, check out 'My Old School' by Steely Dan, and don't even look into where they got their name.
Added!
5:22 Come on! That little Tid-Bit of 70s era lore might be fun. I mean it IS a reaction video after all!
