Super helpful review, you don't find a lot of DIYer reviews for this tool but the perspective from someone who hates drwyall is great for me

    Nice straight forward video.
From a diy standpoint this sander is out of reach for the majority of users, as you mentioned.
But if they can justify it they will likely love it.
I have the original (now discontinued) Planex and it is a beast that will grind through just about anything, but it isn't imo a great finish sander. I had planned on ordering the Mirka Leros to replace it, but then saw the Planex 2 was about to be released for the USA market. I decided to preorder it. It's a great finish sander and I attribute it to much like the Leros, it is a random orbital. Originally I thought if it sucks (not in a good way) I'd return it and follow through with the Leros. Over two years and many jobs later I still think it's a great finish sander.
If you still have more drywall projects to complete I'd suggest replacing the pad with the soft pad because it makes for an even better finish with bucket and box muds.
Your shop vac did a good job keeping up with the sander. I typically run the 36 AC with it, but I have at times just used the 26L out of laziness of not wanting to transport or swap vacs on smaller in and out jobs.

My husband and I just bought a house that has knockdown texture on the ceilings and orange peel on the walls. After moving around and outside the US I've found that I can't stand textured walls or ceilings. I'd pay a professional to remove the texture, but it's a 3300 sqft house, and I know that would cost a crazy amount of money since I saw the going rate is $1.25 up to $2.00 per sqft. I'm not working right now, and have always been very handy. I've talked about this on other videos and professionals have talked me out of trying to do this, but my husband loves the extractor and tools in general, so he's willing to give me a shot. My question is there are at least 3 rooms that have semi-gloss paint on the walls. I read that you can't skim coat walls with that kind of paint, but I also read that the Festool won't sand paint off. Are those two "facts" true, and if so, what do I do with the semi-gloss walls? I don't care if I have to go through a lot of the sanding pads, but if they're going to gum up after just a few sqft that's not really an option. Am I going to need to paint the walls with a flat paint and then skim coat them to get them to be smooth?

you made a mistake. If you tried Leros (currently also in the Hilti version) you would quickly return Planex 2, which is one big disappointment and usually receives very negative opinions.

What shop vac are you using to connect to it?

Just a generic 6 gallon shop-vac with a drywall bag nothing fancy.
