Goodluck.
I have recently purchased the mirka through my local Sherwin Williams rep. It must be the updated model because it has the additional fixing points on the pad protector. So if I had to make the choice again between the mirka or the hilti, I would go with the mirka and buy either a lighting mod, or extra abrasives with the savings.
Keep up the awesome content, between you and Bob Seguin you are leading the way in demonstrating all aspects of these great drywall sanders.
Just want to throw something at you. There are Hilti stores, reps, and excellent customer service whereas Mirka doesn't have any of those things. The Mirka rep in my area couldn't even find me a local distributor to special order the lerros. This sales rep was all talk and completely drop the ball never heard from him again. In the first 20 seconds of talking to him I told him I'm ready to buy, I need you to facilitate the purchase. The rep told me he wanted to barbecue and give me a bunch of free abrasive pads. And then completely fell off the face of the Earth. That said, my Hilti rep holds it down and so does the company. one more thing it's worth buying the hilty over the Mirka because of the hilty warranty alone. Look into it
I should be getting a commission.........lol
Thanks for very detailed review. Lighting modification seems cool.
Will you put a review of the hilti dust extractor?
Yea this is pretty much a tipping point to vac sanders. I've been using the older festool and all these have HUGE upgrades. Between fes and hilti, I go with hilti for the warranty. Can't go with wrong with all 3 tho.
Yup its all about preference all 3 should last year's.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such information and thoughts about those tools, I truly appreciate it!!!
Can you also add a link for that light you add on the mirka sander??? That could be wonderful.
Thank you!!!

Incredible $2k and they couldn’t give you
a built in light
Thanks for the review bro. I think I will be going for the Hilti sander and vacuum since there’s a store like 5min away from me. Even though I just need the vacuum I do want the sander for those ceiling. I’m tired of of the sander sometimes digging to much when trying to have it straight.
Thanks for watching brother no problem
That one day repair is a little misleading because it doesn't include the time to ship it both ways. I talked to the rep and he said it's more like a week. So I'm not sure if it's worth it to pay more for the Hilti vs the Mirka, especially now that the Mirka has all of the updates that the Hilti has.
great video, very helpful, thank you!
Hilti sander hose to festool dust extractor. Is the hilti hose a direct fit to the festool dust extractor or do you use a hose adapter to fit the festool dust extractor?
Mirka Needs to up their game with a yellow storage bag.
How does it perform right against edges? Makita has a swivel head with rollers for hitting edges. Would you say that one feature is better? How would you rate the makita overall?
I have plenty of drywall ahead of me but I’m not a pro. If the makita doesn’t fight you on ceilings and overall, then The cost savings plus battery capability could be worth it.
Thoughts?
Are you satisfied with the vacuum? Does it still create dust?
I have walls with a similar finish to the walls on the video at 8:40. Will these tools remove that finish?
Also….the porter cable is the only brand I’m seeing available for rental near me. Is it able to tackle the job? I have 1500 sq ft to do.
Hello, what kind of light is this, at Hilti have they retrofitted it?
Do you have a link or video for your light mod? Great review too, I’ll be going the Hilti route.
I'll make one later today for you guys.
Abranet sanding discs are super expensive now. Prices have almost doubled in a year
Ya I been using the joest more and more. It can handle going right over the light boxes most of the time and last a bit longer.
I wandering if you notice any finish quality issues with the planex2? We have a brand new system, got the interface pad as well. I notice that the leading edge of the sanding surface flairs in and leaves slight sanding grooves or ruts. Very noticeable with the heads light. Thoughts?
Hey there!!!
Just want to say I love your videos keep them coming.
I’m looking into investing into a drywall sander
I want one that can handle stucco and popcorn removal. What is ur recommendation
Also how do u find the dewalt sander
The new festool will be the best fit for that.
Thanks for the reviews. Just a comment on Hilti here in canada, at least where I live. There is no shop or store, only a sales rep, so not so sure how warranty would work here. Hard to understand why your having problem with your mirka pad, on mine I find it almost difficult to remove, and I never get zapped. Thanks for light mod, I'm going to get a 3d clip to hold the battery, will look like it's made for the mirka.......thanks again.
Hilti store on Douglas St in Victoria
@@user-cf1se1kk5x haha....sticki g to my mirka.....
Did you already make the video on how to make your mod light
I made a pervious one but I'll put together a new one just for this one.
Just got mine today in the mail bro!!!
Congrats What did you end up buying?
The Hilti, extra extension, Hilti extractor, and I bought the cob light you recommended.
My area rep is pretty cool. But he didn't even know anything about the sander.
The warranty made my decision too.
Pretty much as soon as I realized the Mirka came in Hilti color, it was an automatic purchase.
Thanks for the review, my ??? Is ... I do alot of texture removal witch one has the most power for heavy cutting of textures?
The festool 2
The Makita is the most powerful And close to the Porter cable but leaves a better looking finish with less swirls. The Festool can’t keep up with those monsters IMO I own all these sanders and they each have different strengths and weaknesses..
So........did u keep the festool???
Aloha, thanks for the video. May I ask about led strip... Does it come with usb cable attached or do You mount in Yourself ?? If You attach it, could You please give some tips which cables should go where? All strips I can find, they only come in spools ready for soldering and stuff . 0 usb endings.
creative-solutions-drywall-products.myshopify.com/?_ab=0&_fd=0&_sc=1. Send me a message the sander comes with a led strip. I can send you a link to just the led if you want.
Hey Memo. Good videos for these sanders. Quick question, is the Hilti hose compatible with the Mirka dust extractor? I'm not sure if you have a Mirka extractor cus I've seen u use it with your DeWalt only. I guess you could tell by comparing both hoses (Hilti and Mirka). Are they identical as the sanders are?
Yup there are pretty much the same sander different color.
Thx for great video, witch one you will choose for popcorn ceiling removal ?
Feestool would be best out of the 3 mentioned above. 🤙🏽
@@csdrywallhawaii
Thx for reply i got feestool yesterday and i tried sand final coat and sander left lines on ceiling. what im doing wrong ?
I just have time to tried for 10 minutes. Today all day sanding skim coat.
Thx again
Use a joist sanding paper 180 grit the one feestool has is to aggressive with a soft pad attachment
@@csdrywallhawaii Thx fot tip unfortunately i return already. My 150 $ drywall sander with built light did whey better job lol. Maybe i purchase one more time and tried with Joest disk.
I was just getting ready to get the Planex easy bundle or a Leros. No Planex for me. Hilti is minutes away. 20 years is wild, I’m presuming they will have parts that long? Typically they guarantee 10 years

I'm debating between the hilti and festool, does the suction of the festool not make it feel lighter when sanding?
I would reach out to both separate reps and see if you could sample to see what works best. The suction is great on the festool but if you dail it all the way and stay a sec to much it's bye bye finish . Still heavier and a bit more uncomfortable for ceilings then Mirka. The festool is good if you plan on using it to remove popcorn as well. Then since it serves a dual purpose you can over look the fact that it's a bit heavier and the headmovement not as good.
@@csdrywallhawaii thanks alot for the reply 👍 makes perfect sense.
Does festool sander realy sticks on the ceilings. I have a mirka sander but i thinking to buy a festool too if it makes more easily ceiling sander
The Mirka is the easiest ceilling sander for fine finish for aggressive sanding (popcorn removal) etc the festool is superior
Nice review,
Considering this video is about 2 years ago, which sander would you recommend?
We use the festool the most now with the soft pad adapter.
I’ve been having a hard time deciding wether to go with the Hilti or the festool. I went with the hilti, along with the 8 gallon vac from Home Depot ($2700), as it was cheaper than hilti kapolei. Now that I read your comment, I’m wondering if I should return it and get the festool.
Is the festool compatible with the hilti 8 gallon vac? Also, how have yours been holding up, and do you still use the plastic bags or do you use the fleece?
@@bronsona8085you chose the best equipment. The second generation Festool is a total failure.
Nice mod.
I just bought the Mirka system, where do you get the bags and filter for the vac?
I got them form csr building supplies.
@@csdrywallhawaii thank you
What grid do you recommend to sand level 4 with the DeWalt drywall sander?
180 joest paded.
U got a link for the light setup so I can purchase? Cheers

Here the instructions link in bio brother
How are your Mirka and Hilti Sanders holding up? And are they able to use any other sandpaper?
I've been using the Porter Cable sander for around 15ish years and just keep repairing it whenever anything breaks.
Iam doing an update video.
For the mirka sander what sand disc u recommend mirkas brand or joest?
I prefer the joest
Is there a difference in power between the hilti and mirka ?
Hilti says 250w and mirka says 350w input
I haven't notice it pretty much feels like the same solid tool just different color
That's what I was thinking . Can you confirm the motors are different power? Because more power is usually better in my opinion.
@@cptdevildriver7465mirka makes the hilti. It's literally the same other then color.
What about the dewalt sander where does it fit in amongst these 3?
We love it for brushing down since the head is not a random orbital it tends to gouge more so don't use it on the finish.
It doesn't. These are a whole different class of sanders.
how is the festool on popcorn ceiling
The best out of the 3
best is ?
mirka/hilti - it is the same
What kind of light did you put around your hilti sander
ruclips.net/video/CxnRXPWFU3g/видео.html
What grit sandpaper should I use for the festool planex 2? And use sponge or paper?
I feel the 180 joist does great can't get as good suction but leaves a nicer finish.
👍🏽👍🏽
If you wanna ever sell the mirka let me know lol
What do you think about the Makita drywall sander compared to the dewalt?
When I sampled it, felt heavier and ultimately went with dewalt because of all the batteries we already have but if you have the Makita platform should get the job done the same.
Alguien en español?
Planex it is, the other look cheap as fuk
