You are a GOD my friend every video I watch if yours gives me so much information, I have been waiting to buy a sander and which one to buy, God bless you, and thank you for keeping all of us in the drywall community informed!!!!🔥💯💪
Thanks for the time and thought you put into your vids boss 🙌 I finally strapped the head of my DWS 225 with the COB lighting you recommended and it was (almost exactly) long enough to wrap around twice so I didn't trim it - we'll see what kind of abuse she'll take tomorrow 😄
Thanks for the initial review. I have read somewhere that Mirka makes this sander for Hllti. I currently use the Flex Giraffe vacuum sander combo. I’m looking forward to your final review.
So, its obviously just a red mirka rebadged for Hilti but the bag looks way nicer than the Mirka for sure, Which is a big plus. However, it also looks like its an option and costs an extra. Not sure how I feel about spending more money on a case after just shelling out $1300 for the tool. You are right about convenience I have a hilti store 30 minutes away which makes it nice for warranty and service which would probably make the exrta 170 bucks for the sander worth it but then there's the bag. Just FYI hilti sells that backing pad #2312472 If you want to update the yellow unit. The vac also looks nice but there are a few things that stick out that kind of look annoying. There is no cord wrap or hose storage and it doesnt look like it is a hepa unit. It looks like you can upgrade to a hepa filter (extra of course) but that only means the filter is Hepa I saw no mention of the unit being sealed or hepa. I just bought a CT36 AC a couple weeks ago and have to say the cord wrap and hose garage on top are a must have. I was originally deciding between the Makita vc4012l and the festool. I went with the festool just because of the cord/hose storage. The ability to tuck everything away securely in one compact unit plus stack other stuff on top and transport or store is big deal for me. Might seem stupid to some but I have had vacs before without and always hated dealing with the cord and hose while transporting or storing. For those asking price in the continental US sander $1299 bag $129 vac $849 via the Hilti website.
Great points luckily I was able to get everything for just under 2k which made it worth the investment. My rep mentioned that I could probably get a deeper discount in a couple months since it won't be new. Worth exploring 🤙🏽
Can you do a side by side comparison between Mirka and the Hilti, including the specs. I would like to see which one is worth it if I'm going to buy one. Thanks!
Love and appreciate the videos. Definitely some of the most useful and best online. I just ordered a Festool Planex 2 and a Hilti VC150-6XE. I got the Hilti vac instead of the Festool vac due to it's small size. I was wondering if you were using an adaptor to connect the Festool Planex 2 to the Hilti VC150 you have and if so which one. Thanks so much for all the help you put out there for us.
@@csdrywallhawaii Thanks :) Do you mean that the hose that comes with the Hilti Vac will work with the Festool Planex 2 - or is there an extra adapter that I need to pick up. Thanks again for all the help and have a great day!
@@buddyfuda6261how’s this combo been working for you? I actually have been looking at getting this exact same combo, mainly because of the size of the hilti since I do a lot of patch work in finished houses where dust collection is important and I like to be in and out asap
If I can ask you a question? Out of all the drywall sander and vacuum systems that you've tested out over the years, which one would you use if you had to only choose one for the rest of your life to use? We've been using the Porter Cable drywall sander and vacuum for over 15 years (before I started with the company). It's the only system I've ever used. It works pretty good but it's now-discontinued and I can't get parts for it anymore. Lately we've been getting jobs that require level 5. I was thinking about going the safe route and purchasing the DeWalt electric drywall sander and vacuum system( not the battery operated) because it's basically what were used to. Thank you.
Does the Festool 225 Granat fit on the sander with the hole patterns? Is it mandatory to run the vacuum or whose the vac suction cool the brushless motor? I’m glad I subscribed. I knew nothing about the Hilti DWS 225? It looks good, sounds good performs well. Festool is bundling there Planex, but I’m going to definitely look at the Hilti. After using it for a while how would you rank the three? Festool, Mirka, Hilti? Hilti - Mirka Festool?
Hilti and Mirka are identical with hilti having better support in my area. Festool is also great but a bit more aggressive so if you need it to knock down heavier finishes it's prefect.
@@csdrywallhawaii I was thinking of using my Festool Rotex RO-150 with 40-60 grit as a first pass (step) in removal. Then once most of the popcorn 🍿 is removed I can follow up with the Hilti DWS 225 with 80 grit? The Festool and Hilti are pretty close in ability. Hilti store is 12 minutes away, so I’m skipping Festool this time. If the comparison was between Mirka and Festool I would go festool. Now Hilti is in the ring 🥊 Festool needs to look over there 👉 shoulder.

Hilti wants 150 . Feestool has better inside with the foam protection for the head but the zippers broke on mine. Hiltis bag looks like it's going to last longer.
How did the jost paper work ? I tried it but it ended up vibrating off and leaving little balls of fuzz all over the backing pad . I had to replace the pad
