- All at 19, Ishaan Ghosh stands out as one of the front ranking Tabla players in the younger generation of India’s Classical Music scene.
Since the age of 8, Ishaan has presented traditional Indian music at prestigious venues in Switzerland, France, Spain, UK and Mexico among other countries. His dynamic Tabla Solos have received wide appreciation from musicians and connoisseurs alike. He was conferred the ‘Baba Allauddin Khan Yuva Puraskar’ by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, India in 2012.
Ishaan Ghosh, took us on an incredible journey that telling us the story of his
relationship with the tabla right from his childhood. He beautifully explained the history of Indian
music and the evolution of the tabla. He demonstrated the thumri and khayaal, as well as the six different styles of tabla playing. He left young artists inspired to build their own identity, to keep exploring and to always remain seekers. His representation of traditional compositions with modern interpretations left the audience spellbound.
All of 19, Ishaan Ghosh stands out as one of the front-ranking Tabla players in the younger generation of India’s Classical Music scene. He is the grandson of one of the most acclaimed Tabla Maestros of the 20th century, Late ‘Padmabhushan’ Nikhil Ghosh and the son and disciple of the internationally renowned Tabla and Sitar stalwart Nayan Ghosh.
Since the age of 8, Ishaan has presented traditional Indian music at prestigious venues in Switzerland, France, Spain, UK and Mexico among other countries.
His dynamic Tabla Solos have received wide appreciation from musicians and connoisseurs alike. Besides accompanying his father’s sitar concerts, he has also performed with landmark figures in the field of Indian Classical Music like ‘Sangeet Martand’ Pt. Jasraj, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Padmabhushan Pt Buddhadev Dasgupta, Ustad Aashish Khan, Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, violin legend Dr. N Rajam, Rakesh Chaurasia & Purbayan Chatterjee, among several other prominent artistes. I’m actually a little disappointed. I was hoping to hear more about Ishaan’s own personal journey of tabla, starting out at such a young age, learning from a great master like Pt Nayan Ghosh ... etc.
Expected something similar...But the final performance made me satisfied
you are right. title is misleading. however, this is video is highly edited and cut. He actually did talk about this journey, but they cut all the parts out.
