- We take you on a walk around of our Adventure Boat Build. We started with a production Zodiac Futura Mark III and added the things we needed to explore remote and abandoned places. The adventure boat build is a work in progress and your ideas are welcome.
We encourage our viewers to share their thoughts and ideas. Comment below.
Check out the checklist and items mentioned in our video on our website at - www.restless-viking.com/2020/0...
Quite nice set-up, with plenty of safety redundancy in mind! As a secondary means of propulsion I would recommend a small auxiliary outboard, completely independent, with an extension bracket at the back. Two-stroke would be much lighter but you'll have to carry a small canister of fuel & oil pre-mix - saved my boat and maybe my life twice in the past going slowly against the wind and tide in New Zealand, just enough to allow for damage control.
Thanks for your video. I just bought this exact one, with the same console and seating. I got a 50hp suzuki for mine. Can't wait for delivery
Excellent! Are on the coasts or great lakes? It is a great boat. The 60hp is overkill. 50 hp is all you need.
@@RestlessViking No Great Lakes here but pretty big Lake for Georgia. About an hour north of Atlanta. Believe it or not it's a challenging lake to get around in, with a smaller boat, because it's so crowded, with the larger boats. ( I'm following you on Facebook as well😎👍)

700 miles of shoreline! That’s a big lake for sure.
@@RestlessViking hey man I've got my Zodiac ready. Check it out ruclips.net/video/Xp1QUmqFxf4/видео.html
Thanks
The Festiva would pull that. I used to pull a 16 foot Hobie cat with my Festiva, which I believe weighed about the same.
Great video thumbs up John , here in Puerto Rico the navigation rules are that u need a2 way propulsion options, so we have aengine and also a set of paddles 🤷🏻♂️🇵🇷
We have paddles too. But, they aren't very useful for anything more than a quarter of a mile and calm wind.
Nice boat
But the bombard commando with rigid keel
Is better on water
Enjoy your navigation days
Good video
Small electric trolling motor for backup? I’m planning on getting one for my 25’ Cuddy cabin that only has a single I/O unit. I also have a solar panel backup to charge my batteries.
Great video! With your one way stoppers, do you still put the main plugs in or do you only utilize these stoppers when you are trying to get water out by removing the plugs and getting up in plane?
I usually just leave them out. However, they will begin to leak one day (after a few years - if fact, I just replaced them because one started leaking). When they do start leaking, then I put the plugs in when docked, anchored, etc.
Two words: Over Kill
60hp? Man that thing must fly
Unfortunately with a soft bottom, it’s kind of like pushing a ballon, pretty slow. But, plenty of power for rough seas and storms.
Yeah. I would recommend getting a back up propeller with tools. I very recently just destroyed my propeller out on North Manitou island and had to get towed. Sad day
Carter I thought the same they can fly with that such powerful engine
Not sure if anyone is still following this video post, but I am curious what you have calculated for MPG or Hours Per Gallon from that 60hp Yamaha. Thanks in advance.
It depends on conditions, but in good seas, about 4-5 mpg.
@@RestlessViking Thanks RV! In a few weeks I'm getting a MK111 with a 60hp Yamaha on it. I will be using a 24 gallon fuel tank to putter around bays and near shore here in Oregon.
@@jerryhauth2946 It gets great gas mileage around 30-35 RPM. I've never calculated GPH as speed varies greatly with conditions. It is a great boat and will be even better on the ocean. I have two 6 gallon tanks and have traveled at least 70 miles with plenty to spare. My old 2 cycle 30 hp would have gotten about 2 mpg.
@@RestlessViking Thanks again RV! Am I correct in thinking that the Mark III is PVC and NOT Hypalon?
@@jerryhauth2946 Yes sir, my Mark III is. I know zodiac made some Hypalon Mark models, but I think those were just Mark I's. Doesn't Zodiac call it "Strongan" PVC or something like that?
Would you happen to know of a site for that "tower bar"? I can't find it. Thanks
I think they call it a roll bar. I got it from Atlantic Towers. I think I had to call because it wasn't listed on their site. www.atlantictowers.com/
They are under the section "First Responder and Commercial Duty". www.atlantictowers.com/products_tiab_first_responders.php
Hi I recently got a 16 footer I’m looking for the console setup where can I purchase one
This console is directly from Zodiac, we got ours through a Zodiac dealer in Michigan.
Does zodiac sell the console?
Yes they do. Dealers can be hard to find though. That is a standard console. It is quite low in the Futura, so it was lifted about 3.5 inches on Thor.
@@RestlessViking 3,5 inches enough for a standing driving position? I was thinking the same thing, for a Bombard Commando
@@jcBurton2094 Kind of (Barely). . . It is at the lowest extent of my arms (6 ft tall). When I stand, I tend to be a little hunched over. I can stand straight and steer, but if I turn hard, I have to hunch over. At 3.5 inches, it does raise it far above the legs. Otherwise, my knees would be high enough to interfere with steering. It is much more comfortable at that height.
