And then there was one left. Steve Priest passes away on 4th of June....Steve was something we will miss a lot. He made the band hilarious and funny...He had the right attitude to make music. As music never should be so serious thing....Music is drama and everybody needs to have it, cos it makes us to live and get well and Sweet really did it and still do, to make us happy and give us more energy.

This was on Ch 7 in Sydney, on Saturday mornings. Show was called Sounds, then Sounds Unlimited. The 80's...what a time to be in your teens. We had the best.
Other way around it started as sounds unlimited in 1974 then later changed to sounds.
I know Brian has Passed, but....Mick too?....didn't hear that? when? and.....How? jeez...all this just clearly exemplifies 'how damn far down the timeline we really are'...from the mid-70's...when i was in my mid-teens, and we were all listening to this wonderful Music. bums me out..... every one is dead now. Bowies recent passing ( along with dozens of others in fact...) really hammers this point home; we're getting old (er)

I think I remember a tv documentary about them trying to relaunch The Sweet.
They tried a reunion in 88 which never got underway then again 90 when as you mentioned there was a documentary and I think a photoshoot etc but Brian's heath (not all his fault) was a factor in them not regrouping as the 4some we all know

I remember watching that program sounds unlimited just arriving in Australia late 70s ,saturday morning !!......I miss soo much that time !!...but I was fortunate enough to have came to this country just when so many talented musicians put out their art on radio and TV . and enjoy so unforgettable music !!
Brian was Sweet. And I agree why he left. Going from rock hits Little Willy, Blockbuster and Wig Wam Bam to Love is like Oxygen that sounded like a watered down version of what they are all about!!! great song but not very heavy compared to their other great songs. Why change? Imagine if AC/DC did that?! Anyway love their early 70’s music and still play it today.
Its called progression. Ac/dc just change the lyrics to the same music so there for playing it safe and yeah sweet could have done that too and remained popular but they chose to progress like the beatles, led zepellin etc for their own satisfaction even if it means taking a pay cut. P.S brian never left because of any of what you said.

No. He disliked that Brian drank so much he often couldn't perform. If you're in a band in which one of the members can't function half the time, you drop them. "Nothing personal", meaning they weren't going to diss him for his disease.
Brian had serious Alcohol problems and was apparently getting drunk and sluring words on stage... i think from memory he turned up for a TV appearance so drunk that they didn't let him on.... and soon after that he left the band

brian wasnt the sweet he was one of 4 guys from the classic line up according to manager dave walker steve mick and andy wanted brian out the band so mutch they mixed cut above the rest in a key he couldnt sing in and he left the band that was in a uk paper in 1996

They wanted him to leave ? They did not want to help him ... drinking too much ... almost has a reason ... maybe ... he was not hard enough to be a RockStar anymore ... and to be Sweet on and on ... without really beeing SWEET anymore after the Success ... means to me ... they all regret it ... but we have to think ABOUT : Time changed a lot ... maybe it simply was over ... than ... my strong BELIEVE ... Brian was too kind ... to be a real "Rocker" ... it is just my BELIEVE ... i did not know him ... but i took a look on his horoscop ...

His addiction started after the attack , Brian probably got insecure with his voice and got depressive. I don't know how the other members didn't notice it...
An addict has to WANT the help. Some do not. This coming from one that is 12 years sober after 35+ years of running away from myself. Sometimes one can’t let go of the pain from the past and they let that control their being.
I do not believe that story for one minute about mixing key so Brian could not sing it .
Interviewer: "So why did Brian leave the band?" Andy: hem haws around and never really gives an answer. Mick: squirms, tries to give a general, non-committal answer, but is clearly telling a cover story.
In an interview with just Brian Connolly he said he "never got on with Andy Scott from day one".
@@redblade43 they weren't great friends!, but it was Connolly's alcoholism and substance abuse that was the cause of him having to come off the road - I've read reports of him being totally out of it onstage - when the hits dried up and they weren't pulling the crowds anymore I don't think he adjusted
Agreed. I think Andy was jealous that Brian was viewed as the leader and frontman of Sweet, and he didn't get the same amount of hype that Brian did.

Brian WAS the Sweet and Andy Scott made his life a misery. The group went to shit after that.
Poor Brian had a drinking problem - I doubt his drinking had anything to do with Andy.
They all are GREAT and extremely talented. Brian was INCREDIBLE and an EXCELLENT lead singer. I think everyone in the band probably lived the "rock star" lifestyle and drank and used drugs for a time. I just don't believe Brian was the only person in the band who may have had an addiction issue. I admire and love Steve Priest who stood by his friend Brian until Brian's passing. R.I.P. Brian and Mick.

@@brianhammer5107 I agree Brian was in distress and not knowing how to heal in all ways especially after being brutally beaten one night and having a group gang up on him and try to kick his throat hoping to ruin his career. Steve said it was an inside job. Brian's confidence was shaken. I also believe he was trying to heal from learning he had been adopted. I feel he was extremely talented. He made me take a second look and listen to Sweet. I liked all of them. I loved Brian and Steve. Just my thoughts.

I love Sweet, but you gotta admit they were never good at dressing themselves. Always trying to dress trendy has its drawbacks. Great band though. Mick is one of the best drummers no one has heard of.
Andy Scott eventually made a career out of being a mitchelon man impersonator
