This is a very interesting interview with some new things we've never heard (I think). So glad Andy is still around to tell all these stories and to keep the music alive.
To name the first guitar player in Sweet it was Gorden Fairminer. He stayed in for about 3 weeks. The 2nd was Frank Thophy, he was in for about 6 months he was followed up Mick Steward. Mick Steward even wrote some songs which were recorded on the B-side. Allthough those first 3 singles wasn't the band that play on the A-side Such as "Slow Motion", LolliPop Man" and "All you ever get From Me" but they had a bit off radio succes, Mick Steward left. Then Andy Scott steped in. And to use Andy's words, the rest is history.
Andy surely knows his history, people and places. Incredible recall of events some 50 years ago. Someone with his knowledge and respect for rock music should take over as CEO of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
I can't imagine Ronnie Dio singing "Ballroom Blitz" or "Fox on the Run."
Sweet , Great band. I love to hear Andy Scott talk. Extraordinary high vocal range he had. Amazing. Many people do not realize how influential Sweet was on other rockbands !
Thanks for featuring Andy Scott and his reminisces of Sweet. We'd love to hear some more personal stories about Brian and Mick who both died way too young.
Sweet were my favourite band in my teens and as they got a little more prog it intoduced my ears to Yes, Rush and even Jeff Beck. Set Me Free is still, as I see it, the dawn of proper British metal.
Another great part to the interview.
Would’ve loved to hear Ronnie tackle “wig wam bam” or “funny funny” ! That would be interesting 😂
As always, excellent interview, very enjoyable and again thank you for sharing with us your time with Andy Scott of the Sweet, one of my favorite groups of all time ! Foggy 🤯
Love Sweet!
Great interview
Amazing segment. I grew up listening to lots of Sweet music including the deep tracks, I still do. I had no idea about Ronnie James Dio potentially replacing Brian. I think the band made the correct decision in not pursuing that direction. It would have been interesting however Dio was too associated with early Rainbow and ELF.
Man.... I REALLY like listening to Andy. He is obviously a real and true gentleman in the best sense of the word. Believe me, it is difficult to not talk shit about past members of a band, or other people you may have worked with.
Brian, all time the best💓💓💓💓💓
Absofrigginlutely love this interview...can't wait for more!!
Imagine Ronnie singing Set me free or Into the night! We can only dream about this!
Love these stories, thx
Really enjoying your Andy Scott interview series...
