I think Brian is showing a lot of class and taking this in a good-natured manner, He's a gentleman and it shows (even though he's obviously affected by the drinking already).
These comments warm my heart, I thought Brian was showing true class throughout, and indeed, this would have been a fantastically interesting and hilarious interview if different, respectful grown ups had been doing the interview instead!

Brian Connely was one of the greatest performers who happened to have a problem with Alcohol...Rest In Peace Brian...You will be remembered by those who accepted you for who you were...
I would not wish alcoholism on anybody, and it far to simplistic to say it is a self-imposed situation, but even though Brian is shaking, and stuttering occasionally due to the effects of his condition, he makes far more sense than these two 'cheap laugh' morons. Who are they? Will anyone outside their immediate circle ever care about them? Like many a 14 year old, I wanted to play electric guitar, and Sweet, Slade, T-Rex, The Beatles, were my heroes. I got that electric guitar and finally managed to pound out the 'Turn-It-Down' main riff, but I couldn't sing/shout the lyrics the way Connolly could. That was over 42 years ago, but Sweet still make the hairs on the back of my neck go up when I hear them. Especially their B sides. I have already forgotten the two morons on this clip though. RIP Brian and Mick. It was a blast!
@peter reeves mick tucker was one of the greatest drummers of the glam era, possibly THE greatest, anyone who has had to play in a sweet cover band knows that, and you're right, lovely guy and very humble.
7 years late so you may not see this this but yes you're right, Sweet were a serious rock band and Brian's vocal range was astonishing, in fact I'll go as far as to say that he was right up there with Robert plant!
I know know I'm late to the discussion , but I just saw this and nearly cried. The Sweet were MY band when I was a kid. The first single I ever bought was " Action " ( I was about 10 and begged my mum to buy it for me ) even though I loved so many songs before. The smug little shit of an interviewer makes my blood boil. Poor Brian. Wish I could give him a hug.
@@tomblack6965 What an arrogant little shit without an ounce of talent and no fashion sense, trying to humiliate a talented gentleman who is too polite to put the little arsehole in his place.
Yeah they might be still alive, but who gives a flying fuck about a talentless pair of piss taking imbeciles. People like Brian Connolly, Keith Moon,Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie,John Bonham, John Lennon ect with go down in musical history. These two morons have gone down like a lead balloon and disappeared without trace. People who are sarcastic and condescending towards others are generally jealous of their accomplishments.
I'm a younger music fan,I've heard of the Sweet,I know who Brian Connolly is,great music, great front man,I haven't a clue who this interviewer is or the other guy, never heard of them.
Shame on those two zeroes who mocked such a nice and humble guy. Brian definitely had more class in his little finger than both of the twats who, unsuccessfully (I might add), tried to humiliate Brian for no reason. Like the other message stated, Brian will be long remembered for accomplishing something in his life that the other two couldn’t come close to.
What a sad interviewer - what a creep Mike Brown is. I hope he has sunk without trace. I was never a fan of the Sweet - but they will be remembered FAR longer than that creepy little sad interviewer

Brian got into alcohol primarily after a vicious assault where his vocal chords were badly injured,he didn't get the help to cope as a victim of crime that he needed and struggled on finding solice in alcohol. He was brilliant but was so hampered in his prime and never fully recovered, I think he probably would have continued at the top much longer otherwise
That Pub/vocal incident did of course hamper his ability to perform and record for 4 vital months, so much is true. But his voice recovered fully from that. Just listen to The Lies in your Eyes, Love is like oxygen or his first solo-work; he sounded just fine then; awesome range! What caused him to become a heavy drinker? We still don't know for sure. In interviews he, himself, said that the tensions, within the band, about the musical direction from 1976 onwards wore him out. not in the least vocally, because the band wrote heavy metal songs in a key (on purpose) he could not deliver. Also remember he was a very heavy smoker. The tensions combined with the US touring and a body that couldn't cope with alcohol. His heart-attacks were an accident waiting to happen.
Well, Brian doesn't seem to be affected in any way from this so-called ripping. It's great that he had a sense of humor and could laugh at himself. It makes him way more likeable than the other two.
The “host” - an arrogant jackass. And that’s reserving my truer thoughts.
