I couldnt bring myself to watch this knowing the assets would be unused. But now that i know MGS Delta is coming, I can watch this knowing that there will be some follow through and improvements! MGS Delta looks so good visually!
Although the pachinko scenes have improved graphics the cooler tones they went with and slightly changed compositions make it have a different feeling - which changes the overall impression imo. Not to mention the brightness/bloom washes out the details
Realistically, the biggest improvement here is the lighting. The new models and rendering is stunning, but the lighting does so much for these scenes. You kind of forget how limited effective lighting engines were back in the day.
I cannot say the new lighting is better is because the cutscenes where made with the PS2 lighting in mind, so a few scenes lose out on details or drowned out an angle because the new lighting/SFX. They are good, but ignore the intended limitations and make no attempt enhance the original idea. Key details glossed over like The End's bugged out eye, Shagohod's dynamtic camera angles showing it off, and highlighting its soviet details are lost. The Fury is flat out better though but that mostly has to due with this originating as a engine test so thats why that scene has above average details.

Konami let Silent Hills go, at this point I think they not only hate money but they dont want to be an absolutely legendary company that they very well could be. Silent Hills had so many huge people behind it and they just let it slip into non existence. Its insane actually.
@@305backup they did announce that partnership with the medium's dev, although i feel bloober's games have been okay-ish, they always feel more walking sim like lacking combat and more psychological rather than straight horror, so not sure how they'll tackle silent hill if that's what they are working on, but i really do hope the rumors of sony and konami still making a silent hill as well (hopefully still hills/PT inspired), and mgs rumors, are true...I'd like to think konami is just being super secretive, but are actually about to reveal a capcom like return for their IPs...i mean if they dont showcase anything during the e3 period when other devs will have their own events since e3 got canned this year or heck say even by tgs latest, then i think ill finally just make my peace hoping and expecting them to make a return...fingers crossed bro, definitely a shame how PT got cancelled and even a lot of cuts to mgs 5 phantom pain all because of their then falling out with kojima
@@melxb I thought about that recently. I know Konami is still going to do Silent Hills. There are a few reasons why it's going to go horribly for them, the huge undeniable reason though is that the WORLD was already captuvated by PT demo. Even people without a PS5 saw that demo and had their minds blown and their expectations shattered. What Hideo Kojima, Junji Ito and freaking Guillermo Del Toro were putting together is something you're not going to get from just some studio they picked up last minute. All 3 of those people have been masters of their craft and have huge cult followings respectively. That game was destined to crush records and honestly be a huge part of gaming history. Idk how many games out there have had such a diverse and accomplished team behind it. They were going to have a team that was a masterclass at game story telling, manga story telling and movie story telling. On top of that they all have some experience in horror. It was gonna be HUGE. Now they have to live up to the surreal expectations that were set by initially telling everyone such a ridiculous team was behind the project. Without the story telling those 3 possess idk how on earth theyre gonna pull anything close. Thats would be like firing a world famous renaissance artist and replacing him with some guy you heard about in an ad. I k ow Medium is damn good game, but compared to Metal Gear? I mean thats organic apples vs grocery store oranges.
Incredible work ! I agree on the act that the Boss looks somehow less tall than the original, it kind of diminishes the strong warrior figure she represents. Otherwise it is superb. Ocelot even got some closer face looks to MGSV. Only one regret : Sokolov does not get a facelift in these sequences :)
She is significantly less muscular in this version. In the back shot when she faces snake, during the Volgim encounter, her Trapezius muscles are diminished which leads to her broad shoulder look to be gone. Which doesn't make sense because if you are a highly trained soldier, especially in close quarters combat, you're going to be muscular. So it was kind of a weird decision on their part.
What an incredible 30 minutes taking me back to a time in my youth where a was so deeply in love with this series. Seeing it again really moved me, filled me with joy and god damn got me all emotional - just like the originial series did. Thanks for sharing this!
I would absolutely love a remake of 3 and run just like this ... To me it feels like it was run through the fox engine same as mgsv. I would love a remake of 1-4 and I wish kojima and Konami would be able to fix things. Would love to see metal gear ( 8 bit games ) made online with mgsv and be 6 and 7
Yeah, I doubt they will continue the metal gear series with Kojima's help (Especially with how they treated him), though Konami might still release more in Pachinko form . Yet, it won't be the same without Kojima and his team's eccentric story ideas, which is what made Metal Gear such a good series.
The lighting with the sunset and the "fireworks" after Volgin's death is amazing. Incredible how close they stuck with the original animations and details. Only The Boss and Eva feel off... their hair has lost some of its character and volume, both their faces are made too generic, and The Boss' shoulders and overall frame has been shrunk- making her less of the absolute unit that could actually beat the shit out of Snake in a fight.
i actually like the boss' face because it makes her feel way more human then her ps2 counterpart. it's the storytelling more effective imo. interesting point about the shoulders tho
@@goncaloferreira6429 You could make the argument that it's less neutral and more stoic, although honestly I feel like both versions could be improved. They did get rid of her tear which is kinda lame
It's a testament to how well done the graphics in the original were, for them to be cleaned up and revitalized the way that they were in the pachinko machine.
I'm surprised at how faithful these are, shot for shot, frame for frame in some cases. I'm also surprised at how good they look! Imagine if we got a playable MGS3 remake in this kind of quality.
They aren't very faithful... The boss' eyes are lacking the motherly kindness to them, as well as the guards spectating Ocelot and Snake in the background. They have a lot of bloom and look pretty but they are missing the sole of the original. Weirdly enough, all the characters emote a lot less. They look almost like puppets or androids. Somehow the PS2 version from 20 years ago has better facial animations than a 4K recreation that was designed for a literal money printer.
100% reused animations and camera angles, like I would get it if they did similar thing yet still those will be different animations, but they are indeed from original game - you can even see how Ocelot moves his mouth like in the original.
I loved playing this game on the ps2 when I was a kid. I simply loved the replayability of it. I would sit on the radio for hours listening to the character's conversations to snake. (the VAs were fucking world class teir man) Plus, playing though repeatedly let you figure out more and interesting ways of killing the bosses. (finding their weaknesses too) This is simply just a superb game. I'd definitely pay $60 for another remake on steam. Seriously I would to sink another 400 hours into this game. It's that fucking good man.
Better to forget about it. I would give everything for a Remake of MGS 3 that looks like this. But then you remember the legacy of Metal Gear Solid. The phantom pain was an incomplete game that was rushed and released with a lot of content missing due to incompetence from both Konami and Hideo Kojimas side. Then Hideo Kojima leaving the studio and the franchise behind him. And finally Metal Gear Survive, a pitiful, shameless attempt at milking the dead cow that is this franchise without its creator. Metal Gear Solid as a franchise died, and in the worst way a franchise could die in this industry: Destroyed by greed, leaving behind a horrible reputation without closure
i bought MGS3 steel case edition back in 2004, and i played countless hours. still one of the best game i've ever played. when i see this, somehow, the emotion and facial expression is better in the old version rather than newer one. for example, Eva, The End, and The Boss. i don't know, i think the original version is already perfect. it just doesn't simply to do it with graphics to express emotions
@@naoiwatani8402 Yess. They have money, but do you know what they gonna do about it? For fans? The hell with fans. Just money. That's Konami
Or, idk if you are ready or not, you gonna get MGS3 with a lot off cut content-became-paid DLC and some sucks multiplayer mode with a lot of loot boxes/gacha Why i can assume that? Because this is Konami
Remake? Fuck no, besides, just like EA with Underrgound 2 and MW, they lost the rights to most the soundtracks, voice actors, and most importantly, the developers.
Character "The Boss" looks a lot more feminine in the pachinko version then the the original at 12:20. Her cheekbones and jawline for instance, are not as exaggerated as in the original, and her waistline and overall figure are more feminine looking as well.
Yeah agreed with you there. But honestly it wasn't bad at all. I mean, her face still looks like someone that can kick mine, yours and everyone asses in this whole comment section with one arm behind her back. In other words, still an total badass and *The Boss.*
The remake looks amazing, but to me no remake can top the nostalgia I have for the original. The green undertones in the original version also somehow make me more immersed.
That version of Pachinko's cinematics makes the HD Collection laugh, let's just hope that those cinematics are put in the remake that they will do to the Metal Gear saga
They want the most money, which they are getting from pachinko, unfortunate to the gaming community, because the pachinko community are giving more money to them than gamers.
No tf it doesn't bruh why r u hating so hard on like 3 minutes of game play we got. Snake vs Ocelot literally looks like it takes place in the desert here how does that capture the same stylistic choices when it changes how the setting looks
I love it only thing I noticed right off is. In the remake The Boss is a bit smaller she's doesn't look as tall and isn't as muscularly bit as the original. The Boss, Eva, and Wolf will always be my favorite of this series. 🥰
i felt the same with eva, snake and ocelot. they look older than they are supposed to in some scenes and they changed evas hair a bit too. also i cant stand the amount of lens flare they use in the remake it just takes away from so many scenes when your trying to focus on a character or background only to be blinded by an annoying light. maybe some of it is also because i love the more animates anime style look of the original game where as this is using a realistic look. which is fine i get why its great in games but i personally love and miss animated graphics that gave games that game vibe. like how dmc3 which is my favourite devil may cry game was very anime inspired and had great artwork and dmc4 held it pretty well but then it got swapped for realism in 5 which was still cool but felt it lost its personal touch. i just worry that games are all opting for realism over art style. some of my favourite games of all time including mgs did not have realism style graphics but instead had a very nice art style that reflected some aspects of realism. its why i still love nintendo games or japanese rpgs and fighters because they go for a style of art unique to them rather than trying to make a realistic looking mario lol.
Considering these animations were created internally at Konami after the Kojima split, chances are the remake will be on par (if not better) than what we see here. Delta being created internally means that they could have easy access to these models/animations. I don’t don’t know if they would use them, but judging by the screenshots they released they are staying very true to the original game the very same way this pachinko does
The fact that they took the time to basically remake, model new character AND in general made new assets and everything for a slot machine is actually insane to me
This video got me thinking. Was the Cobra Unit really alive when snake fought them? Like, besides the fact that you have to literally die to face the Sorrow. All the rest of the Cobra Unit explode after they experience themselves the very same feeling they represent on the battlefield and/or made others suffer while on it. Pain, Fear, Fury. the end, Sorrow and The Joy. Another fact is that Snake never really kills any of them, the Cutscenes make it seem like they all just Die on their own once Snake conquers their specific Cobra atribute. The pain starts feeling pain, then dies, The fears gets frightened and dies. So on. Volgin and the Boss are the only 2 bosses that Snake actually kills by hand in the game. To me the Cobra unit are like Zombies or Spirits bound to the Boss by the will of The Sorrow.
idk about you guys but i still prefer the old version. it just has a certain unique feel/charm to it that the pachislot ver. doesn't. besides, pachislot version still doesn't have lipsyncing, which looks weird since it's in high detail.

i think eva wasnt as good here. she looks much older than shes supposed to be in some scenes.
@@yagmi6182 idunno man, I think the opposite. She seems to look younger in all the new scenes, to me
man the Boss scene at the end hits totally different with these graphics. I would love to see MGS1 and 2 remade with these as well
Those old graphics has its own nostalgic charm imo, but a remake would be neat as well
I'd take the original old school metal gear games before solid that had gray for meet snake for the first time
That fight in a minefield would be amazing remade
I played all the older MGS games besides 4 on emulation for the first time last year and have to say they all look really good even today, but I would be lying if I said I wouldn't have loved to see a slew of remakes of the old games in the Fox engine after The Phantom Pain. Shame the game that got me into the series was also the last one, at least I have Death Stranding lol.
I honestly like how the flowers sway more and the harsh color in the original, but otherwise they did pretty damn good with the models and camera adjustments.
@@MrGanjie Same man, hopefully we get MG remake. Young Solid Snake against Fox

ehh less lens flare personally. sick of that shit blinding the camera in games and taking focus away from detail
The annoying ass modern blue filter gotta go though.
@@Clay3613 I hate how they remake with that blue yellow scheme. It's good on some, but the grimey and dusty feeling isn't the right fit with blue yellow.
@@Clay3613 It's not a blue filter though, believe me I couldn't ignore one if it was there, I hate those too. It's just the lack of the baby shit green/piss yellow filter from the original. It's a little more naturalistic and allows the proper colors of every individual thing to show through, which honestly looks really good in jungle environments like this, just more drab and boring or flat in urban environments.
@@melancholyentertainment I appreciate the naturalistic look but honestly that vomit green filter over the game really added to the jungle vibe, helped give the game a muggy feel that I have to imagine the jungle would have in real life.
The pachinko graphics are gorgeous. But you can't deny the beauty of the HD version like Yoji Shinkawa's art is moving.
Yoji Shinkawa designed the covers and the base character designs with directions he never actually modelled any of the characters in game so he had equal parts involvement with both the HD and Pachinko, just the original anime aesthetic looking character sketches no 3d characters
Better than a lot of remakes, hopefully they bring to the new gen.

man, it hurts
Although the pachinko scenes have improved graphics the cooler tones they went with and slightly changed compositions make it have a different feeling - which changes the overall impression imo. Not to mention the brightness/bloom washes out the details
Yeah, that was the impression I got too. The new visuals are more technically impressive, but they completely changed the art direction.
Don't forget about the characters. While some are good, Ocelot for example looks utterly stupid, and the Boss aged about ten years for some reason.
This comparison video is timed very well. Thanks for your attention to detail.
Realistically, the biggest improvement here is the lighting. The new models and rendering is stunning, but the lighting does so much for these scenes. You kind of forget how limited effective lighting engines were back in the day.
I wonder how the ps2 would look with that lighting but with everything else kept the same. PS2 version looks a lil bit better in some cases
I don’t know why this isn’t a thing? Like…Konami, why the hell doesn’t this exist on current consoles and PC? I’m ready to throw money at you, don’t you want my money? 😭😭😭

How can this be in a Pachinko machine but not in an MGS3 remaster? I swear, the decisions these companies make are so dumb, I'm surprised they didn't go bankrupt.

Dude that’s just not fair 😱 why couldn’t we get this as a remastered it’s looks fantastic
18:06 I love how Snake actually uses his good eye on the HD Edition but seems to aim with his dead eye on the Pachislot version
Both versions, he tilts his head to the right.
So it was kind of a weird decision on their part.
they could’ve used this potential to remaster mgs3
but no let’s use it for pachinko machines of all things
Ahh yes, now they gonna use pachinko’s animation in the new remake

I would love a remake of 1-4 and I wish kojima and Konami would be able to fix things. Would love to see metal gear ( 8 bit games ) made online with mgsv and be 6 and 7
Yeah, I doubt they will continue the metal gear series with Kojima's help (Especially with how they treated him), though Konami might still release more in Pachinko form . Yet, it won't be the same without Kojima and his team's eccentric story ideas, which is what made Metal Gear such a good series.
Perhaps they could outsource to Kojima but I don't see him coming back to Konami after how they treated him and his team.
I can't WAIT for this remake‼ I could almost cry 😭😭😭
damn that looked amazing! im sad i didnt get to see the ending scene or the scenes with eva
The lighting with the sunset and the "fireworks" after Volgin's death is amazing. Incredible how close they stuck with the original animations and details. Only The Boss and Eva feel off... their hair has lost some of its character and volume, both their faces are made too generic, and The Boss' shoulders and overall frame has been shrunk- making her less of the absolute unit that could actually beat the shit out of Snake in a fight.
all of the above: yes
i actually like the boss' face because it makes her feel way more human then her ps2 counterpart. it's the storytelling more effective imo. interesting point about the shoulders tho
@@cmiller1515 more human? i guess you mean more normal? it sure helps her being more "neutral", emotionless.

Forget a remake, Konami can make CG/animated MGS films with this engine.
It's a testament to how well done the graphics in the original were, for them to be cleaned up and revitalized the way that they were in the pachinko machine.

It absolutely won't. Delta is a remake not a remaster, and looks way better then this.
so this is what Metal Gear Solid: Delta will look like

(the VAs were fucking world class teir man)
Plus, playing though repeatedly let you figure out more and interesting ways of killing the bosses. (finding their weaknesses too)
This is simply just a superb game. I'd definitely pay $60 for another remake on steam. Seriously I would to sink another 400 hours into this game. It's that fucking good man.
Also, the kiss is the most replayed moment of this video, I love you, Kings.
Snake Eater is one of the best games to ever come to console. Man, I hope to God they remaster it!
It already was, you mean remake.
They already remaster it.. it called HD Collection

i bought MGS3 steel case edition back in 2004, and i played countless hours. still one of the best game i've ever played. when i see this, somehow, the emotion and facial expression is better in the old version rather than newer one. for example, Eva, The End, and The Boss. i don't know, i think the original version is already perfect. it just doesn't simply to do it with graphics to express emotions

Character "The Boss" looks a lot more feminine in the pachinko version then the the original at 12:20.
Her cheekbones and jawline for instance, are not as exaggerated as in the original, and her waistline and overall figure are more feminine looking as well.
Her chin is stronger in the pachinko though.
nothing wrong with the original design

IT'S HAPPENING MGS3 REMAKE
Damn Eva's hairs are so beautiful in pachislot cutscenes
The animations work so damn well with modern graphics, kojima has always been ahead of his time
Especially considering the fact that most where shot-for-shot with the original.
Crazy how the pachinko machine did a better job of retaining the games stylization than the official remake.
came to say the same, honestly this has more charm and captures the source material better
These are cut scene's we have only seen gameplay of the remake so far.
No tf it doesn't bruh why r u hating so hard on like 3 minutes of game play we got. Snake vs Ocelot literally looks like it takes place in the desert here how does that capture the same stylistic choices when it changes how the setting looks
And now a proper remake has been announced, and peace has been restored to the universe
So glad MGS3 is getting a real remake.
👍🤗
I've come here after the MGS3 Delta announcement and I'm sitting here wondering if they're gonna reuse these models for the game.
Considering these animations were created internally at Konami after the Kojima split, chances are the remake will be on par (if not better) than what we see here. Delta being created internally means that they could have easy access to these models/animations. I don’t don’t know if they would use them, but judging by the screenshots they released they are staying very true to the original game the very same way this pachinko does
Actually from snakes face in the teaser, that doesn't look like the same model, which I'm happy because in this video he looks weird
24:15 this didn't age well
RIght!
She was right at the time.... but wow... watching this in 2022.
Bro i love how they kept the characters' facial features consistent with their MGS5 counterparts, especially Ocelot.
The fact that they took the time to basically remake, model new character AND in general made new assets and everything for a slot machine is actually insane to me
I wouldn't be surprised if this is metal gear solid delta's version.
Nah it’s meant to be a remake but they will 100% re use the assets from the pachinko cutscenes
I just felt the feels all over again from back on ps2 when Snake killed The Boss 😭😭😭😭

Biggest crime in gaming history, not making this Remake 😩
Now we’re getting a remake!
the light and fire effects during THE FURY stands out
Now we know how Metal Gear Solid Triangle cutscenes will look like
idk about you guys but i still prefer the old version. it just has a certain unique feel/charm to it that the pachislot ver. doesn't. besides, pachislot version still doesn't have lipsyncing, which looks weird since it's in high detail.
