Congrats on going from 33 subs to 15,000. So far you are the ONLY person on YT ever to take the mount off the transom. All my bolts, hoses and wires are out, but my drive seems to be gorilla glued onto the transom. It won't budge.

When these boats are built, screwing into wood with no goo is cheap and quick. In 20 years when the transom is rotted out, its not the factory’s problem.

Did you disconect the lines to the trim pump from the pump itself?

Cool Video. Helps me a lot to figure out how to install one of these units and I was wondering if we needed that pump system to the left for hydralics I guess. we have the in line 6 , 165 motor from 1967 and the Alpha 1 stern drive. missing some parts for the stern drive and rebuilding. Subscribed.

I'm getting ready to tear apart two prealpha drives on mercury 165s (aka GM 250 inline 6). Replacing everything with Alpha gen ii's (transom assembly and all).

I know I'm coming into this project late, but I hope you took pictures of how the wiring and plumbing was routed. Also, you can get tyrap bases that will adhere to the sidewalls to secure the wiring.

@@ZachsGarage1 I didn't see where you found out the transom was bad, or removed it. I still have to find out on mine. Thanks again for your kind replies Zach. I don't know why they use untreated wood in interiors knowing it will rot over time. I'm wondering if honeycomb panels like they use in aircraft floors and cabinets would work. Any ideas?
