    An ultra treat for me as a long time GM fan - no wait - an ULTRA Grease fan! first heard a tape of him while in Indy and was blown away ...was also on-air - and his influence sneaked into my presentation...I couldn't HELP MYSELK!!! He's simply magnificent. Even today, years later I appreciate and marvel at his verbalizations!!!! Greasy, you are the BOMB!!!!

    I lived in Jacksonville, Florida in 1980. The Big Ape Radio was awesome....great music, but the Greaseman was incredible.

    There is NO one like the Greaseman!! Great talent, sharp wit, super wacky sense of humor.
    From the 80's thru today, this man has helped MANY people get through the day with a big grin on their facesh!!
    Believe me, I'm one of them. From the moment this video started playing, I was LMFAO!
    You either get this guy - and love him - or you don't. It's just that simple.

    There was a guy in the Wash DC area in the late 60s or early 70s on WRC who called himself the Greaseman. It had to be our boy here. I was a little kid at the time and he was very "out there". This was pre- DC 101 days.

    I remember how people always wondered what the Grease looked like and they really did keep it a secret for a long time. His identity was a total mystery and I think that was part of his appeal.
    Then there were all the rumors about him being a cop etc. As it turns out, the Grease is.....SGT FURY!!!!

    I've always loved Greaseman but had to stop listening to him because his style would creep into my on air sound. My wit isn't nearly as quick and I just couldn't "do" him. There's no one like the original. Thanks for posting.

      had the pleasure of knowing Doug in the 80's. I ran a bar in D.C. and called him off the air and told him we had a Elvis impersonator performing and could I bring him to his show. Doug said sure bring him tomorrow to the show. they did some bits and he plugged my bar, faunsworth.
      a fine man. many thought he was always the grease in his personal life as well. He told me once that the grease is a entertainer. I found him somewhat shy and didn't let many people get close to him. if he trusted you he was very generous in every way.
      incredibly bright and quick witted. he would take calls while a song was playing and by the time the song was over he wold have a bit put together.
      thanks for the good times Doug. fallacio was my favorite also.

      @@tomtoberston9246 Faunsworth? Was it a restaurant too? I think I used to go there with my dad after his softball games. My mom would always get the Taco Bowl.

    Grease offends everybody, he makes no exceptions. He had me hoppin' mad with his "my grand pappy was from West Virginie" skits on DC101. Called him twice on air about it & he cut out the hillbilly jokes each time for about 3 weeks. Best comedian of all time! Well maybe I'd consider putting W.C. Fields, Burns and Allen, and Robin Williams ahead of him, just maybe. If Grease offends you, let it roll off your back like rain on a ducks back & enjoy The Greaseman!

    Grease is great, but here he fudges the truth about his background. He was actually born in the bronx, was raised Lutheran (altho I dont know if he practiced it later on), and he was never a professional 'trucker'.

    • @wylier
      @wylier 3 года назад +1

      he also told a few outright lies in this interview. He was actually born in NYC (the bronx, to be exact), and never drove a rig in his life - at least not professionally. He did, some years after this interview, do some law-enforcement work, but sort of eased into it.
