I never believed supplementation could help with my chronic insomnia. But I started reading about it and the first recommendation I came across was to start taking magnesium glycinate. That helped. But then I added Vit D with K2. To my surprise I started sleeping far more than in the past. While it’s not a perfect night’s sleep, it has improved and I’m grateful.

Yes, that's excellent. I was on for several years, but as I was recently diagnosed with mild demtia I have switched to Magnesium L-theonate, as it's supposed to help your brain too.

Here I was thinking my Nurse Practitioner knew her stuff, turns out I must stay on top of my health. I thought I was doing everything right. My body was going through over training syndrome or burnout. Sleep suffered, terrible body aches. I sought after a fix, I took a 5,000IU, a weekly pill, had like 45 tabs left, stopped taking it, bad idea…everything you described, I’m on it. My sleep suffered bad, in my past, stage 4 cancer (liver/Colon) I had started using melatonin gummies, it was helping, as soon as I restarted the vitamin D 5,000IU, slept 9 hours, no waking up in the middle of the night…
Every since I elevated my Vitamin D my sleep has for the first time in years been great. I also only get up about once a night at the most to use the restroom. I have been begging for years the ability to sleep well at night.
@@somethingspecial1415 I take it in the morning. I upped my dosage to 4,000 IU, I used to take 1,000 IU per day. For some odd reason my acid reflux is better also. I'm beginning to believe that Vit D levels affect us in many ways.
@@MissBabalu102 How? If you live anywhere above 35 degrees north in the world then for half of the year the sun is not powerful enough, also your skin cannot make vit d if its covered with clothes. I'm not sure just going outside is always going to work. You'd need to be sunbathing with no clothes for a couple of hours I would say.
I want to emphasize the overusing point you made. It does not take much for Vit D to build up to toxic levels within your body and cause hypercalcemia. They say taking K2 and Magnesium can help but in my own experience it did not help.
It actually is pretty hard to overdose and the 400 he said would barely do anything I had to take 5000. I use a day for several months to get my blood level to where it's supposed to be.
The amount of D3 required to get correct levels varies very widely between people, there is no one standard dose for everyone. If you are supplementing then you need to get your blood levels checked and adjust the dose accordingly. Google "Rightsleep" to find out how to fix your sleep issues. It fixed my insomnia.
D is not going to cause Hypercalcemia at any reasonable level of supplementation up to 100k a day...for months... you had something else going on.. There are studies with people who got to 400ng and only then did they have a slight problem.. I take 50k of Vit D and have NO problem... I got up and went out to watch the sunrise, with my coffee. Trying to be poetic, if the sun can rise and shine, so can I. How disappointing, it looked grey and drab in Texas. Maybe if I go home to CA it will be better?

California’s sun might just bring that warmth back into your mornings! Keep seeking those moments of inspiration.
Here in the UK, it has recently become possible to buy 'Vitamin D3 as Calcifidiol ' (rather than Cholecalcifidiol) - this bypasses the need for the Liver to take part in the process of making VIT D and makes the substance available to the body in a couple of hours, rather than a couple of weeks. So its the one to take if you suddenly become sick. I believe in some countries in Europe they automatically give it to all emergency admissions to A&E in order to help prevent sepsis.
I took a vitamin D ( plus Calcium) supplement the other night thinking it would help me with my sleep. It did not and I ended up taking a sleep aid around 1:00 am . if you have any advice on how long before bed to take this Vitamin ? Ty
Hi! That’s great to hear! Adequate levels of vitamin D, K2, and magnesium can significantly impact overall health and sleep quality. It's wonderful that you've found improvements with magnesium glycinate.
I need to work fewer hours a day, that's the ticket. 40 minutes in the sun, 1 hour of exercise, make my own food and sleep 9 hours. Plus make new good friends...
hI! That sounds like a great plan! Focusing on those essentials-sunshine, exercise, healthy meals, and good sleep-can make a big difference. Plus, building a supportive social circle is so important. You've got this!
In my case, taking both vitamin D and dairy on a daily basis ruined my sleep because it was causing pain in my urinary system (cause : urinary crystals - calcium phosphate crystals). It took months for the pain to stop and now when I take vit D, I get pain in the same region.
Like I said, I mixed vit D3 with dairy! You can use butter cause even if the calcium is highly bioavailable, there's only low amounts of calcium in it. But I would definitely avoid yogurt and cheese and even milk if you're gonna take Vit D, especially if it's high vit D3 intake. For example, if you don't eat dairy, sure, go for 5-10k IUs of vit D3 during winter. I wouldn't do that mixed with dairy though.@@Bulletproofyourhealth
Everyone in the comment section, You need adequate amounts of magnesium to actually absorb any minerals or vitamins at all! There are 7 different kinds of magnesium. I'm sure this Dr. Has a video on magnesium under his channel! On a side note; cell salts and pure liquid vitamin are the WAY TO GO! It goes under your tongue and into the blood stream. The absorption rate also becomes lower and if you have inadequate amounts of magnesium within the body... you won't absorb or store what's properly needed.
You said it two times, but I don't understand what you mean when you say that lack of Vit D causes sleep problems, rather than use Vit D to fix existing sleep issues. What does that mean???
If you aren't getting enough vitamin D it can cause sleep problems. However, if you get enough vitamin D and have a sleep problem, adding MORE vitamin D won't help fix it. Does that help?
