Two things...
1 The official live video has an extended guitar solo
2 check out Jack Black officially requests permission from Led Zeppelin to use Immigrant Song for the movie School of Rock! It's just sooooo Jack Black
And this track was also used in Thor and Shrek so that's prob why you recognise the War Wail
Mr polo good day to you sir I am 60 years old and I just lost my job times are tough all over this country of ours it is a time for a change if you would please react to red white and blue by lynard skyward I think all of America should hear this song right now you would be doing your country a great service thank you sir for doing these videos and God bless
Tea for one by Led Zeppelin please
They also used it for snow whites fight seen in shrek
If you want to listen to a sick bass riff there’s lemon song by led zeppelin
Now imagine that you're 15, and sitting in your high school cafeteria, when you hear this song for the first time because it gets played over the audio system...but you have no idea who the artists are, nor the name of the song. And it's the Spring of 1972, so there's no internet. But you never stop trying to find that out, because the song captures your soul. So eventually, 6 years later, your step brother finally clues you in...after which you go out and buy ALL of Led Zeppelin's albums :=)
I literally said the same thing to Polo about TOOL's Aenima. That sorta stuff is lifechanging. Same ages, different generations. Music is awesome
Legit
4 songs i can remember being earworms for years...dont change, this guys in love with you, theme from an imaginary western, darling,, be home soon, and one i knew the group but not the title or enough of the song to find it . and how about a cr*ppy cartoon where i could only remember diaperman and springman(boingboing everyone who i asked thought i was insane)..so anyway have a good one...jk...inxs,herb alpert, mountain, lovin spoonful,so lonely, mighty heroes
This is about the Viking raids on the British Isles over 1,000 years ago. The beginning is a war cry!
You need to turn it up per saying "I do not always listen to Led Zeppelin but when I do so do my neighbors"
i was 7 or 8 when my dad started letting me use his technics/harmon kardon/denon/bosch setup.. he came home one day after work i got records everywhere and time has come today is blaring and he comes in and says i dont mind u using this stuff but i just don't want to hear it 3blocks from the house
😂
Led Zeppelins best song is the one you are listening to at the time.
Every song is a hit.
im thinking when he gets to ten years gone ,a couple of other songs are going lose playing time,,especially in the playoffs.... every step of the way..santana
@@chrisross-fd3fo lol...any band would be happy to have Ten Years Gone On one of their albums.
Well said!!
No Quarter is the aftermath.
facts!
They use this in the Thor movies.
Robert wrote this about the Viking hordes coming to Britain. 😊 It’s very primal! ❤
I was also featured in "School of Rock". Jack Black begged the band to let him use it for the movie.
Srek three also. After touring in Iceland Plant anyways became more interested in the Vikings, & yes their invasion of what would become England. I became more fascinated with that time, watching Netflix series The Last Kingdom, I was never interested in that before & now love it.
The Immigrant Song was also used in the opening credits for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011). But it wasn't performed by Led Zeppelin. It was good, but not as incredible as the original.
@@nancyrobertson8661 nobody does Led Zeppelin like Led Zeppelin, Heart did about the best at Stairway To Heaven.
@@sicotshit7068 100% agree. Heart did one the most amazing renditions of any song. Now we have two great Stairway to heaven
“We come from the land of the ice and snow” For DECADES, I hear Robert Plant’s wail and that killer line; AMPS me UP!!!!!! 🔥
“Let me start it over.” Zero complaints from me!
Same here!!
This album doesn’t get the same recognition as II and IV. Every song is great but side one is unreal. 🏄♂️
💯😎
Zep had just been on a visit to Iceland and they wrote this based on the Viking lore from Iceland. You have to watch the live version of it! The crowd and the energy is fantastic! You feel that drive so much more!
They opened quite a few concerts with this song.
I was a school nurse and every afternoon when school let out, the school principal would blast this song when he left to go home. I was playing In the Evening by Led Zepp in my car and I always waved to the principal…see you tomorrow! … I loved working at that school !
That is too cool!!
If the first thing you notice about Led Zeppelin is the groove, you understand Led Zeppelin 👊🏻
ICONIC Zeppelin
Takes me back to my bedroom in the late 70s jamming out over and over to this.
❤️ it!!! I listen to this on loop when I’m flying home to Norway. Daughter of the Viking Kings - n I really feel this song! Led Zeppelin is truly from another World.. and it’s one that we all love!!!👸
This song is one of my Sons favorite Cover songs to do. He listened to it and fell in love with it. Shows that moms have excellent taste in music and know how to rock 😊
Trust me when I tell you that this song would take control of any car and the possessed car would would drive faster. A friend of mine had a “modified” Mustang that was a convertible. This is one of the songs that we would crank up loud during while we were driving around with the car top down. We had a lot of fun back then.
Live Dazed from MSG does it for me, the second half...last Wednesday in fact. Jimmy levitates at about 19:00 min and beyond
Haha
I still have my 68 SS Camaro...454 4 speed stick!! I play Zeppelin constantly!
Funny you mention that. I just got my Mustang out of storage on Friday afternoon (it's just an '03 6 cyl, but it is a convertible) and brought along my Led Zeppelin favs on CD for the ride home. Immigrant Song was what I put on first, followed by Kashmir, then Trampled Underfoot. Loud music and convertibles just go together.
Love the Zeppelin battle cry that is the immigrant song!!
It's a jam. The lore is that this song was sort of a joke song, after doing a gig in Iceland. Turns out, everybody loves the jam.
The first Zep I brought 72ish,
The original Lp cover had cutouts in the cover and a revolving cardboard disc inside that could be turned and different images would appear!!
The music is pretty amazing too!!...
That bass line is ferocious. Just a beast.
❤another 🔥 reaction. As a Canadian, long road trips are necessary, just grab Led Zeppelin 1-4 & hit the road!
One of my favorites!! Thanks for bringing back awesome memories of me and my friends cruising the avenue back in the day jammin to some Zeppelin. Man it was great growing up in the 70's for sure!! Wish I had a time machine to go back to those days! Peace!
Me too.
Damn I miss those days when my X-husband and I were still dating. We were inseparable and loved going to concerts and driving around in my 74 Dodge Charger with this song and many other classics just cranked on a bitchin stereo. Yup we drank beer and smoked weed and NEVER got in accidents because we were smart and kept our wits about us. We got pulled over constantly because of the car and our leather jackets but we were always polite to the police and were always let go with a warning. We had so much fun driving all over Vancouver BC back when it was still amazing.
that last sentence totally threw me lol at least it wasnt timmons..where i spent a year there one night
I love the way you notice John Paul Jones bass skills. Led Zeppelin has been my favorite band since I was a little kid. I love bass guitar and in my opinion he doesn't get enough recognition.
"Ramble On" has my favorite bass lines of any song. Even up again Les Claypool. Les is second in my eyes. Even Jimi Hendrix played bass in a couple of his songs.
Great on keyboards, too. "In Through the Out Door" was his album. I love it. Too bad they broke up at that time. Seems like they could have gone in a new direction.
Have you seen the playing for change version of when the levee breaks , features John Paul and a host of others it’s stunning
Every member of this band is top-notch, and they let it show. You have to do When The Levee Breaks. Please!
He did it five months ago.
Now watch the official video.! It’s a live version and omg hits you right in the gut! Plus bonus, Jimmy Page solo. Perfection
Absolutely, the live official video from 1972 is the absolute best and has 112 million views. Polo, you need to react to it, too. It will absolutely knock your socks off.
Agreed! Jimmy's added solo in that live version is super tasty.
Driving hard for Led Zeppelin. It was great in person.
This song has been sampled...used in movies...Iconic song.
Also check out the 1972 live version. It will blow your mind.
I HAVE LOVED THIS SONG FOREVER! I THINK IT WAS ALSO THE FIRST SONG I EVER HEARD FROM THEM
Love it.
One of my many Zeppelin favs.
Hammer of the North, Vikings.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 NOTHING by Led Zeppelin is ANYTHING LESS than a COMPLETE BANGER!! Should check out Rain Song....would be interested in seeing your reaction to it!! THANKS, POLO!!
I was just shy of 5 years old when this was released. Sitter brought the album over and played it on the HI FI in the livingroom. I was mesmerized and hooked. 58 year old granny drummer thanks to Bonzo's magical rhythms
You've heard this in Thor Ragnarok - at the start of the movie! Zeppelin doesn't allow their songs to be used, very rarely. I've only heard them 3x in films. The producer of Thor filmed the starting scene with Chris Hemlock fighting, added this track, then sent it to them to ask permission! The mention of Valhalla in the song also made it was a perfect fit, but they had to convince Zeppelin. The other two movies that featured Zep tracks were 1) The Big Short - When the Levee Breaks (totally appropriate for that movie!!) and the second movie was The Adam Project - Good Times Bad Times. :)
Keep em coming Polo ! More Led !
Immigrant Song, Black Dog, Kashmir and When the Levee Breaks are my favorite Led Zeppelin songs! Trent Reznor did a really great cover of this for the movie “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. Karen O does the vocals on that cover.
Led Zeppelin were the vikings of rock haha
Love seeing you go down the Led Zeppelin road. I'm always nervous about your reactions to the bands I love and it's very satisfying when I see you ""get it ". Much respect for your musical opinion and love your content. As a drummer who loves the bass line I am with you on that one bruh! I look forward to your next one. Peace out.
Saw them live in ‘77 and ‘79. They are the bar every other band is measured by..
So glad more Zeppelin!! Everything is so great!! Every song is awesome!! Try the Wanton Song, Trampled Under Foot, Houses of the Holy, etc, etc! ❤❤❤❤ RIP John Bonham, Bonzo
"They sang songs about love, about vikings...about vikings making love." - Jack Black
There's an awesome live 1972 version of this as well which is definitely worth checking out 👍
Built for the freeway. Nailed it.
That is the most perfect summary I've ever heard. Nailed it.
From the retired W.A.S.P. When this song came out in 1970, I was in high school. IT STILL ROCKS!!!!!
"One of the nastiest grooves I've ever heard" Hell yeah brother!
It was featured prominently and to great effect in one of the Thor movies.
It's pretty cool when they use it in Shrek, too!🤭
Having a LOT of Scandinavian ancestry, this song is my favorite guilty pleasure.
This song was used in the movies SHREK and SCHOOL OF ROCK.
You may just to need to start reacting to whole Led Zeppelin Albums, so many great songs on all of them.
Hey, I appreciate your love of exploring and experiencing music. Much love, man.
I thought I'd suggest two Zep songs:
"Your Time is Gonna Come" - it's smooth, each band member shines, great production and damn fine vibe and song. It's not one that people tend to suggest, but it's SO good. You will love it.
"Good Times Bad Times" - an absolute banger and really REALLY shows off what Zep is about. Also, this one is special, because it is the first song on their first album. This is how they said, "HELLO. We are the new ones that will rock the world".
I know you've got a ton of songs from all sorts of artist you'll be doing, but if you feel the itch to go for either or both of these two tunes, I am quite certain you will be very pleased.
After moving from abroad back to UK after finishing school, I had to present previous artwork. When it arrived from overseas, it was ruined by mishandling and rain. I sat down with this album cover, which had just come out, as a "creativity booster" and scribbled away like crazy trying to produce something slightly more than just worthwhile. My "doodles" as they described them nonetheless did the trick and I was in!
When the Levee Breaks is probably the only song of theirs the drives harder than this and it does it in an entirely different feeling way.
"CELEBRATION" IS REALLY GOOD SHOWING OFF JIMMY PAGE'S TALENT🎸🎸🎸🎸
Live versions of this song are better than the studio version. Page always delivered a scorching outro solo when they did this song live.
I did laugh when you said this was built for the freeway. Lord knows I've found myself driving over the speed limit while listening to this.
You restarted this song and i replayed this video as this is one of my favourite Zeppelin songs! Loved seeing you react to it ❤
This is in my top 3 Zeppelin songs!
If you've seen any of Marvel's movies, you've probably already heard this song without realizing it. "Immigrant Song" is a song by the band Led Zeppelin from their album Led Zeppelin III, It is heard in the teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok and twice during the film. The song was/is so popular, it was selected and serves as a theme song for the movie and for the Thor character, and its lyrics reflect the plot of the movie.
May be one band ever that starts a song approaching cool like Zeppelin, Heart's "Barracuda" and "Crazy on You" give me the same vibe as "Immigrant Song." Heart definitely rifts off Zeppelin, probably why they were the final act at the Kennedy Center's Led Zeppelin Tribute ten years ago or so.
Another vote for Heart, and add Magic Man to the list.
good s*** never goes bad!
LOVE IT POLO!
How Many More Times is a great Zeppelin song! You will not regret
its all just old lore.
Polo, you never ceist to amaze me !!! My younger friends of color say they HATE this music !! They don't take the time to listen like you do !!! Thank you. Zepplin is and will always be the best.
Hey Polo ~ This is one of those songs that is rarely sung at karaoke, because of how difficult it is. Back in the day, when I was really working my voice and practicing all the time, I felt really great one night and chose this one at my favorite karaoke bar. I'm proud to say I pulled it off. I've only done it the one time as the opening "hawk" sounds as you called them, are a real vocal cord killer, unless you do them just so. It's one of my favorite Zep songs. I knew you'd love it.
You’re the real deal…”let me start this over” ❤
One of my favorite Zeppelin tracks. The lyrics are hard to understand but they are great. It's about the Viking invasion(s) of the British Isles, sung from Viking's perspective.
This was another one of my favorite Zep songs. If you haven't yet tried it try out Over the hills and far away.
Variety is the spice of life ❤ thank you for the company!!!! ✌️ Polo ❤
Oh, the Live version slaps!
This song was written when LED Zeppelin was In Iceland 1972.
I seen all of your reactions to Led Zeppelin. You do now know they are the best lol.
my god man, how I envy you the experience of first hearing as an adult the grooves I grew up with - it has to hit different
Man the live in 1972 version has a lot more passion and the extended guitar solo. Really can't experience this song without the live version...
At the time, and standing the test of time generationally, Zeppin kills it with the best guitarist, bass, drums and vocals of all time coming together. Add songwriting as well. Please check out one of my favorites How Many More Times.❤
Well now you just have to hear a live version .... '72' world tour - Sidney, Aus fairgrounds (audio might be spliced in from the California shows, same tour) Watch them bring this to life and you will also hear one of the earliest heavy metal sounds that helped influence the future genre!
Zep will never dissapoint
Zep is one of the most sampled bands . Eg. Tupac "Life's so hard" Sampling "Ten years gone."
Thank you! 🎉❤🙏🏼
This is the original Heavy Metal, the Start. Everything that came after was in some way linked to this track.
Polo, my brother, I don’t know if it was this weeks cataract surgery or what, but you are glowing and angelic. The immigrant song is short, sweet and kick ass. Thanks for the review. Always good to listen with you. 🖖🏼
It’s not the surgery. Noticed the same. 😂😂
I'm just playing around with the lights for certain videos.
One Led Zeppelin song closer to You Shook Me. This was a good one
Plant’s battle cry has been sampled in Shrek 3, School of Rock and Thor, maybe more? One of my favorites!
Hands down the best rock group of all time. I've always thought so and I'll always say so! "Kashmir."
great reaction! no quarter is a very underrated tune that is spectacular
The song that wakes ancient Viking blood🧝♂👴👱🫀
Try the live in L.A. version with the awesome guitar solo at the end.
Man, Zeppelin III is such a great album! 😎👍
"One of the nastiest groove I've ever heard." Yeah.
Zeppelin were just so frigging cool
Congratulations you're in the Led Zeppelin Rabbit Hole!
They played this love from 70-73 but the best ones might be from '71 some noteworthy performances:
Blueberry hill '70
Orlando '71
Tokyo 1971-09-23 (my all time favorite)
Los Angeles 72'
I think you'd enjoy them
Have a great day POLO. ✌️
Yes I asked for you to do this next !! Isn’t it amazing!!! ❤❤❤
Now this one's going to be awesome!
Zeppelin Punches you in the gut and the brain, but the pain is sweet! I can see it in your eyes and the sly smile that we all get.
Excellent
Thank you Polo
This is what I like about Zeppelin, every album is an evolution of the band. This is one of those song you could play two seconds of the song and I could name it.
Always a good one to hear.
My favorite Zeppelin song and my go to song when I need that power music!!! Geez, I still get Goosebumps... 😎😊
Thank you man 🤘🤘👌✨
4:47 the Immigrant Song was covered for the intro of the movie The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo
Great track, lotta power in that opening.
HAMMER OF THE GODS!....................Peace!
