@@cassiehoalaia9179 horses usually have no reason to attack apart from being scared. So like the other comment said, as long as you don’t sneak up on a horse, you’ll probably be good. Not to be pessimistic or anything, but obviously, this story is based on a real event. The US government didn't stop westward expansion. Not for one horse, and not for any of the dozens of Native tribes and peoples living there. After the movie ended, they probably did catch most of the herd eventually, as they did with most of the wild horses on the plains. Same with all the buffalo seen at the start of the movie. Buffalos were hunted nearly to extinction and are now only found in certain restricted locations like national parks to protect their endangered species.

I find the Character of the Colonel really interesting. Because Throughout the movie you get the feeling that he is a hard man, but not an unfair one. His man seem to follow him without question and you don't get the feeling the he is Cruel for cruelness sake.
But at the same time he is a very clear Product of his time, elitist and racist to a very deep degree. He is not a good man. but I would not call him evil either. It is, I think, a good portrayal of how the people who did all these atrocities, like slaughter Indian people or enslave black people... they weren't _monsters_ If they were it would be so much easier. But they were just... human. I bet they loved their families, cared for their dog, were respected memebers of their communities, or leaders of their peers. And at the same time they commite heinous acts against other humans because they convinced themselves that they were less then them.
    I find it extremely fascinating.

    • @Kingdom_Of_Dreams
      @Kingdom_Of_Dreams 8 месяцев назад +9

I agree. For a villain, the Colonel is a very good one!! He is proud and cruel, but he understands when he is beaten and eventually learns to let go of his pride. It showed that he was certainly not a one dimensional character, and I am so happy that the writers didn't make him one.

Banging soundtrack, amazing visual storytelling, and drop dead gorgeous artwork. The artists barely use black in the scenery, just like in real nature. The shadows are cool blues, the light is warm oranges etc, you can really feel the color palette during the scenes where Spirit is being lead to the fort. The mesa/canyon shots just define this contrast! Like wow! This is the animated American west brother to “The Black Stallion” and “Black Beauty”. All stories from the perspective of the horse, or shows the relationship between horse and human; for good and bad.

@AkinReacts Fun fact horses 🐎 originally evolved in North America 🌎 50 million years ago. But back then they were much smaller than they are now, they were around the size of a small dog. But they left north America crossing the landbrige connecting north America to Asia 🌏 and they wouldn't be domesticated until around 6000 to 5500 BC in Eurasia. Horse would eventually return to the north American continent until around the late 1400s by the Spanish conquistadors, those horses the Barbs, Spanish jennets, Andalusian, and the Iberian horses would end up becoming free and crossbreeding between those different breeds of horses would lead to the creation of the north American wild horse AKA 🐎 the Mustang.

In the German version of „You Can‘t Take Me“, the song that plays right after Spirit is captured, the lyrics are a little bit different. Instead of „Never gonna give in - never gonna give it up, no. You can’t take me, I‘m free“, if you translate the German lyrics back to English, you get „Never gonna give up - never gonna give myself up, never. Because I only belong to myself.“ Personally I feel like they fit the scenery better, about him being so determined to fight to get back home, to not lose himself.

I have had two horses born on the farm, and there can be a lot of complications with horse birth, but mine both stood and were walking around 6 hours.
Horses are beautiful, powerful, capable, intelligent, and deserve the proper training to be ridden bit-less (without interference of metal links in their mouth).
My horses both go bit-less, and I am working towards bridle-less riding. But I didn’t learn that way at the beginning.
Let your horse have a choice, if you are doing the right thing, they will want to work with you.

I almost died when one of you asked what do they eat as they were running through the plains FULL OF GRASS. As an equestrian this is probably one of my favorite reactions to this movie. So many gems.

Every time you see horses animated in western media, they referenced his movie or asked the guy who animated it, James Baxter, for his help. They did some amazing things with, those ‘’camera’’ movements you were talking about? Animated. 😊 It’s still the gold-standard for animators to this day.
I’m so happy you guys liked it, this is one of my all time favourites.

This is one of my favorite growing up. I grew up on a horse farm and my family has Native American, hits close to home. Learned how to train horses the natural way not the crude ways of the military and cowboy at the time. Now day people do it a ore natural way which is much better for the horse and safer for the human. It was called "Breaking a Horse" because they would break their spirit. Native American would put War paint on their horses, military and some cowboys would fire brand their horses. Now days freeze brand is used and doesn't hurt the animal nearly as bad.

Wonderful reaction! And just for the record, it IS 'sim-uh-rohn', a spanish word that means 'wild/untamed' and could also be derivitave from a word referring to unruly slaves, in the latter case used for a group of escaped african slaves and in the former passed on to a couple regions and used a few other times in western movies and paraphanalia

    • @KlutzyNinjaKitty

Kinda fitting that they use a Spanish word. Horses were introduced to the americas by the Spanish where some eventually escaped and became a feral species.

I felt so bad 😢 But when I suggested we watch something else she absolutely refused. Cuz even though it made her cry, she needed to know that he made it back to his family. Such an emotional masterpiece for all ages

Used to spend time on a family ranch in Canada - had a pack of wild horses that would come and go when they felt like it. The stallion of the group was a big, tough buckskin, who looked a lot like spirit. Can confirm, the studs (stallions) do fend off predators, like mountain lions, bears and wolves. He had scars all over the place from doing just that. And after he was caught and removed from the herd, the whole group dropped down to half of what it used to be. Because he wasn't around to protect them anymore, most likely. Also, this react was so wholesome and fun to watch! thanks for brightening up my day : )

Horses are empathetic, like bees and dogs. They can sense your emotions and act on them accordingly by 'reading' how your feeling. That's why dogs and horses are such good judges of character because you can't lie to them. Even though your acting one way they know what your really thinking! Amazing.

How I love this film! It is one of the most underrated films along with 'Lilo and Stich', 'Anastasia' and 'Brisby and the Secret of Nim' or even 'The Iron Giant' and 'Page Master', all films with crazy animation and many filled with superlative songs in defiance of Disney! However, being Italian, I grew up with obviously a different version of the songs, which are very well adapted in almost every language, but for me they are special because in the Italian version they are sung by one of my favourite singers Zucchero, the Italian soul man! XD

mustang horses are very wild. they are known to kill coyotes, sheep, mountain lions/cougars, including a grown man.
horses are also powerful runners, meaning they have powerful legs. their kicks are also precise.
wild also means they are harder & bearvimpossible to tame or train.
a mare is a female. mustangs are males.
you guys have a lot to learn about horses! lol.
    (edit:)
horses inside Native American communities & horses inside white communities, are raised & tamed completely different.
to begin with, horses are holy beings in many Native American tribes & their cultures. that means they cannot harm or hurt horses. in fact, some indigenous tribes do not treat horses with disrespect at all. Natives don't capture horses, either. we respect them & treat them like our siblings.
if a horse stays with you, that means you are a good person.
