I remember when I was a kid, my mom told me about the pluggers, people who went out during heavy rains and storms like this to remove the plugs from the storm drains so that the streets wouldn't be flooded anymore. I never really clicked for me that these people are going out and doing it just because it's the right thing to do, not because they're getting paid or something. I always liked going down the street and unclogging the drains and watching the backed-up water flow again. It's very relaxing. I think its' great others feel the same way.

Also he is generally educating the lay person about a topic we don't usually think about - at least I didn't before viewing these vids - but is something that directly or indirectly affects most of us. It would also be interesting if he set up synchronized cameras, one at the roadside where the grates are, and one where the culverts drain in the ravine turning into a stream, so we could seen "real-time" effects of the drainage. It boggles the mind, watching so many people recklessly driving through that street when it was still flooded. It doesn't take much water to absolutely wreck an engine.
The RUclips algorithm has officially become too good. I never knew that I needed to see a 25 minute video of a guy clearing street drains, and I wouldn't have agreed to watch it if you asked. But I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the hell out of this.

As a Police explorer who used to go on ride along a lot before COVID: It’s not an officers job to clear out a drain. We’ll either call in a road maintenance unit or they’ll just have an event for explorers only and start making us help clear the roads a day or 2 later lol.

The county or township should put this guy on a retainer, or at least present him with some kind of honararium for his public service.
Also he is generally educating the lay person about a topic we don't usually think about - at least I didn't before viewing these vids - but is something that directly or indirectly affects most of us.
It would also be interesting if he set up synchronized cameras, one at the roadside where the grates are, and one where the culverts drain in the ravine turning into a stream, so we could seen "real-time" effects of the drainage.
It is a pleasure to see a polite and well-spoken person posting videos of a subject they are passionate about.

I wish I could say I never did when I was an idiot teenager. If it’d been raining and people were walking in the street (we don’t have sidewalks in my town) and wouldn’t move over I’d stomp it and splash them hard, sometimes off their feet. Was so stupid of me.
