Unclogging Culvert Pipe, First Draining Of 2023 And It Was Awesome

- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

Underrated comment
Lol
Wooooot !
A hero is not a violent man. No a hero does a act. That single-handedly helps many people.
A half-truth disguised as wisdom. Why? Because violence is sometimes the act that must happen in order to help others. We've seen plenty examples of that in war and in civil life. To really know yourself you must understand your own shadow. Your ability to affect the world around you. So you understand what you are capable of. So that you respect yourself and that others do as well. Everyone has one. It's one of the reasons why some comic book type heroes are so boring to people. You can't be wholly good. It's not realistic.
@@LucidDream I never said a word about violence bro. You did.
Take, for example, a person who gets locked out of a car. Then calls the police to have them shim the car open. Then the person calls that police officer a hero.
What you are talking about is called PTSD.
And quite honestly, you sound stupid.
I feel like the Pennsylvania department of tourism owes you some commission. Good work. Always.
Right?
post10 is cute. 🥰😍🥰😍

Camera #2 was a game changer for this channel. 🎉 I love good drainage
"DRAINAGE, Eli!"
I suggested it a long time ago. I don't know if it was added because of me, though.
thank you for giving us something besides what the rest of the world has to offer right now.
A true, simple, and beautiful comment.
Fully agreed.
What does the rest of the world offer???
@@DjSubstain I think they're just referring to what feels like the constant bad news. But that's not important whats important is watching unclogging and forgetting about our worries :)
@@CTEMmm It's not bad news, it's propaganda.
And to think ditch digger used to be an insult! Valuable service, saved this patch of road for another year.
Been watching for a while now, and it turns out I'm fascinated by water systems and watching them work. Watching water flowing is mesmerizing.
I wish there were more videogames with ultra-realistic water physics. That's a way to make me consider buying a game.

The new camera adds an amazing clarity to the videos, especially on zoom-in shots. Thanks for the videos, post!
Lol, this guy is just driving around the country unplugging stuff😂 i love it.
I’m a 27 year old woman in Texas who loves your videos!
For some reason I find these really relaxing. Perfect for right before bed
I can’t stop watching these videos.
Blue pipes look like groundwater monitoring wells. Usually blue or black plastic tube with a white cover. A two-inch well is inside that 5/6 inch collar/riser or casing. Just a protection and access-limitation device (the cover can be padlocked to keep randoms from messing with the wells), plus more noticeable (easier to find) if a larger diameter collar is used instead of the naked 2 inch well when located in wilder or unmaintained land. GPS has made finding wells way easier than it used to be some 20 years ago, for sure.
I'm inclined to think you are correct and the better answer though it could also be something else. Where I grew up, we saw something similar but they were placed every so many meters where a new gas line was installed. They were yellow and had green and white labels saying it was a gas line. Kids eventually knocked them down and there was nothing to them... they were just held upright with rebar and concrete.
Fracking
I have like 6 of these in my yard and have no idea what they are, but this sounds better than anything else I'd guess. people keep saying septic, but they seem way to spread out to be septic.
@@pmd1973 lived in city and suburbs, something like these were usually associated with gas lines but were labeled.
@@crarazy They can be used to protect access ports for septic system flushouts, or other similar purpose fixtures. I do environmental monitoring and have seen a zillion wells over the years, so monitoring is my first thought wherever I see one. Not always what they are, but usually is. Having a field of them, several in a yard, would worry the heck out of me if they were monitoring wells. Fairly normal for many wells at industrial sites. Residential though? Not a good sign.
I’m glad you’re having fun with what you do best Post!! I appreciate what you do, and our planet does too! I honestly could watch you for hours and NEVER get bored!! Thanks again 👍
i'm sure the beavers and all the animals that benefit from them love it

I just love these videos. I don't know why though. I think it's also the simplicity of it all - a man with a rake. The bloke is so sincere and so genuine and really in to what he does and that is so refreshing. There's also something about making water flow properly and unclogging drains, etc.
This video has it all! The big high boots, gettin the rake out, the call out, camera #2, beaver shenanigans, love it 🎉🎉🎉
Your voice and everything else you do calms my nerves. I have bad anxiety and when I have an attack all I have to do is pull up one of your videos. Thank you for what you do for the environment, but also for helping with my anxiety. ❤
He does the same for me, very calming and soothing voice. And his laid back nature is very calming! Thanks Post!
Wish you well Jess 😘
@Kevin McLoughlin thanks so much!
He talks to us like friends. Never condescending. ❤❤
How weird
Always good to see the OG of water flow. Post10 started it all and is still producing great content. Love the videos!
I was able to stream in 2160p and, yes, the quality was superb. Thanks for letting us know! Looking forward to seeing the moose in hi-def on your summer work!
I can't wait to see some 4k spider friends!
I've only got an 1080p display, but the image quality was much better when streamed with 1440p or 2160p. Even the yellow road markings were pixely with what they call "1080p". And that wasn't even splashing water, but a slow moving car. Which means that YT compress videos so extreme that it loses major parts of the details, their "1080p" appears more like 480p!
Thanks for pointing this out @post10. Their "2160p" was slightly better than "1440p", which means that "2160p" finally provides a true 1080p (1440p appeared similar to a true 720p on my display, which still is far better than 480p)
@@skayt35 RUclips uses a different and way better codec for 1440p and 2160p. The numbers have nothing to do with pixel count and everything to do with bitrate and codec. Also, render methods affect the sharpness of youtube videos quite significantly, though any videos with a high amount of tiny moving things like water, glitter, 10,000 bouncy balls, all will look terrible with the 1080p or lower codec.
@@ThaBeatConductor Do they even switch up the Codec? I assume they use the same (most efficient) one for every quality, and just vary the bitrate.
For me, in "stats for nerds" both 1080 and 1440 show as using VP9
@@ubermidget2 Seems like they changed their encoding methods. Use to be that only 1440p and 2160p were encoded using vp9.
Im so happy for you post, I remember when i found you like 3 or 4 years ago and the whole comment section was filled with rake man memes. And now you're big and still do the same rakemany stuff you used to! Go Rakeman!
Another season of fun. Thanks for bringing us along.
I haven’t watched any videos of yours for a few weeks. Glad to be watching them again!!!
You're a good man. I'm from the UK but I can appreciate a good soul when I see one. Thank you.
Great work Post! As a PA resident thanks for the public service
Cant wait til the spring thaw hits and the beavers are active again. These unclogging vids are always the best.
Hey man, the reason why your 4k footage looks much better may not only because of the resolution. At 1440p and above RUclips will tend to use the VP9 codec, below that it'll tend to use the AV1 codec which pixelates more. You can see which codec is being used by right-clicking on the video and click "Stats for nerds", under "Codecs".
On your newer videos (even the 1080p ones) it seems like RUclips uses VP9 more, but your older videos very often use AV1 I see. All that to say that if you ever get stuck with RUclips choosing AV1 again, thus ruining your footage, there are editing tricks you can find online to force RUclips to pick VP9.
Hope that all makes sense. Have a good one!
The new 4K video content looks great! My girlfriend and I watch your videos on the TV in our home theater, so this is a big bonus for us.
I've really enjoyed your vids for a few years! They were really helpful when I had hard things happening at one point. I really enjoy how knowledgeable you are about nature and fluid dynamics!! The quality of this video is 1000% better.
You should be thanked for what you contribute- Thank you👍
Great job. I'm addicted to your videos. Came for the drainage, but I love the camping and home improvement stuff
I came for the camping, but stayed for the drainage. 😁
I love that you see a problem, try to fix the problem and get successful results. You make me smile with your “Hello everyone”, all the way to “I hope you have a nice day.”

GOOD WORK, KEEP SAFE
Hope your cold goes away soon! Nice drop of water at that culvert Post! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I have a back injury, but you inspired me to take a kiddie sized 4 prong rake and pull some pine needles out of the mouth of a culvert. All the county did was put up a sign read "FLOODED".
It ain't much but I helped.
I've been watching your videos for a few months now and I really enjoy them. I usually watch them at night when I go to bed because they are calming to my squirrel filled brain. Awesome work and thanks for the equally awesome content!
thanks Post-10 for making your first culvert opening of 2023 in my great state of Pennsylvania! much appreciated!
This is so satisfying, and thank you for the good work.
Also the problem with RUclips quality is not storage but bandwidth, because the compression algorithm requires more bandwidth the more moving elements they are, when it hits the cap the image gets more blurry. That's why snow or confettis are so bad usually. 4K videos get a higher bandwidth cap, so you're less likely to have that problem, and you can get better quality even if your display is 1080p.
The video quality is absolutely perfect sir. Keep it up! Because I watch your videos all the time, I'm always catching myself unclogging pond drains, rain drains etc....
I love when you can really see the water level going down like that. We had a huge rain storm where I live last year and you inspired me to go out for a walk with a little hand rake and pull leaves out of drains as I walked. It was awesome
Gorgeous video! The 4K is amazing. Thank you for posting!!
I like your use of two cameras so we can see the results of your culvert-clearing right away!
Yes the film quality was very good indeed! Thanks from Scotland
The quality is awesome posty! I'm watching on a Samsung tablet at 1080p and it is great, even with YT conversion
Yes, it’s for taking water samples to make sure there’s no oil leaking anywhere you got underground tanks or above ground tanks they always have water monitoring
Awesome job, Post 10!!!

Hi from the UK, love your videos, keep up the great work
The footage from your new camera looks great! Exceptionally clear when held stationary.

I've been watching your drainage videos for maybe a year and a half on and off. There's something very rewarding when you sit through the video, and you can see the progress that you've made! I dig it good for you.
4K looks very good with no pixalation. 1080 has the usual YT compression with moving water looking blocky. Very nice video!

Awesome stuff, would love to see more western mass videos I live in the granby area and love your content !
Western Mass videos are going to be a rarity ever since the Department of Transportation started stepping up their game to put an end to my videos
@@post.10 Of course they did. You exposed the fact that they don't do sh*t besides drain our tax dollars
@@post.10how so? Are they actually out there doing the work (thereby eliminating much of the need for your services) or are they pressuring you with law enforcement or regulations?
Keep up the good work post. We all love the videos especially the unblocking ones. Regards from the uk👍👍
Your videos are great. Beaver damns in some states are protected if you're not aware. Just double check the laws and stuff to make sure your butt is covered. I know you are usually at work for csx and might change the situation. Stay safe and good job keeping public areas safe.
"it'll take hours to see the water level drop" 7 minutes later the water mark on the concrete is about 4 inches above the current water level. Great job! Incidentally that culvert pipe is way too small for that area.
love you vids, seeing water drain is somehow very soothing to me
Thanks for the video post, please stay safe out there, the world needs you
Great video quality. Keep doing what you're best at. Love watching.
I too find your videos to be relaxing and addictive. Now I find myself looking for flooded areas and culverts while taking road trips around my area. Good thing I am not the driver cause I would spend more time looking at the culverts than the road. Thanks for your hard work trying to help out environment. I live in the thumb area of Michigan.
Soooo excited for the new season. Another great video❤
Happy the winter is over!
looking forward to yout inclocking stories!

I love your videos! So fun to see someone working for their community in their spare time. Keep it up man :D :D :D
A satisfying unclogging, plus a bonus oil well and maple sugar farm! Many thanks, post 10. Get well soon!
That is crazy just how fast that current started. Thank you for stopping & doing this!! Flooded areas cause such damage to the area & roads. Flooded roads can potentially cause life threatening injuries if someone driving isn’t paying attention. Tax payers & road departments should be paying you for your kindness. ❤. The before & after shots were crazy…😳
That was a great cleanout Post!! Love it! Been missing you!
