  • In this video I talk about Aftersun, Normal People and Paul Mescal’s performance within them and why he has become one of my favourite actors working today.

    Paul's performance in the therapy session scene was acting at its finest. One of so many stand out scenes from probably the best drama series I've ever seen.

    I love paul mescal he one of my favorite actors. I love about performances in aftersun and normal people.His eyes show how he feels inside, and in his quiet moments, you can see what he thinks, man, what a great actor he almost made me cry in the Final episode in normal people

    So I first saw him in Aftersun and was completely blown away. I was into Andrew Scott from his Hamlet performance, so seeing All of Us Strangers was a no brainer. I just finished Normal People this week and, man, he can really embody a character. Mescal had said that he’s attracted to “restraint” in a character and I think that’s the type of cinema I truly enjoy. He allows himself to be fully involved in the scene without showing too much or saying much. He truly shows as little as possible and only “erupts,” if we can call it that, when the script calls for it. In a world where people are nominated for how much they cry and yell-which is so one tone-seeing Paul Mescal’s performances is a breath of fresh air. Great video!

    He’s absolutely fantastic! A lot of my friends in drama school including myself are so obsessed with him and trying to deconstruct how he works and his process. He’s so damn brilliant as an actor! His eyes speak volumes, he’s so physically alive as an actor, and there’s a crazy amount of ease he has on camera

    how do you mean he has no filter and at the same time holds his cards close to his chest and only lets the audience in occasionaly? sounds like a contradiction to me

    • @TheFilmDispatch
      @TheFilmDispatch  Год назад +4

      When I said he has no filter I was talking about being real and present as an actor but when I was talking about keeping the cards close to his chest I was talking about how he manages to only let the audience in on his emotions and the character’s psyche occasionally, at the right moment in the story (not being overly open, so it hits harder when he does let us in). One is about him as an actor while the other is more about the character.
