To the owner of this video and the parents of the young piper: My 2 year old has become obsessed with Bagpipes since his Aunty brought him some back from Scotland. We have watched this video upwards of 100 times since we’ve been in isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. My son misses his friends so much and every time we’re near the tv he asks to listen to ‘little boy’ on the bagpipes. Thank you for sharing this and bringing a little bit of joy to my sons day in these unusual times!

I am from South Africa and when my grandfather passed away, I asked a friend of mine who is a bag pipe player in a Scottish Pipe and Drum band to play Amazing Grace at his funeral. The sound of the bagpipe was so beautiful that it will forever be in my mind. I wish I could hear a full band together

Yes. There was a Gaelic people in the Scottish Highlands and the Highland Bagpipes (or Irish warpipes) were a part of their culture. They were defeated by Britain and the rest of Scotland (and some clans) in the 1600s and scattered in the Highland clearances. Their traditional dress and instruments were made illegal. Years later, inspired by art works depicting the Gaelic Highlanders, the Scottish began to use kilts and bagpipes, and they both became an integral part of Scotlands culture.
This was so great. My dad was in the Canadian army and I'm pretty sure I was weaned on pipe music. I've never been to any of the Scottish festivals. There are quite a few here around London, Ontario; from what I've been told the one in Fergus is the best around here. Of course, the Mother of them all is the festival in Edinburgh. If this covid-19 ever gets somewhat better and countries open up their borders then I'll go especially while I can still walk. I worked for the British Army in Suffield, AB (near Medicine Hat). You may know of it as Canmore's not that far away. The Sgt.'s mess was right next to the Officers' Quarters and one summer there was a young piper from the Black Watch. My boss always knew where to find me in the afternoon - sitting out on the Mess's porch listening to the young man play. Thanks so much for the entertainment.
I remember awhile back they came out and said that ‘’the’’ most annoying sound in the world that people had voted on was.. my husband and I were listening on the radio in the car thinking it would be nails on a chalkboard or something and they said ...bagpipes. We both, for the rest of our 5 hour drive, were raging mad 😡 - when I hear these it just is- well really one of best sounds to me in the entire world. And besides the 21 gun salute and taps- my dad certainly had bagpipes at his funeral- there’s no substitute for them.

My grandfather on my moms side used to play the big drum (sorry i dont know instuments too well) in a pipe band until it started causing back problems for him. The drumstick twirls always mesmerized me when i was younger
Very special day for him probably. So many of our traditions die out from lack of interest in kids, good to see some are still ready to keep them alive
Hello Nebraska here very very beautiful always loved the bag pipes so did my mother god rest her soul... I never got to give my mom a ceremony when she passed... She always wanted amazing Grace played on bagpipes at her ceremony she never got . sorry I'm starting to cry... Hold on.
There is a Ronald Reagan movie called The Hasty Heart, recently shown here in the States on a classic movie channel. One of the characters is a terminally ill Scottish soldier. It touches on the importance of brotherly love and how it goes beyond just the bagpipes and kilts to a Scotsman when they are in full regalia. More explanation of the colors, headgear and outerwear than I've ever been informed of throughout my lifetime. Ancestry for my group just says...UK heritage. Okey-dokey. We could've told them that just by all the surnames! So much for forensics and DNA...hmpf. I love it when tradition is passed down to the children that show an avid interest early on. Thanks YT and Mr. Hansmann for the upload.
Lovely to listen to and enjoyable to watch.Well Done To Everyone And The Little Lad was And is so cute.Best thing to train them when they are still young.❤️❤️
I kept waiting for them to show the child blowing the pipes solo but that didn't happen but it was still really cute and I love bagpipes music. What a display of talent.
We went camping labor day weekend a few years ago. That Sunday evening we were sitting around the fire and all of the sudden somebody started playing hymns on the bagpipes. It was very cool. When they finished you could here applauding from all around the lake. It was very cool.
Absolutely love pipe and drum band music...since being little..I think it was the Hogmanay evening show we watched..."There was a soldier a Scottish soldier who wandered far away and soldiered far away..." Andy Stewart...Moira Anderson...Chick Murray. Mum Dad and I loved it...can't been Scottish pies and drum bands...perfection. Happy memories
Thanks ! It must have been very hard for many! Love the bagpipes, very colorful and distinct! Sounds like you know more about Scotland than I do, so.... How did the tartan and clan plaids develop? They are so colorful individual for each klan and I assume they have some meaning or stand for something! My husband's mother was Scottish, but I don't know much about them we had a a picture of her in a Scottish dance. Our only clue, but the picture was in black
Pat Garrett Plaids actually developed in Central Europe thousands and thousands of years ago-a group of people split and went east to Turkey, Armenia, the Caucasus, India and China, and west to Europe, Scandanavia, and isles that became British, eventually. Primitive tartans have been found in burials of Celts in the Gobi Desert, including a 6ft red-haired man who looks like my grandfather. In the west, they became identified with tribes or clans, and were used as familial/political badges. They were semi-successfully banned in Scotland at one point, and misbehaving clans like mine had their right to a tartan taken away.

My grandfather on my moms side used to play the big drum (sorry i dont know instuments too well) in a pipe band until it started causing back problems for him. The drumstick twirls always mesmerized me when i was younger
Drums that the drummers twirl the sticks: Tenor Drum
Giant Drum thats on Harness on chest: base drum
Snare drum: loudest drum
Very special day for him probably. So many of our traditions die out from lack of interest in kids, good to see some are still ready to keep them alive
Hello Nebraska here very very beautiful always loved the bag pipes so did my mother god rest her soul... I never got to give my mom a ceremony when she passed... She always wanted amazing Grace played on bagpipes at her ceremony she never got . sorry I'm starting to cry... Hold on.
If you can play the pipes good, you can drive back your enemies,if not ,you can drive back everyone..

Scottish tradition seems to be thriving in Canada by the looks of it.
My highschool has someone come into the school to play it on remembance day
We went camping labor day weekend a few years ago. That Sunday evening we were sitting around the fire and all of the sudden somebody started playing hymns on the bagpipes. It was very cool. When they finished you could here applauding from all around the lake. It was very cool.
Native sound of the Bagpipes resonate within all our Blood and Hearts and may Scotland Be Free Forever more Semper Fidelis!

May the tradition of the Scottish pipes NEVER die . . . they are unique in all the world.
As I said, my husband's mothrr
Our school song at Mctigue high school in Toledo Ohio. Will never forget it..
