Assassin’s/Liar frees up an aspect slot so you can run threaded specter for an extra source of damage while still having invisibility on powered melee kills, or every other kill

Verity buffs Grapple I was able to get double damage with Cali/Verity class item tested on Carl, radiant also buffs this. I hit five red bars with The Call sidearm and one hit grapple attack triggering Caliban's

Fellow hunters, anyone else notice a change to fan of knives trajectory that dropped with the expansion? I used that melee non-stop last season so my muscle memory is pretty good with it and as soon as I played the first campaign mission I realized something must’ve changed. It now sends your middle knife above your crosshair, kinda where the very top of your handcannon hip fire reticle circle is. I am almost certain the middle knife went dead center last season. I feel like I might be crazy so if anyone else has noticed this let me know lol

Dragon's Coyote is so damn fun. Being able to constantly use Ascension, which reloads all your guns and gives you a massive handling boost, is just awesome. Plus, you'll never fail a jumping puzzle since you have FIVE JUMPS, as well as a Grapple if you so choose.

Stylish gives a 150% melee damage bonus if you’re invisible and leave invis by punching, so you really don’t want to take it off.

Fair enough, but what combination of perks do you think would be good for threaded spike, and withering blades? (Fan knives are kinda….there, but don’t really have as much utility as the other three melees. Same for grenades, he mentions dark grenades have a lot more utility than light grenades, with duskfield providing frost armor stacks when paired with renewal, and grapple melee literally being the best damage strategy in the game when paired with the navigator exotic trace rifle and synthoceps (has the highest damage in the game, search warlords ruin titan speedrun for context) comparing the dark grenades to swarm grenade and magnetic grenade…neither are really strong, and the arc grenade isn’t strong either, when compared to the utility of the dark grenades.) radiant dodge is something he didn’t bring up, since we don’t really need radiant dodge, as we have facet of dawn and radiant orbs of power this episode. Now, dragon’s shadow plus sixth coyote plus facet of command with withering blades/gambler’s dodge and a chill clip weapon is slept on, as the highest damage set up in the game before final shape dropped was a dragon’s shadow whisper of impetus build on stasis hunter with the fourth Housman, mountaintop and edge transit, and that was without the enhanced perks, and that build was the highest dps in the game to a boss (dps testing was done on Templar from Vault of Glass). That combination (class item of sixth coyote plus dragons shadow) plus facet of command(reload all weapons upon freezing a target) plus golden gun super plus withering blades, a chill clip special GL, fourth horseman and edge transit, is probably very strong for boss damage on enemies like war priest, Templar and others. Celestial still hunt prismatic marksman vs whisper of the worm on Taken King is still up for debate as far as I know in terms of what’s better for damage. Mactics does say at the end of his video that this ranking is based on first impressions, so that’s the most obviously strong stuff, and I can understand why he picked syntho call an and liar caliban. For low tier to high tier end game content, if a hunter wants to run in and punch, those are the best combinations, and he’s been remaking the same assassins cowl/liars handshake build for almost two years. He’s got that run in and melee style for Hunter down really well. The hang back and wait for dps style isn’t as popular, but means you’re more useful to your team for dps. Hunter’s main role in Destiny at the moment, is ad clear and dps. It is possible to make a support hunter with tether but it’s not how Hunter is built to play. Warlocks are much more the support/ad clear style, given their only option for good dps is strand or solar. Then you’ve got Titan whose play style leans more into ad clear and defense and less into everything else. Problem is, there isn’t much reason for good defense, so most titans re utilize their kit for ad clear and crowd control and survivability, their damage? They’ve got thundercrash and strand titan grapple melee with syntho for damage. There’s a reason Titan meta was strand titan for a whole year and a half, they didn’t have much else after the bonk hammer nerf. Now idk about prismatic Titan, or prismatic warlock, or if they’re super useful, I have a feeling that yes they are, and titans actually have a good dps option with the throwing axes, since that’s a dps super (cast it, can use instant, and switch to weapons for damage phase.) Titan utility is probably really strong, which leaves warlocks…and idk about warlocks, but the strand super is their best for dps last I remembered, but song of flame seems to have options.
problem is that that's kinda where prismatic hunter ends. There's not a lot of other decently viable things you can do with it.

Youre tripping on Caliban/Coyote is best used for Threaded Spike or Withering Blade. Multi leveled ignitions, and Overload/Unstoppable stun on dodges is nice

Something that might be worth considering and might be a sleeper build is having the foetracer/lair or foetracer/synthoceps class exotic with the Legend of Acrius shotgun since it is an arc power weapon it will receive a damage buff from foetracer when using combination blow along with the buff from trench barrel. Might be a good alternate in place of sword dps

Caliban Cyrt for fun, Inmost Cert for hard content.
I run a The Call and Graviton Lance with the Unravel/volatile rounds. Threaded Spike, Grapple, Gunpowder and Stylish. The ignitions on threaded are hilarious in at level content, but the ability Gen is great for 100% woven in endgame. Keep in mind, Cyrt works with Gunpowder too so Woven is up all the time.
Verity/inmost light with gunpowder gamble basically gives hunter pocket nukes on demand. Especially if you’re running the call/graviton lance with facet of command, giving you infinite volitile and unraveling rounds which in turn gives you infinite gunpowder gambles
I’m glad someone else said the same thing about tangle seasonal perk. I was saying this the second I started using the new Strand Titan arms. Combined with Final Warning and a 1-2 punch shotty is nuts.
Verity’s DOES buff grapple melee 10:44. Grapple melee is coded as both a grenade and a melee so mods for either one work with it.
Syntho also works with glaives like wintersbite which slows on hit so it synergizes with stylish.
By and large agree, but in defense of foetracer not having to run 3 surges is super nice for mod flexibility. Really helps uptime on a lot of abilities while not losing out on the damage :)
Gurfalcon foetracer is wild cause volatile counts as ability damage for whatever reason
Caliban/ arachne is really good, pairing with stylish & gunpowder you have 3 sources of grenades (inc prismatic) to get woven mail, its super easy to pull off gunpowder using threaded spike + caliban and the grapple melee just does its own thing to set it up.
Running it i had gunpowder gamble up every time as soon as it was off cooldown as the grenade itself counts towards its own count, plus constant woven mail and invisibility. The fragments do give it some buff as well but you are required to run a specific weapon loadout to make the most out of it
Yeah I run this with coyote instead of cyrt and it’s insane. Honestly feels every bit as strong as the liars builds but you actually get to do something other than punch. Plus in harder content you don’t have to risk getting close.
Just watched each of these tier lists in reverse order from release and I gotta say:

Just a heads up with the spreadsheet, the exotic Cyrtarachne is mispelled under both the function tab and the tracker column making them unable to be tracked lol. might want to fix that bit
I feel like there is a good argument for Assassins/Liars to be placed higher. I have both Assassins/Liars and Calibans/Liars, but haven't done any endgame content yet in which the difference between these combinations could be more significant. While I don't think the prior is ultimately as good as the latter, the ability to freeze and shatter an enemy after dodging near them twice which can detonate both Threaded Specters if they are close enough to the shatter has a pretty similar effect to an ignition.
On top of that you have a decent amount of light and dark damage from just using your melee ability and dodge so you charge Transcendent much faster than I think you can with Calibans/Liars (I almost prefer Assassins/Liars just for this). With the extra facet slot from Threaded Specter you can run what I consider the core Facets (Ruin, Courage, Protection, and Purpose) along with Sacrifice and Devotion to further enhance your ability to recharge Transcendent, or even swap one of those out for Generosity (for more team support as you can activate Transcendent frequently), or Balance (so you can have your grenade up essentially all the time which allows you to use the combination of combination blows + grapple to easily get rapid arc kills for amplified as well as making you more mobile).
Threaded Specter also provides more team support as it pulls agro not just off of you (like invisibility does), but also off of your team. Additionally if you are in a position where you are unable to turn invisible but need an escape it can provide that.
The main one I’ve tested and actually disagree with the most is Liars + inmost light. Honestly, it doesn’t sound like it makes a big difference, but like instant cooldown on grapple and not needing to worry if you mess up combination / roll combo is so nice in practice. I got the liars + calibans roll, but actually find it difficult to stack combination blow for elite damage because every melee kill wipes the entire group of adds. Great if there’s 100 enemies like in the exotic mission, but in normal activities with rooms of 10 enemies, it’s actually hard to get to x3 combination with calibans. Funny how killing stuff too fast makes the build more difficult to play around, but yea! Don’t sleep on Liars / inmost. It stays in my inventory for less convuluted fights
I personally think that inmost light and verity’s is legit s tier. Inmost light is amazing on hunter due to the already quick dodge cooldown and having a natural very good double melee in withering blade. Magnetic grenade while not being the best is still really good single target. While prismatic though death throes goes hard on the frostyfirey spike nade. I think its the combo that bets takes advantage of being transcendent which is the coolest part of prismatic. That and Im honestly already bored of prismatic punchy hunter
Inmost light/coyote is missed placed. Run it with withering blade and gunpowder gamble…… 2 dodges, 2 melee, and 2 grenades. It should be in the very good tier.

Star Eaters and Storms Edge actually does some pretty good damage. You should test it out if you get the chance.

Just got a Dragon and Coyote roll. I was having fun with it in 6s... Haven't tried it in comp or Trials yet. But ability spam is pretty crazy.
The only thing about using Gunpowder, Gamble and Grapple is that you need to be incredibly conscious of the Gunpowder Gamble cooldown. It will come up the instant it comes off cooldown.
A Gamble when you want to Grapple, Grapple when you want to Gamble will be lethal.
SUPER fun build tho.
Foetracer/stareater has been doing great in dps for me
Foetracer / gyrfalcon is just super buffed void weapons and high uptime on invs
Ophidian + Star Eater for DPS Rotations imo belongs at least in Not Trolling, if base supers get buffed or changed in the future for prismatic hunter it could be very viable over something like Celestial swapping
Dragons + coyote with threaded spectre seems like a great pvp build.

My first roll was syntho/in most light. At first I was kinda bummed then I realized, I’m pretty freakin lucky.
I’ll probably never run the mission again…maybe I’ll get a caliban roll after opening 1000 more chest

Dont write off inmost light too much. it's really strong on hunter. The grapple melee counts as two abilities so if you grapple you get x1 and if you grapple melee an enemy you get x2 regeneration. in the same breath, hitting multiple enemies with either your threaded spike or stasis shuriken will instantly give you x2 regeneration and because you have so many abilities, you can even get up to x3 regeneration with ease.
First time completing dual destiny I got that God tier caliban and liar roll, before people had videos out for that build I was using it. it’s so fun
kinda niche but TDS WITH marksman is actually quite good for rocket rotations as if you time the dodge properly you can get 2 rockets from a dodge as they each reload at different times in the dodge animation (search "Dragon's Shadow tech guide" or smth of the sort) so coyote with dragons i would say is niche and if you are using it you (probably) know what you're doing. Useful for bosses where smth like foetracer wouldn't give you enough time to dump all your rockets but dragons would. Wanted to give it a shout as it's a useful thing to know, even if it's probably smth you wont do every day (:

Wow. I just got my first class item. It’s Caliban’s Hand and Biotic Enhancements.
I wish Hunters could get contact, so that I could go HOIL/ Contact, then I could spam stasis shurikens that jolt enemies and freeze them, instead of having to throw a shuriken and pray that the synthos buff is enough for a kill to proc an ignition, this would also help with weapon damage and general ad clear with all the jolts procing each other.
Also, I'm not sure if this is a server issue or console problem, but sometimes the ignition doesn't proc or do any damage, but I've had the same thing happen with throwing two of my stasis shurikens back to back, where the first one will slow but the second one will not register as a hit so that needs to be fixed.
Assassin's + Liars is literally a good combo
I feel like galanor/gyrfalcon could actually be pretty decent, basically combine 2 of the stronger void builds into one, anything short of a GM and it would do really well for you

Renewal grasps’ class item perk doesn’t receive the ice crystal OR the massively increased AOE for Duskfield Grenades.
Assassins Cowl + Liars is great if you aren't using stylish. I run that with threaded specter and gunpowder and go crazy dude.

I got verities and foe tracer and was super hyped to do a gunpowder gamble build but verities wasn’t buffing the gunpowder gamble and I wasn’t getting extra damage when I got kills with the gunpowder gamble. Sad fr.
I honestly think assassin cowl + gyr is an s tier option and ill give you my personal reasons.
1. I like to use my abilities yes but i also like to use the guns that i grinded and got the perfect roll on so if i have to lock myself to void for volitale rounds so be it
2. Volitale rounds grants anti barrier automatically so having that can be huge especially with all the void exclusive artifact mods
3. I love stylish execution but with this combo that free ups an whole fragment slot so now u can run something a little fun which is gun powder gamble and not can blow up more stuff yippee lol
4. Being able to get healing outside cb is just heaven sent from assassin
5. To me doing the whole punch dodge loop is boring and it doesn’t fit me as a player, i like to shoot my guns and i can still clear a room wit volitale rounds and if need a bigger boom gun powder gamble
So those are my personal reasons, i want the caliban liar combo as well because that’s clearly broken with most use prismatic hunter build, but we all know how this goes, once something becomes more prevalent than something else,bungie nerfs it. So i think the main take away is just have something else ready when the big thing gets nerfed. I wish everyone luck in getting their perfect class item

calliban cyrtarachne is alot better than its said here, chuck in gun powder gamble and you can have woven mail really often and calliba gives a good cc ability

They only one I'm HARD DISAGREEING with is Galanor + Synthos. The fact you can shred bosses in even quicker chunks than with pre-nerf Banner of War Titan and the damage cycle itself is mind numbingly easier to do accomplish for a more casual player.
Starter scale with thread runner and tractor cannon does 1,000,000 guarantee
Gyrfalcons has always been only for void weapons and volatile on grenade kills has always been on a fragment. The point of gyrfalcons is that you get volatile when you go invisible and with prismatic you go invisible on pretty much any kill. You really are special.
I haven’t had lot of time to play Destiny, mainly wanted to see all possible combinations.
My favourites being Caliban/Liars and Duskfield/Liars.
I guess it depends on the content,but I think you can’t go wrong with Duskfield/Liars.
I don’t know if the ignition counts as a melee kill for Hands On bonus super and that’s why I’m leaning more towards Duskfield because I just want more enemies to proc Dynamo and Hands On.
Duskfield and liars is a great combo, I have both the ones you mention.
But to be honest I rarely use the duskfield liars one. Solely for the fact that it feels more dangerous in most situations to lose grapple. Grappling in and insta proc the invis so you have time to get close and get a good chain going is super valuable, and FUN.
23:00 for pvp that roll with winters and specter COOKKKSSSSS (especially with rat king). Since you didn't specify pve I would consider moving it up actually to the 2nd highest tier in consideration for pvp.

Calibans/cyrtarachne is arguably better than liars/Calibans for the woven mail especially in end game content. Running into a group using a melee build in high level content is a great way to use all the revives
Galanor gyra combo is two void builds in one, deserves to be higher up
I'm sorry but wormhusk was all I used. I never ran any kind of healing builds and it's saved me so many times so now that I can have healing, and an extra perk is basically a wet dream

Inmost verity was the first roll I got, and honestly, it was kind of hard to maintain the loop and didn’t feel particularly rewarding unless I had gun powder gamble up
So I decided to just do a run in the pale heart once a day, cuz opening a ton of chest is boring as hell. And on today's run I got the caliban + Liar roll :)
I mean, I want an Ophidian's/Dragon's Shadow for PvE, I like fast reload and handling, and it'll allow me to utilize PvE mods I usually don't for reload mods.
I gotta be honest tho, Liar + assasin + threaded specter are like the exodia in a team, they are modt definitely help with team survival.

So I have the Caliban and Syntho cloak it is solid... I want liars caliban if I can square up against a major and trade blows without dying. But the gallanor and star eater is extremely good if you are running silence. It is good for boss damage, but it nukes a trash mob and guarantees 50%. Then you orb your build so a few shots gets you empowered and spam the super again. It's like a slightly more involved significantly more empowered super spam.
And for the record, I still have a god roll Palindrome... And I have a Gryfalcon's cloak, and it is not amazing. You guys need to just put some time in on the pale heart and see what other cloaks you can get to drop. I am not saying it is trash, but there is better
For the Foetracer with combination blow, this realistically only applyies for like crota but what about Legend of Acrius

So dumb question here but if I’m running a combination blow build with synthoceps or liars am I supposed to punch the boss? I know it’s great for add clear but I don’t think I’ll be able to just keep punching a boss rather than evading and fire with my weapons instead.

Am I high or is Marksman Golden Gun actually absurd to pair with Star Eaters? Not only are you getting the flat 70% damage increase for x6 Feast of Light, but you also get a stacking damage buff for each successive shot of you golden gun. Like sure Celestial is insane for Marksman Golden Gun, but paired with star eaters, I feel like the pure % of stacking damage increase on top of the 70% from Star Eaters is just nuts.
Aso, if foetracer buffs your super damage, Foetracer/Star Eater Scales would also be insane with Marksman Golden Gun. 25% from Foetracer + 70% from Star Eater + the stacking damage bonus from each successive shot of your golden gun bassically gives you 3 celestial shots

I got one of my god rolls for my titan , I got spirit of inmost light / synthos. But what I really want is spirit of inmost light / scars. That’s a god tier roll to me
Do you think you could make a strong setup for Doomfang pauldrons using the Prismatic Subclass? Being able to regen so much super energy from shield throw melee with any of the prismatic titan supers seems pretty strong, I just have not unlocked everything on my titan yet for me to test myself. So far I am enjoying launching thundercrashes every minute in casual content.
I got a inmost cyrtarachne early on and have yet to take it off. I hate melee builds so using duskfield and strand melee with gamblers is constant ability spam with perm frost armor woven mail

verity does buff the grapple melee, I test it out few times I generally was hit 21k without buff and had a crit for 50k with x3

I know there are lots of options, but I swear for end game, prismatic has literally one build and only two strong aspects - stylish is a must have in every single build and winters shroud - non of the other aspects are anywhere near as good. It just means imo that there is far, far less build crafting than I thought. The other builds and aspects are so weak in comparison you’re stuck with maybe two builds
Hoil + gyrfalcon has been my favorite combo so far. I basically mixed strand and void hunters with gunpowder and it’s the perfect build for me. I can’t stand that boring ass combination blow loop 😩 what’s the point of even having all these cool new guns if you’re just gonna use one ability the whole time.

Does caliban proc from the strand melee? Like throw it and every enemy that does before it returns explodes?
Edit: tried it when I got a roll with caliban. Only on the first one it looks like. Shame. Would have loved to see multiple explosions from the thread haha. This one also came with synthos
If it gets the final blow then yeah all the enemies explode. Its very good

Also, I think Renewal + Cyrtarachne is super underrated. I recommend everyone give it a shot if they are sick of punching and would like a more grenade-oriented build.
I have that roll, I'm just completely clueless as to how to put a build like that together, especially when you're a solo player relying on YT builds lol

@@zlphrr_just get any armor mods on that reduces that grenade cd. Also this season doesn’t being amplified give you better grenade cd reduction it’s in the journal
Dudes gone off the wall... hoil foetracer is insane.. throw a void grenade weaken an enemy if the explosion kills something nearby get volatile... cook... man's got half of these rolls wrong just due to not testing just making assumptions
You sir are wrong...stylish executioner pairs well with assassins. Yes the invis cancels out but the damage buff u get coming out of invis is wat really matters. Also, spin to win is a great a slept on aspect. Yea it's not good with class items but with the new exotic I can solo gms...so no, this is by far not the be all end all tier list...very subjective...
Put some respect on Threaded Specter it is so fun when Im endlessly punch dodging and leaving decoys that all spawn threadlings
Your kind of sleeping on Storms Edge in PvE its damage is actually pretty decent and actually does MORE than Gathering Storm. But Gathering Storms Jolt can kill the trash near the boss.
With Star Eaters *6 Storms Edge does about 660K Damage in total
yeah but other prismatic super options are better, and gathering storm isn't even one of the potential prismatic supers
Spirit of coyote and spirit of dragons shadow easy swap from a liars build before DPS and then double slug + cascade bns GL roto where possible.
Assassins | Liar is amazing , you can take off stylish executioner and run slow dodge strand decoy , it’s insanely good
